A remote stretch of highway deep in the forests of North Georgia. A local cop's dash cam captures something creepy. What the What was that? Did you see that? Yeah. A creature darts across the road. If this is a wild creature, it's not like anything you'd expect to find up here. That was on 2 feet, wasn't it? Yeah. It does appear to be something. And it appears to be sizable. People call it Bigfoot. Deputy Sheriff TJ Alexander patrols the ghostly Chattahuchi forest late at night.

Even on a full moon night, it's it's it's definitely pretty hard to see. The only light was a light from the patrol car headlight. It's definitely an area you probably don't want to be in around at night, you know, on foot, especially um cuz anything can happen out there. Riding shotgun, a local resident on a factf finding mission. We were just kind of talking and just kind of, you know, just shooting the breeze. No, no lie. Shoot first, ask questions after they've got your body. All of a sudden, this dark hairy figure runs across the highway in front of me. What the What was that? Did you see that?

It runs across the road so fast and out of sight that it's like it knows the road in the area like the back of its hand. My emotions went wild at that point cuz I didn't know what this was. What the heck was that? That was on 2 ft, wasn't it? Yeah. Thought I was seeing things actually. Oh my goodness. Please tell me we got that on video. My first instinct was it's definitely an animal. But the strange thing was it was seemed to be running across the highway at high speed on it on its back legs.

TJ races after the animal. I even hit the accelerator a little too hard to get back to the spot where I saw the object go down into the to the wood line there. You see anything down there? Good. Yes. The passenger said that she was seeing the object down there swaying side to side. Did you see that? I'm not crazy. I seen something. Didn't you? Heck yeah, I saw it. TJ heads into the forest, searching for any sign of the creature.

I was not able to see or hear anything at that point. It appears that it was gone. TJ downloads the footage back at the sheriff's office. Analysis of the dash cam tape reveals the creature appears to be taller than the average human and is running fast. We've run across a lot of incidents in law enforcement. I was kind of scared cuz I didn't know what I was dealing with. So, I had to investigate further. Experts are trying to identify a mysterious beast caught on a cop's dash cam. Hey, what's that?

Did you see that? Yes. Investigator Joe Nicl analyzes the footage. He believes the creature's irregular gate could hold a clue. When we slow down the action, it's moving very fast. It's probably on all fours. It's scrambling. It stands almost up and then it drops to all fours again before disappearing. This would argue for a bear. It's a logical theory because bears are often seen in the area. Local explorer Matt Puit studies bears and their habitats.

I mean, black bear would be the obvious candidate because this area is loaded with black bears. So, it's not unusual for motorists to see black bears crossing the roads. Black bears normally walk on all fours, but the creature in the footage appears to walk upright as well. There's evidence bears do occasionally walk on their hind legs. There's a famous animal in New Jersey nicknamed pedals that used to walk around on two legs all the time. But for Puit, there is something about the speed this creature moves at that puts the bear theory in doubt.

The individual in the footage seems to cover a lot of ground very quickly. And it does that by taking very long strides. For something like a black bear, if it were walking bipedily, it would take many short steps to cross that same distance. though you could rule out a black bear by the stride and the speed at which it covers that highway. Some propose an entirely different candidate, one better able to take big strides. Our close cousin, the apes, are better adapted at walking around on two legs than bears are, for example. And gorillas, in particular, are big and black and hairy. So, could this be a gorilla?

It's not as bizarre as it sounds. Local historian Jeffrey Wells considers if an ape could be loose in the wilds of Georgia. Well, of course, gorillas and primates don't inhabit that part of North Georgia or any part of Georgia indigenously. Uh I do know there is a primate conservatory there in that area and there's a zoo in Atlanta. It could be that maybe the individual in this footage is an escaped one of those gorillas. If it's true, this wouldn't be the first time an ape has gone on the rampage. In 2000, tourists are evacuated when a gorilla escapes its enclosure at the Los

Angeles Zoo. Puit checks the records for any ape breakouts. There's no stories in the media about any having escaped from a nearby haven, which there is. Yet something about the creature's appearance raises a tantalizing possibility for Puit. I am intimately aware of sightings and observations of another potentially bipeedal ape that lives in northeast Georgia. Puit first encounters this elusive creature at the age of 17. Some friends and I went to explore this place and we start hearing these things following us on either side. Very dense forest.

