Let's Catch Up! | New channel, Back in Argentina & Renovations Ahead! | Transcript:

All right. Action. Hello friends. Here we are. Welcome back to the channel. Samuel and Audrey here. We thought it would be fun to sit down, catch you up, and talk about a few different things because it's been a lot of travel content from all over the place recently. We also have lots of changes coming up in terms of the content we're going to be publishing. So, we thought we should talk about it. Absolutely. Well, hey, we're in Argentina and specifically the Sierras of Córdoba. This is an area we've been coming back to for several years now. And I have to say, I'm very happy to be back here this time. Yes, it is late spring right now in the southern hemisphere and it has just been beautiful. As you guys know, if you've

been following the channel for a while, we have been renovating a hotel and a property with multiple houses in Argentina for a few years now. So, that is the reason why we're back here. That is the reason why we keep coming to Argentina every year for several months. and also to escape the Canadian winter. And that too. I mean, short sleeves. Yes. Thank you. Yeah. Yeah, I mean, look at this. I'm in my shorts. Yes, exactly. Love it. So, I guess the first thing we want to talk about is the fact that we're going to be starting a new channel and moving all of the renovation content, all of

the rural lifestyle in Argentina content over to a new space for several reasons. Yeah, so one of the main reasons is that our travel channel, our main Samuel and Audrey channel, which you're watching right now, has over 1,000 videos just related to travel. So, when we kind of pivoted to this new niche, it's like the YouTube algorithm wasn't really accepting it. They're like, "You guys are a travel channel." And they weren't really showing the renovation videos to a wider audience. That's a whole niche in and of itself. So, we're thinking with a dedicated renovation and life in Argentina channel, it's going to reach the right audience, the correct audience. Definitely. That's something

that we have read in the comments, you guys asking us to just start a new channel. You're interested in the stuff, but you want to see it elsewhere. And also, I mean, like our inner circle family friends have also suggested it. And we really resisted because we know the work that goes into starting a new channel, but we feel ready to do it. So. Yeah, it is a lot of work. We already run two channels, but hey, we've got a baby now. Let's start a third channel. Yeah. But no, I think it's going to be great. It's going to be fun because you know what? We're also going to make it not just about the renovation, but also life in Argentina, culture in all Argentina, what it's like to move to Argentina,

what we love and maybe even dislike a little bit about our situation here. It's going to involve a lot more than just, "Hey, this is what we did with the house. This is what we're doing with the hotel." It's going to be pretty comprehensive. And also, like we've been quite surprised in recent years that people have moved to Argentina because of the videos they watched about the project we're doing here, which I always think is crazy. You watched our content and moved to this country. But yeah, we're excited to kind of move that to its own separate space. So, those of you who are interested in seeing that will be able to subscribe. And if you only want travel stuff, then you stay here and nothing changes.

That's right. Well, we've got to come up with a name for the channel. And that is something that we're struggling a little bit about. I've thought of something like project Argentina, hotel life and culture, but I mean, it's really tricky. We could also use our names. It could be hotel renovation in Argentina with Samuel and Audrey, but that's a little bit long. What are some of the ideas you have? like quite literal, renovating a hotel in Argentina. Yeah. But we also want to make sure that it's about like life in Argentina and the culture in Argentina. There will be a date in the future and it's not going to be anytime soon when we're finished the renovation in Argentina. And we'd

like the channel to be able to continue to go and grow. So, we're we're really kind of like stuck with the name. So, we're very interested in what you guys have to say. Sometimes the best suggestions come from, you know, outside of your own brain. Yes, exactly. So, yeah, I think that's it for that topic. I thought maybe we could also do a little recap of what's been going on the last couple of months because I have been filming footage and I haven't been doing anything with it. So, first of all, our daughter celebrated her first birthday. Oh, that was so cool. Yeah, Aurelia turned one. Oh my gosh. Don't grow up too fast, baby girl.

We're we're not quite We're She's a toddler now. She's a toddler already. So, on the day of her birthday, she started walking with assistance. She grabbed her stroller and started pushing it. So, we were able to capture that moment, which I thought we would share here. Grab on and show us. Show us how you started walking with assistance. The other way, let's turn it around and you do it the other way. Show us. On your birthday, it's the 13th of October.

[snorts] And then also because her birthday falls on Canadian Thanksgiving, we had a big family get-together. Everybody came over for a turkey meal. So, we also have footage of that. Yeah, that was a lot of fun. Baby, look at the Aurelia. The birthday girl. Ready? You know the old strip. Happy birthday to you. Happy birthday, dear Aurelia. Happy birthday to you. And many more. Yeah, sing it in Spanish.

