It is Belmont day from Saratoga live on America's Day at the races. My Chirona will be the last one to load and they're off. And it's Nakoma who gets the first call out of the gate. My Shirona is up close too. And there's some speed from Fusion as well. Pippa adds at the rail is in fourth followed by Cold Spell fifth now trying to move up with the lime cap three wide four lengths off the lead at the back of the field. My guns loaded is racing right next to Crowning Glory. So it's Nakoma to set the pace with some very sharp debut speed leading it by two over my Chirona. Pipa ads is third. Johnny Velasquez in cold spell fourth through a quarter that went in 22 and two seconds. My guns loaded is racing in
fifth. Another four back to crowning glory as they head toward the quarter pole and Fusion 45 and one for a half mile. My Shirona has moved up to take the lead with a quarter of a mile to go with Cold Spell in hot pursuit on the outside. Cold spell, my Chirona and Cold Spell on the inside. Guns, my guns loaded has just run with a big move outside of Cold Spell. And my guns loaded indeed. Opening up with authority through the stretch. My guns loaded. And Manny Franco, look at this powerful stride to win it by four and a half lengths. Colts Bell was second. Pippa adds third.
Crowning Gloria a distant fourth. Manny Franco, who's really been the big story amongst the jockeys for this entire week. He combines with Chad Brown and you get 18 to1 to start the day here at Saratoga. You said this was my pick earlier, right? Yes, I tried to lead you there. Uh, you tried. First time Lasix. This is a race that was very hot on the front end. And what a crafty ride by Manny Franco just to angle out to the outside and she really gave it to him. the first time off the trainer switch was a huge effort and you know as you mentioned going from Steve Ashson's barn to Chad Brown but also going from debuting at Oaklan Park up here to Saratoga they just kind of
reset this whole thing and uh this daughter of Gunrunner so much better second time out and they're off and it's a quick start for commuted on the far outside senior officer and contrary thinking is in the mix too. Those three v for the lead as contrary thinking takes it now from commuted to neck back second. Resilience broke well and is a closeup fourth under a nice hold as well there followed by life and times in mid pack on the inside of awesome native. The two trailers in Santa Cape and Paradise Valley is at the back of the field. The opening quarter went in 22 and 35th seconds. Contrary thinking takes him into the far turn with a two-length lead on commuted.
Senior officer is just outside of him. And in between horses, Resilience is fourth. Another length back comes Life and Times in fifth. And he's followed by Awesome Native Clear of Paradise Valley and Incentive Pay. 45 and one for Contrary Thinking who will turn for home in front with senior officer in pursuit. Resilience is down on the inside. He'll look to angle out. just did now with a clear shot and a furong to do it. It is contrary thinking resilience between horses. Senior officer life and times is picking it up late. Contrary thinking trying to fend off senior officer contrary thinking. Senior officer come for the wire together. Photo finish.
Senior officer surged when it mattered. He and contrary thinking and a tight photograph followed by life and times and resilience. Oh, we were threatening to see another huge upset on the lead. It's contrary thinking at 19 to1, but Colin Le senior officer and Ira Ortiz Jr. What a finish by both of these horses just so game. Senior officer grinding, grinding away down the stretch and they're off. Son of a birch leapt in the air, but it didn't really affect him. Intellect is going out along with
Bonus Move. So Bonus Move will be the target for Intellect as they come by us for the first time. Candy Town is out in the center of the course. Chowo Chuck down on the hedge and they're followed by Son of a Birch. Edgeima is at the back of the field. The pace is swift as they move into the first turn and it's bonus move establishing the pace opens it up to almost three lengths. Flavian Pratt has intellect second while racing in hand and Candy Town is just outside of him. Chow Chuck is fourth along the inside two and a half or so off the pacemaker. Then it's Son of a Birch and another couple back to Edgeima. They went the opening quarter in 23 seconds flat. Bonus moveing right along with
Intellect still racing in second. Outside of him, Candy Town third. Now, Chow Chuck looking for a spot is fourth. He's relegated to the hedge once again with Son of a Birch. Four lengths off the lead. Edgma has trailed throughout. Bonus move and Paco Lopez 47 and one. He's letting him fly on the front end. Now, suddenly, Intellect comes under some pressure. Chow chuck along the inside. Orange blinkers as the field turns for home. Bonus move in at the rail. There's room for Chow Chuck now trying to get by. Bonus move. Resilient on the front end. Comes to the 16th pole. Holding them off thus far. Chowchuk takes another crack at him and it's a big one. Chowchuk or bonus
move. Bonus move. Chowchuk. EDGE LATE. PHOTO FINISH. Bonus move. As game as they come. Edgma came right at him at the wire. It's a nose between those two. Chowo Chuck was third. This turf course has been producing a lot of upsets through the course of the week and we have a finish here between two horses at good prices. It is the five bonus move who you mentioned was probably going to be the pace trying to hold on at 14 to1. And here comes Echima and Jos Ortiz at 8 to1. Amazing finish here. What a game effort just by everybody in this spot. Chowchuk resilient on the hedge there and Edima just wow. Oh, the five looked like he hung on.