You could hear huge branches being snapped and ripped off trees and then being hit against the trunks of trees. Then there were these kind of menacing huffs and screams and a huge tree came down. What he sees next terrifies him. In that moment, you can clearly see two big almond shaped reflective eyes that close and look away. Puit believes he came face to face with the legendary Bigfoot. Bigfoot is typically described as being at least 7 foot tall, walks upright, it's covered in dark hair, it walks like a man, has apeike characteristics, yet is something completely unknown to

science. Scientists haven't cataloged every species on the planet. There are gaps in the records. For example, in 2014, the carcass of a dead whale washed up on St. George Island in Alaska. And it was discovered that this was a completely new species of whale unknown to science before that. Lyall Blackburn believes it's possible that Bigfoot could be one of these unconfirmed species. It's not impossible for a creature that is above average intelligence, that wishes to remain elusive, could exist in remote areas and be undiscovered.

The dash cam footage may be the smoking gun that proves Bigfoot exists, but local Sheriff Stacy Gerard isn't convinced. He returns to the scene to search for physical evidence. There was uh some fresh tracks around this location. And in this uh circle area here, there was actually some old and new beer cans. The beer cans told me that it was humans that was here, not a animal. I had actually made the comment to the patrol commander, if this was Bigfoot, then Bigfoot likes this brand of beer.

Gerard expands the search radius. He reaches a cluster of houses and spots a couple of students goofing around. The sheriff takes a closer look. A large fur object lies in the front yard. They had thought it was a fun gag and they had been doing it a few nights and they discussed that with me. They confessed to having the costume and um stated that it would happen no more and we have had no more sightings of Bigfoot since. This time it may not be Bigfoot, but some still believe the elusive creature of legend is out there just waiting to be found.

The search goes on. Now, a bem movie monster in the flesh. This is definitely something out of the ordinary. Something very strange. A creature filmed lurking in the shadows. It's like something out of my nightmares. It's weird. It's maybe dangerous. And it's in your backyard. Brazil 2007. San Ganon Salo Des 800 m north of Rio de Janeiro. A sleepy rural community steeped in ancient culture and tradition. As night falls, a security camera monitors a backyard.

All seems normal until a shadowy figure emerges. It's dark. It looks like it might be hairy. And its movements are very inhuman. It's hard to see any real features, but it's definitely got this elongated face. There's a snout perhaps. You can almost see a row of sharp teeth there. Looks to be either apeike or wolflike. And it kind of stays in the shadows as it moves around. The mysterious creature appears for a few short moments before disappearing into the night, but it's not the last time it's seen.

An hour later, local resident Ho Apatulo is woken by an unearly howl outside her bedroom window. For the next few nights, the local radio station is inundated with reports of sightings of the strange beast. Many believe the slaughtered livestock coupled with the surveillance sighting is evidence of a legendary beast is terrorizing the town. Brazil has a long history of werewolf sightings. People have reported being attacked by these creatures. Perhaps this film has captured one of those creatures.

A backyard surveillance camera captures a mysterious creature that some fear is evidence the mythological werewolf is real. Zoologologist Darren Nish analyzes the footage looking for clues. In the footage, we do see some particular parts of anatomy where we can get measurements and work out their proportions. Freezing the footage. Measurements reveal that the figure's upper arm is an almost identical length to its lower arm. This ratio of 1 one is characteristic of a well-known local species.

This does have the characteristic proportions of our species of homo sapiens. This footage basically has all the hallmarks of an elaborate prank. But if this is a human, a prank isn't the only explanation. Biologist Kelly Price researches unusual medical conditions. She believes there are some rare disorders that could explain a werewolfike appearance. There is a genetic condition known as hyperchricosis that runs in families where members of the family who have it have hair all over their bodies, including their faces, even on their eyelids, and it's often known as the werewolf syndrome.

