My friends, welcome to this episode of the After Gear Review. I hope you all are doing well. Without a doubt, it has been a warm summer. So warm, in fact, that there's been a number of trips that I've gone out on that would not have been possible if I didn't have a certain product with me. What I'm talking about is a fan, a USB-powered fan. This has made many adventures possible, and I'm talking about overlanding trips and also backpacking trips. I've been using fans like this since 2020 for summer time adventures. And I tell you what, everyone, they are irreplaceable. These perform so incredibly good. These are so lightweight, so inexpensive, and at the same time, they consume very little
energy. Whenever I'm out on a camping trip, and it doesn't matter if it's a backpacking trip or an overland trip, whenever I get warm, I plug one of these in. Sometimes, I plug them in and have them on my table as I'm eating dinner. Or if I get inside of the vehicle for the night and it's raining, no airflow, no ven- -tilation, I'll plug one of these in, and all of a sudden, I'm cool and comfortable. There are plenty of companies that make very similar products to this. This one here is from a company called RJVW. And again, that's just one company that happens to make these products. Another company that has similar products is SmartDevil. Speaking of which, this fan here is almost identical to the
SmartDevil fan. The difference is this one is available in a cool color combination, the green and orange. In my opinion, this looks sick. Let's take a second here and let's go over the features of the fan. You have the plastic housing. The fan itself is rotatable 360° On the backside here, we have the on/off switch and mode selector switch. When you press this once, it goes to low, medium, high, and then off. Connected to the fan, we have the USB cord, which is 3.9 ft long. At the end, we have a USB A port. Going back to the fan itself, on the front here, you have a protective screen, and on the bottom, we have rubber feet so that this doesn't slide around or fall over. To show you all this fan in use, and also so that you
all can hear how loud it is, let's go ahead and plug it in. So, I have an ultra light battery bank here. Click it once. That is low. And that does not make much noise. You certainly can hear it, but it's not enough to keep you awake or anything like that. That's medium. This is beginning to become quite loud. It's not enough, well, for myself, I can sleep with it on this mode. It's not that bad. This is high. And for myself, this is a little bit loud. I'm personally not able to sleep with it on this mode here. Yes, it puts out a lot of air, but it's pretty loud, pretty obnoxious.
You click it again, it turns off. For myself, I find that this puts out plenty of air on low and on medium. I haven't found a need to put it on high. Now everyone, let's take a second and let's go over some stats. Naturally, with this being a USB powered fan, you can run this on any power bank, any power station. You can find this in numerous colors, and those colors seem to change all the time. The green and orange version has been the most steadily available color, and I have to say, at least in my opinion, it's the best looking one. I love that green and orange. It's cool looking. The cost of
these fans depend on the day and the hour that you go looking. Sometimes it's $13, sometimes it's $15. At the time of filming, they're only nine bucks. When it comes to the dimensions, you're looking at 4.7 in by 4.7 in and it's roughly 2 in deep. The weight of this fan is 6 oz, which is ultra light. If you've been around on the channel for a while, I'm sure you've seen this product being used in many adventures over the years. Now, I did do a review on this a few years back and you may be wondering why I'm back again today. That's because in the summertime when I'm using this product, the amount of emails that I get concerning it, it's easier to make this episode here than to answer all of those emails, to
answer all of those questions. This is very much an updated review of this fan here and I can say this, my thoughts have not changed one bit. This is an excellent product that make certain adventures possible because without this fan, being inside of the vehicle, being inside of the tent, would plain and simple be too hot and miserable. But with a small lightweight fan like this that can move quite a bit of air and at the same time use very little energy, you can go on these trips or I should say I can go on these trips and I'm perfectly comfortable. This little fan here is super lightweight. It's also very small, does not take up much space inside of your backpack. It puts out a
