Well, good morning. Happy Friday. I'm meteorologist Austin Evans and this is Weather Impact Live from the WHS11 Plus studios brought to you by Humanana. This is our Monday through Friday show where we just yap about the weather uh in a little more detail than what we're able to do uh during our uh linear newscasts that is newscasts on traditional broadcast television. So uh we are uh going to be talking about or I'm going to be talking about a few things here today. We can now dive in and it's a beautiful start to your Friday as you can see here. Uh we starting to we're starting to see more blue skies over downtown Louisville right now. Uh lovely shot from our First Merchants Bank
camera overlooking downtown Louisville. Just a quick reminder, just a quick reminder, here's a quick look at I65. All four of these viewpoints uh will be in the closed area of I65. I65 will close from downtown until I 264 uh which is the Wat. It will close in that stretch in both directions beginning on Monday and it will remain closed until August 1st. So be getting prepared for that. Make your plans now. There is a large portion of you that is going to be affected by this closure and you are going to need to know how to get where you need to go uh beginning Monday. We have more information on the website. So again, it's a lovely start to your Friday
with temperatures already in the mid70s here in Jefferson County in the metro area across Kentucky and a low to mid70s with temperatures a little bit warmer in Springfield. The due point is falling, but it's still up near that 60°ree mark. So it is going to be a little bit humid today, but if it's breezy at all, that'll kind of counteract that. So, wind gusts up to about 12 mph depending on your location. And um here is another quick look at I65 near hospital curve. That will also be included in the shutdown. I meant to show radar here. Um we got satellite and radar showing that cloud cover overhead, but how skies are beginning to clear. And here's the hourly planner uh throughout the rest of
your Friday afternoon. Temperatures in the low to mid 80s for highs today. Uh which is a little bit above average for this time of year. East northeast wind up to about 10 miles per hour. Uh depending on the time and where you're at. We'll see a little more uh cloud cover as we head into the late night hours because we do have a very minor chance for some rain today. again, very minor. It's going to be isolated at uh at best really. Uh real quick, uh here is the uh new uh forecast type of forecast that we're doing. The 3-day patio forecast brought to you by High Stakes Rooftops.
Uh nice uh evening, a nice day and weekend for uh taking a load off on the patio or your back porch or wherever. temperatures in the lower 80s as we head through the weekend. Uh the humidity won't be quite as high. So, it's a nice uh nice conditions for uh taking a break, taking it easy uh this weekend. So, hopefully uh you are able to enjoy that. And here's another quick look from our River City Eye Care, a Uvel campus camera overlooking downtown Louisville, part of our Uvel Health camera network. You can really see the blue skies there a little bit better from this vantage point and just how nice it is over downtown from Uvel.
We'll dive back into the forecast. I got the weekend forecast pulled up. There is a chance for some early isolated showers depending on your location, mainly in our southern counties going into your Saturday morning. Uh so just be ready for that. Don't be too surprised if you do get rained on. But you can see very consistent weather pattern ahead of us and that is due to the uh blocking pattern that we have on the way. Uh we're going to see an area of low pressure uh two areas of low pressure really uh build up this high pressure in the central portion of the country. That's going to create uh for a very stable, very high reaching air mass over the central portion of the United States. Uh so that is going to create
for very consistent dry conditions for us going forward. Uh we do have those very minor rain chances, but this is setting up going into early next week. So, uh, the minor rain chances that we have through Monday morning are going to be very few and far in between. And then after that, once this gets set up, we pretty much see rain chances go away. Uh, so this will be a blocking pattern that we'll sit in for a few days. It's not going to be a super long winded omega block like we have seen in the past, but this is going to be a blocking pattern that gives us some very consistent, very normal conditions with highs in the lower 80s. The humidity shouldn't be all that high either, and we will see plenty of sunshine after this. I'm glad it's
happening now uh rather than say a month from now uh going into early July or even early August where uh a blocking pattern like this would mean record heat. That's not looking to be the case uh this time just because of the time it is setting up. Though if we see another one, it will likely be a hotter situation. Here's that uh weekend forecast again. Very early shower, isolated shower chances both days. Near average both days. Here's the May rain check. We are now above the average today for rainfall. We're up over an inch uh compared to the normal average. So, that is a good thing. Glad to see that. We are still behind the yearto-date average, but we
