I am a Disney adult. All right. Hi, I'm Daniel and I'm a huge Disney fan. Yeah. I'm Danny. I'm also a big Disney fan. I'm Angelica. I'm a huge Disney adult. I am totally a Disney adult, but I'm a total Disney teacher as well. Like, if Disney totally had a daycare, I got it. I'm Avery and I am also a massive Disney adult. I'm Amy and I'm a huge Disney adult. I'm Eric. I feel like I'm a Disney adult third and then like a theme park enthusiast second and then a Disney dad number one. Okay, my baby. I am so
honored and overjoyed and grateful that I get to be a Disney dad. I get to take my wonderful baby to the park like four or five times a week. It's the absolute best. I just hope my kid doesn't grow up thinking that every kid gets to do that. My name is Leah and I am a huge Disney adult. What's the logo on your Disney account on your Disney? So, it's actually an avatar of Riddle Rosearts from Twisted Wonderland. I don't know if any of you guys have heard of it. It's a Disney Japan property. And I'm actually wearing ears for it. These are custom made by the Imagineer Design Co. Nice. Does everyone have Disney Plus here?
Yes. I wonder who everyone's avatar is. Miss Piggy. You can tell by the extra of I want to see it's Jasmine. That's the one I remember last having. Do you change them? So, my Disney Plus avatar is actually I've never seen Zootopia, but it's Speed the Sloth, the guy, you know, and he is like my spirit animal, my spirit brother, my spirit. I love this sloth Mutopia even though I've never seen the movie which on me but for each of you do you have another like spirit animal or character like that's my personally can't stand the DMV so but I would say mine is Pinocchio personally for me I think the reason that I love Pinocchio is because his
story is about reformation and transformation I love that he's not actually a real boy right away he has to earn that and that's how we all are as humans we need to earn our way through good values being nice to other people being kind and that's how you meet a real human being. And I think showing that through a wooden doll, I think, is really beautiful. So, I love Pinocchio. Yeah. Oh my god. That's not where I thought she was going. I thought she was I just like Pleasure Island. Is Belle and I love Belle because she's she likes to read. She's really smart and she's like has like a I don't give a attitude and like this like
f everything and I'm just different. And I just I've always like been attracted to that. Even though she's a girl, I just felt like I can I don't know. I just felt related to her. I think as a gay dude, we can relate a lot to Disney princesses specifically because they're running from home. They're usually trying to obtain something that's they can't find at home. And this usually involving like some I don't fit in. I don't belong here, which is very relatable to like the gay experience. Mine is Sid from Toy Story, which is a little dark. You know, it's not as deep and as beautiful and uh it's not about transformation. He was just funny. When I was a kid, my older brother, for some reason, got a soldering iron as a
Christmas present one year. So, we were like, "Incredible. Time to see it out." We took a bunch of my sister's toys and cut the heads off and put them all together just like had a real SID moment. And it was bad. We burned ourselves a lot and we wasted a lot of uh good Barbie dolls, but we loved it. So, how do you guys feel about the parks? I know for me personally, I'm Disneyland through and through, but specifically like Fantasy Land. I love Fantasy Land. And I love Disneyland, but I just want to throw out some love to DCA cuz California Adventure is my park. I love it. Little Yellow Cup Social Club, grab a little beer. You know what I mean?
I've only ever been once and to Disneyland. I moved in June. I went immediately in August. And I mean, the bubble's real, the magic is real. Like, I was going to say I've actually never been to a theme park ever cuz Okay, first of all, I was born in Wisconsin and there's nothing there. And we were dirt poor because we had like 17 kids to feed. So, we never got a chance to go to Disney. But now that I'm an adult, it's a wrap. I'm going to Disney any chance that I can get. But when you finally go to a park, what do you think you want to ride first? I don't even care. I just want to like go and just like the bubble. I just want to go.
