Get it together, Homer. Okay, we're going to be here all night, guys. Hi, I'm Kaya. And I'm Homer. And this is Off the Cuff. Honestly, round one, icebreakers. Last song you listened to? I checked it just before this, and I wanted it to be Horse Girl, but it was Six Sexy by Metric. It wasn't Horse Girl, I'm shocked. Who would win in a trivia competition and in what subject? You, in every subject. really hoping you would say that.

You are college-educated, and I'm not. So, you in all the subjects. Yeah, but you say that you dropped out, but it was only because you finished every class at your high school. They did run out of classes for me. But, high school, not college. sure. You went to an Ivy League. you're you're very well-read. I think you could destroy me in literature. Thank you. I'll take that. was probably the first fiction book I read in quite some time. And yeah, since college. What's the most chaotic thing that's happened on a shoot or on tour? Have you been on tour?

I've not been on tour. Have you been on tour? No. For what? These are for someone else. Or a press tour, maybe. This is my first thing. Okay, well, what's the most chaotic thing that's happened on a shoot? Or a press tour. I haven't done a press tour. This might be the most chaotic thing that's happened on a press tour. Right now. I'm living it in the present moment. What's your go-to excuse when you're canceling plans? Usually, it's that I accidentally double-booked, which isn't fully a lie cuz the other booking is with myself, not wanting to go. So, I just say that I

Well, you're busy enough to pull that off, too. Yeah. I have to go with like, I'm sick, or No, you know what? You don't come up with an excuse. You will just text me and be like, "Actually, I don't feel like it anymore." Which I respect and love. way. Yeah. I'm inspired cuz I'm always coming up with elaborate lies, so. Round two, getting personal. Uh-oh. What was your name again? Homer. What do you know now that you wish you could tell your 16-year-old self? I mean, I think the realistic one is that being able to play a musical instrument is really cool.

Mhm. And you should just suck it up and do the time. But don't you play guitar? No, I seem like I play guitar. Yeah, you do. I feel like you would whip it out. the drums. I was in jazz band until uh seventh grade. And you had a band. Yeah. You're lead vocalist, so. a vocalist and I was like You're front man through and through. I was on tour. What's the most surprising thing people assume about you that's completely wrong? I think probably people assume I don't have a sense of humor or specifically that I don't have a sense of humor about myself.

No, you do. Thank you. I you got to get to know you. Yeah, I don't lead with that. I don't think I give off that I have a sense of humor and I'm very dry, so I think sometimes it just reads as like no personality. I think you definitely have a personality. You have some of the most off-the-wall memes and as a guy who's off Instagram, the little tastes of the internet culture that I get from Kaya is out of control. You get some of my best memes. And she has a secret meme account. I do. What's a hill you will absolutely die on no matter how ridiculous it sounds? If I walk into a room and there's overhead lights, I'm leaving that room.

I want lamps. I want side lighting. I want small pools of light around the room. And I want to thank my mother for giving me that good taste and if no one else if people don't agree, I don't think they really have experienced it in the right way. Yeah, but look at where we What do you think about this kind of light? Dim the lights, please. What's your most irrational fear? Clowns. And I lived my nightmare the other day at Upfronts because we got taken to the stage in an elevator full of 16 clowns because they were there for American Horror Story. I had a panic attack. I was trying to hide it, but it was really not okay.

I found that less scary than like the 16 latex suit men. Oh, that's fine. Well, that's a Tuesday for you. That's a Tuesday. My That's a Tuesday. No, I've been in that latex suit. love For American Horror Story? Yes, stories. There's a difference. Do you have an irrational fear normal clowns. They're like sharp teeth clowns. Yeah, they're scare All clowns are scary. Do you have an irrational fear? I don't know. Being perceived. Nuclear war. That's very rational.