Fewer than 100 cases have been recorded. Nobody knows how many people with the condition are alive today. And some doctors suggest that the super rare werewolf syndrome isn't the only medical condition that could be afflicting the creature in the surveillance tape. There have been occasional cases of a psychological condition known as lyanthropy. And this is where people become deluded and actually believe they are wild animals of some kind. Typically, they think that they've transformed into a wolf. It could be somebody mentally deranged. It could be literally somebody who believes they're a werewolf. But further anatomical analysis suggests this may not be a human figure.

The thing about it is if it's a person then they have to be on all fours and so their legs should be bent in the back. But it really does look like whatever this creature it is, it has two straight legs. Investigators consider what native animals match the anatomical analysis. The yard in this footage backs onto a natural area in Brazil. And so we have to think, what native animals in Brazil might be coming into this backyard? When you look at the list of all the animals that live in Brazil, nothing matches this character. But scientists haven't cataloged every species on the planet. There are gaps in the record.

A large part of Brazil's Swathton rainforest, and we know that there are many species that live in that forest that we haven't quite discovered yet. So, one could think maybe this is one of those animals. If we're talking about an unknown species, what better place to hide than a Brazilian rainforest? Many locals fear this nightmarish beast still remains on the loose. I don't think we're going to get to the bottom of whatever this creature is based on this footage alone. But what we can tell is whatever it is, it's very creepy.

Until we catch whatever it is, I suppose we'll have to assume that there is a werewolf roaming the forests of Brazil. Now on a remote fogbound Canadian construction site, something terrifying comes out of the woods. There's running up around the Oh, yeah. Okay, now I see something. Yeah. He's kind of coming over the When the footage is enhanced, we see what appears to be a creature with superhuman strength. This squat brownish figure seems to chuck this tree like I don't know 30 40 ft. Terrified workers react in panic as it rampages in the mist.

You know that's got to weigh a couple hundred lb. And he launches it like it's a tinker toy. What is this? Is it a man? Is it a woman? Is it a creature? Alberta, a vast Canadian province of mountains and forest. 61% of its land is wilderness and its trees are a rich resource. Over 18,000 people here work in logging, producing timber, pulpwood, and bofuels, an industry worth $7 billion a year. 2015, contractors preparing to get to work at a remote site spot something prowling in the mist.

One of the men grabs his phone and starts to film. Oh yeah. Okay, now I see something. Yeah. He's kind of coming over the It's kind of spooky to begin with because it's this kind of shadowy murky figure, you know, just sort of peeking just barely visible at the tree line. The terrified men watch in horror, all witnessing the same disturbing event unfold. They're swearing. They're scared. The workers are convinced they have seen someone or something displaying an immense show of force.

It's a big creature. I don't think that person taking the video footage is far enough back. Former NYPD image analyst Connor McCort runs the video through his enhancement software. There's a mist and there's shadows from the forest. This all causes the image to be blurry. What I'm going to do here is do a level adjustment. It adjusts the brightness and the contrast. There we go. McCort's enhancement clearly reveals the figure in the woods and its incredible strength. Wow. Whatever that thing is super strong. I don't know the size of that tree or its weight, but man, it really flies. When you look at the size of Canada and

the amount of square miles that are unexplored, uninhabitable, there's no telling what's in there. Reports of Bigfoot-like creatures in North America stretch back hundreds of years, although no concrete evidence has ever been found for their existence. As forests and wilderness spaces on the continent are depleted, the number of sightings has increased by 248% since 2011. There are thousands of reports in North America alone. There's something out there that we're coming into contact with more and more.

