My friends, welcome to this episode of The Outdoor Gear Review. I hope you all are doing well. The other day, I came across a very interesting alcohol stove. It had such a unique design that I decided to go ahead, purchase it, and begin testing it out. This comes from a company known as Boundless Voyage, and this is their ultra-light alcohol and wood burning stove. If you decide to purchase it, you're going to receive the storage bag that features a draw pull. It is a little bit oversized to house the stove plus some additionals. This is stage one of this stove. You can use this part here as a wood stove, or you
could take the alcohol stove and drop it into the center. We have a lid for the alcohol stove. This allows you to put it out just like so. Then, of course, we have the alcohol stove itself. Focusing on stage one of this stove, as I like to call it, we have pot supports. There are three of those, and they swing out just like so. So, we have the pot supports up here, and we have the feet down here. Let's say that you wanted to use this as a wood burning stove. You can pile up the materials on the inside, and you can feed through this port here. On the bottom, we do have oxygen holes. With the pot supports, there's a fair amount of jumping. With the feet, they provide a very stable platform for this stove system.
Now, everyone, let's go ahead and let's do a quick boil test. Well, maybe not too quick, but let's do a boil test. When it comes to alcohol stoves, there's nothing fast about them, and that is certainly going to be the case with this stove here. This is going to take a while. Boiling two cups of water with an alcohol stove, in general, will take around 10 minutes, give or take a little bit. These stoves are very, very slow, and that's because the fuel does not release that much energy, that much heat. Because of that, it takes a much longer time to get your water to a boil. Come to think about it, everyone, if you're not experienced with alcohol stoves, there's a video that you should
check out, and it's one that I did a few years back. I believe it's titled The Truth About Alcohol Stoves. It's likely the most popular alcohol stove video on YouTube, and it is all about the pros and cons of using a stove like this. The vast majority of alcohol stoves are very simple, they're very lightweight, but they have a number of cons that come with them that need to be considered. Cons that I'm not going to go into in this episode. So, make sure to check out The Truth About Alcohol Stoves before purchasing something like this, just to make sure that this is truly something that you want to use.
Initially, I was going to do a wood fire burn test. Unfortunately, a statewide burn ban has just gone into place, and that's because it is incredibly dry. At the same time, we have relatively low humidity levels. Currently, there are wildfires burning everywhere. Hopefully, that'll change soon, and I say that because we have heavy rain coming into the area later on this week. The boil test has concluded, and it took 10 minutes and 33 seconds to boil two cups of water. As far as performance goes from an alcohol stove, this is very much typical. There's nothing special here. It's not overly slow, it's not
overly fast. When it comes to alcohol stoves, there's only one that I know that offers truly excellent performance. It's made by Evernew, and it's a very good alcohol stove. It is a little bit pricey, but the performance is good. Now, when it comes to this stove here, let's go over some stats real quick. When it comes to the materials that this is made from, you're looking at titanium. We also have a polyester storage bag. When it comes to the alcohol stove itself, we have 24 pour holes that go around the body. That's where the flames will eject from. The weight of the full kit, including the storage bag, is 4.5 oz. The weight of the stove, 2.1 oz. The weight of the stand here is 1.9 oz. As far as the dimensions go, 3.2 in tall, 5.6 in
wide. Lastly, let's talk about price. The price of the full kit is $36, but if you want to purchase the alcohol stove by itself, this is 20 bucks. By the way, everyone, if you want substantially better performance from your alcohol stove, get yourself a piece of tin foil, and basically make a cone around the alcohol stove, blocking wind and forcing all of the heat to the bottom of your pot. That will substantially decrease the time that you need to boil a cup of water. At the same time, it's going to save you a ton of fuel. Anyways, folks, when it comes to this system here, I have to say, overall, I'm impressed with it. It is very lightweight, it's very compact, it's well made. There's no
rough edges on any of the metal here. Again, this could be used as a wood stove, and I think that's really, really cool. Unfortunately, because of the burn ban, I don't feel comfortable running this. It is very, very dry, everyone. The overall performance from the alcohol stove is exactly what I expect from a stove design like this. The stand here does offer good wind resistance, but if it is breezy, you'll need a dedicated windscreen, or you can use a piece of tin foil, like I said already. Overall, this is a very stable system, including the bottom, as well as the pot supports.
Just about anything can fit on top of this. Cup, pan, pot, kettle, whatever you want. Because this kit is made from titanium, it cools very, very quickly. The storage bag is of a good quality, and it's large enough to fit the stove itself plus some additionals. As far as cons go concerning this system, at the moment, there's nothing to report. For the money, the quality is good, the weight is good, the performance is good. Using this as a wood stove, that's what I'm interested in doing. Hopefully, the fire ban will be relaxed soon, sooner rather than later. As soon as that's the case, I'm going to begin testing this out. In the future,
after I'm done testing this out, my full review will go live. So, stay tuned. With that being said, so far so good with the Boundless Voyage titanium alcohol stove and wood stove. More testing needs to be done, but as it stands right now, I see no real weaknesses or cons to this system. The price is definitely good, the weight is very, very good. So, let me ask you, what do you all think about this alcohol system? Also, what do you all think about alcohol stoves? Do you like them or no? Back in the day, everybody loved alcohol stoves because they were so lightweight. But now, the outdoor space is quite a bit different. You can have a full gas stove setup that weighs almost the same as this. And those type of
stoves are much more fuel efficient. And that, my friends, is a conversation for another day. If you found this episode interesting or helpful, please hit the thumbs up. I do appreciate it. Until next time, everyone, take care. Be well. Strength and honor. Bye for now.
