Wn TV5's First Alert Weather coverage you can count on. Today's evening First Alert Weather Show starts right now. And good Thursday evening, Mid Michigan. Chief Meteorologist Chrissy Slick with a beautiful scene over I75 near Bir Run as we get ready to start our evening live stream for tonight. Our likely very short evening live stream just because there's not a ton going on. Weather is pretty quiet. Um few showers passing through at least parts of mid Michigan for tonight, but uh the ones that I ran into going out to get some dinner um weren't really all that heavy around Sagenol County. Looked like a few

sprinkles, maybe just a little bit more and a brief patch there, but really nothing impactful out on the road. So, that's always good. And another beautiful day today. High temperatures for our warmest locations warming up roughly to about uh I think the 70s a little bit earlier today. I don't know if anyone officially got to 80. We'll see if some of those other numbers come in uh before the day is done. But looks like we've got a couple 79s in areas like Alma and Aaso as well as Leier Hotton Lake and Caro both at around 78 and then we had 60 in Port Hope, 70 in Oscot and 73 in Bad Axe. So, not quite as warm as earlier this week, of course, but still a pretty nice day. And outside of the cloud cover that moved through

and some of the showers earlier this evening, we had uh a pretty good day overall. Now, as far as the lows go tonight, and looks like we'll have a chance to be down right about the upper 40s to low 50s over most of the area. I think some mid-40s will try to sneak in there as well as we go through the overnight hours and into the first half of uh tomorrow morning. And then we'll warm up pretty quickly, though not quite as much as the last couple of days. Do think there will be some 70s a little bit further to the west, but uh that northeasterly winds that was present today is likely going to be present again tomorrow. Um and you can clearly see the uh temperature divide over the

area because of that. You've got some 50s and 60s in some of our eastern areas. And that does penetrate a little bit farther inland tomorrow for areas like Caro, Leier, Sanduski, and some of those other regions too. But um it seems like as we go towards the weekends, weekend weather looking pretty good. We'll have a chance um for some outdoor projects to get done this week, not just the weekend, but pretty much all the way through early next week. So, uh, take advantage this weekend if you want. Or if you don't have to work during the day, you're retired or you've got the week off, something like that. Uh, you've got a great week to do so. Maybe take Saturday and Sunday to just relax a

little bit and enjoy this. Um, or early next week. Get it all done now and wait for the temperatures to be more consistently in the 70s next week. Should be a really nice stretch of weather. So, check the chat here. See who's with us tonight. We've got Denise, we've got Sherry, we've got Ethan from the Pit Spitters baseball game. Beautiful night for baseball. Um, got to imagine it's probably a little bit cooler where you are, Ethan. Um, good evening from Gladwin, says Sherry.

Uh, beautiful day today. Um, long-term, really not anticipating too much. Um, that's different here. Uh, going into the extended forecast, a lot of sun. I can't remember the last time it was this easy. Um, but we've got pretty much sunshine all the way through Wednesday of next week. What is going on is we've got uh one of those omega blocks happening. And so you might be familiar with this. We've talked about it going back into last year. Um but what is happening is I don't know if I'll be able to see it on this. Let me see if I can find it. But basically um the upper level winds and the upper level pattern looks like the Greek alphabet letter omega. And what it does is h let me see if I can get a much

bigger view here. Uh because I do want you to see this. Uh but what is happening is essentially it's a big area of high pressure and that area of high pressure does not change all that much. And so here's how it kind of looks. Let me pull up our actual computer here. Um looks like this. Hopefully you can see that. Um and our computer of course is not cooperating with me tonight. Oh my goodness. It's never easy, right? Um, so long story short, it looks like the Greek letter omega. Looks like a little horseshoe. And if you're under the high pressure part of it, your weather doesn't change all that much and you get beautiful stretches of