McCort's analysis is unable to confirm the creature's identity, but he does believe the video is genuine. It doesn't seem like there's any cuts, special effects, or anything like that. But maybe there's something going on like a man in a monkey suit that has to be considered. If an ordinary human were to do that, they would need super strength. McCord establishes the size and weight of the tree thrown by the apparent humanoid creature in the footage. It looks to be about 12 ft long. have calculated that the projectile travels from left to right about 40 ft. That would mean this tree weighs around

175 lbs. Matt Kutcher has worked for over 20 years as a Hollywood explosives and ballistics expert. To find out if a human is capable of doing it, Koocher wants to know how much force it takes to make a log of this size fly the 40ft distance seen in the footage. That's what this experiment will be. It'll be us with a log seeing just how to get something that heavy to fly through the air. Koocher thinks he's got the perfect tool for the job. Come on in. Don't be scared. The water's fine. Let's go. So, what we have here is a car flipper. It's what we use at Hollywood. It flips cars, buses, boats. But today, we're actually going

to put this log on it and try to mimic what we've seen in that video. But first, his team needs to modify the rig so that it can hurl the tree trunk in a forward direction. Let's bolt this piece on and get this log on it. We're going to need a forklift to get us all the way right. The flipper operates using pressurized nitrogen gas. Let's go ahead and fill this thing with air and make this go. Kutcher can adjust the amount of gas being used to launch the log the distance seen in the video.

Okay, what do you got now? We're at about 500 PSI on the high side. Koocher begins by loading the pneumatic canisters with around 600 lb per square in of pressure, the flipper's minimum operating force. We're at 600 now on the high side. Excellent. Here we go. Disconnect. Let's go. So, gentlemen, let's get in places. Make sure all the cameras are rolling and get this thing to fall like she's in the forest. All right, we ready? All right, let's go. Hot. Three, two, one. Timber. I mean, come on. Is that not fun or what? It's amazing. It took a lot of force to get it there, but it seems like we've hit the uh 20 and 40.

The log is hurled almost 40 ft, a similar distance as the tree trunk in the footage, but Kutcher doesn't believe this proves an ordinary person is capable of this mighty feat. So, the average human could exert somewhere around 200 lb of force. This at 600 PSI is about 40,000 lb of force. That's a heck of a lot more than a human. That means whoever chucked this log is 200 times stronger than a normal human being. Not even Martins lees, 2019's World's Strongest Man, has that kind of power. There's got to be something we're missing in this video. Something we're not seeing, right? Like, what is it that possibly could throw something that hard and that far?

Construction site workers in the Canadian wilderness are terrified by an incredibly powerful humanoid figure that seems to pitch a 175lb tree over 40 ft across the ground. No ordinary person could do what is captured in the footage. Military historian Marty Morgan considers if loggers could be using a top secret machine-like suit that gives them the muscle to move heavy logs. So, the superhuman strength that we're seeing demonstrated in this film footage may have been created through the use of an exoskeleton system. There's an actual suit that's under development called the Guardian XO suit.

Its intended purpose is for like the construction industry. This would be a way that you would enable a worker to accomplish more. You can imagine somebody perhaps testing a prototype of the suit in a wilderness and maybe kind of a logging camp kind of environment. But after Kevin Casy studies the footage, he suspects this might be a powerful animal native to Alberta. In the Canadian woods, the apex predator is probably the grizzly bear. So, it could be what we're seeing there. Grizzly bears can weigh up to 1,700 lb and can easily lift over a half a ton. But they don't have arms like us. They have four legs. It's not physically possible for them to throw an object in the way seen in the footage.

We do know examples where bears play with rocks or manipulate them and possibly even throw them a little bit. But the idea of a single-handed launch of something like a javelin, to my knowledge, is completely new. One animal that does possess both the strength and dexterity to chuck a tree trunk in the style seen in the video is the silverback gorilla. The male can easily lift 1,800 lb and if in danger will aggressively defend their territory, but that's still not powerful enough to explain the incredible strength seen in the footage. There's no way of knowing what we're seeing in these woods. Whatever it is, it's big and it's powerful. But we do know that if you're working in the outdoors and you see whatever that was that threw

that tree that far, I don't think you'd want to venture off alone. An American monster hides out in southern pastures. Farm animals drained of blood, fang marks on their neck. Many believe tales of a vampire dog are a myth until something strange is captured on camera. It is the most unusual animal that I have ever seen in my entire life. This thing is on the loose in Texas. In southern Texas, Sheriff Joe Zveseski's police department presides over a remote rural area.

