Samsung Galaxy Z Flip 6 vs Moto RAZR 2024 Which Foldable Wins

if you would have told me in 2019 that I'd finally find another reason to compare a razor with a zflip I would have remained skeptical the last time I did this comparison the first gen motor Razer lost miserably it was more focused on Nostalgia than features so as a result it's desire to mimic the original razor left it with less cameras less durability lesser specs and a higher price tag it kept me away from comparing it with the next variants cuz they continued the trend of being just expensive mid-rangers that could fold it wasn't until last year that the company shifted into a more logical and aggressive strategy but I'd say it's not until this year that things went truly head-to-head on one corner we have the

Bas razor Motorola's most aggressive foldable yet not just in price but also in features and on the other we have the Galaxy Z flip 6 Samsung's latest flip powered by Ai and I already know what you're thinking why is this not a comparison against the motor Razer plus that one is priced and spec more comparably so no worries that video is coming thing is the base razor grew up so much this generation that I genuinely feel this is the first time we can measure such a thing as value in this form factor seriously how good can this new razor be for nearly 400 $1 less I'm H Mar with pocket now and let's find out in another

comparison yes without even accounting for the typical deals that both companies are famous for right now you can get the base Moto Razer for $699 it's more of what we know as premium mid-range pricing which I then called it a possible new Flagship killer bre in my review by contrast the Z flip 6 starts at a pretty steep 1099 a spot reserved for the best flat slabs that commonly offer three or more cameras along with Flagship specifications but which this flip only gets half right visually and physically this is already a quick win for Motorola I don't know about you but uh I really like this razor in Orange vegan leather it's hard to tell if it'll age as well as the glass on the flip 6

and especially since Samsung is choosing a later version of the gorilla glass victus 2 versus one but the materials and the curves on the razor make it more ergonomic to hold and flip open I know we're at a time where flat and minimal is considered more elegant but I'd call this the exception the razor is then 6 mm taller 3 mm wider and the hair thicker yet it's only about a gram heavier which proves Motorola choice for materials will give you more I wouldn't call either of these phones more mature but I do feel Motorola is getting the flip Essentials better than Samsung obviously once you look into internals the tables turn dramatically towards Samsung the Z flip 6 is sporting the

top-of-the-line Snapdragon hn3 while the Moto went with a mid-range dimensity 7300 X the flip is then more AI ready with 12 gigs of RAM at faster speeds while the razor has a dated 8 GB they both started the same storage but the galaxy has faster speeds and then their connectivity offerings are nearly similar also the flip has dust resistance rating which is a major win for it though each have the same water resistance also keep in mind that if you care about gaming only the Z flip has a vapor chamber but uh then the razor swings back in a big way once you look into displays and I mean literally the outer display alone is not just larger brighter by 100 nits and uh of higher

resolution but also of 90 HZ refresh rate the internal display is also larger can go brighter to 3,000 nits versus 2600 and then somehow is also not affected by polarized sunglasses while on the zflip 6 they just can't figure that out since Generation 1 I will pra Samsung for getting the colors right out of the box where on the Moto I did have to disable vibrant mode which came on by default the crease is H there on both though far more subtle than on previous generations even if I do feel it more on the Galaxy really cool tricks but if history serves as a benchmark I have the feeling that it's only a matter of time before they reach the zflip 5 and then the speaker test is another spot where I

feel that Samsung has a slight Edge mainly in how well it balances both speakers compared to the Motorola really cool tricks but if history serves as a benchmark I have the feeling that it's only a matter of time before they reach the zflip 5 now when it comes to software and its experience I'd call things a bit of a mixed bag the outer display on the razor is a definite win for Moto you can pretty much use any application without having to enable any beta experimental tricks and boy do these work well I found myself using the outer screen more than the inner and that says a lot now on the zflip 6 by contrast you need good lock then to enable the trick and then to hope that the apps do conform on this folder shape

once you switch to the inside my points then go to the Galaxy sure the Moto looks more like stock Android but I feel the Galaxy handles screen density better and then has my favorite tricks for multitasking even if sure the Razer has all of these things Motorola does win on the gesture front to call on the features I use often like the camera and the flashlight while Samsung is still pretty standard and yes you can prop both phones on a table for standard tricks that I'll admit I never use maybe the biggest win for the Galaxy is those 7 years of software updates which I have a lot of faith in given the update Ram capacity and the track record Samsung has shown the Moto sadly has a lot less

your support and then if last year's razor is any indication of slow software updates given it's still stuck on Android 13 I wouldn't hold my breath with this new razor and how it'll handle that any better now during my experience using both phones on a day-to-day basis I have to say the dimensity chip is pretty legendary in battery life I feel more confident in it lasting more than a day while on the flip 6 I'll Trust a day on it now my problem with Moto's implement ation is that this razor can feel a bit sluggish in certain apps like the camera while I won't deal with any of that on the zflip 6 phone calls has then a definite win for Motorola as I love their sort of analog sound quality

for both the caller and The Listener while the Z flip 6 is pretty conventional very digital I wouldn't call out a winner when it comes to data though I also find both phones to be just as reliable so the Razer wins design and display while the flip 6 wins in specs user experience and durability and software is pretty much a tie now it's up to the camera system to help call out a winner both phones offer similar specifications when it comes to their primaries and while their selfie cameras are different to numbers they line up once you look at the Micron size and pixel binning what's really left to call out a winner is the photos and videos and uh well things are interesting during the day you'll have a hard time telling them AP part the

brighter the light gets and that's regardless of the focal length Samsung might not call out its 2x when you use the camera app but it pulls just as much detail as the Moto regardless but then it's when you go into dimmer scenarios where you'll see the galaxy has more depth and character to its photos and then I'd also consider it more reliable and less oversharpened the razor does pull some very nice HDR punches and can also do macr photography that the Galaxy does not but I feel the Galaxy takes better photos overall you'll notice it mostly at night where the zflip 6 beats the pants off the razor in dynamic range where brightly lit subjects just can't be distinguished on the razor and then

the zlip 6 pulls a ton more detail and is far more consistent in colors even of the 10x digital where the razor just falls apart and when it comes to selfies and portraits I'll give it to the Galaxy but by a short margin I think the Moto is doing skin tones better in dark scenarios and even in bright extremes regardless if you use the internal or external cameras but then just completely overd dis portraits and is inconsistent which the Galaxy just does better and once you switch the video yeah the Galaxy just wins far less warping and rolling shutter which the Moto tries to do well but only to its own detriment and all while filming in very bright sunlight selfie video is then this mix on the razor where the phone tries to catch up to its own

stabilization while the flip 6 is doing a far better job at making things look natural at least as far as it can even if again neither of these phones would be my top pick or even second when it comes to any sort of video to conclude the last thing that I would have ever thought is that a premium mid-ranger would ever beat a flagship in absolutely any category and yet here we are we have a moto Razer that's better than the zflip 6 in displays and in some of the materials and even in the org ICS of its design everything else from the durability of the materials to the spec sheet to the software to the cameras and the overall experience of using these phones as a win for Samsung and hey it should be given it's $400 more expensive now if it

were my money I'd pick the Galaxy mainly because Motorola is really lagging behind on software updates things that I really do care about but then that's just me the biggest question is if you feel that the differences are worth the price of any good Smartwatch if you're in the market for a great flip phone get the Galaxy Z flip 6 but if you're in the market for absolutely any premium mid-ranger that falls into the category of a Flagship killer I'd give the razor a try first and that's over any other flat slab in the market that's how good this phone is let me know if you agree with our assessment in the comments down below and while you're at it follow us on social media and
