Billionaire Warren Buffett will not make a media donation to the Gates Foundation for the first time in 20 years, the Wall Street Journal reported. As he awaits more details about the philanthropic group's links to convicted sex offender Jeffrey Epstein. Buffett and his team are in touch with the Gates Foundation to learn more about these links. He previously told CNBC that he has not been in touch with Bill Gates, who is the namesake of the philanthropic group, since the release of the Epstein files. Bill Gates has not been accused of any wrongdoing, but the files did highlight his relationship with Epstein. The Gates Foundation mentioned earlier this year that a small group of its employees interacted with Epstein for
philanthropic purposes, but no financial transactions took place between the two parties. In April, the Gates Foundation also said that it had commissioned an external review to take a look at its past interactions with Epstein and assess how it develops new partnerships going forward. The Wall Street Journal reported that Buffett is delaying his donations to the foundation until later this year, perhaps around Thanksgiving. Last June, he donated shares worth $6 billion to five charities total, a big chunk of which went to the Gates Foundation.
The billionaire has been donating to Bill Gates' philanthropic venture since 2006. Between 2006 and 2025, Buffett's donations to the Gates Foundation totaled $48 billion, according to the journal. Buffett is currently the 10th richest person in the world with an estimated net worth of $146.7 billion, according to Forbes' real-time billionaires list.