Dwood County is a large county, 910 square miles. There are a lot of uninhabited areas of the county. the more the population spreads out, you begin to see more of these animals or creatures that uh you didn't really know inhabited the same county you did. On August 8th, 2008, two deputies are on a routine patrol down a country road. Their dash cam captures a bizarre creature. This animal is a little bit more than weird. It's unnatural. They did not know what it was. It seems doglike, but this misshapen animal is no ordinary canid. It's almost got an alien look to it. It's got pointed ears that stick up a top its head. It's got

an elongated snout, fangs, protruding canines. first instinct is to be repulsed. The deputies believe this is evidence of a legendary blood sucking vampire dog. In South Texas, this close to Mexico, there has always been legends of different animals. We have uh this mythical creature called the chupacabra. Descriptions of the chupacabra vary throughout the Americas, but in Texas it takes the form of a hideous blood sucking hellhound with a growing reputation. More and more stories came out about these livestock that were killed in the strange manner and these were all attributed to el chupacabbras. And there is strange supporting evidence that a blood sucking monster is terrorizing Texas.

Nutritionist Dr. Phyllis Canyon owns a ranch in Dwit County. In 2007, an unidentified beast slaughters her livestock. Its method of attack is chilling. Whatever was getting in was just killing one chicken and leaving it. Always open up in that thorax area and that's where they would lick all the blood out. Never touch the meat. They were just sucking all the blood out of it. Experts acknowledge that on rare occasions when something spooks a predator, it may leave similar bite marks. What happens is a dog or coyote will attack an animal. They'll bite it on the neck and then they'll run away and the animal

will die from internal hemorrhaging. But on Phyllis Canyon's farm, this is not a rare event. It's a persistent way of feeding. It happened through 28 chickens. 28 chickens were identical. It craves blood and not the meat. The vampire beast stays in the shadows until Phyllis has a close encounter with the Macob creature. Something caught my eye. And when I looked over, I am shocked. I've seen a lot of things, but I've never seen an animal that looked like that.

The chance sighting leads Phyllis to a chilling conclusion. Whatever it was that I was seeing was killing my chickens. The sheriff's department hears of Phyllis's sightings and shows her their video for comparison. The creature she saw in her pasture exactly matches the beast on the dash cam. That moment that it looks to the side was the icing on the cake. The top mandible was longer than the bottom mandible and it was very evident. It is the most unusual animal that I have ever seen in my entire life. [snorts] Dr. Canyon makes it her mission to identify the bizarre beast. I didn't know what I had seen. I had no idea. Whatever it is, I'm gonna find out.

Investigators study the video's details to try to explain the bizarre creature. One freakish feature of the beast is its strange hairless hide. It was kind of a bluish gray and it looked like you were looking at the skin of an elephant on it. It looked rough. At first, researchers suggest the lack of fur could be consistent with a parasitic infection. Animals get what's called mange, and it's a skin disease caused by mites. The mange mite burls down in the skin uh and it actually makes the hair fall out in little areas and the skin kind of crusts over. But a skin infection cannot explain the

other distinctive features in the footage. It turns his head to the side and his profile is really weird. This thing is strange. Searching for answers, investigators speculate if the beast's appearance could result from modern farming methods. Chemical contamination can artificially alter genes. There are chemicals that if they're exposed to growing fetuses can cause mutations and cause the offspring to be a mutant.

Could the vampire beast be a man-made abomination? Researchers struggle to explain dash cam evidence of a bizarre predator in Texas. Some suggest the beast may be the victim of a chemical mutation. We do live in a farming and ranching area in this part of South Texas. Um there are chemicals that are put out uh that some animal could come into contact with. Perhaps the creature in this footage is the product of some mutation from when it was in the womb. Chemical mutations can create nightmarish deformities. But rather than showing signs of a debilitating birth defect, the Texas vampire seems to be thriving.

