We Have Been Overpaying for Tents - Tomount 1 Person Backpacking Tent. | Transcript:

Friends, welcome to this edition of Outdoor Gear Review. I hope you are well. Here I have, friends, a brand new tent recently released by one of my favorite companies. This is from MC 2 Mount, at least that's what I call this company. We'll talk about that a little later. This is a single tent with a very interesting design. Just wait until you see it. This is more of a preliminary review, but know this: I have already started testing it and have some experience with it. I will share my impressions with you in this issue. But before I do that, let's talk about the company name and the confusion surrounding it. I learned about this company many years ago. I came across one of their tents.

It seems it was on Temu. Then I saw their products on Amazon. The company name in the ads on Temu and Amazon was MC 2 Mount. When I purchased these items, the storage cases said Two Mount. I never understood why this discrepancy arose. In the store, it was MC2mount, and the product logos said Two Mount. In the end, I decided to call the company MC2mount, since that is the name under which most of their products are presented online. Over the years, I began to notice on Amazon, where there are many products of this brand, that the company name changes depending on the ad. Sometimes it's MC2mount. Sometimes-Two Mount.

Sometimes the ads have a completely different brand name, but the products have the Two Mount logo. The other day I decided to look into this and wrote to the company asking for clarification. This is what they answered me. I read from my notes: "Teton Mount is our brand of " "MC Outdoor is a name used for some of our online storefronts, not a separate tent brand." This unfortunately does not explain the discrepancies, because, again, there are MC Teton Mount products on Amazon, Teton Mount products, and also a third brand called Rove It.what is it? Roveti? If I pronounce it correctly, although I probably don't. This company, this brand sells Teton Mount products, which only adds to the confusion. With this tent, if you

start looking for a Teton Mount single camping tent, you won't find one. You need to look for a single camping tent. I don't understand what this company is doing at all. I have no idea why there are so many names here. Ultimately, I'm only interested in the product, and I can say that this company knows its stuff 98% of the time. I've tested about a dozen of their products over the years, and they've all been very original, extremely high quality, and very cheap. Of all the products I tested, only three had a design that I personally didn't like. At the same time, I have never had any problems with any of their products leaking. Sorry to dig into this mess, but I felt I had to explain the difference between the brand names as best I could. It doesn't make

any sense to me. This is a bit strange. Fortunately, there is nothing strange about this tent. So let's take a look at it now. If you decide to purchase this tent, here is what you will get. The tent itself, as well as bedding. This litter is surprisingly light, but not as light as my 3F UL single litter. Because of this, I didn't use it, but it's great that the litter is included. The tent itself has a drawstring at the top. We have the tent canopy, inner part, frame, pegs, stretchers and storage bag. The tent frame is made of aluminum, it is a solid spider" type construction. The kit includes 12 pegs, four stretchers, and a repair

kit for the tent and frame If you look at the inside, you can see a "bathtub" type bottom that does not rise very high. That's about 6 and a half inches above the ground. There is a lot of mesh here. All this mesh will provide very good ventilation. We have one door in the front, and in the back-the same interesting feature I talked about earlier. In this tent, when the awning is up, you can use the vestibule near the door or the vestibule on the other side thanks to this zippered access. This is a very, very clever feature because it gives you access to a lot of space on the other side of the tent. Space that is not usually used.

The doors have two zippers. One moves in one direction, and the other in the opposite direction. Inside we have two mesh pockets. One at the headboard, the other at the footboard. There is an access point to an additional vestibule here. And on top is a hook for hanging things. As you all can see, getting in and out of this tent is pretty easy. And all because there is a large entrance. There is quite a lot of space inside. As for the width, it is 22 inches at the top. Below-approximately 28 inches. Regarding the maximum height, 41 inches. As for length, we have 77 inches, or in other words-6 feet 5 inches. So, no doubt this

tent is a bit narrow, but quite long. At the same time, it is quite tall. With the awning, the tent is fully set up. The installation process is very easy and straightforward. There is nothing complicated here that could confuse you. There are buckles at the corners that secure the awning to the interior. There are small clips near the doors and on the back that attach to the arches. In general, to securely fix the entire tent. There is a safety valve in front, near the door. The door has two panels, one and two. You can roll them both up, just one, or keep them closed. This tent has two ventilation holes: one on one side, the other on the opposite side. As for the design, it is really very beautiful. But the company made a mistake here. The

peg attachment points near the door, rear and sides are not adjustable. This means that when installing the awning, you may not achieve perfect tension because the attachment points are not adjustable. In addition, since any material stretches, making adjustments is quite inconvenient, because you have to rearrange the peg instead of tightening the cord. This is where the company went wrong. If they had made the attachment points fully adjustable, this tent would have gotten a 10 out of 10 for design. Fortunately, this is a very minor problem and very easy to fix. You can use 550 cord or dyneema, whatever, add adjustable stretchers to the attachment points, and the problem is solved.