have plenty of time to make that up. And again, don't look at last year in comparison to this year because as you can see, last year was nearly 6 in or just over 6 in above normal uh compared to the two-day average. So, uh last year can't really be used as a comparison uh but uh just because of how much rain we got last year. Uh here's the drought monitor compare and contrast to last week compared to this week and you can see significant improvements across uh a large portion of Kentucky. All that red area where there where it was notated as extreme drought or four out of five on our scale that has been almost completely wiped out leaving an area sorry leaving an area in portions of uh Taylor County, Adair
County and Marian County. Just the eastern edges of that uh extreme drought area still left including also Casey County. that area did get uh bad uh before the rest of Kentucky did. So, uh lots of improvement there. Hopefully, we see more improvement next week. We might see uh things stay pretty stagnant next week, but it's going to take a bit for us to backslide. So, uh hopefully uh we don't see any uh backsliding on that and we can continue to see improvements. And uh real quick, if you're just looking for the high today, uh it's going to be a pretty nice day, a warm day, highs in the low to mid 80s, and we're hopefully going to see that humidity begin to calm down. So, we're going to take our first uh commercial
break here, and I'll be back with more forecast details uh so you can plan your weekend ahead. We'll be right back. Welcome back. I'm meteorologist Austin Evans. You're watching Weather Impact Live here on the WH1 Plus app along with our socials. We're live on Facebook and uh if you have questions or comments, please leave them in the comment box on Facebook. We're in the WH11 Plus studio brought to you by Humanana. And we're now going to dive back in to the forecast. And uh things looking pretty good for this weekend. Uh I will answer uh your question, Andre, in just a moment. Uh but uh this weekend not looking that bad. Highs near 80 both days. We'll hopefully start to see that
humidity begin to drop. We'll dive in uh to that May rain check again. We're now above the normal for the 2-day average compared to the two-day average. And uh here's the drought monitor compared to last week. Significant improvement for this week that was released yesterday. So here are the rain chances going forward the next 5 days right at 20%. Very isolated rain chances as this blocking pattern begins setting up over the United States. Uh which I will talk about in a moment. Keep an eye on the weather yourself with live radar 247. It's on the app that you're watching this on, too. So here's the Omega Block. And it's called the Omega Block because it makes an omega shape if you're
familiar with the Greek alphabet. an area of low pressure, two of them on the east and west coast, uh just parked there kind of rotating and that rotation forces air up in the middle of the country uh creating a high pressure zone that's very stable, very farreaching and uh that is going to create a very consistent weather pattern for us because this type of thing doesn't move all that much. Uh and when it does move, it takes a long time to move. So, uh, we're going to stay under this high pressure for several days. Uh, we'll start to see it begin to break going into about Thursday of next week. And unfortunately, we are looking at rain chances next weekend for crusade weekend. Hopefully, uh, those rain
chances end up being isolated. Uh, but right now, we are looking at rain chances for next weekend, which is just outside of our forecasting window. But from what I can tell right now, it does look like rain chances for next Saturday and Sunday Crusade weekend. But we'll be keeping an eye out uh on that, keeping an eye very closely on that forecast. Hopefully, we won't see much happen. Uh but here's the next 5 days highs. And you can see today quite warm, very similar to yesterday. And then we start to cool off through the weekend and into early next week with highs near average, if not a degree above or below uh maybe two. But we're going to get into a very consistent, very stable pattern uh
beginning next week. Here's that live look once again from our First Merchants Bank camera in Jeffersonville overlooking downtown Louisville, part of our Uvel Health camera network. Things very nice out there. A very uh a very just nice day for your Friday. Get out and enjoy uh your Friday. By the way, it's my sister's birthday. Happy birthday, Autumn. I know you're not watching, but uh maybe this message will get to you somehow. Uh but I've already texted you. But uh we are starting to see that cloud cover go away, too. So, we'll see a lot of sunshine throughout the afternoon. So, let's take a look here at Futurecast. The rest of your Friday going to be pretty uneventful. We
