We still got three more wins before someone gets their name on the cup. But game two of the Women's College World Series. Texas looking to go back to back. Niga Kennedy on the mound for Texas Tech. They're 20 and one following a loss the last two seasons here. It's scoreless, but Leanne Good cannot come up with it. Maya Davis scores. Patrick Mahomes loving that. It's one- nothing. Guns up. But here Kaden Henry makes a line drive. Uh the catch is made I should say by Logan Hollowan. That's a spectacular grab. Two batters later, Viviana Martinez.
Ground ball on the throw is off target. Haley Tony's throw allows two to come in for Texas. And that is a costly mistake as Texas is now out in front. Ka Altmire on a line and Hallowan makes another spectacular grab in left field. Texas Tech still down just one. Top seven, Henry at the dish. 2 and high deep and no one can keep this in the yard as the lead is extended to 3 to one. Deacon, come on. The ace, the all everything star for Texas. Fittingly is in the circle to end this one as Texas wins its second consecutive championship. Here's the star on why she's able to perform on the biggest stage. So, well, like I've been keep saying, this is what
you dream about. Um, this is why you work hard. I kept telling myself when in the bullpen, I was like, this is why we work so hard like for this moment, this exact moment right here. And so just trust myself. Um but the hard work is over when you get here. It's just going out and playing free. And so I think um with these girls behind me, I feel like I can do anything. What you've accomplished in this game at Stanford, but really at Tech, how do you balance that with the disappointment of these last two years? Does it help ease the pain a little bit? Um yeah. I don't think someone's whole career is just defined by um kind of a national championship. of course, like that's the goal, but like I don't think um I don't think not winning that game
kind of diminishes like everything else. So yeah, Texas was on the ropes after they lost the opening game of this tournament and history was not on their side. I believe it was four of 42 have ever lost the first game and then come back to win. But they didn't have Kavon who was spectacular. Texas wins six straight to claim the title outscoring their opposition 27 to7 and their star ace on the mound that practiced for all those moments started four of those wins winning all of them with a complete game and the other two got the save including the title clincher tonight
