Google Pixel Features and What to Know

The Pixel 10 Pro XL with Tensor G5 and 16GB RAM still loses to the Galaxy S25 Ultra's Snapdragon 8 Elite in a speed test, extending Google's losing streak.

Google Pixel 10 Pro XL vs. Galaxy S25 Ultra Speed Test. | Transcript:

In the nine years that the Pixels existed, it has never won a speed test here at Foam Buff. But this year, Google is hoping to finally change that with them saying that the Tensor G5 is their biggest upgrade yet, delivering 34% faster CPU performance. On top of that, the phone has a whopping 16 GB of RAM compared to the Galaxy's 12 with the Pixel 10 series also finally getting faster storage in UFS 4.0. Of course, it's not like the Galaxy doesn't have UFS 4.0 now and it has the advantage of Qualcomm's Snapdragon 8 Elite. Will the Pixel's all new hardware be able to overcome that, or will its losing streak continue? Let's find out.

All right, we'll kick things off by starting the stopwatches on each phone and then jumping into the first row where right off the bat, the Galaxy gets the step loading both Facebook and Starbucks at a faster rate. And with it just blazing through Microsoft Word, it's already created a nice little cushion for itself with the Pixel not doing itself any favors loading Excel slower as well. Meaning just one row into it and the Pixel has already dug itself in a bit of a hole. We'll see if it can turn things around here in the second row where unfortunately it was slower at taking that portrait selfie as well. Of course, we are still very early in the speed test, so there's still

plenty of time for the Pixel to make a comeback. Where at least in Snapseed and editing the same high resolution photo, the Pixel did seem to be a bit faster. But it's this video task that will really show us how the Tensor G5 in the Pixel stacks up to the Snapdragon 8 Elite where it's not great. The Galaxy is exporting the project 35% faster than the Pixel, allowing it to move on to the browser test as the Pixel is still chugging along. Obviously, this video export is only one app out of the 16 that we're testing, but it's not the result I was hoping for with the Pixel falling another 19 seconds behind by the time it's done with it. So, it is going to require a lot for the Pixel to

overcome this deficit with it finally joining the Galaxy in the gaming row where if it can somehow manage to load these games up faster, there's still a shot at making a comeback. But at least in Subway Surfers, that doesn't happen with the Pixel loading the game at a slower rate. In fact, outside of being a hair faster than the Galaxy in Snapseed, the Pixel has been slower in every single task that we've put it through. And that remains true through flip diving and now here in Going Balls. And with the Galaxy wrapping up with Forward Assault, it means the odds of a Pixel comeback, at least in this first lap, are pretty slim, especially since the Galaxy is just ripping through these

lightweight apps with it already done with Spotify and ESPN and on the last leg of Disney Plus. Meaning as the Pixel works on the last app in the gaming row, the Galaxy is finishing up with the first lap entirely, clocking in an impressive time of 2 minutes and 25 seconds. Meaning at this point, unless the Galaxy fails to keep one of these apps open and ready to go, it's more about how much the Galaxy will win by rather than whether or not it will win. Since at this point, it seems pretty obvious. And we'll get that final number once the Pixel finishes up here with Amazon, where it takes a full 33 seconds longer to complete this set of tasks, clocking in a time of 2 minutes and 58

seconds. So, not the best performance from the Pixel. I was really hoping that going with TSMC and UFS 4.0 would help the Pixel catch up in terms of speed, but it looks like it's still just a step behind. which sure, you may not use your phone like in this test, but after having the Pixel 9 Pro as my daily driver for the last year and having it stutter on me, performance has been an area where I was really hoping to see a major jump in. But for now, the Snapdragon 8 Elite reigns supreme, making the winner by a big margin, the Galaxy S25 Ultra. Anyways, that is it for me in this video. Thank you for watching, and as always, I'll see you in the very next episode.
