A Letter to the Person Who Wants End It. | Transcript:

You're hearing these words and that means that you're here. Your heart is beating. Your lungs are breathing. And I know that right now that might feel less like a blessing and more like a sentence. A cosmic joke. You're trapped in a body that won't let you go while your mind is screaming for the exit. I want you to close your eyes for just a second or just soften your gaze and let everything go blurry. And imagine your pain is a room. A room you've been living in for a very long time. The walls are somehow painted in the shades of your worst memories. The windows are boarded up with every failure you've ever faced. And the air is thick with the weight of what ifs and if onlys.

And you're in the middle of this room and you've decided that the only way out is to burn the whole thing to the ground. I understand. I truly do. But before you strike the match I need you to listen to me. There is a part of you, the deepest, most exhausted part of you that is still looking for a reason to not light that match. That part of you is here listening to this. It's the last stubborn, beautiful piece of your soul that remembers the sun. It's the pilot light that hasn't gone out. Don't let it.

There is still an ancient survival instinct and it is not your enemy. It's your most loyal friend begging you for one more second. One more hour. One more day. Look at your hands. They have held things. They've created things. They've wiped away your own tears. They've bandaged a wound. They've petted an animal. They've written your name. Your body is the living journal of everything you have ever survived. Every scar is a sentence. Every wrinkle is a paragraph. To end it now is to burn the

greatest story you will ever own. A story that is still being written. And you're the hero of the story. And heroes don't quit in the final act. They face the dragon. Do you think you're invisible? Do you think that your presence doesn't matter? You [snorts] have no idea. You have no idea that the song you hummed under your breath was the exact song a person on the bus needed to hear to remember their mother.

You have no idea that the barista you saw this morning was on the brink of quitting and your thank you made them feel human for the first time all day. You have been creating meaningful ripples that you will never see since the moment you arrived. So, please don't burn the room down. Your ripples can create waves that help others stop burning if you stay. Please don't burn the room down. There are messages in bottles carried by those waves and you haven't found them all. But, here's one sent to you across a digital ocean
