to Colorado. So it's in Boulder like All right. So Boulder this 47 degree by the water kind of damp chill that doesn't touch a dude like that. Just get out there. It touches me. It's cold. I got this heated blanket. I'm with you. Swag's over my Swag might not make it. There's a recurring theme with this cold type of people have their shirt on. It's fine. I know where you're going. Leave it alone, fellas. I know where you're going. Let's let's let's take a righthand turn and visit.
Got too much money. Mike McDonald, the head coach, the head coach of the rated J. Trust me. Thank you, Scott. Yeah. Uh, coach, congratulations. Super Bowl champion. Now, I just want to ask you, what is life like as a coach after you win the Super Bowl versus maybe life before the Super Bowl? Is it easier or harder from your perspective? Shoot. I just trying to wrangle my son Jack and we got another one on the way. That's really what home life's about right now. I'm trying to get everything ready. But I think it's it's special like to be able to reflect on the thing
that we did as a team and like the life that we've created here. But I think like when you really deep down like you and you search for like, hey, why are we doing this? It's the way of life that we're chasing and like and that's the excitement about what we have like moving forward, you know, and want to want to like make this team even better. Yeah. Let's talk about the culture in the locker room. When you talk about moving forward and want a way of life, it feels like you were able to establish your culture quick. We all saw it on hard knocks. these guys will obviously
go to war for you and it sounds like you'll uh trash talk them as well. Can you tell me about the culture of your locker room and what you wanted it to be and verse what it has become? Yeah, I think uh you know you go in and there's so many things you don't know and so like we left space like for the guys to like kind of grow into that space and make it like unique to us. I think if we just had kind of bought into actually my personality, it wouldn't have been as fun, you know? So, we got a lot of people that are uh that have contributed like what we've been able to create. And look, we talk about being loose and focused. So, we learned that
from John Harbaugh, but it's like, but we also want to talk crap. We want to get after it. We want to have great days. We want to love each other up. We want to be there for each other, but uh we also want to get after it as well, you know, and so I think it's just been this uh like organic, you know, evolution since we got there that a lot of people have contributed to it. I'm proud of what we've been able to create. Yeah. And when you win, it's easier to get people to buy in, I assume, whenever uh everybody understands the fruits of the labor are going to be world champions. Uh, a guy that I think will fit into your culture. As much as I know
from outside looking in, I wish I could have played in a team that you coach for, Quentyn Nelson. I know him very well from Indianapolis. Since the day he showed up, he was a dog. Absolute mer, a pillar of our organization. We are going to miss him mightily. What have you seen from him in the building just over the past few days? And what are your thoughts on getting him? I'm not sure he's left yet. You know, he's been uh he's been grinding away with the guys trying to get ready. I know there's some differences in like in our scheme and the things that we ask our guys to do, but um he's just been awesome and this is just the
beginning. You know, it's going to be a process getting everybody up to speed, you know, building the chemistry back with our offensive line with some of the moving pieces, but man, I just like sometimes I'll look at him. He's wearing Seahawks here. I'm like, dude, I can't believe you're on our team this. Yeah, me neither. Okay. Yeah, me neither. He's a hell of a football player, which is what you and Schneider have been able to find over here in this Super Bowl winning build. Uh, can you tell me a little bit about a defense that has a nickname uh that just held Patrick Mahomes and the Chiefs to three points, now Caleb Williams and Ben Johnson coming to town? What's tonight look like from the defensive side in your mind?
Yeah, that's that's the best part about the NFL is like you have these crazy like new challenges every week. Everybody's unique. Um, these guys are is they're a really good football team. They're a great offense. They got great players. Um, it's a different challenge. You know, there's there's a unique operation to how they operate. Uh our guys done a great job kind of attacking it every week and understanding like even you know what past performances don't don't necessarily mean that we're we got to go back and reprove it every week and uh done the preparation now we got to go let it rip.
You want to just tell me exactly what you're doing against Caleb right now? Not so sure yet. You know I'm still working on that. Good luck coach. We appreciate you man. Thank you for the time. Yeah thanks brother. Good luck bro.
