Don't Make These Mistakes at New York Comic Con. | Transcript:

Hello, travelers, Voltage Room is back with you. Today we are in New York at New York Comic Con. Today we will tell you what not to do at New York Comic Con. Don't worry, you can get a bunch of free stuff here, but for something valuable, like a Dragon Ball Z bag, the line will form right at the entrance. So come early if you want exclusives, because they disappear really quickly, although a lot of interesting things appear throughout the day. Also, don't forget that there are some interesting things to see here, like Baymax from "The Incredibles", Dire Hound, and the new Night Force Psychout. They are currently filming Walmart Collector Con here. So you can find a lot of interesting things here.

Another tip: don't think that every collector's item is truly exclusive to this event, as there are items from the Walmart Collector Con here. Yes, I can take Lara Croft and other things, but they can also be bought at Walmart or ordered online, and there is limited space in my bag. So I would say: don't buy exclusives that aren't truly unique if you can get them online for the same price. However, if these are exclusives only for New York Comic Con, don't miss them. That's why it's worth coming as early as possible on the first day or on the day of release to have time to get in line for real exclusives, because this is important. There's a Lara Croft here that I like, but I'll get it at Walmart, so I won't buy it here.

So keep that in mind. Oh, we have Toxic Avenger here, so you know this is a real place for comic book and toy fans. I love it when the Toxic Avenger shows up, even in New York. Don't forget to walk everywhere, because I keep walking and look, here's Doctor Doom. There are plenty of costumes here for everyone. Look, there's Night Dragon and much more. Very cool, don't stop, continue the review. I'll be honest: if you don't like queues, don't stand in them, because they take a lot of time. If you want to get free gifts or access exclusives, you'll have to spend a lot of time. So, one piece of advice from me, and my friend Dustin will

probably confirm this later: don't think you have to do everything. Find a friend if you want the same things- split up and act to get exclusives, because they Just think about this when choosing what you want to buy. But the nice thing is that when you get to the stands themselves, where the exhibitors don't do too many exclusives, but simply show their products, there's much more space and it's easier to breathe, because at first it can be a little crazy. So, I'm here with my friend Dustin, better known as Phantom Traveler. And he will give you some more advice on what not to do, because I have already said too much. I'm going to leave. My goal is about to be achieved. So he has a few caveats for you too.

Agreed. Well, hello everyone. My name is Dustin. I'm a Phantom Traveler, and I have some tips on what not to do. First, don't be afraid to come a little later in the day. You don't have to be here at 9:30 unless you're hunting for some crazy exclusive t- shirt or toy. Don't be like Mark. Take a few minutes, catch your breath, pause, eat a good breakfast, and you'll be able to walk through the door without having to wait in line like I did. I waited exactly 3 minutes, and I bet Mark stood in that line for at least 90 minutes. So every morning. Just come, make your life easier. Come a little later and you can enjoy the exhibition. And of course, if you're walking through the exhibition hall, don't forget to hydrate. That's right.

Drinks and stuff here at New York Comic Con.it's New York, everything will be expensive here. So be sure to bring a plastic bottle and use the stations to fill it. I have one little trick. I don't have a plastic bottle with me, but this is a device that allows me to reuse the bottle, and I always have water on my belt, which reminds me to drink. You'll be walking for miles here, so be sure to take advantage of the free water. If you're going to pay for something, at least pay for something you really like. OK. If you came with friends and want to buy some exclusive toy or comic book, don't be afraid to split up and act separately. You can stand in one line, find out in advance what they need, and buy their things while they stand in another line

for yours. Lines are an integral part of Comic Con, whether it's in New York or San Diego. So use your friends as a resource to help each other achieve your goals. Don't forget that New York Comic Con places a special emphasis on books and comics. Other conventions may focus more on TV shows or movies, but here they really love comics and books. So be sure to take advantage of this. You can find a bunch of collectibles, back issues, or, if you're just starting to read comics, collected paperbacks-you'll find everything you need here. This is the best book and comic book exhibition, so don't miss the opportunity to take advantage of it. And don't forget that Artist Alley isn't just on the ground floor. There is a huge area there, but there is

also a section in the region of 2,000 rows further inland. There are many artists here. Many of them are the creators of your favorite cartoons, animated films, or comics that you may read. These are n't necessarily paid autographs, these are people who are simply present here. They will be happy to chat with you, maybe even sign something, and you can take a selfie and have a great time. So, some of your favorite authors are up here. Don't forget to visit the second floor as well. And don't be afraid to look around, because I'm here.they had all these shots (villages). Look, if you want Bugs Bunny, you can have it. I saw Tom and Jerry with a toddler and this is a real production shot. I think he'll come home with me.