Round three, career questions. If you had to change careers for a year, what would you do? I think I want to build furniture. I want to be like a furniture designer or like a carpenter. I had a pipe dream recently of going to massage school. I was going to go to massage school as soon as the Shards wrapped, which is still in the cards. There's part-time massage school. You're so strange. What would you do? I'd just be a librarian, but I basically already do that. What's the worst advice you've ever been given professionally, and did you take it?

I've been in acting classes where it's like, don't do anything unless your scene partner makes you do it. Mhm. And sometimes think when you're doing film or TV, that's not always the most helpful. Sometimes your scene partner's a little sleepy and they don't want to give you that much, and that's okay, and you still have to kind of like watch your own back. You're not like this. Or they're just doing their own thing. Yeah, but you are a very generous scene partner. I like doing scenes with you so I'm blushing. to say that. When did you figure out what you wanted to do?

My entire childhood, I was told like, you're of course going to be an actor, your whole vibe and everything. You're like And I was like, I'm playing baseball, babe. And then I had a close friend who was casting a short film um at Brown, and I auditioned for it, and we did it, and it was like the first time that I had done a job where it didn't seem like even if I was doing a 14-16 hour day that I was working. So, I was like, that's a pretty good sign. What comes first, modeling or acting? Okay, Meg Stalter. She's like, I'm taking a break from acting and I'm doing music. And she's like, I'm stepping away from acting unless I get an email with like a self-tape request or a script or anyone wants to offer me a

job, then I'm acting again. And I was like, that's me. So, when I when there's no acting jobs coming my way, modeling first. But as soon as an acting job or a self-tape request or a meeting comes in, then acting first. So, yeah, that's how I feel. You're an opportunist. Absolutely. Describe The Shards in three words. What's going on? Scary, sexy, fun. Is he real? Ryan Murphy Productions. Oh, that was way more than three words. Okay. Brown University. How are you and your character in The Shards similar? I think we're similar in more ways than I would like to admit, but I do remember in high school I was very aware of how temporary it was.

How temporary high school was? Yeah, just how temporary that moment in your life is. Like, I always thought about being an adult. And I feel like Susan is also very much thinking about being an adult. She already acts like an adult. She's also very maternal, which I feel like I am and sort of was to everyone on set. And she just makes googly eyes at Robert, and so do I. So, Can I say what I think? Yeah. Well, I thought it off the bat, but what clinched it for me was I saw your handwriting and the way you take notes, and it was exactly what Susan was going to do in my mind in the book.

Okay, how are you and your character different? I don't own any leather pants. Homer doesn't own any leather pants. Homer wore leather pants for 6 months straight. Yeah. And it was a decision that was made like 2 days before shooting. It was like and then all of a sudden it was like Stockholm Syndrome. They fit you very well, I have to say. And you can move in them. Favorite Bret Easton Ellis adaptation? I feel like I have to say American Psycho.

It's just a classic. I just watched it again like 2 weeks ago. And? It's Yeah, it's unbelievable. Yeah. Yeah, and Christian Bale just it just doesn't get better than that. So, but maybe it will be The Shards. Are we supposed to say the Shards? Well, one that exists that's out already is American Psycho, but biasedly my favorite is the Shards because we're we're winning. Okay, round four, style questions. Homer? Yes. Where is this from? It's of my hat in Euphoria. Yeah, on the Friends couch, right?

Yeah, yeah. Ding, ding, ding. I don't know if it was the real one or if it was like a replica. And like then I'm shooting the entire Warner Brothers lot as the Warner Brothers lot, uh which was really cool. And you said, "This is Hollywood." I said, "This is Sam Levinson." He said, "Babe, this is Hollywood." Welcome to Hollywood. What is this? Oh, that's my little Edie Halloween costume. Little Edie? Yeah, from Grey Gardens. Oh my god, Grey Gardens. I only know Grey Gardens from the documentary now. Uh Oh, oh, oh, the Bill Hader, the Bill Hader.