will see increasing cloud cover late this afternoon and evening, but we'll see plenty of sunshine before that. And then a couple of showers, very light, isolated showers are possible into your Saturday morning, but they're not going to stick around for uh much of any of Saturday. And then we go into Sunday, a very similar situation. Very isolated showers possible during the morning hours, but it's not looking like it's going to happen. And then our best chance for rain, still only about a 20% exists going into Monday morning of next week. So, highs today, warm, low to mid 80s. And hopefully the humidity will begin calming down tonight. We'll drop into the low to mid60s for overnight
lows while staying partly to mostly cloudy. We'll see a bit of that cloud cover continue to build. So, uh that is really the forecast. I'm going to dive into a couple of long range stuff. Let's talk about uh rain chances for next weekend once I find the European model that I like to use for long range forecasting. And here it is. I'm going to have to change the dates, so just bear with me. But, uh, yeah, we are looking at, uh, some rain chances for next Saturday and Sunday. That is June the 7th. Going to just really quickly double check the date. And thank you for uh, sticking with me on Weatheract Live.
Let's see if we can see anything. And yep, there's the rain chances popping up. As you can see here, uh Saturday morning, a couple of uh light to moderate showers should be expected. Hopefully, this won't be super widespread. It's not looking as widespread as it sometimes does on these uh on these long range models, but uh we are going to be probably forecasting at least a uh 40% chance for rain on Saturday. And then Sunday uh maybe a 30% that's right at the edge of the European models view. Uh but Sunday doesn't look quite as wet as Saturday, but Saturday is not looking that bad either. Again, we'll have to continue to see how that evolves, but it is looking like mainly
uh lower end light to moderate rain chances that we'll just need to keep an eye on. Uh that is for next Saturday and Sunday. Tomorrow and Sunday, this weekend is looking very nice with only very isolated chances for showers and highs right near the 80 degree mark. Lows right near 60. It's practically the exact same forecast both days. And that's what we're going to be getting with that blocking pattern. Very consistent forecasting uh going forward. It both makes our jobs uh easier and harder in both directions because I get in my head about forecasting the same thing every single day. Uh but also, you know, if it ends up being the same thing every single day, it ends up being an
easy forecast. I just start it starts to bother me. But uh an easy week for forecasting ahead of Crusade. Not that big of a deal. We're okay with that until about Thursday when that pattern does begin to change and that's how we get those rain chances next Saturday. Uh so and Sunday. So here are the temperatures right now. We're in the low to mid70s. Due points beginning to fall. Uh we're still right at that 60°ree mark for due points, but yesterday we were in the mid to upper 60s. So uh we are seeing things get better with that. That should get better through the weekend, too. And then wind gusts right now
mainly out of the north and east. The east northeast really up to about 12 miles per hour. And uh here's that look again at I65 near hospital curve. I'm actually going to throw up the fourbox look at I65 because once again uh you need to be prepared for I65 to shut down in both directions on Monday. uh from downtown until uh the Wat uh that fivemile stretch will be shut down in both directions on I65. It will begin Monday and it will be shut down through July 31st. You need to be prepared for this. Uh it is going to impact a significant portion of Louisvilleians and people that travel to Louisville for work. So uh please be ready for this. Come Monday, you're going to have to take a detour. You're
going to have to use a different way to get around on Monday. They are heavily signing uh I65. They are getting the word out and we're trying to get the word out, too. Uh because a lot of people have are still unaware that this is going to happen. Here's a live look at satellite and radar. Everything looking good for now. Uh we have some cloud cover, but we're starting to see some sunshine and we should see some sunshine throughout the afternoon. You can see when that wind shifts to a more east northeast direction and that's going to continue to shift as we head uh into the weekend and into early Monday when that uh blocking omega block pattern uh really sets up over the United States. So, uh
that is what we're looking at over the next few hours. That's what we're looking at for now. Uh we're going to really quickly take this live look from our UL campus camera overlooking downtown Louisville from the campus of the Cardinals. And you can see a bit of a bluer sky from this vantage point. Uh when you're looking southward, uh the view is a little cloudier. So it's a little uh clearer when looking in a more northward direction at Louisville. So real nice day uh for your Friday. get out and enjoy this day if you can. Uh plan for a fun weekend because last weekend was real wet, real rainy.