Finally, if you want, you can take one of the guy wires and use it. Cut it into pieces, tie it, and you 're done. It is worth noting that this tent has four guy lines and four points for attaching them. Here, when one of the door panels is thrown back, you can see that there is a lot of space in the vestibule. There is definitely enough space here for a backpack, shoes, you can put a burner, etc. Additionally, there is an access point to the entire vestibule on the other side of the tent. Of course, you can't fit everything through this hole, but smaller items like shoes can definitely be left there. Now, friends, briefly about the technical specifications. This is obviously a three-season tent. In other words, it is designed for the warmer months. This is a

single tent. It has one door. It has two ventilation holes. The color of the tent is dark gray. This gray shade has a slight purple undertone. This is definitely not a classic " urban" gray, but the color itself is quite successful. I like him. When folded, its dimensions are 40 by 15 centimeters. In other words, when folded, it is quite compact. Regarding the materials: it is 20D ripstop nylon with a hydrostatic head of 4000 mm on the tent and floor. There are aluminum arcs, aluminum pegs, and YKK zippers. The weight of this tent is 1.7 kg, and the price, friends, is only $99. Now, folks, I'll share my impressions of using the tent after the first outing. As for the quality, given the very low price, you expect it to not be the best. But this

tent is made impeccably. Every stitch is perfect. There is not a single thread sticking out. The seam sealing looks perfect. I've seen tents from companies like Big Agnes, Nemo, and North Face that look worse in terms of construction quality than this one . 2 Mount always does a great job with their products, and this tent is no exception. As for the design, I like everything about this tent except the peg attachment points. They should be adjustable. Fortunately, this can be fixed on your own, so it's not a big problem. He is almost perfect. 2 Mount, make sure all your peg attachment points are adjustable.

This is an important function. I'm surprised that it's the end of 2026 and companies still don't know that attachment points need to be adjustable. The problem with non-adjustable mounting points is not a 2 Mount problem. This is an industry-wide problem. Many companies for some reason do not make their peg attachment points adjustable. In any case, regarding the interior space of the tent: it is narrow, but at the same time long and tall. It is perfect for people up to 193 cm tall. You can also fit someone 196 cm tall, but then your head or feet will touch the walls. So I would say that for comfort, the height should be up to 193 cm. That said, condensation has not been an issue with this tent so far, and I have used it

in the rain, at 100% humidity, with the tent fully zipped up. Condensation was not a problem either inside or on the tent, and that's because the tent provides excellent airflow. We have this whole grid. Second, all this mesh allows moisture to pass through it and vent to the outside. Third, the awning does not reach the ground. And fourth, the awning is remote from the interior, so you don't have to worry about moisture coming into contact with the interior. I'll tell everyone again: the design of this tent is really very good. As for the hotspot, it's an interesting feature, but I don't know how useful it is. If you want to put smaller items there, like shoes, you certainly can, but a backpack won't fit through that hole. If you want to

put it in the vestibule on that side, you'll have to go around the back of the tent and push it in there. This is definitely an interesting feature that most people have n't seen before. This is very rare, but not entirely unheard of. But will it be useful? It's up to you. Personally, I don't like leaving my gear outside the tent because of ticks. There is a large tick population in the mountains of Western North Carolina, so I don't want to keep any of my gear outside. Now let's talk about waterproofing. Without a doubt, this tent has proven to be waterproof. On the one trip I took with this tent, we had about 20 minutes of moderate rain, and no leaks. Then at night we had a heavy downpour for maybe 30 minutes and again no leaks.

After that, it rained lightly all night, and again we didn't have any leaks. I already mentioned that the peg attachment points are not adjustable. Fortunately, you can fix this yourself. One issue that will be a little more difficult is the small storage bag. This bag barely fits this tent. You have to roll it extremely tightly and very precisely to make it fit in that bag. You can stuff it in there, but in real life, during a trip, the tent may be completely wet from rain or condensation. Rolling it up tightly enough to fit inside can be a real pain. My advice is to buy a larger storage bag than this one, just to make your life easier. I don't know about you, but it really annoys me when I try to fold my tent, roll it up,

and put it away, and it won't fit. This waste of time really, really annoys me. If this also annoys you, get a larger storage bag. I promise you'll be glad you did. This brings us to the final point I want to cover in this episode, and that is about value for money. This tent is quite light. It is not ultralight, but the quality of the materials is excellent. There are YKK zippers, nylon ripstop with taped seams, and a very high hydrostatic pressure rating. The tent is quite long and quite tall. In other words, very spacious. The design is great. The functionality is excellent. And imagine, the price is only 100 dollars. Tell me, friends, what tent with these features and materials can you buy for only $100? This is one of the features that makes this tent

so unique and really impressed me. When it comes to 2 mount, rove tier or anything else, let's just say- 2 mount tents. Again, their designs are usually really, really good. The materials are also really high quality. Water resistance indicators are very, very high. And their prices are very, very low. This tent is, without a doubt, the leader among inexpensive budget models. But he is not the only one of his kind. This company has a whole range of single tents that are similar in design to this one. Some of them have other colors. Maybe they don't have that entrance from the back. But then again, we have easy options. And, interestingly, they are also from 2 mounts. Based on my tests, I was very

impressed with this tent, especially for what you get for the money. I recently tested a very expensive Durston tent, the X-Dome, and it leaked incredibly badly. And this is a very expensive tent. Instead, here we have a tent for $99, and no problems. This was, of course, a release without any hidden goals. I don't care at all whether you buy this product. It doesn't matter to me share information, thoughts, and experiences, and that's it. If you like this content, please give it a like. Oh yes. Until next time, friends. Take care of yourself. God bless you. Strength and honor. See you later.