weather like these. Uh, but if you're under the low pressure part of it, well, you get some really stubborn showery patterns and you also get those drizzle patterns and cloudy patterns. We are thankfully this time under the nice side. But the one thing um that I did want to show, but I don't think I'm going to be able to show it tonight because our computers are seeming to have a uh weird connection. Good evening, John. Uh 53, Ethan says at the ballpark. Uh we are to the point where we do need some rain again. And as you can see here in the 7-day forecast, there's not a whole lot of it uh here in the next several days. There's one model that's giving us maybe a chance late Sunday night, but out of the seven or eight models

that we look at, it's the only one. And so, um, I'm not too confident in it. Uh, I don't really think we're looking at tons of rain here over the next seven days. And so, we are getting to that point again where we're not quite, I would say, to uh, being worried about drought stage again. Uh but we are looking at potentially u another period of time where you know we're going to be dry and we've got those burn bands in place. We've got uh burn restrictions. Um so it kind of varies from place to place. Um and it looks like we'll keep some of this warmth going even beyond the seven days. So that's through the next seven days. This is for June 4th through June 10th. So, the forecast

still leaning above average during that time. And it also doesn't seem like we're in an overly wet pattern either for the next six to 10 days. So, I think some of this dryness could even go into the end of next week. And even then, you know, we're not necessarily sure that every single spot's going to get rain. So, as nice as it is, there are some things that we do need to keep an eye on and especially windy days uh moving forward and any dry and windy days, especially the uh very low humidity kind of days. Those are the ones where burning things are a little bit dangerous and we have to be especially careful with those. Um Scott probably echoing what everyone wants to say. What hopefully the mosquitoes go away, the ticks can go

right with them. I know a lot of people talking about their they're finding ticks in their yard. Thankfully, I haven't found that yet uh when I've been out cutting the grass or weed whacking or anything like that. Uh I haven't seen one yet, but um I would hope with the lack of moisture that uh maybe that helps a little bit. What we're going to do, Scott, though, um, and anybody else who's interested, I did do a talk earlier this year, uh, back in February, talked to, um, some of our local, uh, mosquito teams around the area. Uh, got some insight into how they attack things and, uh, we talked a little bit about weather. So, I might check in with them in the coming weeks, especially now that

we've got some quiet weather going into next week. uh see if any of them uh maybe want to talk to me um on our live uh stream at night and see what uh their season's been looking like so far. Uh or if things have calmed down since the very wet April that we had. Uh but we have turned that into a pretty dry spring. And I can't show you this because our graphics are uh clearly freaking out tonight. So I'm going to try to keep this the way it is right now just to avoid anything else. Uh but I am looking at um May 1st through May 26th and a lot of areas are now seeing only 25 to 50% of their rainfall through this point of May compared to average. Others are 50 to 75%.

Uh but we are not getting much rainfall here in the month of May. And that's hard to believe we're in the position again to where we're needing rain. But um that is the way things have been going. So we'll have to watch that here very soon. Uh Sherry says the flies can go away. Basically any nuisance bug can go away. I'm cool with that. All right. Well, everybody, uh hopefully I'll see if I can restart this system. Hopefully we can get a better stream tomorrow night. I'll show you some of those maps. If you can't wait, I'll probably post one of those maps on my Facebook page. Uh so you can see that just because of how interesting it is. But one last look at the uh 7-day

forecast here. Beautiful stretch uh going through the next seven days. A couple of cool days tomorrow and Saturday seem to be the coolest. Now I do think there will be some areas that get into the 70s tomorrow, but downwind of the Sagenov Bay and in the thumb definitely think 60s. So I think Sagena could be a little cooler tomorrow as well. Um, anyways, hope everyone has a great night. Ethan, enjoy the game. Sherry, have a good night. Scott, John, Linda, Denise, Linda's not with us tonight, but Denise is with us tonight. Um, couple of our other frequent flyers not checking in at least with a comment. But appreciate you guys all the same. Thanks for joining.

We'll do this again tomorrow night and I will see you all then. Thank you for watching today's stream.
