What Happens When You Die?. | Transcript:

What happens when you die? Well, first your heart stops. Then after 1 second, you stop breathing. Your last breath exits your lungs and creates a distinct death rattle sound. Guys, the thought of the death rattle sound just sends shivers down my spine. Like, guys, I hope I never have to hear that sound in my life. After 2 seconds, your blood stops circulating. The blood traveling from your final heart pump stops moving and settles. All of that flowing that you guys were having is gone, and it's now still like this. After 10 seconds, your muscles relax. You got no blood. You got no breaths. You got no muscles. Well, actually, you got your muscles. Not for long. And then after 30 seconds, your pH

levels change. The carbon dioxide floods your blood causing a change in the pH level. After 10 whole minutes, your skin becomes pale. You know why, guys? Because you got no blood. Then after 30 minutes, your body temperature cools down. Well, you got no blood pumping. You got nothing happening. So, your body cools down about a degree every hour. That's it. I thought it'd be quicker than that. After one whole hour, the cell membranes broken down. After 2 hours, covered in bruises. Blood pooling and pressure on certain areas can cause the impression of bruising. Oh, really?

Cuz I can't lie, though. When I get a bruise, I feel tough. Like, I look at that and I'm like, look at that boy. After 3 hours, lower side of body goes purple. Why are we turning purple? Liver mortise is when blood pulls down toward the lower part of the body. Ew, ew, ew, ew, ew, ew, ew, ew. I ew. I don't even want to be sitting up right now. Just the thought of that. I have to lay down because the thought of that all my blood rushing to my feet and being purple. Ew, ew, ew. But my heart is beating so the blood is pumping so I don't have to worry about that. Right. After 3.4 hours, black line across eyes. If your eyes stay open, they develop a tach tsh noir line across them. After 4 hours, blood clots

fill your body. Blood stopped in your veins and arteries causing it to clot. Guys, I don't like the thought of any of this. After five hours, your skin tightens. A loss of fluid makes your skin appear to t tot. Is it supposed to say tight? After eight hours, muscles stiffen. Wait, so they relax. And now we're stiffening. Chemical change causes rigor mortise. A stiffening of your muscles. After 9 hours, flies lay eggs. Your rotting body makes for an easy target. And flies lay their spawn inside you. Inside you? That's nasty. Just imagine the flies just coming out of your mouth like nuh-uh. Oh, after 18 hours, maggots hatch. They hatch and begin to consume

the rest of your tissue. And then you'll just be bones. That's just nasty. After 20 hours, your abdomen goes green. Bacteria in your gut creates hydrogen sulfide, giving you a green hue. So, our legs are purple. Our bellies are green. Face is pale. That's not a good sight. After 22 hours, autopsy performed on you. Transporting your corpse to a medical facility. The cause of your death is determined. After one day, you look bloated. We look bloated. Green and bloated. The buildup of gases make you look bloated. Oh, but wouldn't it just release out your butt if you got no muscles? Actually, your muscles are tightened. So, your butt is literally clenched right now, guys. So, where does it go? Doesn't go out. Goes

up to your belly. I see. Starting to make sense now. After three whole days, a death certificate is issued. Your death is legally recorded and you receive a death certificate. You receive the death certificate. Your dead body. After 3.5 days, skin marbles. Blood vessels deteriorating cause your skin to look like marble. After 3.9 days, blisters cover your body. Blisters, bruises, flies inside you. Not a pleasant sight, guys. After 4 days, yeah, terrible smell. Well, if maggots are inside you, flying around and stuff like Yeah, you would not be smelling nice. After 4.8 days, purge fluid comes out of nose. Oh, that's not that's gross. I mean, it's all gross, but that just fluids coming out. Uh-uh. After 5

days, fluids drained from every hole. Pressure from gas buildup pushes fluids from every available hole. Guess those butt cheeks are no longer clenched. After 5.2 days, skin starts to detach. Outer layers of skin undergo slippage and looses loosens and detaches. Ew. I'm getting weak to my stomach. Nails appear to grow after 5.4 days. What? This slippage causes the illusion that your nails are growing. Oh, cuz it's slipping. Your nails are slipping, too. Ouch. I don't like this. After six days, funeral is arranged. Okay, enough of the gross stuff, guys. Smash the like button because we're out of the gross