Wow. That is and she is guided over making her comeback today. and they're off. Mila Candy and Spectacular Gray both out alertly. Fightful Lily is flashing sharp speed, but it's Naive Melody who comes through quickest of all to take the lead. Peutter Pickle is a closeup fifth, just three lengths off the leader. And then it's I'mma cutie on the inside of Coach Albert Lady. Chatter is second to last two in front of Helen's revenge. Naive Melody leads the way through a quarter in 21 and 35th seconds. Naive Melody leads three parts of a length with Spiteful Lily in pursuit second. A
length and a half back to Ma Candy in third. Then it's Spectacular Gray in fourth. Peutter Pickle along the rail. Hardridden fifth. Fourback Chatter is getting underway. From the back of the field has six to make up. And just outside of her comes Helen's revenge. 44 and two. They're at the top of the stretch. Naive Melody on the inside of Spiteful Lily. They'll come to the eighth pole together out in the center of the track. Spectacular Gray. Further out, Helen's Revenge is picking off horses. They're coming to the 16th pole. Naive Melody digging in, trying to hold off Spiteful Lily, who keeps trying.
Naive Melody. Naive Melody in front running fashion gets her third in a row. Spiteful Lily was second in front of Helen's revenge and I'm a cutiepie. As they say around these parts, New York breads respect them. And naive Melody you had to respect on the lead. This race changed dramatically. Michelle, when the horse you like, the six chatter did not break was lethargic. That left naive Melody out on the lead. Yeah, she was really resentful to having the dirt kicked in her face. All kinds of issues there. Just draw a line through this effort for her. But naive Melody looked fantastic on the lead and look at the end. Her ears are up. So
kind of goes back to that last race where she doesn't extend out. It's almost like she needs that pressure to keep on going. But she was more than good enough today. Wesley Ward here for the win. Yeah, in a sense it was a merry ground race. The horses who were one two at the opening quarter mile mark are one two in the finish. Naive Melody over spitefully the halfmile fraction. We saw this on yesterday's track. Very safe racetrack with very fast times. The half mile here 44 and two. Final time for the six and a half furongs 116 and three and they're off.
Sonia Henny is out alertly but it's Imperatrice who sprints up and Tis now Mama and those two are setting a very quick early tempo. Marketplace of ideas could not ask for a better spot in third as there was a little difficulty there for Tis now Mama into that first turn which leaves Imperatrice as the clear-cut leader. They're followed by Sonia Henny who's now in fourth six lengths off them. Ita is next and then it's a couple of lengths back to Epony on the inside of Kurland's Angel. The opening quarter went in a snappy 22 and 35th seconds. Those two followed by Carmen Sitta and Starship Athena who are next to one another at the back of the field. Scarlet's Halo. And y'all ready for this? Imperatrice set that quick early tempo. Slows it
down just a touch as the half went in just under 47 seconds flat. It's Imperatrice into the far turn leading the way by a length and a half. Tis now Mama is in second. On the inside it's Marketplace of Ideas maintaining third. Sonia Henny is fourth. They've been this way throughout. Behind them, Aonin is having to step on the brakes, looking for a little seam to go through. Kurland's Angel is trying to get underway. Widest of all is Starship Athena as the field turns for home. There's room for Marketplace of Ideas, who's had the dream journey and cruises up and takes over in Paratrice. Also on the outside, Epony is finishing with
interest. It's Marketplace of Ideas and Dylan Davis trying to hold off Epony. It will be Marketplace of Ideas. Another for Dylan Davis. Second went to Epony and then it was a battle for third between Scarlett Halo and Carmen Sitta. Well, jockey Dylan Davis waiting patiently behind horses. And then at the top of the stretch, it is the trip of life. There's no one in front of Dylan Davis and Markplace of Ideas. So he's got first run at the leader and takes advantage. Marketplace of ideas at nine to one. This could be portending of great things to come later today in the Belmont Stakes for these connections.