The main thing is not to be afraid to look into those stands that you are not entirely sure about. For example, it seems like it's just an exhibition of paintings. No, it's really art, but they also sell things, and that's the whole point. And do n't miss the chance to chat with those working at the stands. They are very knowledgeable and interesting people. I'll put it this way: you came to buy something, and they want to help you find exactly what will suit you best. So, yes, I buy that Tom and Jerry shot. I think this is an important thing worth buying. Yes. I took Tom, who is holding the baby. And sometimes you can see historical items here, like the original sketch for " How the Grinch Stole Christmas, " signed by Dr. Seuss. No, I ca n't

afford it, and Justin said I don't have the right to buy it. And I know I can't because I don't have that much money. But honestly, you see cool stuff like this at New York Comic Con. It's worth coming here just to see this. And another great thing about New York Comic Con is that they don't forget about comics. There are a bunch of great comic book stores here. Sash from Jersey has Silver Age comics here behind me. But, honestly, if you're looking for some old rarities, there's plenty of them here. You can also find good deals. They also have cheap comics. But honestly, love that there are actually comics at New York Comic Con, not just a bunch of Funko Pops, which are also full of them. There is nothing

wrong with this. But I love the fact that there are still comics at New York Comic Con. And so many mystical boxes. So, if you like these surprise boxes, there are all kinds of options here. I saw Doctor Who, I saw Naruto, I saw G.I. Joe ", saw a wide variety of them. Here, look here. "My Hero Academia," they have this. Look, he's selling this. Look how many different options they have. So if you want something different, grab a box of Transformers or Doctor Who and see what's inside. Pretty cool. I have never seen so many mystical boxes in my life. Since Dove Men is here, I think it's important for such an event. Don't forget to use deodorant before coming. Take a spare. By the way, they even hand them out here, because sometimes it gets a little

hot, a little stuffy, a little smelly. Let's respect other people who came to the convention with us. So don't forget. Apply deodorant before you arrive. Maybe get one for a friend too if you know they might need it. Because you will be doing a lot of walking and standing, and you will be here for a long time with so much to see and do, don't forget to bring comfortable walking shoes. Don't wear new shoes. You need to have comfortable, well-worn shoes that you can walk and stand in a lot. One more thing I want to say: don't neglect compression socks, because honestly, given how much time you'll be on your feet, they'll help you a lot. It's like

traveling: it's good to have compression socks when you're on your feet for so long. It's good to have these socks for comfort, because when you're standing in line for an hour and a half for an autograph, a photo shoot, or something exclusive that you really want to get, your feet start to " buzz," and there are few places to rest or sit down. So it's a constant movement. So bring compression socks and good shoes. They will change everything. More and more queues. One more thing I want to say: don't forget to bring cash. Yes, almost every vendor here accepts cards, but I will tell you that when it gets really crowded, the connection works a little slower. And if you're trying to buy a few different things, you want to move on. Sometimes cash helps

speed up the process. Plus, you can get a discount, because even though we're at New York Comic Con, everything works the same way as at many other conventions. Cash may bring the price down a bit. So it's worth thinking about. And there are ATMs here. You can withdraw cash if you don't have any, but to avoid fees, be sure to withdraw money at home before going here. Oh, and if you're looking for somewhere to grab a bite to eat, don't worry. There are all kinds of little stalls like this one everywhere here. I'm here early, so the food court isn't quite open yet. But there are many small eateries here, like Bombay sandwiches and others.

