My friends, welcome to this episode of the Outdoor Gear Review. I hope you all are doing well. What I have here is the MC2 Mount Bivy Tent, one of two Bivy Tents that are brand new for 2026. In this episode, my friends, we will be waterproof testing this shelter here. So, get your predictions ready. Comment down below. Will this tent leak? I have a lot of experience with tents from this company, and not once have I had one of their shelters leak. I do not suspect this tent is going to have any problems, even though a lot of rain is on the way. How much rain is on the way? According to forecast, as much as 2 and 1/2 in.
Later on this evening, it should be quite the experience. And I have to say, I'm really excited for the rains to return. For the last 3-4 months, we've been under an extreme drought. Virtually no rain at all, which is really uncommon for this area, especially when you consider that this is a rainforest. With the rain that's coming in tonight, along with the possibility of thunderstorms, we should have a very good test for this tent here. This is just one test that I do with tents that I'm testing out for review on this channel. Even though this is just one test, it's one of the most important. Being able to determine whether or not a tent is waterproof, whether or not a tent has problems, it's vital. It's vital information that
someone needs before they go out and spend their hard-earned money on a shelter. That's why I do this sort of testing. It's all about information. I don't care if you purchase this product or not. It means nothing to me. What I do care about is keeping people safe, and also preventing them from wasting their money. I have high hopes for this tent here. And that's because this tent has a lot going for it. The quality is really good. The materials are really good. It's lightweight. It's quite large. And at the same time, this is really, really inexpensive. Finding a high-quality tent that checks off all of those boxes it's quite difficult. Throughout the entire duration of this waterproof test,
I will be filming. That means that I will be camping right next to this tent, and I will basically be up all night long. I want to make sure that you all see exactly what this tent goes through. It's one thing to say a tent is waterproof, and it's something else to see the conditions that the tent has gone through. Make sure, again, to comment down below to share your predictions. This is going to be interesting. It is update time, everyone. So far, it's been raining for about 2 and 1/2 hours. Rain and thunderstorms with a good mix of heavy and moderate rainfall. I have to be honest, I'm itching to go check these tents, but I'm going to wait. The rain keeps coming down, folks. Good. Let the testing continue. My friends, it is time for an update. Currently, it's about 10:30. Light rain is falling, and so far today, we've had numerous hours of heavy rain, numerous hours of moderate rain, and a ton of light rain, too. This has been an
excellent test for the MC 2-man bivy tent. Do you think it leaked? I don't think so, but ultimately, in the morning, we will find out. Currently, according to the forecast and the radar, heavy rain and storms is on the way. When is that going to develop? I don't quite know. As it stands right now, it does seem like the rain is picking up just a little bit. So, maybe we'll see some good action in just a bit. No matter what, I'll be standing by with the camera so that I can film all of the rain coming in. So, you all can see what the tent has gone through. That's the update for this hour. Cheers, everyone. Cheers. Good morning. It has been a long night of very light rain. The heavy rain that was forecasted did not materialize. Luckily, with this trip, we have received a lot of rain so far. It's been a really good test for this tent. With that said, more rain is on the way. In fact, it should be here in less than an hour. Once that rain hits and passes, we will check on the tent to see whether or not it has leaked. My friends, the rain just wrapped up. And that means it is time to check on the MC2 Mount Tent. Again, what do you think? Did this tent leak? Before we check on the tent, we should talk about some obvious issues with this
shelter. One being that it's made from a sil nylon. A sil nylon is very lightweight, it's very strong, but it stretches when it gets wet. And you can see with this tent here that the materials have stretched. The door here doesn't look that hot, and the back of the tent here has sagged enough where pulling has begun. My friends, there has been no leaking inside of this tent at all. This shelter is 100% waterproof. Without a doubt, this is an excellent result from this tent. And to be honest, this is exactly what I expected from this shelter. There's no surprises here, for me at least. This company, MC 2 Mount, they know what they're doing when it comes to their tents, as far as waterproofing goes. At the same time, 99.5%
of the time, the company's designs are really good. And this tent here has a really good design. This is what the company claims is a bivy tent. In my opinion, this is more of a tent than a bivy. This is actually quite large. At the same time, the design of this is quite good. You could see that with this design here, let's say it's raining, right? You want to get into or out of the tent, you can do so without the inner getting wet. You can also set this tent up in the rain and break it down in the rain without the inner getting wet. While there has been some sagging of the materials, they do not impact the inner. The fly pulls away from the inner enough where even with the sagging it's not coming into contact
with the inner and that is very important. The first generation of bivy tent from MC2 Mount was one of the worst bivy tents one of the worst tents I've ever seen ever. Luckily, they did the right thing. They discontinued the product after my review, yanked it from the market, and redesigned the bivy. And now we actually have two bivys. Both are quite interesting. This one here is waterproof and I suspect that the other one will be too. Ultimately, we will find out together as my testing with that tent is coming up soon.