Honestly, there's you park the car and the magic is on. The minute they scan you, I want to go to Avengers Campus. Yeah. How many dollars fee? 35 or more. And then the magic kind of goes away and you go back in the parks like it's okay. Memory on to mind. So, how much money do you guys think you spend like on Disney fandom? Just like at the parks or movies, Disney park. Woman after my own heart. Honestly, I will say I'm a little bit spoiled. Um, my boyfriend's um like family works there. So, I get to go for free and because he's my
boyfriend and he pays for me, he buys me stuff. I'm a little spoiled. A little bit. My bad. I feel like for my family, it's interesting cuz we live very close to the park. We're like walking distance. So, we have the magic keys and we will get food and we'll get stuff, but we don't spend on anything else. The keys are a lot. There's a new one that they just came out with that's $9.99. Um, which is pretty cool, but like $999. Yeah, I think that's the lowest, too. Yeah, that's the lowest. I actually don't spend a lot on Disney every year because I'm a little bit against Disney as a corporation personally. I feel like it's just very unethical.
I'm blind. I What? What do they Did they do something? I'm a avid believer of Walt Disney's vision for Disney. His philosophy was that we are not making movies to make money, but rather we make money to make more movies. Yes, money is but I'm trying to focus on what Walt Disney wanted and that was where dreams come true, imagination happens. It's never complete. Like that's what I'm focused on. Yeah. I mean, I think it's tough when you try to position yourself as a company that's like your backbone is magic and happiness. And then when you bring people involved, people suck. It's up to you to add good or bad people, but sometimes you don't know.
There's definitely a lot that we could do to support better businesses, but you know, everything in moderation. I don't know if this is moderation, but I will say besides today, you know, I'm doing a lot of things that might not be, you know, the best or supporting companies that might not be the best, but Disney brings me a lot of joy. I think it's all about like what you said and what you said, like it's about what you make out of the magic and creating that balance. As a gay woman, like for a while, I felt like Disney wasn't wholeheartedly u respecting the LGBTQIA plus community. When I was younger, I remember going to Disney World. I didn't know what a queer person was, but I started identifying that it was queer people wearing red.
Disney didn't put this on. This was just a fan and gay community thing that they brought to Disney. I don't remember which year it was. Disney started commercializing gay days because they do want to make it more enticing for every fan. They probably wanted to capitalize to be honest, which is fine. But just to your point, like there's kind of something for everyone at the Disney parks. And if there isn't, I think the community organically creates it, which is so beautiful. And Disney does not put a stop to it. I think Disney wants to be inclusive. I think about like Epcot cuz Epcot has, you know, the uh world showcase and all of the countries like that was an original idea when Epcot opened. And even small world, small world is
about inclusivity. And the opening ceremony was this gorgeous thing before. There's one Filipina doll on there. Yeah. Waiting for Armenia representation. Where is it? One day. I like how you can tell the majority is Disney adults cuz like hm who could it be? Well, everyone's great. Magical group. I don't know. This is not easy. I think it's very hard because everybody at least has some common knowledge about Disney. So, I think it's going to be really difficult to figure that out.
I voted for Daniel because he only was representing Marvel. He only had Marvel. Like I feel like a Disney adult has little hidden Mickeys here and there. I'm sorry. I'm so sorry. Jesus Lord. Okay. I chose Danny because I was like she is just too quiet for me. And most Disney fans are like me eccentric and loud. I'm sorry. She was just a little too quiet. Danny was really cool. got good vibes off her but kind of lowkey and at Disney adults a little bit ah she was less ah and more I'm Danny shut up wait it's been real everybody okay imagine you're lost in a giant
black void no landmarks no directions no clue where you're going hello then a map suddenly falls into your hands drawn by a guy who's never actually been there that's not guidance that's confidence with zero qualifications. The point is, not everyone offering to help actually knows what they're doing. And when the stakes are high, that matters. Thanks to Morgan and Morgan for sponsoring this portion of the episode. Now, let's get back to the video. Help anyone. Are you guys proud of being Disney adults? Like, is there any guilt? Do the insults which I know there's insults from family, friends or strangers ever get to you?
There's a negative stigma towards it because I think people when you become an adult, you lose the jovial, you lose the kidness, right? And so I think people are like, well, I have to be serious about everything and they don't want to. It's hard to like hold on to that childlike. So then it's easy to make fun of somebody who does hold on to that. When people say it's just for kids, I don't think they realize that Disney magic can also bring happiness to an adult. I mean, financially maybe not, but I can experience it alone or I can experience with others or I can even give that Disney magic outside of the parks. And I think that's amazing for any Disney adult to do.