So, you can eat when you're here. But I'll tell you this: don't forget to bring your own snacks, because honestly, I always have them in my bag. You may also want to bring a water bottle. I just happen to have a couple of bottles of water in my bag to keep with me, because while the local snacks are good, in some places they are just convention food. So if you want quality snacks, protein bars, or something healthier, you can bring that with you. And you can bring your own things with you. That is, if you don't have anything that sets off the alarm, you can safely walk through with your bag. So keep that in mind. Also, yes, don't forget that there are restrooms here. And, as I said, the lines for the restrooms are long before they open, but

once you're inside, it's not so bad. That's it. I need to go see something else. And if you can't find anything for your collection, you can always buy New York Comic Con merch. But don't forget that you have to wait in line for it, just like for everything else If you feel that the crowd and everything around you is overwhelming, I can give you one piece of advice: go to the periphery. There you will have a better chance of getting out of the crowd and moving around peacefully. Especially because I saw people almost having panic attacks because it can be very crowded here. So if you get away from the main crowd, you'll have a better chance of getting some space to catch your breath. So many comics. I'm so happy to see

Comic-Con, where real comics and artists are everywhere. Artists' Alley, we'll go there later. Honestly, it's so cool to see people who created the comics that we all love. It's simple, it's just a fun place. That is, it is a very fun Comic-Con, worth going to. The people here are actually very nice. It's crowded, noisy, cramped, but honestly, despite the large number of people, everyone behaves quite. well, you know, adequately. I will say that this is the case where New Yorkers don't get annoyed if you're standing in the way or stopped, because there's always someone going somewhere, back and forth. But people say, " Excuse me, sir."

Excuse me, sir. Oh, sorry. "No, everything is fine." There are just people here who are really happy to be here, and it's super nice. And I also want to say that depending on the day you come, your impressions will be slightly different. So, what I want to say is this. Don't delay buying your tickets because every day is a little different, okay? For example, I'm here on Thursday, I'm currently filming on Thursday, but I have tickets for Thursday, Friday, and Saturday. Thursday is a good day for shopping, okay? Saturday is the day that is sold out first, fastest. So, if you want to get here on Saturday for the main announcements, you should book your ticket as early as possible. And don't forget, tickets usually go on

sale in June, but you have to register to get information on how to do that, okay? So there you have it. You will register and your badges will be mailed to you, okay? So there you have it. Of course, don't forget your badges, because they won't let you in without them. So this is important to remember. But I will say this: as far as day for shopping because all the exclusive things are here. They will probably still be available when you arrive. You won't have to stand in lines. That's why I say: come early and stay longer to catch up on everything you want. This can be very useful. Friday is something in between, you know, people come,

especially in the afternoon when work ends. Even more people come with their families. You will see people with families on Thursday as well. But Saturday is the day when it gets really, really crowded. My advice: if you are a little claustrophobic and don't like large crowds, it's better to come on Thursday - this is the best day, Friday - the second most convenient. Saturday can be too busy, and yes, they work on Sunday too. You can come then too. It's very busy there too. But just know that different days have different atmospheres. For example, everyone is very charged and excited today. Everyone wants to get exclusives, so it's a little hectic at first, but once you get inside, everyone calms down and has a good time. So do it. I will

also say that some days are better for cosplay. At various times today, towards the evening, I see cosplay looking cool, when more people get together, they have meetups, and you see a bunch of Spider-Men, Ghostbusters, or whatever. That's pretty cool. So this is one of those things. And I think that's important to note. Don't forget to download the app, okay? The app has a map of the entire event. So if there are certain exhibitors you want to see, you can put a heart on them and it will show you on a map where they are, which is great. It also shows when all the panels will take place. So, I'm going to try to go to the Hasbro panel tonight at 7:00, it's on the fourth floor and the app shows how to get there.

Honestly, if any festival wants to learn how to build an app, they should look at the New York Comic Con app. This is extremely useful. It also helps you book tickets, as some events, such as the Empire Stage or the main stage, require advance booking, so you can do that through it. And let me tell you, don't think you'll get to see absolutely everything you want to see. Don't expect to make it to every panel or autograph signing, because time is limited. So make sure you choose where you want to go and what you want to see, and prioritize. That's why I say: don't come to New York Comic Con without a plan. My plan for

