How I Organized My Entire Closet and Created a Capsule Wardrobe

there's a lot of things that I want to get done this year but the way my brain works is if there is one large encompassing thing that I haven't done for some reason I can't tackle my other tasks and the biggest clog in my life that is prohibiting me from doing anything creative is this guy it's inside here this is the state of my closet can't remember the last time I've done a purge but I was watching Emma Chamberlain's latest video about cleaning out her closet it ignited something in me that I should do the same I have no idea how long purging is going to take but it begins now this entire process took me I want to say a week and a half because I ended up doing everything in sections I don't know if I regret this decision or not but now that

everything's out I am committed to organizing all this purging in itself is very overwhelming and horrifying because you have to confront all the physical items that you've accumulated throughout the years and now I'm like really thinking twice about anything that comes into my closet I ended up with around eight bags of clothing which I am still working on Distributing a huge chunk went to my friends my family and right now I'm in the process of setting up like clothing swaps I love trades so that's a little update on that my closet is now organized now this is in no means a capsule wardrobe at all it's like a straight up just inventory now I know exactly what's in my closet which brings

me so much more joy I had a pretty strict criteria of what I decided to keep the number one thing is it's got to fit it had to be comfortable if it wasn't comfortable then it had to look good and I got rid of a lot of items that I was keeping for Halloween that's always been my excuse I feel like it's a lot more concise and I'm really excited to show you guys all right let's get started the category is outerwear I thought that this would be a good place to start because it's like the easiest to put on let's be honest the amount of pockets I can literally put extra pairs of underwear in here I would arguably say that this is the best baggy fitted jacket I know that's an oxymoron

but it's bagg but it's like the perfect level of baggie this is my bubblegum pink parka I just feel good in this it's like wearing a big comfy dubet out in public it's like a crocheted knit puffer very New York no actually this is not New York this is way more New York it's black leather incognito mode during my L face I do find this puffer a little too puffy like you know kind of like Hench you know this coat Perfect When I'm feeling just very sensitive and delicate this faux fur hoodie is also a great layering piece case in point it goes really well with this jacket that couldn't make up its mind on what it wanted to be it's like a bomber jacket but also a crochet knit for the sleeves I tend to wear this a lot when

I'm bar hopping because if you spill a drink on this it just absorbs you can never tell now this bomber was an Impulse Thrift purchas now that I've like sat with it not my favorite fit but the color the graphic in the back she's going to stay this is one of my prize possessions it's my vintage Suicidal Tendencies coach jacket yeah I had a bit of a punk face in high school that I never really grew out of I have gotten my money's worth this was a big girl purchase that's for sure but I wear this all the time yeah I always wear this on a night out earplugs that's like a sign that I really wear this out at night now this is the coach jacket that I wear on a night out when I know things might get a little messy

this one definitely has had a lot of drink spilled on it I like I act as if other people are spilling their drink on me but no it's just me spilling my own drink on myself I would say this is my favorite purchase of the Year this also looks fantastic layered with my period hoodie look now it's even warmer I ran across this jacket in a thrift store in pan in the middle of summer it was hot it was humid and the last thing I needed to carry was this like 5 lb leather jacket but honestly I cannot thank my pself enough for just doing God's work that day I don't know Moto jackets definitely have a choke hold on me rock on sometimes the Night Calls for a cropped moto jacket this whole part of the

jacket busted I took it to a tailor they said they couldn't fix it they're like you should just get a new jacket honey which is why I have the same exact jacket in a cream this is kind of like a moto jacket but shirling yeah and also this jacket is warm as [__] I wore this to Alaska this leopard coat has many names Kate Moss Alexa Chong Edie Sedwick it's very long as you can tell not in fashion I would say not at the moment not yet but fashion tends to be cyclical so I'm just hanging on to this jacket was also on the shopping block but I decided against it's like my Penny Lane goes to a rave jacket I feel like my delusional self is thinking like I could wear this for Valentine's Day I

feel like I could sell you anything in this jacket but every time I put it on I'm like all Blazers should feel like this I feel like Jackie O very presidential something about like 8s Office corporate job feels good Chic so effortless I want to say Parisian but I have not spent enough time in Paris to make that claim but I would imagine that they're wearing stuff like this I purchased this jacket in a very specific phase in my life I was taking an American history course was at a vintage store and I saw this and I was like wow like this feels like something that would wear in that era this is my hoodie collection and to be honest I have nothing really remarkable to say anything about them

