Massive Monitor Lizards Get Hungry During Feeding Frenzy

Oh my god, I love the way they grab and get purchase of the prey item. How cool is that, huh? Yeah. Come on. Oh yeah. Use those claws. Use those gloves. Come on. Chase gets a wrap. Oh, look at this. Hanging. Look at that. Oh, that's amazing. Oh, look out. I got Oh, look at that. We got to feed some lizards today. And we're going to start with the black throat. All right, people. The black throats are getting big. Oh, here comes one now. Look at that. He's coming right in. I wanted to try and see if these guys were ready to eat a full grown rat. Let's see. I think they're ready. Oh, come on. Come on,

buddy. No. Yes. There you go. Let's see if they can get that down. So, one full rat for these guys. They're getting bigger and I think that's going to be quite a good meal. The key is, can they swallow it easily? I think they can. This is amazing. Oh, these black throats have gotten so big. My gosh. To think that we hatched these guys out right here from one of Jerry's adults just a couple of years ago. Oh yeah, no problem. Wow, that's amazing. Come on, bud. These guys are from Africa and they've got real robust build to them. Oh my gosh,

these claws. You can see these claws here for digging up looking for eggs and termite mounds and underground to protect themselves to climb rocks and escarments and trees. Once they get really big, they are more terrestrial. Although they can swim if they had to, but they're living in places where they got to fight off lions and honey badgers and all kinds of crazy animals. Africa is truly the wild kingdom. And these guys, they fit into their place in it. Oh my gosh, look at that. This is so cool. It's my first time feeding a rat, a fullsize rat to these guys. And that's that. Wow. Awesome job, bud. Congratulations.

Now, if you notice, it's hard to notice, but if you can see, their teeth are actually more

designed for crushing. Uh, they are opportunistic feeders like all monitors, but these guys actually will eat small tortoises. And so, they've got those blunt teeth to really crush shells and so on. No problem. That's great. Holy smokes. And that just saves time. Feeding them one rat as opposed to four chicks makes things easy. Wow. It's going to be so cool to see how big these guys top out at. And the fact that they've been living together their entire lives is good, too. Uh we shouldn't have any issues with territoriality. They do, in fact, have really good

space in this enclosure. It's a large enclosure. And of course, we have the custom cages suncatcher outside that's connected via a Universal Rocks disguised tube. I'll show you that when I walk outside. But this is awesome. I love graduation day in feeding. I like when these guys kind of move up to that next level. They're about 2 and 1/2t and they'll top out closer to 6 and 1/2, 7 foot long. One of the largest monitors out there. Oh, baby. Don't hit me. They still like to whip. Nice. Good job. All right. out and see what other monitors are waiting for us to bring them food. Feeding day is always fun. It's always an important time uh to check the animals and make sure that they are healthy and moving properly. Here's a Camp Cannon rig. Check it out. Just got it washed. There's our tube, our universal rocks tube. We just went ahead and uh skinned it with their bark skin. And then there's the outdoor enclosure. So those animals can go in and out. And that makes them extremely happy. Makes me happy, too. I love to give these animals the proper environments, which is what

we aim for here at the camp. And now I saw her earlier. She was out and about. We're talking, of course, of our girl Inky. Hey, look at this blacknake. Awesome, man. Little black racer.