Thursday is to just walk around a bit and buy a few exclusive items. If I see something that really grabs my attention, I'll buy it right away to get my shopping done and feel the atmosphere. And on Friday and Saturday, more time for cosplay, attending panels, and things like that. This will make your experience much better than just showing up and asking, "Where, where do I go? Where, where are the artists? Where is the artist alley? What's going on?" This really helps a lot. So don't forget to download this app and don't forget to plan ahead. Card collectors, don't think you've been forgotten. It's full of collectibles: Pokémon, Magic, and much more to buy. There are also quite expensive things. And there are also quite affordable ones. So

you have a choice. Seeing people standing in lines, often it's just for free bags, packets, or other little things. It's cool to receive things like that. But I would say: is it worth spending 30 minutes in line for a bag if you're not going to buy a bunch of things? Only if you actually use it. So manage your time wisely. I mean, that's not bad, but know that sometimes time is better spent researching and finding real exclusives than waiting in line just for something free. Don't miss the opportunity to take a photo. Some of this stuff here is incredibly cool. And you can take pictures with them. Smile. It's just fun. So don't miss this. Also, when you walk around. Don't forget to greet people. If you're in various toy or collector communities, you'll

see people you've probably talked to online and now met in person. For example, I met Bee Max and the G.I. team. Joe. We were able to chat with them for a bit. I saw friends we did online broadcasts with, like Michael and others, who we never spent time with before, but now we can here. So take this opportunity and enjoy the attractions while you're here. Look at well-known toy manufacturers. That's Lenny from Boss Fight Studios. He is responsible for the G.I. line. Joe Classified. Did a fantastic job. By the way, Lenny, a "five" for Flash. I liked it. I really liked it. Just great. But yes. You can see a lot of cool people here.

Even if they are behind glass. Hey, and don't forget to check back again, because things change during the convention- they're putting new toys on the shelves while I'm here. So you'll see something new emerge. So keep walking around. Come on different days. It's nice to see things like this. Now I have McDonald's flip toys too. I also want to say: don't be surprised if you find a set of toys that you realize you can't leave without. It's NECA, they have McDonald's stuff here, and I think Grimace will end up in my collection eventually, because for some reason I identify with him. I still bought this from NECA because their stuff is so cool: from Christmas Muppets to Bert and Ernie, Grimace, and everything McDonald's related. I

had to take it. This is their exclusive for New York Comic Con, so I had to support them. So, the morning you pack your bag for New York Comic Con, don't forget to pack a few things. First, your spare battery. You left it on the table charging last night. Be sure to take it. Put it in your bag so it's with you. Also, don't forget to take your badges. This is important. But also take a bag. Have your main bag to carry everything in, but I also recommend taking an extra bag. Here, I have a few spare bags. I bought some things, but I have two more drawstring bags in my backpack so I can put things in there.

I also have a foldable shopping bag that I can reach for if I buy something large that I want to carry. So make sure you have something to carry your purchase in, because that cool Big Bird I bought I put in a regular bag. And here's my cute souvenir with "Tom and Jerry"-it's here. I have it. Like everything else, what should I do with it? I have extra bags for such things. Also, if you're going to buy something, know this: I have a folder in my bag where I'll put this image soon so it doesn't get ruined. Take care of protection for collectibles or comics you plan to purchase. Take a folder or a hard plastic case for the figures just in case, because you don't want to have to go back to the hotel in the middle of the exhibition to

leave your things. If you keep them intact, everything will be fine. That's all I wanted to say. If you are planning to come, don't worry. There are many housing options nearby. I stayed at a hotel where literally a dozen other hotels are right next to each other. It's a 10-minute walk to them. So I can go back, rest for a bit during the day, leave my valuables, and then come back because sometimes I don't feel like carrying all that with me. But that's exactly why it's important to have bags just in case. Have a spare bag in case you get inspired to buy a blue Big Bird from NECA, because their stuff is so cool. This happens. I also want to say: if you see someone in cosplay, don't hesitate to ask to take a photo together.

