My name is Harrison. Uh what a beautiful sunrise. Please join us on a safari. Looking at the age, um she's now about between 3 to 4 months old. Yeah, the first time I spotted it uh the coloration it was completely black, but now, as you can see, it has started developing the spots. So, this is the spotted hyena. So, there's about I think two dens on top of that mount because the hyenas they started using these uh dens uh 3 years ago. So, what was happening during nighttime, the warthog were using it. And then when the hyena comes back then, like this time of the morning, the warthog comes out, then the hyena gets in. Can you imagine?
Yeah, but now they've stopped the warthog have stopped using it because the hyenas they are leaving the cubs in the den. The warthogs have shifted to another mound about I think a 50 m from here. That's where they're sleeping now. So, what will happen when the hyenas they bring you all these dead animals here, the kites also they try to pick the one that drop on the ground. So, that's the reason you can see this kite perching there. All those skins that they are bringing here, what will happen is when the rain comes, they get soaked and to the hyenas it's now like fresh, then they'll start eating. So, they are keeping it, you know, like for the future. When the rain
comes, then it becomes food. This is the cub which is about between 3 to 4 months. And there's another one there at two in total. Where the cub is going to the right-hand side, there's another cub there. Those are the one that are between uh um 6 7 months. Yeah. So, all these including the big uh adult females, those are the one we call the Shumba Pride. So, if you look from the middle, the female which is at the middle, if you look on the face, I would say she contains some blood. Even the other one to the left-hand side, meaning they made a kill from last night. So, they are just sitting to the edge of the tall grass and soon they are going to get in and they are going to be here the all day.
And before the sun sets, they are all going to come out again and sit to the edge. After that, then they start to move for hunting. The African wild dogs. This is also the emblem for the national park. This is very interesting. They're all puppies you can see. This is from one mother. Warthogs, they haven't gone because they're feeding on the food from the fig tree that are on the ground. Fit is to chase, the wild dog can go for the young ones
cuz the big warthogs are very aggressive. The wild dogs are one of the endangered species. You know, the reason is they do cover long distances, whereby they even reach likely the farms, villages. But we are very lucky in the Kafue National Park in seeing the number of uh the wild dogs increasing.