Blow your candle. [screaming] Can we take a picture of her? And then after her birthday, we had about a month or less to get ready, get organized, pack, and come down here to South America. Yeah. We knew we had left a lot of stuff here, like clothes and stuff, but we had been gone long enough that I basically completely forgot aside from a few items, like what I left here. So, we were kind of like doing guesswork in terms of what to bring, but I think we've done okay. Yeah, yeah, we've done okay. And then the journey down, always an adventure leaving Canada this time of year. The night before our flight, big snowstorm. So, of course, my sister was kind enough to drive us to the airport, but I mean, that was like a

white-knuckle ride because there were cars that had veered off the road and it was like slow and slippery and just an adventure, very Canadian. Yeah, and we almost didn't catch our flight. We were connecting through Houston and we were the last people that were allowed on the flight. We technically were going to be bumped to the next day. We had some really nice customer service people who pulled some strings last minute. The plane was basically about to take off and they paused it for a few more minutes so that we could get on. So, we were so lucky to arrive. We really were. And baby girl, once again, was an excellent traveler. Yeah, so it's a 10-hour flight from Houston to Buenos

Aires. She slept for 10 hours, guys. She slept. Yeah, so. We are so lucky that she is the traveler she is. Otherwise, we would not be able to do half the things we've done. We should just give her a gold medal at this point for being the best traveler. She's done well on the cruise. She did well to go into Peru. She's done well to Argentina, flying to Vancouver, too. She's awesome. She's an awesome traveler at such a young age. Yes. Okay, so we landed in BA and we spent a few days there filming. We are very excited to share those videos with you. This time we stayed in Puerto Madero. We had previously only been there like to for a day visit. And then

we also filmed in San Telmo. We're really excited to be sharing these very information-heavy neighborhood guides so that if you guys are planning a trip to Buenos Aires, you'll be able to choose what neighborhood you want to stay in and you can see everything that there is to do, where to eat, and so on. Yeah, exactly. Instead of making like a general city guide, we're going like deeper into the barrios, which is what the neighborhoods are called. And the place where we stayed was an excellent place for us to start off with Aurelia cuz we're now used to living in the countryside in Alberta and going like deep into the frying pan of Buenos Aires and maybe staying in Recoleta or one of the more busier areas

Yeah. would have been [snorts] like a bit jarring. So, this area that we stayed in was a lot more calm and relaxing and it was very like baby friendly, too. Yes. Yeah, we're going to be telling you all about that. And then, you're also going to be seeing a friend of mine pop up in the videos. My friend Verena from Germany has been traveling around Argentina, so we were able to meet up with her and that was loads of fun. And then, after a few days in the city, we took an overnight bus to the Sierras, where we are right now renting a new house, as you can probably tell.

Baby did great on that trip, too. She did. She's not mobile yet. So, like, again, this was a night bus, so this is when she normally goes to sleep. Yeah. But yeah, this is my favorite place that we've rented so far. I can already say that. We've only been here for less than 2 weeks. I can say it's my favorite place. Yeah. No, I would agree. This place is just very peaceful. We have a lovely, spacious garden with a horse that comes to visit us in the mornings. He wants his carrots, he wants apples.

Yeah, he sure does. We have foxes that, you know, like to walk past the kitchen window like Yeah. seeing, "What are you cooking? Is there a little something for me?" cracker, throw a little piece of cheese, and maybe a slice of mortadella on a gourmet afternoon. Yeah, there you go. So, it's been very nice and I think it's been fun that every time we come here, we've stayed in a different property, a different part of town. We're getting to meet different people, so it's great. Yeah, it's a new adventure and for me, personally, this has been my like my best attitude about coming here. I just really like it here now. It took me a little while to warm up to the village, but I've really come to appreciate it. It's just a beautiful spot.

Mountains, forest, tranquility. We've made some really great friends Yeah. and it just feels like a home away from home now. Mhm. And so, yeah, I'm excited to be here. We've been gone a long time, but after meeting up with some friends, it felt like, you know, almost like seamless like no time has passed. Yeah. that kind of feeling, too. So, it's been great and we're just excited to be here. We're escaping the Canadian winter, loving wearing t-shirts and shorts this time of year in December. That is a treat in and of itself. Yeah, so I guess goals for this visit, we're planning to finish the chalet completely so that we can move in. And then, we also have some projects that we want to do around the property, the

hotel. We're going to tell you all of that on the new channel once we figure out a name and um Start up a whole bunch of videos. Exactly. Yeah, exactly. And I think what's going to be a little bit different this time around about our stay in Argentina is we're going to be doing a bit more travel, too. Yes. Like going to places. Yes. And something that you can look forward to on our channel, several years ago, we filmed these giant Argentina series and we kind of released them on our channel as vlogs. They're intended to be travel guides and what we're going to do is go through that

footage, sit down with it, and also do more research and basically put it together as a guide, so you can expect guides to like Mendoza, Bariloche, a whole bunch of different places. Yeah, all over Patagonia, the northern part of the country. We want to bring you practical videos so that you can plan your trips. Exactly. And that being said, I can hear our little baby girl starting to fuss a little bit, but I think we've covered everything we wanted to cover. Anything else to add? No, I think that's great. So, thanks so much for watching. We really enjoyed catching you up with what we're up to and we hope you stay tuned for all of our future videos, both on this channel and hopefully on our new

channel soon, too. So, ta-ta for now and we'll see you soon. Ciao. Great. That's awesome.