I feel like I'm a proud Disney adult because like Disney kept popping up like in different places in my life. Like I worked there and then I got engaged actually at Disneyland Paris. That's awesome. Thank you. My wife's hands were sweating when we were waiting to meet French Mickey. Mickey gave me a piece of paper that said turn around and then when I turned around Laura was on one knee and it was the best day ever. It's just the same thing as somebody that has like AMC pass and goes to the movies all the time. Like you're just trying to feed like what makes you happy in this world that could be messy and crazy.
There was a time when I was shameful about it, but then you know one time I was out of college and I got my own money and I was like I actually know exactly what I want to spend that on. And for me, I'm big VHS, DVD, physical media collector. That's that's my thing. You have two loves, which makes me a little suspicious. Like, are you the hater? Are you the faker? That's a good point because it does feel like I'm too VHS for the Disney adults, and I'm too Disney adult for the VHS. You know what I mean?
I know you've talked a lot about Toy Story. I was wondering if you could give me like another movie or something that you really enjoy just to state your case. Incredibles. Incredibles is a big one. How about non- Pixar? Oh, Lilo and Stitch. Yeah, Lilo and Stitch. What's the main quote in Lilo and Stitch? Oh, Hana means family. Now, what is it in Japanese? No, I'm just kidding. So, real quick, just raise your hand if you're a millennial. Where my millennials at? Hello, Jenz.
I feel like millennials kind of get like a bad rap in general, but also I feel like so many Disney adults are millennials. We've kind of like crossed over and people associate the same thing. How do you guys feel about, you know, Disney adults who are, you know, Gen Z or older? Like, because it is all-encompassing, can be anyone. I'm 23 years old, so I haven't been a Disney adult for so many years, about 5 years now, right? Like literally one year old. I was watching uh Brother Bear, Nemo, because I was one when those came out. Uh, but it was very obvious that I was the oldest person here. And then it became even more clear as we started talking. I was gagged because of her knowledge. Her knowledge was like wild for her age. I
like to be called a Disney adult, but when I see criticism online, Disney adults that go to Disney and spend $35,000 on a 10day trip, I'm like, I could be in Japan for more than half a year with that. I fight with Gen Z a lot. I mean, for my sister, she is Gen Z. Me and my brother are both millennial. We're a year apart. We're like, oh, we're going to Disneyland like right now. What are you doing? And she's more like, don't you know what Disneyland does to people? Don't you really don't pay enough? I was like, nobody pays enough. I'm a teacher. So, when she said like, I see them spending like $35,000. I'm like, I could spend that on school books. I'm like, $35,000?
I wish I could do that. Just our Disney stuff. Do you know what my closet would look like? If you sit me down with my nieces and nephews, I will know more than they will. And it's quite it's sad. It's not sad. It's quite It's funny, but it's sad, I guess, to other people who are like, you know, I'm 40 years old and I, you know, but it is what it is. What do you think of the live action Little Mermaid? I It's fine. Do you have any like fun facts about Little Mermaid? Like I do have a fun fact that I don't think anybody in here would know, but Love it. Maybe next round.
Sure. Um, personally, I think I kissed one too many frogs. You wanted a drama. I'm sorry. Daniel came in with a Marvel t-shirt. So, are you really a fan? Starting round two, I think I had my eye focused in on Avery as the non-D Disney adult person. Do you really like Disney or do you like that VHS thing? I don't know, but it's throwing me for a loop. I voted for Leah the second round. I just felt like it was all knowledge. It was too serious for me as a Disney adult. Whoa. Oh my gosh. Damn. You guys didn't get my trivia.
It's okay. How could you? How I didn't get it. Okay. See you later, as they say. I have another mildly hot take. I feel like I was not necessarily for a Song of the South attraction being in the park for so long, but also the replacement of Tiana's Bayou River Venture is not as exciting as what Splash Mountain was. Even those It's cute, but I was really disappointed that they took it out. Like, yeah, so disappointed. I had all my little toddlers running around. We sing Zippity Dooah. Okay. We do not sing. That's another separate movie. Not a fan of the movie, but it's interesting. They replaced it with something where was like, "Oh, I thought you were going to do something really grand with this grand ride that
and a lot of people don't even associate it with that movie anymore." And most people didn't even know it was based on Song of the South until it was announced that they're changing it. So, I think that kind of shows the problem. I think that a lot of inclusivity at Disney when it comes to like the movies or the parks sometimes feels a little bit artificial like it doesn't feel like they're actually doing it because they care. They're doing it just because those groups and identities will come to the park and feel supported. And I feel like some modern Disney movies do that great.