It's clearly well adapted to the environment and is a very fast predator, able to avoid people and still find enough food and therefore pass their genes on to the next generation. Experts remain puzzled, but a phone call finally gives Dr. Canyon a chance to identify this bloodthirsty predator. The chupacabra met its demise when somebody hit it with a car on the highway. The flesh and blood version of a mythical beast is now in her grasp. I could actually start to study it and figure out what it was. To get an accurate reconstruction of the beast's bizarre features, she hires a taxiderermist.

And the result reveals a Frankenstein combination of animal parts. The texture of the skin reminds me of some type of an elephant hide. The forehead width is that of a wolf. The bottom mandible is about an inch shorter than the top mandible. When we look at the animal and we put all of these abnormalities together, the mystery still is what is this? But Phyllis now has access to the beast's genetic blueprint. Veterinary forensics experts at UC Davis in California process a cell sample and send back the results.

I had the DNA and as I sat there and read it, I was totally amazed. They said it does not fit any animal that we have in our DNA bank. It had coyote on the maternal side and Mexican wolf on the paternal side. The mythical chupacabra exists as a strange hybrid beast with an apparent thirst for blood. And this specimen's not the only one out there. A growing number of sightings suggests it's invading America. There may be 10, 15 hundreds of them running around out there. Who knows? in remote areas of the county.

I got a picture from Florida of one that was dead along the side of the road and I will tell you it looked exactly like mine. Bash Cortisan, a vast province in southwest Russia. 7:30 p.m. A group of friends drive through the countryside when something moving in nearby undergrowth catches their attention. They're filming from the back seat and a figure appears in the distance Only two. [screaming] This thing seems to be naked, covered in hair, and extremely aggressive.

Holy cow. It's got giant arms flailing all over the place. It is moving quickly. The teenagers scream in terror as it catches up to the speeding car. It isn't moving like humans do. It's kind of throwing itself forward. Very ape-like, the desperate driver accelerates away from the rapidly approaching creature, his passengers hysterical with fear. I don't speak Russian, but that is the universal language of terror. Russia's land mass is the same size as the dwarf planet Pluto, over 6 million square miles, and dense forest covers over 45% of the entire country, more than the forests of Brazil and the

United States combined. Anthropologist Dustin Groick looks at the menacing gate of the creature and thinks there could be a violent prehistoric ancestor hiding in the Russian woods. The way it's moving, kind of hunched over, doesn't appear to be the form of a modern human. So, I'm wondering if we're looking at something that is more of an archaic human form, potentially that of something like a Neanderl. Neanderthalss brutally dominated Europe and Asia for over 200,000 years. Archaeologists have discovered that Neanderthalss had the same size brain as modern humans. But a team at the University of California find in February 2021 that

they were wired very differently with genes that made their minds more primitive than homo sapiens. They may have had much higher levels of testosterone, and archaeologists have found they were aggressive cannibals who feasted on children, babies, and newborns. Mainstream science says they were wiped out 40,000 years ago. But here in the Russian wilderness, strange and terrifying stories persist. There's a long, long history of evidence that these creatures could exist in this area, the very area where this car chase was filmed. In 2016, two tourists said they saw what looked like a Neanderthal man run out in front of their car at night as they

drove near Mount Irl here in the Bash Cordistan region. If I were looking for a Neanl population, the Russian wilderness is a great place to start. It's expansive. It's not highly populated. Great place to hide. In 2012, Russian officials issue a press release claiming to have evidence that a Neanderthalike creature inhabits a cave. They found unusual hairs in the cave and they brought them to a lab for testing. Professor Valentine Sappernov says the DNA analysis led him to over 60% certainty that the hairs belong to a large ape-like creature closely related to humans but different. So

this raises a lot of questions about this creature we're seeing through the rear view mirror of this car. Could we actually be witnessing a Neanderthal here alive in modern times? Compared to modern humans, Neanderls are more muscular. They're hairy. All of which lead me to believe that what we're looking at here could potentially be a Neanderl. It would be remarkable if Neanderthalss have somehow survived for 40,000 years undetected. But historian Dr. Karen Bellinger wonders if this inhuman creature may not be a prehistoric relic at all. But a Neanderthal man created recently in a Russian lab.