Especially if it's a cosplay that you really like or it's unique, because if they're using a very niche character, they're happy when people notice it. So tell them about it. Praise them for their work and ask if you can take a picture. This is completely normal. I must say: don't worry too much. I know I've said this before, but the scale of this place: the exhibition halls and exhibitors are right there. Here we have areas for photo shoots. And further on is the artists' alley. The Javits Center is huge. So again, plan everything

in advance so you don't miss anything, but don't be surprised if you do miss something. That's why I say it's better to buy tickets for several days so you can take your time and see everything, get through this busy day, and enjoy it even more the next day, look at cosplay, other shops, and find interesting trinkets. But yeah, it's just colossal. Now I have to tell you about photo shoots, and here's what I'll say: don't expect to have a lot of time for photos. It's literally just a photo shoot. You come up, they take your picture, you walk away, and the next person comes up. So you won't have the opportunity to chat with them for long. This is more about autograph sessions, where you will get a little more time. Also, regarding photo shoots, be sure to prepare

in advance before you go. It's not like you walk in and then start fixing your hair or getting ready. No, everything has to be ready by the time of the shoot. So when you approach, you take a picture and move on. So that everything goes better and you don't say: "Oh, the hairstyle wasn't quite right for the photo." So just do everything in advance, be ready for the photo shoot, okay? Also, be sure to register in advance for photo shoots and autograph sessions, as many of them have time restrictions and tickets for specific hours. So make sure you do this, or you might miss out on the opportunity to take a photo with someone you

really wanted to. For example, you want a photo with Matt Smith, Doctor Who, I want a photo with him. Oh, it's too late, I didn't have time to sign up. You just missed your chance. So be sure to register for everything you can, especially the photoshoots and autographs you really need, because it matters. Of course, you can get to some of them without an appointment, if you have time, that's fine, but keep that in mind. Also, don't forget about the Artists' Alley. Literally, the artists who create these comics, who draw these comics, are here. And you'll see some of their great work, but you can also see them themselves, so if you want to get something autographed, you can do that, or they have stuff for

sale that they'll sign for you. So, they are here. So it's worth a visit, and even if you don't want autographs or anything else from the artists, just coming and looking at some of the work is pretty cool. So, of course, don't miss the Artists' Alley. Although I still prefer the top floor with all the exhibitors, toys, comics, and everything else, it's nice to see some really cool artists present here. And the thing is, if you decide to take a photo, you can still register here. You can also register for them online. So you won't have any problems with that. A few logistical points I would like to add regarding queues.

First of all, if you've already booked a photoshoot or something that needs to be reserved, download it to your phone, but I would also recommend taking a screenshot because you don't want to try to get online when you're here because, honestly, uploading photos and everything when there are so many people around, sometimes it doesn't work, sometimes it slows down. It's better to just take a screenshot of everything so it's at hand. This is really very useful. Also, if you're tired of using just a regular black marker for autographs, bring your own markers. I actually have silver, gold, and bronze, different options. So if I run into someone and want to get an autograph, maybe I'll want something different, because sometimes black doesn't

show up on some things, you know? I have a cool box, you know, with a black background for Star Wars. The black marker simply won't be visible there. This is a kind of traditional option that people have. So if you have your silver or any other colors , it gives you more options and makes life a little easier. And yes, don't forget that you can bring your things for people to sign. So keep that in mind. I can't take pictures there, but yes, Elsa was there. There was, you know, Rosario Dawson, she was back there. So, if you want to get autographs, you can do that. Jim Lee, a bunch of cool stuff. So it's not just an artists' alley. There are other autographs there too. That's pretty cool. Don't think this is the end.

It goes on and on. I mean, there's more and more. So, give yourself more time. And when you think you've seen it all, realize you've probably missed at least half. Don't stop searching. You still see cool things, like the turtle peeking out from the cover of The Mandalorian. It's also not necessary to come right away for the opening, because the lines there are crazy. It's much easier and faster to get inside later. Just come around one o'clock in the afternoon. It's much easier than the madness that happens at the opening. I think the most important thing for me is the variety of cosplay you see around you. Sometimes you know who it is, and sometimes you don't. But

honestly, going to New York Comic Con is fun. I highly recommend this. If you're in New York in early October, be sure to check the dates. Buy tickets in June or earlier. Or if you can only be there on Thursday or Friday, get tickets for those days. It's worth it. Thursday, Friday, Saturday, Sunday, whatever day you come, you'll love it. So, what are your tips for attending New York Comic Con? Write in the comments below, and I wish you a great time at Comic Con, wherever you come.