Hader, Fred Armisen. Of course. Yeah, yeah, yeah. That's really funny. I Honestly, when I was when I chose to do that Halloween costume, I was like, "I want to do Bill Hader doing Grey Gardens." That was my inspo. Oh, with our friend Graham. With Graham Campbell. Who is he? He was Brad Pitt. Need money for Porsche. Do you remember this? That is also from Euphoria. It's a whole fake movie premiere. Yeah. And it was fun. You got to be like a rock star for like an hour and a half cuz it was they had this entire fake crowd going crazy screaming my character's name.

Can I ask you a question? Yeah. Now that you've done a carpet, a real carpet, was it easier to do this fake carpet in character than it is to like go do a carpet as yourself? 100% cuz it's like, yeah, you're playing a character. Look at that guy. Homer in Euphoria, the most famous actor in the world. I'm playing the most famous actor in the world. And this? fear that might be a skirt that I wore once. I'm really scared that it is.

Do you want the answer? Yeah. It's a skirt that I wore once. It was from Topshop. Was I like Where was I? Like a Dylan's Candy Bar? Like it was just It is Dylan's Candy Bar. I had a birthday at Dylan's Candy Bar when I was in first grade. Yeah, it was like the opening of Dylan's Candy Bar LA and I wore a Topshop skirt and a hat. the opening of Dylan's Candy Bar LA? Someone whose style you look up to. Our castmate and friend, Jordan Roth. Not even like on carpets, but like what he wears to like set. To set and I like show up is so sloppy.

He's a genius. In terms of someone whose style I want to emulate, Mhm. my mother's style is fantastic. If I could wear the male version of what she wears. Yeah. She grew up in like Colorado. She's a ceramicist. She just is very artsy crunchy. Is there a fashion era that you wish you lived through? I think that the style in our show is so good that it made me long for the '80s. So 1981, I feel like I've started dressing a little bit more like my character cuz Did you?

Lou is like Lou and Josh, our incredible costume designers, are the best and they pulled incredible vintage from the time, like real vintage and it was so it's all so beautiful. It's so chic. And I clearly did not dress like that in high school. You just got a taste of how I dressed in high school, so. How old do you think you were there? Probably like 13, 14. What's one thing or trend you would never wear? I don't want to say never, but I don't get loafers at all. No, but I feel like I've seen you wear loafers. Yeah, you would think, but I don't. I feel like if I'm not wearing a sneaker, I'm not ready to rock. to run, to deal with whatever life has

coming my way. What's a trend you quietly participated in that you'd now deny? When I was like 14, 15, I had a phase where I was wearing a lot of Vineyard Vines long sleeves and Vineyard Vines chap shirts. Sorry, what's Vineyard Is that real? Is it that much of an East Coast thing? Really? It's like the shirt with the whale on it. The whale like the preppy thing. I went to a high school from a different middle school and all of a sudden everyone was wearing Vineyard Vines and I needed to fit in. Okay. So, I was wearing Vineyard Vines and I have some friends that haven't forgotten it.

I think you could pull it off now, bring it back in kind of an ironic way. You're being very supportive. I want you to have a good time. Round five, lightning round. Pre-planned or spontaneous trip? Spontaneous. Uh vintage or new season? Vintage. Early riser or night owl? Uh early riser optimistically, night owl realistically. LA or New York? Ooh, both. Group chat on mute or left on read? Answer every message dutifully.

Paparazzi photo or red carpet shoot? Red carpet, but neither, but red carpet. Would you rather your DMs or your camera roll be made public? I don't have social media. Texts or camera roll, I changed it. Uh texts. Book or movie first? Book. Uber or subway? Subway. Subway, obviously. Uh front row or backstage? Front row. Yes or no? Ew. You love to say no. You literally no is your favorite word.

Yeah. Yeah, yes, no is your favorite word. Yeah, yeah. Yeah, yes, yeah. No. Yeah. Yes. Yeah. Thank you so much for watching. This has been Off the Cuff with Vogue and Homer Gear. Thank you so much for watching. The most famous actor in the world. I'm Homer Gear and this is Kaia Gerber. Thank you so much for watching. It was so nice to meet you. Homer, Homer, right?