Uh so uh plan for a fun weekend this weekend if you had to cancel some outdoor stuff uh last weekend. So uh do that outdoor stuff this weekend. It'll be real nice to get out and enjoy. We're going to take one more quick break and then we'll be back with a final look at your 7-day forecast. We'll be right back. Welcome back. I'm meteorologist Austin Evans and you're watching Weather Impact Live, our daily web show uh from the WHS1 Plus studio brought to you by Humanana. Uh this will be the last one for the week as it is Friday. Happy Friday. Here's your weekend forecast. We'll dive in uh just to it and we'll get to it. Uh highs near 80 both days, lows near 60 both nights. Uh going to be
a real nice weekend. Very little for rain chances, only isolated chances for rain. Don't worry about it. In fact, here are the rain chances the next 5 days. Uh and they're going to be very isolated through Monday before we start to see that blocking pattern set up uh Monday. Uh so we're going to see this blocking pattern set up over the country. It gives us a pretty much nationwide weather pattern where everyone under the ridge, under the high pressure is going to be uh seeing a lot of sunshine, a lot of relatively comfortable conditions and uh very little for rain. So, uh we got some nice weather ahead of us. We got a really nice stretch ahead of us. As this is happening later in the summer, we'd be talking dangerous record heat.
Thankfully, that's not the case right now. So, we can actually look forward to it and see that humidity likely drop, too. And uh you can see those temperatures going to be dropping to about 80 and they're going to stay there for several days. So, uh real nice weather on the way. Real consistent weather on the way in the leadup to Crusade weekend. Now, unfortunately, the blocking pattern does change by about Thursday and we are looking at rain chances next weekend for Crusade weekend. Hopefully, they won't be that big of a deal, but we'll be keeping an eye on it. You can see some blue skies on our cameras. Satellite and radar showing that as well. So, we'll go through futurecast one more time and uh you can see the rest of your Friday
going to be uneventful. Uh otherwise with cloud cover increasing late tonight and then your Saturday morning could see a couple of isolated showers here and there, but nothing major expected at all. And that's going to be the case all weekend. very isolated shower chances mainly in the morning hours with a little bit of cloud cover here and there, but lots of sunshine across much of Kentucky and that will continue into Monday. So, uh a pretty quiet uh forecast here, not that bad. Again, things are going to be very consistent. You're going to see it with our forecasts. You're going to see it with other meteorologists forecasts over the next seven days. They're all going to look very, very similar. Uh, and that is because of this blocking
pattern that is setting up. You can see Saturday through Wednesday, highs every day are within like 3°. Lows every night are within like two degrees uh with uh very little if any rain chances going forward. Uh Monday, uh that isolated early chance in the morning. And that's really about it. That is your weather forecast. We have this blocking pattern on the way that's going to set up a very consistent and quiet stretch of uh weather for Kentucky Anna until we get into late week where rain chances do make their return. And we're going to be keeping an eye on the rain chances for Crusade weekend as well. As for now, uh I've been meteorologist Austin Evans with Weather Impact Live. Again, this is every Monday
through Friday here from the WHS11 Plus studios brought to you by Humana, uh where we talk about the forecast and go into detail. And usually there's more than one person, but today just one person. So, uh this was the 7-day forecast. I'll show it one more time. There it is. Take your notes and uh plan for a nice weekend and a nice quiet week ahead. I've been meteorologist Austin Evans. Have a fantastic rest of your Friday and if I don't see you, have a good again.