I think Moana and Encanto are great examples of making such a creative story out of culture and um bringing in creatives from that culture as well. I guess my hot take is that I wish the inclusivity was done with a little bit more heart. Personally, I'm not a big fan of the live actions. I like the prequels like Kruella and all that, but the live actions I'm like you guys can't give me something new. Like New Snow White is my least favorite Disney. I didn't even watch it. I usually expect the live actions to be bad, so it's not really a surprise to me. But I would say my least favorite Disney movie I've ever seen and I've seen every single one is Wish. It
was supposed to be this 100th anniversary film and it had like a really good story at heart, but I think it just fell so flat and it makes me very frustrated that they couldn't have made like a new Fantasia for example. Interesting you said Fantasia because I remember that going on as a child I was like perfect nap time. Well, also when Disneyland opened in 1957, I think a lot of people, you know, had a different type of vibe and stuff like that. 57. Yeah. Oh, interesting. I tried to find the mole by saying things that weren't true that every Disney fan would know when I threw out that Disneyland started in 1957. I felt like someone was going to call me out on that. Hey, do you guys know Walt's
middle name? Elias in 1957 Disney California Adventure. But I'm like call it out. You're not right. Who can just shout out the newest land at the Disneyland Resort? Oh, the Frozen Disneyland. Disneyland one that's going to be created or that's already around. You guys know Galaxy's Edge. Oh, good for you. Was it he was the only one who knew? Good job to you, Avery. Do you think that Disney is only supposed to be for kids or do you think it's like okay for us? One of Walt's biggest quotes is that a happy place for all that we've built this
magical happy place for all to all who come to this happy place. Disneyland is your land, a land we're starting. I do believe that Disney is for kids. However, I believe as we age, there is still a kid in all of us and we need to nurture that child and listen to it. And if that's, you know, watching Disney movies, that makes a very specific part of me happy. I feel like as an a Disney adult, like it's kind of I mean, you know, as a dad, like our responsibility to give them that little magical moment that we had when we were children. I mean, sometimes I go by myself because, you know, I'm
recently divorced, so I needed my happy place. The minute we separated, I booked my ticket to Disney World. I was like, "Well, great. I'm going." And since then, I had the confidence to travel more, you know, as an individual. And I think Disney helped me get that confidence. Like I don't have to be in a group to be at Disneyland. I can be a single writer. I'm married and I go by myself. I'm like, "Babe, I'll see you later. I'm going to go to Trader Sam's and Monterey." Yeah. Like green beans at Trader Sam. Oh my goodness. The green beans with the What kind of dip is it? It's like a Chipotle. Yes, it is. It's delicious.
What is a dip? WDI stand for WDI. Walt Disney's Imagineering. Great job. Awesome. Wonderful. I really like how you know a lot and you're very knowledgeable and I think I walked into this thinking like whoever talks the least or talks the most might be a little suspect. Do you have anything to say in response to that? That might be a nice defense. I think that my trivia has no bounds when it comes to Disney. And I think I'm talking a lot because it's just things that I'm like confident about. I feel like you are like interested in Disney, but I don't know. I feel like you know too much about the good and bad of it. And like I said, I'm a Disney adult, so I'm very naive. Like I'm very I feel like at this point there's like a
little too much truth going around. You know what I mean? It's like if you did if you didn't get engaged at Disney, like wow. You know what I mean? Like I'll feel betrayed. What if I wasn't even gay? Just kidding. I'm definitely [clears throat] home. A candy episode. I deeply adore you. But I was like, what if the preschool teacher actually didn't like Disney and like you heard from a lot of moms, like maybe about like terrible things that they've experienced at Disney just by who knows. It's hard. I really feel like we got the mole. But if I had to say one person I'm a little bit suspicious of, it would be Avery.
