Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce went all out for their July 3rd wedding at Madison Square Garden. But their choice of who would officiate the wedding has a lot of people scratching their heads. One year after Travis Kelce and Taylor Swift got engaged, they finally become husband and wife. But what's even more exciting than the fact that Swift and Kelce tied the knot inside Madison Square Garden on 4th of July weekend is the person they chose to officiate their wedding. According to their official wedding statement, they handpicked comedic actor Adam Sandler for the job.
Yes, the wedding singer himself. At first glance, Sandler's specific brand of humor may not sound like the perfect choice for a chic affair. Well, I have a microphone and you don't. SO YOU WILL LISTEN [screaming] TO EVERY DAMN WORD I HAVE TO SAY. BUT THE CHOICE ACTUALLY makes a lot of sense. You see, Sandler wasn't just a random pick for the couple. They both have interesting histories with the star. For starters, Kelce recently worked with Sandler in 2025 when they both appeared in Happy Gilmore 2. And it seems they hit things off.
Travis was locked in. He had to kind of be a bad guy. He was just there. It was the perfect remedy, man. Meanwhile, Sandler has repeatedly shared how much he and his daughters love Swift's music. He told Billboard, "Every album we listen the first day it comes out. There's not a song they don't know every word to." So really, she and Kelce couldn't have picked a better person. That said, social media is having mixed reactions. Sandler's bond with Taylor and Travis seem to be one of those celebrity friendships no one understands. Unsurprisingly, news of Sandler officiating their wedding has prompted a slew of spirited reactions across social media. One user supported the idea, writing on X, "Only Sandler could turn a wedding into a
comedy special. And I'm here for the encore. Congrats, lovebirds. Hope the reception has more hits than a Sandler movie. Another person said, "Adam Sandler officiating a wedding like this feels like the ultimate Hollywood crossover. At the end of the day though, I hope they're building something real instead of just another headline moment." Of course, there were plenty of jokes about the whole situation, too. ANOTHER PERSON TWEETED THAT THE Sandman was Travis's only contribution to the wedding saying, "She let him pick one thing." Because despite the
history they all share, at the end of the day it really does feel like a joke just to get people talking. That's what one person observed when they said, "I can't believe this is real and not a fake rumor they planted to find the leakers or something." Well, it does indeed appear to be real.