except for the fact that they always have a place in your closet and it didn't make sense for me to get rid of any of them I wear this a lot when I'm sick which is why there's like tissue in the pocket I think this is the perfect white baby doll tea now this is an example of the perfect loose baggie tea I feel like I'm still on the hunt for like the perfect White Tank like you think it'd be easy this is not flattering this might be the closest one to the perfect tank I am just not feeling myself in a tank today either this is just wildly unflat ing finally found some tanks that are looking good casual stretchy mock neck yeah okay I think the secret to a tank that I like is it's got to be black I don't think I

need to ever buy a black tank ever again if I don't know what to wear on a night out I'll use this as the base and build an outfit on top of it fabulous evening top I feel like a lily in this very delicate ethereal and I loved wearing this when I was pregnant this is also a great top if you're pregnant can't say it's the most flattering ing because you just constantly look pregnant this is the only Polo that I kept this is a little bit on the cro side so definitely need to wear some high-waisted bottoms with this when I want a little bit of a snatched moment I put this on to be completely Frank I've never just worn a white button down out like this it's mostly to layer things on top of it like

a vest I am Year of the Horse which is why I got this vest I don't think I need a color analysis I think I look better in cream than Optic White right if you see me wearing mesh that means I'm going out this one's a halter sweetheart neckline with a little ruffle I was going to say makes the girls look good but then I went like this and I don't know about that claim either it's giving caramel toffee and plus I think it looks really nice with my hair color right now time to Shell out the turtlenecks I like it so much that I also have one in Gray really wish I had the Black version of this but instead I have this lone black turtleneck funny enough I do have a striped turtleneck I feel like the

traditional Stripes look good with this type of turtleneck because it's like a caramel brown almost like a bumblebee this one just feels like it's a part of your skin I need to make a note to buy more colors than this because this fit is everything this is one of my favorite long sleeves it looks like a very traditional like Korean undershirt I love m a graphic this one's got a nice little heart on it I made a vow to myself that I would buy more Brown in my closet and I did it apparently I only have two green tops it's this baby doll tee which is actually a killer fit and this blouse yeah this is such a spring top it's just like screams Botanical I'm never like thrilled to put this top on

because of the fabric it's just do you hear that it's just like scratchy synthetic but once you put it on and you settled a little bit I like it I like the way it looks we have now entered band SLG graphic te territory we going to start with my vintage dead Kennedy's tea in a couple years I'm pretty sure Lennon can wear this honestly I got this when I was already like I already had lenon and I just don't have the heart to ever wear it in front of him because the imagery is just so graphic you know like before I had kids I was like you know I wanted something crazy I want violence and Gore but now that I'm a mom I'm like very concerned like he will have nightmares vintage Pink Floyd banty that is

literally on it's last legs like this neck too many memories imprinted on this Suicidal Tendencies tea that I've had since 2010 a lot of the banties that I got in my 20s were very like rock influenced but now in my 30s it's very electronic influenced another graphic tea that I cannot wear around my son it's giving fome Street Fair it's got like a nice sheer rainbow graphic not too garish Lisa Frank it's just the right amount just a touch a whisper if you will opening ceremony Disney collection graphic te's are fun because it kind of prompts conversation or even activities so when I wear this I just want to write this is one of those t-shirts that change with heat it's like what do they call it like a thermal

fabric great tea to wear when watching kids pretty sure that this is a children's shirt but I like to pass it off as a crop top let's talk about sweaters this is also a kid favorite wow I'm really I could literally be a rainbow there is an art to a distressed knit sweater got holes here and a heart in the back a lot of times I like to wear it backwards and then put like a graphic tea to layer it underneath so it just pops out this looks fantastic with the highrise I'm currently doing like a dry February I was going to do a dry January but it was a stressful time needless to say I will not be drunk this month I hav got some band sweaters in my closet above it Underground big Chemical Brothers fan I was gonna wear this to

