Good morning, adventurers. Good morning, y'all. And welcome to another absolutely beautiful day here in the Faroe Islands. So, if you guys have been following along, you know that we have been traveling all over these islands, enjoying the insane scenery, and we completely fell in love with all of the grass-roof houses. So, we decided, why not get one of our own? And I think it might be the coolest one on all of the Faroe Islands.
Well, the house should be over here somewhere on the water. I guess that we're just supposed to park on the this little spot on the side of the road. I think so. Little bit of a tight spot, but it'll do. So, we've arrived, and our house is over that guardrail. Are you sure there's not some other way to get over there? That bee just flew into your bag there. In my bag? Oh, he's in my bag! Get out of my bag! Rude! Dang, these bees are aggressive around here. You're doing great, kid. Okay. Let me go to this side.
Yeah. But, uh Well, this is kind of cool, huh? All right, I'm not even inside, but confirmed, this is one of the coolest places we have ever stayed. Have we entered the Shire or what? What's going on here? are hobbits around here, and fairies and such? Yeah, watch out for Smeagol. Oh, god. Shut up. Acting. Well, come on in, y'all. Welcome to our adorable tiny house here in the Faroe Islands. Is this location amazing or what? The house is built into this rocky cliffside. You get unobstructed ocean views, and of course, the roof is
totally covered in grass. Later on, we want to take you guys outside and explore the little coastline here. We can I think we have direct access to the water down there, and then show you more of the outside of the house because it is very cool how it's built, especially that green roof. But first, let's take a little peek at what's on the inside of our little tiny house. Little tiny house? Our tiny little house? Does that sound better? A teeny, tiny, little bitty Whatever. You get it. It's a tiny house. They have a very good design sense in this country. I don't know if you guys caught one of our last videos, we actually stayed in another place that was on the coast, did not have the green
roof, sadly, but it was basically this size, and it was just as well designed. Everything is super polished, very clean, and most places have at least some kind of raw wood, which you know we love. Okay, but first off, did you guys notice my sweet socks? You aren't allowed to wear shoes in here, so they give you hand-knitted woolen socks to wear. Well, I didn't know that. No, I Can I get some? They do have a pair for fellas, and I'm wondering, would they notice if we took them with us? Cuz they are awesome. They're so comfy. Woohoo! Mine are even cooler than yours. Oh, yours are very cool. Much better. Woohoo! Very nice. I love them.
This is the living room. I didn't fall. That's pretty good. man. Woo! Yeah. I can move and walk all over the place here. But they have done a very good job at managing the space here. As you walk in, you just have a bee line directly to the balcony. And then on the right side, you have this very nice, simple, well-designed living room area. Over to my right, we have this quaint little seating area over there. And then on the other side is the dining room table with four little chairs there. And of course, they have to have some like sheep wool. That ain't bad at all. Should have seen it coming. I almost started laughing before I finished doing that.
They have a full-ish kitchen. They got a sink, and then oven-stove combo. No dishwasher, so you got to do it by hand. And they do have a mini fridge, but no freezer in there, which is kind of a bummer. They've done some treatment on here that makes it kind of look like plaster, but I think it's just really thick paint. But it looks very luxurious. Like, it definitely fooled me. And of course, I love these floors, these big wooden planks. They're very sturdy. So, theoretically, this place will sleep six people, two of which would have to sleep up in this little loft area. You have to climb this very teeny, tiny, very not structurally sound-looking ladder up to the smallest loft in the world. This
might be Clementine-sized, y'all. But all that's holding you up is this little triangle that's got two screws going into this. Pretty sketch. Oh, shoot. Did you just watch me die? I almost pulled the ladder right off of that. Don't want to do that. Don't love it. I love you. Okay, restart. Yeah. So, we won't be sleeping up here because I don't want to have to go down this when I have to pee in the middle of the night. The peak of the house makes it very tight up here, so you have to either be a contortionist
or a little person, like me. And what's really cool is that directly above you is a bunch of grass and dirt. Oh, it's like, where? Um past the wood. That's why it's insulated so well. There is somehow an actual bedroom in here. They really took advantage of the space. The bed is a bit small, though. And there's still an opportunity for me to bonk my head. Yes, there is. Sitting up real fast will wake you up like that. Or put your lights out put me back to sleep. And back in this corner is the bathroom. And it's very cozy. Come on in.
