I saw someone say it was like an
anthem from for male loneliness.
Performing it is like the best part and
I don't I don't have to like think
about
the the male loneliness part of it cuz
now I just get to perform it in
front of
people and shake my little ass.
Big fat ass, I mean.
We got into the studio and we always
start really kind of early, like 11:00
a.m.
Taylor would come in in the morning with his coffee and he would like sit at
the piano right away and he started playing
the chords or a version of those
chords and I was like, "I end my day." And we started jamming in the room.
We
had so many versions.
At the last minute we just switched something around in the
chorus and then we were like, "This feels
like the turbocharged version.
This is like High Hopes 3000." And so
I was like, "Maybe we should call it
that." I end my day the same way
it started, alone in LA while I grieve
the departed.
Waiting.
Waiting for someone to change my life.
Hey, when I'm in album mode my life is also very repetitive.
There's not much
of a social aspect when like every week,
Monday through Friday, you are
going to the studio from 11:00 to 9:00 p.m.
And then you're like dead and you don't It is lonely.
Brand new shirt.
Yes, it's
a little expensive.
Oh, whatever works to put some joy in the engine.
You know, I say anything to
put some joy in the engine, but I don't know how much that really helps.
But
sometimes you get like the perfect shirt and
you're like, "Put some joy in the
engine." It's like retail therapy and I go
out on the town trying to change my
night.
Mhm.
And doing it over and over and over and over again.
Oh, hell.
An ideal night
for me would be like dinner with friends,
paying as the food comes so you
don't have to sit so long.
Maybe like one drink now.
And um yeah.
Go home.
I need some high hopes.
Lord knows I could use them.
I know I'm a loser when the wheels fall off.
Hey now, lend some independence, stuck inside the fences like a goddamn dog.
I
think the worst part about dating every first
day you're having to start from
like ground zero.
What do you do for work?
Where are you from?
Oh, how what took you to LA?
It's really annoying.
At a certain point, I'm just
like you just hit where it's just rock bottom.
That's the point where I start
googling adoption places for dogs and stuff and
I'm like I need something.
Long nights, heavy feelings.
They say I'm unappealing when I shoot my shot.
Come here, honey.
Show me how to do it.
Does love come around or does one come
around to it?
Oh, yeah.
I think I was eager in kind of a pathetic way to find love.
And I think when you are that eager,
you're kind of missing
the plot a little bit.
And I think good things will find you.
I don't think anything good comes from
like being desperate cuz then you're going to
be like blinded a little bit.
I get undressed in the arms of a
stranger then second guess that all have
sober behavior.
Feeling like you have a girlfriend or something or a partner for like one night
is kind of romantic but also if you're
waking up in the morning and you're
second guessing, I mean, that hurts a little
bit but I think you just have to
go into those things knowing that maybe this
person's a band-aid and not your
love for life, I don't know.
Do I really Do I really believe that someone could
change my life?
I'm doing it over and over and over and over again.
Where does it end?
When I was making the album, it was just like a lot of back
and forth of like do I know best?
Is there like something
within me that I need to fix myself
and then go go put myself out there
or will putting
myself out there fix whatever It's like you know Who knows?
That one I don't have an
answer for.
Woo!
Talking about high high hopes hopes.
Lord knows I could use them.
I
know I'm a lose them when the wheels fall off.
Hey hey.
Now now.
Lend some
independence stuck inside the fences like a god damn dog.
Okay now.
The
bridge is really fun.
I've never made anything like that.
This was like
musical and like fun and loose but still
like pop feeling but also like touches
of country.
It was like this perfect cocktail of everything I love.
I think that challenge of yes on paper
these songs can be
pretty depressing but sonically like distracting people from
that is like the goal.
