I don't know, I can imagine how Mike's weather maps project onto this sphere. Oh, wouldn't that be cool? Wow, I like that. We already have the Fox 5 logo on the Capital Wheel. That's right, that's right. So why not make it a general topic Then we'll make it part of the Zip Trip, right? I mean, well, I think that would be part of it. The morning team gets all the fun out of Zip Trips. They will be there. Do we want to see Tucker's big face on the field?
Oh, I get goosebumps thinking about Tucker Barnes over DC. We love you boss. We love you Hey, by the way, wait, we prepared a winter forecast today. We'll talk about this in detail a little later. So, if you haven't seen it yet, stay tuned . In about 10 minutes, we will share our expectations. And if you don't want to wait that long, foxlocal.fox5dc.com has our full winter forecast. More rain at night after the day, which finally broke this streak. 18 days in a row without rain here in Washington. This was last week's drought monitoring. Here's a new one this week, and you can see, while it's not technically an extension of the drought, that yellow zone is not a designation. It's just
abnormally dry. The drought, however, has intensified slightly in places like Carroll County and parts of Baltimore County. Everyone there is still at a moderate level. We expect that in late fall and then through most of the winter, the situation will continue to improve in the D.C. area. But after 18 days in a row, it didn't help much. We are back to an abnormally dry state across much of central Virginia. The weather outside is mild right now. It feels like early fall, not a mid-autumn night in the DC region. 70 in Washington, 69. In Waldorf, Colonial Beach and La Plata 68, as well as in Upper Marlboro. Bowie is a little colder, in Prince George's County, you have 65. Beltsville, 67. Leesburg and
Lovettsville, 68. Same as Haymarket at this hour. There are many clouds in the sky. It rained here in Washington not long ago. They are moving north now, closer to Baltimore, and it is definitely quiet in the south right now. However, we are still in front of this frontal zone. She is multi-colored, which means she stopped west of the DC region. Right now its front is still receiving moisture from the south and west. Eventually, at night, it will start moving. And when it gets closer to us, around 2:00-3:00 AM, it could cause a few more showers. We're waiting for this secondary cold front, way behind, near Chicago; It is much stronger, and behind it is much cooler air. It will arrive at the weekend. This will dry out the air on
Saturday and Sunday. Good news for the weekend. However, it will be much cooler than the 70 degrees we have enjoyed the past few days. This is what Futurecast looks like. It's 10 o'clock in the evening, of course. As we move into the night hours, the front gets a little closer, it's 3 am. Futurecast even suggests that there may be a rumble of thunder. I doubt it, but we cannot rule out local heavy showers during the system's passage. Then the front will move east of us tomorrow morning: to the East Coast, southern Maryland, northern Virginia. You may have to deal with showers throughout the morning and even early in the day. Western areas will be the first to see the sun, and then, closer to midday and afternoon, it
may appear in DC as well. Here's that secondary cold front I mentioned earlier, around 8-9pm, it could bring a few more light showers to some areas of DC before the cooler air starts to move in overnight into Saturday and then it becomes much, much more pleasant. We will also have more sunshine over the weekend. 68 in Gaithersburg, 70 in Dallas, 67 in Manassas. These are the maximum temperatures for Friday. So, another mild day. Tomorrow evening will be a bit windy, and with that will come a cold snap. The temperature on Saturday is 62 degrees. Sunday looks pretty good with a high of 64 degrees. These are completely seasonal figures for this time of year. And if you're going to a
Commanders game, the weather looks good for that. Hopefully they can handle the game against Los Angeles. We'll have more on the winter forecast soon, Angie.