ton of air on low, medium and high. And I should mention everyone, I've used this fan and fans like this not only here in North Carolina and the surrounding states, but all across the country. I've used these out in South Dakota when it was over 100°. I've used these in Wyoming and so on. On many adventures to states like Colorado, Susie and I have camped out in our van in very hot conditions and those trips were made possible only because we had these fans. We would be inside of the van side by side. On Susie's side, she would have a fan blowing on her. On my side, I'd have a fan blowing on me and we could be super, super comfortable. And the same applies for being inside of
a tent, right? That's one of the nice things about these fans is that you can use them anywhere. At the same time, they are super, super inexpensive. Again, at the time of filming, 10 bucks, 9, 10 dollars, you can't beat that. Especially for what these fans allow you to do. When you go camping in the summertime, even in very warm conditions, all that you need is airflow. You need to feel air blowing over your skin, and that's enough to cool you down. And it's something like this that makes those warm weather trips possible. These are game-changers in so many ways. And like I said already, super lightweight, very compact, and
also very energy efficient. This here is a 10,000 mA hour battery bank, and I could run this fan on low to medium all night long for multiple nights. On high, this draws only 5 volts, 1 amp. And that means that you can run this fan with one of those power banks for a very long time. One aspect that has impressed me and also surprised me about these fans is like how durable they are. Year after year, these fans, they keep running, and they keep performing extremely well. Not one time have I had an issue with one of these fans. They have always worked. And that's impressive for something that cost $9. The power cord is plenty long.
You can string this up just about anywhere. You can have it on a table next to a power station, a power bank. You can put this inside of your tent, and also inside of your vehicle. And you have plenty of space, or I should say plenty of length here, basically to arrange this any way that you need to. And if you need to extend this, there are USB extender cables out on the market, and they're relatively inexpensive. As far as cons go, there aren't many. I should mention that this is relatively small. It's good for one person. This is certainly not large enough for two people. Also, this runs on a USB A port, not USB C. And as far as cons go, that's pretty much it. I really can't think of any others.
All in all, this is a great product at a really fair price. And again, this makes certain adventures in the summertime, in the warmer conditions, possible. Trips, at least for myself, I wouldn't want to do without this. This year alone, there have been many adventures where, you know, I was comfortable enough outside of the tent, but once I got inside of the tent, then you have to factor that mesh alone can block out some airflow and hold in some heat. What I'm talking about is being really uncomfortable inside of those tent shelters, especially when it's so hot and humid. But this right here, this makes all of the difference. I can plug it in, turn it on, and all of a sudden, I'm nice and comfortable. And that is why I can
easily recommend this product to you all. This is the reason why I've continued to use this year in and year out. This is an excellent product at a fair price. It's ultra-light, very energy efficient, and it goes with me just about everywhere, inside of the truck, and also inside of my backpack. Make sure to sound off in the comment section down below what you all think about these fans. Talk about a top-notch product. There are very few products out there that are inexpensive, very good performing, ultra-light, quite compact, and also very energy efficient. This happens to be one of them. And folks, this is a game-changer for hot weather camping. I do want to mention everyone that I purchased this with my own money. I've never talked to
the company that made this. I don't care if you purchase this or not. I am simply answering the questions that I receive all the time concerning this product. And at the same time, I'm wanting to show you all how I go about camping in such warm conditions. A few weeks back, I was camping on top of this mountain. It was 95° during the day, and even at 9:00 at night, when I went to bed, it was still in the 80s. That's very warm for this area. But I was able to come out, do that camping trip because of this product here. When I was having dinner, I was sitting at the table, I had my fan going. When I was inside of the vehicle for the night, I had this fan going and I stayed very, very
comfortable. And that's just one example of one trip that I've gone out with this fan here. And my question for you all is this, what type of adventure would you do with this fan or a similar product? Also, here's another question. At what temperature do you decide that it's simply too hot to go camping? Comment down below. If you found this episode helpful, please hit the thumbs up. I do appreciate it. Until next time everyone, take care. Be well. Strength and honor. Bye for now.