In Russia is a really interesting scientific experiment which is called Pletoine Park and it's basically been an attempt to recreate the landscape and the wildlife of the last ice age. Scientist Sergey Zemoff has been repopulating the Russian wilderness since 1988 with descendants of animals that have been extinct for over 10,000 years. We're talking the when predators such as saber-tooth tigers and the woolly mammoth wandered the plains. You know, brutal animal species.

Zemoth hopes to use cloned woolly mammoth to populate his park. He took a page right out of the book of the guy who created Jurassic Park in the movies. Well, we know how well that turned out, don't we? The research has inspired the ultimate ice age call back, an attempt to recreate a living Neanderthal. A research team aimed to use genome engineering to alter the DNA in a human cell so it matches that of a Neanderthal. But have the Russian authorities got there first, hijacking Zemoff's work to create Neo Neanderthalss, potential super soldiers of the future?

Could the creature that was chasing the car been resurrected from a prehistoric time? But there's a problem with the Neanderthal theory. Looking at this creature, even on the run through the window of a fleeing car, it's obviously much larger than a typical human. Neanderthalss were much broader than modern humans and possessed greater muscle mass, but they were stocky. The average male Neanderthal skeleton is just 5'4 in, around the same height as Napoleon. Whatever is chasing these

teens appears to be at least 7 ft tall. In Bash Corduristan, Russia, teenagers flee in terror as an enraged giant bounds after their car with an animalistic fury. But biologist Craig Zulgget checks reports and finds these kids could have captured one of Russia's deadliest criminals. This region has been terrorized since 2011 by someone called the Vulga Maniac. This is a serial killer who's killed at least 23 people that we know of. And it's happened right in this area. And the vulgar maniac isn't alone.

Russia's serial killers include Andre Chicatilo, who in 1992 was convicted of sexually assaulting, mutilating, and murdering at least 50 women and children. 20 years later, Male Popco is convicted of killing 78 women who he murdered as a twisted punishment for his wife's infidelity. Black Dolphin Prison is a 200-year-old fortress located near where this footage was shot. Escape was always thought impossible. But in 2016, an inmate serving time for violent robbery breaks out into the surrounding countryside. The authorities claim to have recaptured him a month later. It sounds like these guys were right to be scared of this thing, whether it was supernatural or not.

No escaped convicts were reported at the time the video was shot, leaving the exact identity of this teenager terrorizing man beast a mystery. They may have thought it was a Bigfoot. They may have thought it was a serial killer, but I certainly don't blame them for putting their pedal to the metal and getting out of there. Now, northern Saskatchewan, Canada, near the hamlet of Stony Rapids. September 9th, 2015. A man is walking his dog in the woods.

His pet senses something is wrong. Then he sees it himself lurking between the trees. What is this thing? It looks massive. There's a giant figure crouching close to the ground as though lying in weight. There's no doubt it could take you down. Moments later, the beast launches itself at the dog. No, no, no, no, no. Oh, God. The dog's bark turns from one of warning to sheer terror. Its owner yells and drops his camera.

I don't blame the guy for dropping the camera cuz this looked like it was going to kill his dog. The man and his dog flee. This is a really terrifying clip. If you were to see something like this in the woods, you definitely better be running. Saskatchewan's woods cover over 84 million acres of the province, over twice the size of Florida, and are home to the Canadian timberwolf. But these wild creatures hunt in packs and generally stay far away from human settlements. Wolves are really species of the wilderness and they're generally pretty afraid of people. So, it's very unusual to see them come this close to where people live.

