so remember the whole conversation about a Galaxy fold that can finally compete with the designs we've seen from Chinese manufacturers well let's just say we've got some possible good and uh sort of bad news for the last couple of weeks we've seen some subtle hints that Samsung is working on yet another product launch that could finally address how competition is just owning foldable designs at first we thought we'd get some sort of teaser at the Galaxy unpacked if not a product but uh that actually didn't happen we sort of saw a teaser of something that's more related to VR reports in this sense claim it'll still happen this year but under an interesting launch approach I'm he rera with pocket now and it's time

for another Deep dive this time for a possible Galaxy zold special edition so for a bit of context it's no secret that Samsung has been making some design moves when they hired Huey Lee at the beginning of last year it makes sense for the company to think out outside the box and bringing a design expert from a completely different industry this time being Mercedes and Automotive but uh then that has left their ability to change in a bit of a pickle usually smartphone designs can take up to 3 years to come to fruition we've seen it in how Chinese manufacturers took at least three generations to perfect their foldables but then that's precisely the problem Samsung is facing for competitors the 3 years are already over and for Samsung

we're barely at half of it seriously new approach could not come sooner but we hear it won't be all the stuff that we've been wanting to get from the company when it comes to the design reports have it that Samsung is working on a new foldable smartphone called the Galaxy Z fold special edition this rumor has been backed by a couple of sources and now we have a possible image of what this might look like at the first glance it looks a lot like the Galaxy cold 6 which makes sense butth one big difference is that the special edition is thinner now in everything else well the phone seems to have a flat frame with slightly rounded Corners they're not going to reinvent the wheel here the

camera setup is also different from the fold six so it will be easier to tell the two phones apart even though the camera Island might look thicker it's important to remember that the phone itself is thinner which could be why the back of this device looks like brush metal but it's probably glass made to look like that the power button which also works as a fingerprint sensor is on the right side along with the volume buttons just like pretty much every other Samsung phone now when the phone is unfolded it's only 4.9 mm thick but then when folded it's 10.6 mm yeah it's a dramatic Improvement compared to Samsung's current model but not something that'll break records we've yet to hear how the company plants to

deal with the width of the outer display though but I'm sure more information will emerge soon now the biggest elephant in the room for the Galaxy zold has always been since Generation 3 how to tuck the S Pen I love having it ability but hate needing a case for it this Galaxy zold special edition will most definitely have support for it and especially when honor Oppo and even techno are providing the functionality yes I know this goes against an earlier rumor that said that we wouldn't be getting an S Pen but I see it highly unlikely given how it continues to be Samsung's differentiating factor and will it work on the outer screen of this device uh it's really hard to tell now

all that being said even if the phone does support the Spen it will most likely not be in a slot inside it I mean even when we saw thicker prototypes at the company's Design Studio that had an Espen tucked in the impact on the overall footprint and the heft of the design was just outrageous so it does make sense for the trend to continue I seriously wish they'd figure out how to make it part of the hinge or something but hopefully that happens in the future now once we switch the conversation to Specs this is when things start getting tricky reports have that this zold special edition will feature the same core specifications as the bace model meaning that it will be powered by the

Snapdragon agen 3 for Galaxy with 12 gigs of RAM I know we're already so close to the next Snapdragon Summit that this is already making the phone slightly unattractive I know honor and others have followed the same strategy of using old chips but uh for Samsung this would be probably the first time now as for the rest of the internals we hear that it will also have the same storage options from 256 gigs to 1 tbyte obviously not expandable which is sad considering that the SIM card slot is pretty much designed for the functionality since I don't know what last year we also hear a 4,400 mAh battery and then the other unattractive bit is that it'll reportedly run on Android 14 seriously at this point I'm

already concerned when the company might plan to announce this phone if it ever does because even that would not play in its favor anyways a possible Improvement is that we hear that the cameras will change right now the camera system on the base model includes a 50 megap triple camera setup and the 4 megapix internal front camera that's useless reports have that at least the primary sensor of this new special edition will feature Samsung's 200 megapixel main camera though it's unclear about the rest now we just wonder if it'll be butchered in functionality compared to the ultra pretty much like we see between the pixel 9 Pro and the 9 Pro fold last but not least let's talk about

possible availability as this is another bit of a disappointment when I read the news at the moment there are no rumors or official information yet regarding the release date for this special edition device leaving us in the dark about when we can expect to see this new model hit the market some say October but seriously we're pretty much already on top of that the main problem is availability as sadly reports suggest that the special edition could be limited to certain countries at launch some rumors hint that it might be exclusive to certain countries in Asia which pretty much follows the Chinese Playbook of uh testing the product first before massive adoption this could mean

that users in other parts of the world like Europe or North America might not have access to it at least not at launch in order to test the waters with less of a risk which we know it's probably the way we just cover these products in the United States and other countries to conclude let's just say that uh while the new zold special edition is a must we wonder if it's in Samsung's best interest to keep this product at Bay for its major markets I'm definitely excited for the possibility of this phone even if it launches too late just to finally see what the company can do from a design perspective particularly with Hue Lee's new tenure whether that happens or not it's yet to be seen but uh one can

only hope let's just see how October ends up playing out cuz we already have the pixels let me know what you think about this possible update in the comments down below and while you're at it follow us on social media and subscribe to our channel for more videos like this one you can also follow me on my personal handles to see me want this particular fold more than ever please give this video a thumbs up if you like what you saw I'm thanks so much for watching we'll see you on the next one