I don't think I want to. Yeah, this is one of the more awkward bathrooms that we've ever encountered. So, we will be taking a shower like this. Or a bath, I guess. I don't know. We haven't quite worked that one out yet. I can't say I've ever done this before. It feels very awkward, especially with all of you watching me. At least my clothes are still on. Now, you got to show us your technique, but one that Kramer would be proud of. We do a lot of Seinfeld references on this channel, huh? Cuz somebody might have an obsession. I watch a lot of Seinfeld. I'm not going to tell you guys how much because you'd probably think I'm insane. But it's my favorite show. I
love it. But a lot of the bathrooms here, and in Europe in general, they don't seem to completely close the shower off. I don't know why, but a lot of water gets all over the room, and it kind of bugs us. But they do have heated floors. They've got the world's tiniest sink, but it does the job. I guess that's it. That's the bathroom. I'm out of here. But this right here is the main highlight of this house, the balcony that overlooks the rocky cliffside, the sea off in the distance, all the land, the islands, the greenery. It's pretty incredible. But the only downside is they don't have any chairs out here, so you have to stand and enjoy.
Well, this is really dang cool, huh? A little slippery. This is such a cool thing to have just right out your front door, huh? It kind of reminds me of when we were in that floating house off the coast of Florida. But this is much nicer cuz they're not doing this all day long. From down here, you can kind of see how the house is built. It's actually just got this really rough stonework, but the stones are huge. It looks like the cliff was formed by Mother Nature, and then the house was, too. And it's black, just like our tiny house. Yeah, we're a sucker for black houses. We love it. Allison just noticed we have a potential visitor. There's an adorable little I guess it's a seal. A sea lion?
Yeah, a sea lion poking his little head up over there. He's He's looking at us, and I think he wants to come over here and hang out. I'm hoping he's just going to appear right here all of the sudden. I mean, this is a perfect spot for him, right? come up here and be our best friend. The view is pretty dang incredible. You can see all the little bits of land out there. There's a big island right in the middle there. It's like your own little private coast. It's awesome. If you've been watching our videos up here in the Faroe Islands, you already know that there is a system of tunnels built into the rock underneath the water that connects most of the islands together. There's actually a huge one
underneath this water, right where we're standing. So, if you looked from the top down, there's actually a road that goes underneath this. This is the one that has that little roundabout right in the middle of it. There's like traffic under here. Yeah, it's very cool. Humans do cool things sometimes. This is kind of funny. I noticed that they're just using like a trash bag to cover up this like I guess it's an electrical connection. It just seems kind of funny to me. They go through all this trouble. Like, 99% of this place is really polished and really well done, almost perfect, and then you have a trash bag hanging on the side of the house. There's got to be a better way. But this is one thing we love about the
Faroe Islands. They seem to really care about placement and covering up the trash can. They have it hidden in this little thing, and it's right next to the front door. You don't have to go hunting for it. Pretty cool. Well, confirmed, the grass on the roof is very much real. I'm going to get down before I go sliding off of this. It's very slippery. But how cool is this? It's about this thick of dirt and grass, I believe. But I came across this little PDF that shows in depth how these roofs are actually constructed, and it is very cool. Back in the day, they used to use birch bark. They would put five layers
of birch, and each layer would last about 10 years, so you'd have 50-year lifespan on your roof before you had to replace it. They actually stopped doing that in like the '50s, '60s, '70s, somewhere around that, because the birch was way too expensive. They started to use this tar paper stuff, and then the roots would just grow through it. So, that wasn't any good. Nowadays, what they do is they put a felt paper on there, they put plastic, and then they put some kind of netting. So, I guess the roots can't get through any of that stuff. You will notice though on some of the green roofs, there is a little bit of birch sticking out. That's because any visible spot where you can actually
see underneath the dirt, they will have the birch bark there, so it looks like it's authentic. It'd be really cool to plant like a bunch of really vibrant flowers on top of one. I wonder if they do that. Maybe they just don't really grow here. I haven't seen many flowers, but they must have to have some really strong lumber for the rooftop because just the snow load alone can be a lot of weight. So, imagine having a foot of earth on top of your house that can also get snow on it. I just walked out on the balcony to get some fresh air and noticed there are about a million jellyfish down there. They're just washing up on the rocks and stuff. There are just so many at every corner of the property. What the heck is
going on? They're all alive, too. They're swimming around. Just uh climbing a guardrail, no big deal. Yeah, this is the awkward part of this house. You got to climb up there, and your car's right over there. Don't get killed. I didn't. So, right across the bay from the little house that we're staying in is this lake that is pretty incredible. There are so many goofy little sheep. Right when we got out of our car, there was one just really ominously staring at us. But man, is this magical? It looks like the Loch Ness Monster is just going to come right out of there.
