i just realized i put on this t-shirt for a reason but it's too bloody good to show it you follow me on instagram then you already know this the van is finished and we have already been away in her those videos will come first i wanted to catch you all up on things that we had to do to the van to finish her off and get her into a state where she could be on the road and hopefully not break down let's catch you up let's jump back and see where we left off from the last video so scott's going on with some electronical work today but i thought i'd give you a little bit of a look-see so as you saw in the last video it's all been carpeted all that has been painted at the top you can't see that's great hold on two seconds not bad
there we go all right yeah so as you've seen it's all carpeted buscar has now put the board down for the floor hooray it's all coming together okay so something really exciting that i wanted to share and i had no idea that this was even a thing that you could do but we received her birth certificate she has a birth certificate why it's a heritage letter no it's a birth certificate it's way cuter if it's a birth certificate you basically just contact volkswagen do you just message them on the website or email them well it's dead weird because like on the forums managed to get like uh like an email address and i was like really you just emailed this thing and i emailed it never got any reply through coronavirus yeah it was pretty wild back
then i did it again and they wrote back um so yeah you can ask when um your car was manufactured basically because on our logbook it says that this uh volkswagen t25 was manufactured in 1983. scott wanted to double check because we are so close to her becoming a classical car at 40 years um and we found out that she was born on the 10th of may 1982. she is two years away not even that at this point from officially properly glowing on black plates looking at you glover and she will be counted as a classic car so you can get this comes on beautiful card it's signed it's a heritage letter and that is the time it says i hereby declare that the vehicle with the above chassis number was manufactured on the 10th of may 1982. all right so
scott is getting ready well she's getting the lady ready for her mot next week make sure she passes um so she's doing a little electrical work darling well i gotta get all the lights working so that would help yeah we did a test and found out that the uh reverse light doesn't really work and things like that so today as well oh excellent exciting basically when you put it in reverse there's like a little plunger that plunges in a switch on the gearbox and it's like if i hold the gear stick down it comes on so what i might be able to do is take it out and if there's a washer on there take the washer off screw it back in so it's further in and then hopefully that'll fix it and we
just had to give the wheel some love because it was going to go in for a remote and we're going to get new wheels anyway so we um give them a little bit of a spray hello so um i'm gonna get ali to spray paint these wheels yeah um i've got two off the back so basically what's gonna happen is these are the wheels that have cleaned up not very well um they've still got a bit of like silver paint on them but ah there are any wheels the middle around this lip have got these chrome sort of domes that are gonna go on and then the bit that you're gonna see is basically from here to here and then i'm gonna put these fake white walls on and then we're gonna put new tires on so it doesn't matter if the tires get a
bit paint on them what we're gonna do is first we're gonna wipe primer and then we're gonna i've gone for this sort of ford ivory color it is a couple of hours later and scott had to do a full service on the van which he did himself which included um changing the fuel line and also changing the oil and all the fun stuff that i was totally interested in okay guys so um as you can see i'm just currently changing the oil i basically um started the engine let it get up to temperature this in for 20 minutes let it run and as you can see i'm draining it from basically like the particle catcher under the engine because the sump plug
someone's rounded it off before i even touched it so i can't get it out so i'm just gonna leave that in there i can stay forever don't really know what i'm doing but yeah just watch a few youtube videos and uh you know try and do it yourself save some money so obviously the most important thing we needed a floor so the board was down we went to b and q and we made the floor just we have a fabulous floor now nice toy
okay so fun story we didn't think ahead and you know buy an extra pack or something um so we just had to rush out to being cute and get another one hopefully it's the right color so this one looks like pop rock vinyl peel and stick plank easter cut yes seven in here and we should need six so let's see it was my job to finish off all the installation around the front of the cab which obviously nailed i also did all the dash to make it look all black and stuff just made a huge difference and all the carpets are down so uh today ali is gonna help me out we were gonna go for a drive today and i was planning last week to stay overnight in it um this weekend storm alex is here apparently um and
there's still holes there's holes in the floor which aren't properly sealed i've just sealed them with duct tape for now so i didn't like want water pissing in um ali is going to finish off with this insulation stuff i've got some left over so i'm gonna get you to do like this section here and up here up there and here yeah oh i mean you can't i can't buy this so at the moment um what i've done is i've connected up the little fuse board so on the outside of the van i know it's messy and i am electrician but that's as good as it gets um there's a plug on the outside of the van which i need a lead
for which plugs into the side of the van and then plugs into like a campsite mains so um i've got three cables coming out of it here one is a 10 amp circuit which is going to the i don't know smart charger and two cables coming out of it and they're going to go to these little sockets um and then yeah and ali has done the best work installation around here up here around here up here lovely job we've been testing out the van a little bit because we've never really been in here together have we well for a while and it's cold and windy outside and i've got a bit of condensation building up not masses amount and but it's really warm in here as well yeah it is the installation's done a good job wasn't it yeah so yeah it just came time to screw a few things
into place why are some plugs up done and get all of the cushions from the shed which were just in a vile condition so guys um as you can see from 1982 they had very nice design pattern for the cushions we're talking about for ages when we like we wanted to change these get them reupholstered yeah and i was in the conservatory because basically when i got the van i shoved everything in the conservatory and in the shed and i found a bag just before this is how crazy it is and it had these in and these were in a bag of licorice all sorts i know small bags of licorice all sorts i know but these came out and um we found these so these are like the new cushions covers so yay obviously foam inside of here beautiful at least they're clean and fresh yeah they're clean
like compared to that much better yeah we covered them with blankets velcroed on first one in at yeah any pads you know are they in buds oh my god this ain't bad not bad at all comfortable uncomfortable i'm coming off the cousins my god oh it's really red oh it's reflecting up this is gonna be great it's gonna be great but we were almost done at this point but a few cabinets needed to be finished off which was my job lacquering and painting let them dry throw them in screw them down and finish up the cabinets so they can go in so i just got a lack of that and that needs sand and everything like this was the worst one falling apart it was but we wanted to keep them all original so scott literally spent just i think it was a whole day
you were getting a headache from this can't even argue can't even deny this is some stunning work right here and then that was it the last thing this guy had to do was install the diesel heater which he did um because that is crucial now we are in november and if we ever want to go away in it oh um loosely got the diesel heater set up at the minute the
pump is clicking away and the diesel is reached here already so you can see it like moving up into the filter that's not the original filter either it's one up off the of this fan actually so she is done we have already been away in her and here is what's gonna happen i just didn't want to jump into a van vlog or anything like that without kind of catching you all up i never think we had to finish off with the van so that was this video um there is going to be the vlog which i cannot wait to edit uh but there'll be another video before that which is think a little bit more fun that i thought of and it'll be me reacting to your unpopular travel opinions so we could have a bit of a laugh stop right and be the next video
then we'll jump into a vlog or a van tour van tour has not been filmed yet so i don't know which one you'll get first but bear with me i'm getting myself back into the routine of editing a ton so but i'm really enjoying it and i am doing okay thank you for all the messages since my last video um they mean the world and i'm so glad not so many of you feel alone but i'm feeling a lot better uh so yeah bear with me lots of van videos lots of video ideas are coming up and i'm just gonna stick it to once a week just to start off um so get excited vantou gotta be filmed vlog gotta be edited oh we're gonna have so much fun um and obviously you all got a sneak peek in my instagram if you've been
