final in action and that was equally as unpredictable. Andreva against Valinska take on it is Poland versus Russia. Valinska coming in at 114 in the world. She is now going to be in the top 30. So much of the story lines also she had to continue Miracle Maya going to her hotel and constantly asking them to extend her stay unable to afford it. the Polish government having to come and support it because while she is making $1.6 million at this point, they don't pay you till after the tournament. From qualifying to the final, fighting for a locker to fighting for a championship on the other side, the prodigy that is Mera Andreva,
the winningest woman on the WTA, she has more wins on clay this season than any woman, than any man. And she is just 19 years old. the unpredictability of the 2026 roll in Garos, a thing to behold. What are you thinking for tomorrow's final? I mean, what a fairy tale story that was for Scott. I mean, she's coming into this tournament just hoping to qualify. And any qualifier, you know, if they win one or two matches been an amazing event for you make the main draw. It's amazing event. Yeah, exactly. And all of a sudden, she's here three weeks later and fighting for the championships. Her whole life has changed. She was going paycheck to paycheck trying to figure out if I play
here or enter, where can I play, where can I afford to go? And all of a sudden, she's going to be at least 21 in the world. She's going to be playing the biggest tournament. She's going to have direct entry, free hotel room. Um, and for one year, she's guaranteed all these places. What an incredible story for her. She's been playing so well. She's moving around the court well. Her tennis IQ has been exceptional. the way she moves around this clay court. I mean, it's been so fun to watch. But she's playing against a player, Andre Eva, her first Grand Slam final. She's so young, a player that I think we'll see in this spot many times still to come. But that's a lot of pressure on her, too. And now she's seeing an
opportunity. And all of a sudden, she's in her first Grand Slam finals playing against a qualifier who really nobody thought would be here. Yeah, me has kept her head together since her third round match when she kind of lost it and they were she was telling everyone to be quiet and she was freaking out a little bit. She said she had a talk with Kena after that and ever since then she's been quiet as a mouse. She has been so focused, so locked in. Whatever they spoke about, they need to continue to speak about it because it's working very well. Her tennis has gotten better. She's serving amazing. She's just playing really well and I think this is that this is a moment for her when it's
your time, it's your time, right? She's gotten through the draw beautifully. She's played some incredible matches. And then on the other side, her opponent, the same exact thing. When it's your time, it's your time, right? To quali to make it all the way to the final of a slam is incredible. But she does have things in her game that can frustrate Meera, especially that forehand down the line, I think, is her best shot. She loves to move the ball around the court. If she's able to get into the match and work her way into the match, I think that she will be a dangerous competitor for Meera. Mera's never been in this situation, but also Helinska's never been in this situation
either. So, I think there's two ends of it where, you know, Mera could come out and play the best tennis of her life cuz she's completely locked in and she knows what she wants. But then again, her opponent is playing for everything. Someone who didn't even have a hotel room, someone who needed to have someone else pay for her room because this tournament doesn't prepay pizza every night. Yeah. They don't prepay your hotel. You have to pay out of pocket here for your room. So, it's like her, her coach, her trainer, every she's paying everything herself. So her life has completely changed and in her press conferences
and so she says she's happy to be here and she's grateful and you can also see that in her tennis. Yeah. 27 years ago Stephie Graph on this day won her 22nd title knocking off Martina Hangas. She finally squeaked out a victory. Finally got one adding that final 22nd title today. Something to happen that we're not going to forget for a while. A walk over to the final.