Portola and I probably should have this is a sweater that I strictly wear in San Francisco very loud it's whimsical this sweater always comes out during the holidays you know when I want to put a little bit more effort in but I'm not like mentally all there I'll just put this on I just know that this is going to be a given good look this is a two for one you can wear it as like a knit tube top or just the cardigan United Airlines is not my favorite Airline I don't support the football club United either but yet the craftsmanship of this sweater incredible got a thing for heart decals when I think of quiet luxury I think of this sweater is this designer no this is like a ria the nepotism gets

higher when the zipper goes higher this is like my chunky knit this just looks like an extra part of my flesh but the design is just so cool it's it's like a it's not it's what's not even like a hoodie this is just a long collar that you fold down every cardigan should look like this feel like this I also have this in Pepto Bismol pink it's a very Lial space on when I can wear a turtleneck like this because it's giving winter on top but summer for the sleeves we are back baby you know I'm not even going to pretend that I filmed this one day I can see why like elderly people wear items of clothing like this it's comfortable sensible I think I'm just the type of person that prefers

strip that are irregular some Thin some thick it just you know keeps you on your toes like if I'm just filming a video and I'm just it's just going to be like a talking head video I'm just like talking straight to camera I like to wear this one's like really Dynamic really comfortable slightly different than the other one instead of a collar it's a turtleneck I think this is my most worn knit sweater another knit with a collar so this sweater is one that I keep around specifically for my mom she loves it picture this it's a spring day you want to wear your dress but it's a little bit brisk outside you throw this over it's like the distressed hem it's like someone just hacked it with scissors I'm like yeah I

just love how dramatic this turtleneck is like sometimes it kind of looks like a neck brace do you see it but no I to me this looks elegant not like the brave soul that's going to wear this with lowrise mm- high waist all the way pink striped turtleneck this is my sweet sorbet sweater pants are my least favorite thing to put on this is my black pair of Levis that I've been wearing for the whole duration of the video in true metal fashion of course we've got acid wash jeans we've got a high-waist Indigo Jee I know this looks like denim you're convinced I know that these look like real Pockets they're not even the butt pockets are fake it's all an illusion even the button not real these are actually sweatpants disguised

as denim these jeans are real an icy blue denim and Pink jeans because why not these Bell buttoms I have to wear with my really tall shoes wow imagine I was this tall they're comfortable sometimes you're just feeling like a loose skater fit I think that these trousers go with everything it's like a micro plaid this was the one pair of pants that I was dying to fit back into once I gave birth these trousers are definitely related to the past two as well the print is reminiscent of meat like marbled meat I like them whenever I feel like an outfit's too boring I just wear these green pants and people were like wo you look so put together your outfit looks so considered when I'm traveling to somewhere that is really

cold like it's snow or something that's when these come out all three of my leather pants okay maybe not all of them but at least one if I worked in an office these trousers would absolutely be a staple and lastly we've got like a baggy office pair as of this moment these are the only shorts that I kept these are like my party shorts I feel like the style of a denim short or any kind of short is just really not appealing to me right now I think I could just subsist with just skirts I have so many mini skirts the skirt adds some mystery to the legs I like just having a block of fabric shielding this part of my body it just makes me feel good and the thing is skirts can be skirts so you really get the best of

both worlds yeah I think I'm just going to like sustain off skirts this summer this skirt's like very Bridal but also like cupcake like and surprisingly this works really well in the summer because if I get hot I could just kind of like go like this on the chair I saved my best skirt for last crowd favorite AFX Co so this is going to be the end of the video it would have been nice if I showed you guys the shoes the purses sunglasses hats accessories but if I'm going to be completely transparent I never got around to organizing those that's still a work in progress I also like forgot to show you guys the dresses I think it was just more important for me to get this video out I am very

aware that I haven't posted in a hot minute on my channel I think I've just been kind of overthinking it what I'm learning about myself is the more time I spend away from something the more dread I feel approaching it again so the point of this video was just to get it finished my love for fashion has been reignited again not in a way of like I want to stay on top of the trendiest items because after having this extensive inventory of my own closet I actually want to purchase less I'm really excited and thrilled to create these like infinite variations of these existing items and I'm also recognizing a pattern that most of the items that I kept were vintage pieces I saved a lot of my Basics that just fit really good A

lot of these items I bought in real life you know so moving forward I think I want to be able to try on the article of clothing I want to do more inperson shopping I did have a lot of fun filming this and I'm excited to be back um I really missed you guys anyway I hope you guys are having a beautiful day stay safe hug your loved ones and I'll see you guys in the next one bye