stuff for the next 10 seconds. Anyway, after seven days, soft tissue starts to break down. After eight days, your nails fall off. Eventually, they loosen from the nail beds and fall off. Oh, and then our hair is next. 8.5 days, you go bald. Your hair just detaches, guys. Just like that. And after 10 days, your organs are decomposing. The decomposition speds to the rest of your internal organs. Okay, we're back to the gross stuff. Oh, your flesh turns black. A black liquid, not just black, but a black liquid emitting an awful smell that those maggots and flies are going to be slurping on. After 14 days, body significantly decayed. By now, entire

section of flesh are missing, having been consumed. After 16 days, surrounding plants grow. Known as a cad decomposition island, your body's nutrition help plants. Huh? So, while you're stinking, maggots are inside you. You're letting gas come out your cheeks. Your skin is liquid. You got no hair. Got no fingernails. But the plants beside you are thriving. Very interesting. Fat starts to smell of cheese. It converts to butter. But acid. Oh, butter. I get it. Wait, no, that's not butter, Luke. That's cheese. Oh, acid, which has a strong cheese-like smell. And that's after 21 days, guys. After 30 days, remaining tissue dries out. The butyric fermentation causes

your body to dry out as no fluids remain after one whole month. Wait, 30 days was a month, but now we're on officially a month. Fat becomes waxy. In some causes, your fat turns into andipoker, a wax-like substance. So, if your skin is liquid, are you telling me I could just go like this and like scoop it up like butter and wax and liquid and Oh, 1.7 months. possibility of mummification. If conditions are dry and hot enough, further decay might stop. What does that even mean? Does that mean like half of your bones are showing but half has stopped and your skin is still there? But isn't a mummy wrapped up in like toilet paper? So, um Oh, wait. I just realized. Is the reason a mummy is

half wrapped is because that is like bones showing. So, you wrapped that up and then you got SK. Guys, did I just make it? Did I just make that discovery? Was that like a common thing that everybody knew that I just didn't know? Because that really makes sense to me. That actually does make sense now. Oh my goodness. Let me know in the comments. After 2 months, your bones are exposed. Your soft tissue is almost all gone. Exposing your bones and ligaments.

Yeah, that's just scary. After 5 months, burrowing animals disturb your bones. Over time, underground animals searching for a meal might move you around. Does that actually happen? What if you're in a box? Do they just bite through it? After half a year, guys, 6 months, you're full skeletonized. The remainder of your body's tissue is gone. So, I guess no longer a mummy, leaving you as a skeleton. See, guys, I feel like seeing a skeleton is way less scary and like disturbing and gross than seeing like the flies eating you and like your eyes open like that, your wax body. After 7 months, nearby soil is stained.

Decomposition fluids leak into the nearby dirt, causing it to change color. Oh, that would not be smelling good. After one year, harder material is eaten. Different insects appear who are capable of eating the leftover harder ligaments. So, is that like your muscles? Like the worms are eating your muscles. Like, that's just nasty. After 2 years, bones separate. Wait, so for 2 years, you're still like one joints and connective tissue decompose, causing your bones to separate. Guys, 3 years later, after 5 years, your bones begin to crack. Exposure to the elements will cause small cracks to appear throughout. Wait, they lighten? I would think they darken over time, but after 7 years, your bones lighten. If they were left in

the sun, they would become whiter. Guys, I never knew that. After 50 years, we're skipping ahead. You are forgotten. No. Guys, would you guys forget about me? Would you forget about Luke Davidson? Guys, I hope in my like elementary school and my high school, my like class pictures, I hope in 50 years kids are like, "Oh my god, that's Luke Davidson. He went to this school." That'd be so sick. And it's all because of you guys. So, thank you guys. Smash a like for that. Come on. [snorts] Come on. Smash a like for the Luke Davidson name. After two Hondo years, skeleton turns to dust.

Your bones continue to disintegrate over time, eventually turning to dust. I'm confused now. I'm confused cuz what about like the catacombs? Aren't those like millions of years old, but like the bones are still there? And finally, guys, after 1 million years, the possibility of fossilization, guys, imagine I was about to say one of you guys, but no. Imagine one of your great grandchildren finds a Luke Davidson fossil. Now that would be fire. Anyway, that's it for today's video. If you guys enjoyed it, make sure to slap that like button. Subscribe if you're not already. I'll see you guys in the next one. Peace.
