Baya Saka, Premier League champion. That's pretty nice, isn't it? Oh, it's great. Everyone with their bottles out. And now we're holding our bottles. Yeah, it's a bit of banner. Like, if people going to give it to us, we can give it back. But yeah, we ran into a few fans that were actually up at that time. So, it was a nice interaction, you know, it was organic and it was a nice memory to be fair. Yeah, you saw it when we won the league. They all turned up, left their houses, and Budapest is going to be amazing and the parade is going to be even better.
Hello, welcome to the breakdown. Arsenal are Premier League champions for the first time in 22 years. And today I'm here to meet one of the legends that helped make it all happen, Kaio Saka. Saka, Premier League champion. That's pretty nice, isn't it? Oh, that's great. Got a good ring to it. It does. I like it. It also feels like it was inevitable. Like people that have followed your career and you as a person. You're so loved at this club, aren't you? And it was almost like it was meant to be. Do you feel like that?
Yeah, I believe so. Um, obviously I'm a big believer and I have a lot of faith and my faith was tested. So was everyone else here. Um, especially in the last three years, you know, finishing second, but we believed and we've done it. Now, do you look back at those three years and how close you guys came every time, the highs, the lows of it, all that disappointment, and feel like it was a great lesson in the end. Now you're there. I think we learned our lesson the first time. The other two times felt more like disappointment and yeah, it was tough because you know what everyone says about us and what we had to deal with in the club and the doubts you have on
yourself. Can we really do it? We've done it now and um time to enjoy it. You know, people are starting to go into hiding mode, but we're going to find them. Let's let's discuss that a little bit more. Um what I've really loved is as soon as the celebration started, you guys didn't hold back in giving it back to people. Yeah, I don't think I've ever seen so much criticism of an individual team before in the manner that it is. And maybe it's just the social media age that we're kind of living in now. Who knows? But the fact that you guys have been aware of it and you've managed to get rid of it, that must have been quite sweet to be
able to now acknowledge it because now you are the winners. Yeah, 100%. We can say it now freely, but before if we said it, they'll say we're cry babies or we're complaining. But you know how it is like things about Arsenal are spoken about much more than necessarily need to be um and made into a bigger thing if we drop points or if we lose a game here. You saw everyone with their bottles out like Yeah. And now WE'RE HOLDING OUR BOTTLES. YEAH. IT'S a bit of banter. Like if people going to give it to us, we can give it back, you know, and we've earned the right to. So at the end of the day, it's time to enjoy. Um cuz I said this our time.
Yeah. I want to show you a quick clip. So um this was after the City game. Um this one went viral as well. This is Deck saying it's not done. And there were moments in that game, especially afterwards, that I think a lot of City fans and a lot of other people thought, I think it is done. What did you guys think? We didn't think it was done. Definitely not. But we knew the last few weeks we needed to really step up and that's exactly what we did. That's all I can say. Should we have a look at some of the celebrations? Let's do it. I've never seen anything like this. Like it's incredible on the night. This is just You guys weren't even playing. And this is what happened to North London, the streets around the Emirates.
Everyone turned up like Yeah, this was like seeing it. This was crazy. Even my cousins, my friends, they were all turning up to see this just on a normal Tuesday night. You know what I'm saying? Like it's just incredible. And this was the beginning part and then it started to fill up. It was just amazing. Oh, sorry. I just put that in for Hey, we've been killing him for this. You know, some of the stuff in the group chat is just funny. I loved it personally. I think a lot of other people did as well. Um, you guys were down at the Emirates at like 5:00 am in the morning.
Yeah. Yeah, we were. Like, how amazing. What how did that come about? No. So, obviously when we'd won, we celebrated here and then we wanted to go to the Emirates straight away, but we kind of saw what was happening and we got advised that security risk and stuff like that and which was sensible. Um, but yeah, after we had our night out with the boys, few of us were just like, "Let's go, man. Let's go. Why are we going home? We don't need to sleep. What are we sleeping for? And we just wanted to take it in cuz we thought that no one would be there. You know, it would be like a ghost town. Everyone would be asleep and just have a walk
around the stadium. Um catch up and just yeah, just take it all in, take some photos. Um but yeah, we ran into a few fans that were actually up at that time. So, it was a nice interaction, you know, it was organic and it was a nice memory to be fair. Yeah. We also we were just speaking to your boss and um we spoke about the sort of people that you all are how grounded you are and levelheaded and you just seem to be like really well-rounded people. How easy has it been to play in this squad? Yeah, I think it's been Yeah, since I've come into this team it's been special um as a team to be this close and to do it together with that feeling. It's special and that's why you know we're we're all so happy.
Yeah. When you woke up the day after you've you've won the league, what's the first thing that you think about? Is there a big emotion of relief in there or is it just joy? What is it? I think I had about two hours of sleep, but I felt like I'd had like five coffees. I was still so wired, so happy, still so much adrenaline in me. And yeah, it's just like you just you're a champion, isn't it? I don't know what else what else to say about it. It's been tough moments as well for you this season too when you've been struggling with injuries and come back in and it just feels like such a deserved moment for you and your Arsenal career as well
as your teammates as well. Tell us about some of those difficult moments. For me, I had to keep my spirit up. Um stay faithful and know that God was going to deliver for us in the end. Um and it was tough like I said at the start. It tested me a lot this year, but in the end, we've done it, like I said, and yeah, the people in this club, and it's not just me, you know, a lot of players and staff, you know, we've had tough moments this year. Um, but like I said, we've stuck together and that's why it feels so special that now we've done it um through all the adversities, through all the setbacks, the Champions League final as well, that this could be such an enormous season for Arsenal fans.
Yeah, I know. to you guys. I know it's obviously we've never won the Champions League before. Um, and a lot of people, especially after we won that game against Atletico Madrid, you know, as people talking to me about the final, um, how disappointed they were that they cried and stuff like that because, yeah, that's what it means, you know, to win in Europe is like it's it's so massive and if we can do that next week, it would be amazing for the club. We'd make history and um, yeah, we would love to do that. What have you guys been saying to each other about it? Because did you have to separate it and kind of go right we got to focus on the league now and then a little bit of celebration and
then when do your heads get down again and straight into business? I think everyone's a bit different you know for me I think it's a mixture of everything. Um you have to enjoy this moment cuz we worked so hard for it. But yeah with that in mind we have another opportunity to create history next week. Does it in any way relieve some of the pressure on the Champions League final? the fact that you've already done the Premier League, you play in a different way at all. I think it's more on ourselves, I'd say. Um, obviously we wanted the Premier League. Um, everyone knows that. And now that we've done it, I think it's going to give us even more confidence. It's going to give us a freedom, um, a flow.
Um, that will definitely help us going into that match. And just a quick word as well for the Arsenal fans because one thing that MueL said when we spoke to him, he was most proud about it was this connection that has been created between you guys, the club and the fan base again and it really is special. How special has it been for you to feel that connection? Personally for myself, my relationship with the fans is amazing. It's beautiful. And I think in the last year, two years, the club has really reconnected with the fans. Um we feel it in the stadium and for me it was so evident you know coming to that se
semi-final of the Champions League at the Emirates. Never ever seen the Emirates like that how they received us before the game. Um how they were from zero minutes to the final whistle. Um and yeah you saw it when we won the league. They all turned up left their houses and Budapest is going to be amazing and the parade is going to be even better. So there's a lot to look forward to, but yeah, at the same time, we know what next Saturday has in offer.
