really Freda is the one that has completely become completely tame actually so gregarious who care less what I'm doing even when I go in to swim she's uh unafraid of me so that's really cool what's going on everybody hanging out here with Freda she's in the water there you can kind of see her but we also have the fly rivers and the male Bader out there and I have some beautiful little oh what we got there we got some strawberries and I just figured it'd be fun to watch her eat wow she got that thing in one whole gulp that is insane Freda and we got
a really nice closeup of her as well so Freda is my Royal River terapin I love when it gets warm because that means the animals in the pond are going to be extremely happy I want to call up some of them right now so what we got are some really cool little treats for them and uh what we got oh let's try pineapple let's see if Freda oh there's a fly river right out there let's see this fly River let's see what happens who's going to get it is the fly River going to get that or is it going to be Freda here she is the fly river is way down below so let's see oh here he is right
there that's so cool oh my gosh I love it man I love these guys it's awesome to be uh just to be checking them out here and seeing what they're up to they're so happy and healthy at the moment because the weather and the water is perfect for them we've got temperatures in the mid 70s and they are waking up because they smell this food in here so let's see what we got Chuck this out here how about a strawberry oh yeah she's going to get it there you go there's frea yes good girl all right but I wonder if they'll eat I'm not sure they should eat the pineapple oh
yeah she likes it very good we're going to throw a few more strawberries out here and why don't we just do this let's just throw it all over there and see what they do this is awesome man these guys are all over this food up there's the fly river right down there oh perfect it's a real turtle Feeding Frenzy at the moment we've got to get the other ones over here Freda is hogging everything she is no joke man that is a big turtle she's about 80 lbs right now so that's a big girl but who else is out there at the bottom of our pond we still do have
some cichlids In Here Also friends and uh how about these deise right there that's cool but the real action is going to be these Turtles we got the GoPro on a nice long stick oh there it is look at that oh gosh that is awesome he's right down there just chomping on some of that food the fly rivers are one of those bucketless species for me these guys are of course from Northern Australia in POA New Guinea and uh they are just incredible now these babies or rather my babies right here these fly Rivers actually came into the United States in 2001 in a huge shipment and they came in as babies and unfortunately they were well
not unfortunately fortunately they were seized and they were actually brought to many different Zoological institutions and the thing that we found out about these guys is they fight with each other so it's very difficult once they start to grow up to really keep these guys together unless you have a very large enclosure like we have here at Camp Kennan now that being said even though it's really large it's still possible that these guys will fight each other so we've got to be careful and we have to watch for any kind of aggression but luckily these guys haven't been
too bad with each other let's see we're going to put some more of these uh strawberries in and then we're going to kind of have a look around the pond because it is awesome I mean look at this place this is just coming out to be one of my favorite places at the camp here let me see if I can attract more from these guys with this food let's just dump it all in oh get in there nice now she's going to probably wind up eating a lot of that stuff there she is frea Royal River terpins are from Southeast Asia badiger aenis really cool species and basically they are an endangered species
because they are so large and they wind up eating these animals all the time and so the bigger the animal is the more prized it is for its flesh which is kind of a bummer Look at Her Go lots of eating looks like the fly rivers are done and she's going to wind up getting all of those look at that here comes a fly river right now that is rad let's go on a little wander shall we above and below the Old Camp the old Recreation pond
I'll tell you what I'm going to go ahead and grab some more food for these guys let's try some pellets I see some uh blueberries floating around still but let's go ahead o sunk in a hole there let's see if we have some more pellets that'll get these guys up oh yeah looks like I need to refill but this should be fine all the turtles will be happy look at Freda going over there so they got themselves some really good treats as far as strawberries and now we're going to hook them up with our Fluker aquatic turtle Buffet blend which is really awesome so pretty excited about that these are happy Critters
where's everyone else gone we're going to walk over by that waterfall I think I see one of the fly Rivers down below not seeing anybody over there here's the male he's a little bit more shy let's see if we can get some good shots of them underwater the males are much smaller than the females you can see he's got the different coloration right now and that's because we're getting back into the warm season and so they're readjusting to this water into this Pond after being in the tubs and it's a stressful time for these guys when they're in those tubs because they
don't quite have as much space and you know it's just easier for me to keep things warm but now that we're back out here in the actual Pond and the water temps are good uh these animals uh get less stressed out and uh their bodies of course acclimate nicely he's really cool back on the Fly River there's the two of them actually they're really good at smelling that food in the water they can smell underwater and that's why they're able to find rotten food Rotten um
you know Fallen fruit different greens sea grasses fly rivers and the good old Royal River terpens are herbivores and uh man I'll tell you what if you look around the edge of the pond you can kind of see how they've trimmed a little of the green that's actually along the sides of the pond and looks like I the wind has just blown this container into the pond let's get it let's get that out of there it's really awesome when you see the animals so active and stuff you know at night time I come out the fly rivers are really active they seem to be more nocturnal um but it's nice to see them kind of swimming around there's
one going under the ferns over there's a log that's been completely overtaken by Fern but uh looks like that fly River's had enough of the excitement and has decided to go underneath there but regardless it's awesome man these guys are out and about we've got beautiful foliage everything's growing man it's awesome here's a cool shot watch that guy swimming off yeah still got a lot of food out here these guys are definitely going to be nibbling away for a while but really Freeda is the one that has completely become completely tame actually so gregarious could care less what I'm doing even when I go in to swim she's
uh unafraid of me so that's really cool just shows you these animals can tame up nicely oh there's this there's a little blueberry I wonder if she'll grab that for and there are those African cichlids the de Boise some of my favorite African cichlids I can't wait to get this Pond set up again with more and more cichlids it is definitely not the same as it was a few years back I like seeing the fish life in here Turtles are awesome uh but you really need fish to have a complete ecosystem there's the fly
River well anyway folks there you have it a little uh water excitement with our turtles in the recreation Pond we had Freda and the rest of the gang the fly rivers and the male Royal River ter been really given us a great display of their majesty and uh they're definitely Royal animals for sure so I hope you guys enjoyed today's video and I'll see you guys again on another one so long is
