A man shot in West Hollywood tonight and three people are on the run. Thanks for joining us everyone. I'm Carolyn Johnson. I'm Jonathan Gonzalez. This all took place near Sunset Boulevard. NBC4's Robert Kvassic joins us live now from West Hollywood with the new video being used to try to find the suspects. Robert, that video is going to be key, Jonathan and Carolyn, as right now they are trying to figure out exactly what happened here in West Hollywood tonight just after 5:00. We're standing at Holloway Drive and Hancock. And this all
took place right up the street here on Holloway. You can see that it's the Sunset Strip. Then a little farther up. And if you take a look at that red banner, you see the Crime Lab right now doing what they can to try and piece this together. A lot of speculation from witnesses who tell us this was definitely a hit. The alleged shooters saw the man go into the store. They saw the man come out and that is when they took action. But tonight, late tonight, confidential sources inside the sheriff station tell NBC4 News that this was definitely a robbery. It was terrifying. The voice of West Hollywood resident and witness Jeff Collins.
The shooters were parked so that it does not look like some random act. It looks like what whoever was got shot. They were they knew exactly who it was. Surveillance video obtained by NBC 4 shows what allegedly happens next. Three masked men jump out of a car and go after a man seen leaving the retail store Fugazi. They surround him and then gunfire. I literally heard five gunshots. The man who was allegedly robbed left on the sidewalk of Holloway Drive. Upon deputy's arrival, there was one male who appeared to suffer from one gunshot wound who's currently being treated at uh Cedars for his injury.
As for the masked robbers, we saw the suspect vehicle take off eastbound on Hollow Drive, hitting another vehicle, that would be the Ferrari. The people that are fleeing hit the Ferrari. Yes, correct. Uriel Baladez shot this video and says inside of the Ferrari was a man and a child. The West Hollywood Sheriff's Station tells us tonight they were not injured. After the getaway car, a silver sedan, hits the Ferrari, they just kept on going. They pushed the whole throttle down like if nothing was on their way. And you know, who would imagine this on a quiet street? You know, this surveillance video, now the lynch pin to a West Hollywood shooting just
off the Sunset Strip. investigation, as you see back compounded here, is being conducted by the investigating deputies. And those particular deputies are pulling camera footage and trying to piece together what exactly happened. Now, we have just been told that the man who was shot and taken to Cedar Sinai is expected to recover from that single gunshot wound. And if you live in West Hollywood and you use this part of hallway, it can be used as a shortcut during rush hour. This road is expected to open in just a couple of hours. But the crime lab still has to finish their work and they have a lot of work still to do. Why is that? Because there are numerous evidence markers scattered
across Holloway Drive. And that includes not only bullet fragments, but 10 shell casings. That means at least 10 shots were fired during this altercation. And we are told some of those shots were aimed at the victim's car. Live tonight here in West Hollywood. I'm Robert Kvassic. That's the very latest on this end.