It's kind of crazy to imagine just uh you know, living here. Yeah, this is your daily walk or we come with your dog. Is this Yeah, to have such close access to such incredible beauty almost seems unfair. That it definitely does. Now, I know we chose to live in Texas where nothing like this exists, but I mean, we can still dream, right? We can get multiple properties. Trying to be a lady. I feel like everywhere I point my camera on this island or these islands looks amazing. Oh, it's just This looks awesome. Beautiful. Mostly because I'm in it. And you're carrying a bunch of goodies.
Went to the grocery store, and they make you pay for baggies, so I'm holding everything. You guys, can I just say I'm in love with this place? I've just been enjoying this a lot. It's so cool. It's one of those places where we haven't left it. Usually, you go out and explore. I mean, other than the little walk, but we're just staying in all day tomorrow as well just to take it all in. All right, it's 1:00. 1:00, 1:00, 1:00. Well, cheers. Oh, yes. Not a bad spot to chill and watch the sunset, huh? No, not at all. Although, it might be a bit of a cloudy sunset, but it's beautiful nonetheless. The weather here is so
crazy, you guys. It'll just be foggy, then it'll be cloudy, then the sun will come out. But man, it is at all times and every direction, it is so moody. Like look at the clouds rolling in over that island over there. Oh my god. It's so cool. Now, if only that little sea lion sea otter thing will come back. Where are you? What are you doing? Uh trying to find the trapdoor. Jeez. Oh, that was just a shoehorn. Yeah, according to the sign over there, there's a trapdoor, and this is where the laundry is. That's how you get below the house into the basement.
Right? My laundry be this? Good. No way. That looks creepy. Okay, I knew there was a laundry. I just assumed you got to it outside. Okay. Is there a flashlight or any kind of light? Or is there Oh my god. Oh, this is cool. Woo. Okay, bye. Have fun down there. No, don't close it. No, it's scary. Oh, I found the light switch. Hoho, all right. Let there be light. All right, cool. There's a little boat down here. So, you can see kind of some of the inner workings. They have like a drop ceiling
here, and then there's a bunch of foam insulation here keeping everything all warm. And then of course, you have the stone walls that the foundation is built out of. And then this is the actual rock from outside. So, they just built it on top of this. There's like a little bit of concrete around it. That is pretty cool. You decided to join me. Well, you were gone for a long time, so I got curious. Well, I've just been poking around at everything trying to figure out how it all works. Oh, wow. Holy moly, they got a washer and dryer, huh?
I was wondering the floors are very warm, and the uh bathroom right above us has a heated floor. So, I guess this is how they do it. They put the foam insulation there. Also, confirmed, just took a shower, and it was the most awkward shower in the entire world. have to sit down and Yeah, and I couldn't even put my legs straight. I had to sit there cross-legged. It was a little awkward, to say the least. I should have popped in to take a look. You definitely missed out. No, nobody needed to see that. I guarantee you.
Just like that, our Feral Island adventures have come to a close. Mwah. I know. I hate leaving, but this has been one magical, delicious, and not delicious trip. But it was adventurous, the food anyway. Yes. And the rest of it. We lived up to our channel name. It was an endless adventure every single dang day. But we're a little over the cold and the rain and the clouds. So, we're heading south, y'all, to Portugal where the sun is shining, it's 80°. We were actually there not too long ago, but we didn't get to see enough, and it was very chilly. So, we're going back this time in the summertime, and we're going to take it in this time. We're going to I
think end up drinking our way through Portugal. Nothing new there. No. They've got wineries out the wazoo, and we are just going to see some beautiful landscape. I think some maybe some coastal views. I don't know. Still kind of planning things. And you know what they have in Lisbon? A camera store. So, I can get a new lens. Eric has been fantasizing about going to this camera store. Do you have any you, so I should stop complaining about it. been complaining a lot behind the scenes. Yeah, so there's going to be no more weird blurring like you see over here. I'm going to be able to zoom again cuz right now I'm stuck on 20 mm.
It's all going to be so good. Goodbye, adventures. We'll see on the road.