Lyall Blackburn finds local reports going back centuries of a huge canine creature in these woods. European settlers called it the Lugaroo. Legends describe a creature with formidable fangs and incredible strength. It wasn't just folklore. Newspapers were issuing warnings to people so they wouldn't be attacked. It must have been absolutely terrifying. Some believed the lugaroo truly was a supernatural creature. Perhaps an evil man transformed into a gigantic black wolf. This is sort of like the ultimate werewolf. If there's anybody out there who still does believe in lugaroos, I think they'll probably look at this footage and think they've just seen one.

Chad Orzel examines the footage and is reminded of a ferocious prehistoric creature who was known to roam the woods of southern Canada. packs of giant animals called direwolves used to live in this part of the country and they looked just like this. Direwolves, so named for their aggressive nature, hunted prey across North America during the Pletosene epoch over 10,000 years ago. Direwolves were built like modern greywolves, but they were about 25% bigger. If any of them were alive today, they'd probably be behaving just like this creature.

Hey, these terrifying mega mammals could take down a mastadon, but current science suggests they became extinct at the end of the last ice age. A project in Oregon has been attempting to breed canines that look just like direwolves since 1987. These animals aren't real direwolves. They lack the aggression and ferocity of their ancient ancestors. But could others be attempting to create the real thing in the primordial forests of Saskatchewan? That's the kind of experiment that could get out of hand.

The revival of extinct creatures is no longer fantasy. A team of scientists in the US are working on bringing back prehistoric species by engineering hybrid ancient DNA and implanting it into the egg of the animals modern descendant. Scientists are looking at bringing back the woolly mammoth using its closest living relative, the Asian elephant. Biologists have no idea how controllable or aggressive these creatures would be. A study in 2021 found that so-called direwol skeletons shared very little DNA with wolves, dogs, or coyotes. They were a totally unique prehistoric beast with no known living relatives. It would be incredibly hard to bring them back.

Deextinction science is still in its infancy even when it is being handled by the top scientists. It's highly unlikely that a successful rebirth would happen outside of human knowledge. So, this must be something else. Orzel discovers disturbing reports of modern wolves in the area suddenly behaving in unnatural ways. Northern Saskatchewan is a hotbed for wolf attacks. There have been many sightings of wolves getting close to people and sometimes even going on the attack. North Saskatchewan has had three attacks on adult men in just 12 years, one of them fatal. In the rest of Canada, there hasn't been a lethal wolf attack on humans for decades.

They seem to have lost their fear of humans. Whatever is causing this change in temperament of the wolf could be deadly. In northern Saskatchewan, Canada, eerie footage shows a man and his dog confronted by an aggressive creature. Biologists think it's one of North America's 60,000 wild wolves displaying unusually hostile behavior. [snorts] Their very large size makes it extremely difficult for a human to win a fight against them, but normally humans wouldn't have to worry about getting attacked by a timberwolf. Reports have been growing in the region of wolves losing their fear of humans and going on the hunt. In 2004, a worker is heading home when he is savagely attacked by a wolf. He suffers severe bites to his back, arm,

and pelvis before being rescued by colleagues. Then in 2016, a local security guard discovers a crazed wolf with its jaws around the neck of a kitchen worker. So, what's going on in this region that could be setting these wolves off? Researchers studying wolf attacks on Vancouver Island, Western Canada, believe the problem is people. Over a six-year period, they recorded 51 dangerous wolf encounters, including seven dog fatalities. And it's a trend seen across northern America. That dog is lucky to get out alive. Industries like mining, logging, and tourism are pushing communities deeper into the wilderness, bringing more humans into contact with wolves. And man's invasion of this wilderness may only get worse. [snorts]

Since the end of the 20th century, over 10 million acres of Saskatchewan's land has been appropriated for commercial use. While more than a quarter of a million tourists visit this area every year. As wolves observe humans up close, they lose their fear of us and see us instead as a feast. It's certainly possible that's what we're seeing in the video. The message is clear. Avoid close contact with wild wolves. If you started trying to run from this thing, forget it. You'd never make it. You can never outrun this thing.