And that's only because he kind of went more into like specific movies being like, "Oh, I like Toy Story. I like things from Pixar specifically." But at the end of the day, Pixar is still its own thing, right? And so I mean I know it's technically Disney, but is there something Avery you can like defend your case a little bit more? Because you did mention Toy Story a lot. Is there another I like what I like. What's another movie you're like I can't live without you like I'm big into the decoms. I'm I'm into like the weird like post Renaissance like revival, you know, like that's So Raven. If that doesn't make me a Disney adult, then like sue me. But like I like
What do you think about Incredibles 2? I think Incredibles 2 and Toy Story 2 are the perfect sequels. And this is not retaliatory, but Lee, I think your trivia Oh, caught in the middle. Your trivia sounds like Wikipedia entries and like perfectly like perfectly practiced three sentence like this is what it is. Did you know this? And it's like perfect facts. The only person who I know is real is me. Everyone else I'm like I think we did probably vote out the mole already, but not one also. Like I know we went a little bit.
There's my friend over here, but from a little 411 perspective, there's like hidden like Toy Story things under when I saw that like I'm like Disney Adults Incorporated a little bit everywhere. You know, they sold plain ones too and I said no Avery. Oh, hey. Good luck. It was close, Sid. See you later. I miss you, Sid. This has been very stressful and I think we got the mole. Am I 100%? I don't think so. But I would feel confident not moving forward.
I'm kind of in the same position. I'm actually very comfortable with this. I don't want to suspect you, but I do only because you're saying things trying to catch us to slip up. That's a real Disney person. worth cutting the prize down. It's like the four of you have decided to end the game here. If the box turns red, the mole is still in this group. If the box turns green, you caught the mole and you win the money. Three, two, ONE. [screaming] YAY! You love Disney. Sid, where are you? Is it Sid? I hope it's not Sid. I like the Sid guy. Three, two, one.
[screaming] Behind me. I even defended him. He stood right next to me. I did not think it was Avery. I had no idea. I was bamboozled, gagged. I was right from the beginning. I knew it. Well, you got me. I mean, I was born in the '9s, so I grew up watching Disney, and then I stopped. A Yeah, I think there's a fine line between adults enjoying Disney and adults getting in the way of children uh enjoying it, and I think they flirt with that line. I think Legoland has figured it out. As an adult at Legoland, you have to have a child. You are not allowed to enter the park without one. I think Disney should look into that rule.
You can leave. Is that your t-shirt and your hat? No, no, no. This is my friend JM's. This I got on Amazon and left in the sun for 3 days. So, it looked a little We got miked up together. We should know. I started voting for you towards the end because it was a lot of Toy Story repetition over and over. And I told I had one trick in the book, baby. You did play really well when you were talking about like Leah's like Wikipedia stuff. You just jumped on my bandwagon. I had to. I Yeah, I wasn't going to have it in my own opinion.
I did once and it didn't work. I never once thought you. I'm upset we never got your little mermaid fact. You would have got it wrong. There's one thing that I really love about the Disney adult community and it's the positivity and the joy and the passion and the excitement. So to win with this crew, it was all those feelings and more cuz we won together. We eliminated two Disney adults which sorry, but hey, I won so I'm still chilling. I'm happy. I'm obviously like, you know, a psychedelic Disney girl. I obviously wore my, you know, Disney rainbow garb. I also like have a lot of Disney tattoos. The mushroom
Fantasia, which that's kind of like a if, if you know, you know. And then I have the castle with like some trinkets. And then I also have a hidden Mickey like behind my ear. Disney is everything to my family. Like no matter if we were busy, no matter if we had money, we didn't have money, we were going to Disneyland for a whole day. My mom had us matching outfits. And my dad woke up at 4:00 a.m. to pack us each individual backpacks. And now seeing it as adult and seeing all the sacrifices that they made for us, I realized being a Disney adult is just creating that magic for other people. Whether it's my students, my nieces, even my parents. We surprised them with tickets to Disneyland when my niece graduated preschool because we just wanted that magical
moment. Ready, guys? All right. I can buy a pretzel now. And I have two pretzels. We're going to the Disney parks, everyone. Absolutely. We're going for one like really good. I'm rich now, so you can Oh, we can swim. [screaming]