Not only the first run, Todd, but the clearest run and also a groundsaving run because when you looked at the horses at the top of the field, they were stretched out six, seven, eight, nine wide across the track trying to make up, you know, this run and instead she got a beautiful clear trip sat right off of your uh activity from village person and they're off and gun range stumbled at the start. Village person is out very quickly. Local Knowledge is up close in the early going and takes second and Bright Line Bullet comes away in third. Butter fourth along the inside and only about two and a half lengths or so off the lead as they run down the backstretch. They're followed on the inside by Yo Banana Boy who has about
three lengths to make up. And also in that group is Imagine John. Then comes a length and a half back to Trust Fund who's in mid pack. Calo Candy is next. The opening quarter went in 21 and 35th seconds. C Strike is trying to make some headway. He's got more than a dozen to make up. He's on the inside of Strategic Operation as they move around the far turn after that tough start. Gun Rang is just outside of him. Down on the inside, it is Brazenly who has a lot of work to do. Right next to Mary's lad as the field turns for home. There's one furong to go in village person. This long shot has been running very well the entire
journey. Confronted by butter. Local knowledge is on the outside of them. Coming to the 16th pole. BUTTER. BUTTER GETS TO THE FRONT. A rail skimming ride from Javier Castellano as butter wins it all. Village person was second. Local knowledge third. It was a battle for fourth between C Strike and Yo Banana Boy Butter comes up with his huge upset here in the sixth. Javier Costalano Ilkai can't Machi Barn supposed to just not go away on the inside. Likes the six and a half furongs coming out of a runnerup effort doing that. Uh and was so determined there. I feel like village people did a lot of early lifting and just got very tired and but and they're off in the just a game
presented by Resolute Racing. Classic Q and one more time has speed two and Sajesta is aggressive today. So Suggesta goes right after Classic Q into the first turn. Those two are head and one more time is next. And then comes Buttercream Babe who is packed out four deep going into the first turn. The lead belongs to Classic Q. It's a length and a half advantage. Suggesta is racing in second. Mandonaba's a little bit keen. She's on the inside third, but only two lengths off the lead as they make their way down the backstretch. And One More Time is next, followed by Sand Trap, who was in a little tight going into that first turn. Buttercream Babe is now four
wide. The two trailers, fast market and deep satin. 23 and three was the opening fraction for classic Q who leads it by a length tracked by Sajesta into the far turn the half in 47 seconds flat. Mandaba has a groundsaving journey and has settled into her stride third. They're followed by an one more time who's fourth. Sand trap is in the mix. Fifth in between horses. Buttercream babe asked for a bit more followed by Fast Market and Deep Satin. at the top of the stretch and Classic Q hanging tough. Sajesta is still a length and a half behind her in second. Mandanava now
moves through to take that second spot. Has to get to Classic Q in the final 16th. Classic Q strong on the front end under Hall of Famer John Velasquez. And Classic Q takes them all the way in the just a game. Second to Mandaba in front of Sajesta. They just cannot catch Classic Q and not that far off a course record going gate towire for the win. 132 and four for the mile. Lightning fast time here and Classic Q is one way of going when she gets the lead. She's pretty much undefeated and when she got the opening quarter here, Michelle in 23 and three under easy fractions for her. She really quickened up nicely. Very, very good effort. Yeah, she had something to finish with there and really looked
fantastic. Went on the backside. She was really in the bridal wanting to do this. And look at her here. I mean, this four had every opportunity to run her down and could not reel in classic Q. One was pulling away late break, which you don't usually see in a situation like this going and they're off in the Japer. And AG Bullet fires right out of there. Reef Runner has some early speed as does John the Beerman. a closeup third and Clock Tower is fourth only a length and a half off them. Then my boy Prince Governor Sam is down on the inside followed by 26 Black who's seven lengths off the lead. At the back of the field are works for me bold journey and litigation. John the
Beerman is the quickest of the quick and opens up two lengths through a quarter in 21 seconds flat. AG Bullet is within a length of this leader. On the inside comes Reefrunner. A joint third with Clock Tower on the outside and 26 Black revving up while caught very wide there at the top of the stretch. John the Beerman. AG Bullet is chasing with determination. Reef Runner angles out for the drive inside the final eighth of a mile. AG Bullet, Reef Runner, and 26 Black. These are the three that go on. John the Beerman keeps on battling, but it's Reef Runner who streaks on by late. Reef Runner wins the Japer. Ag Bullet, John the Beerman, and 26 Black.
One of the very best in the business. Star jockey Ard Ortiz teaming up with David Fox just like they did overseas in Riad. This time states side in the grade one Japer reef runner. You are in the Breeders Cup Turf Sprint. And I'll tell you what, Lee, look, I was talking about trip and how you have to have a good one. You couldn't have painted this picture any better for Reef Runner. I Ortiz was in the pocket down the backside without getting stopped. He didn't lose any forward momentum. Just saving ground, saving ground. This race has run up five and a half furongs. Michelle, he ran exactly that distance, not a yard further.
No, he ran perfect. You see him angled out here when they're already in the home stretch. Ag Bullet trying to reel in that lone leader and just wasn't quite able to. And then here comes Reef Runner towards the outside. Absolutely powering away. He showed how good he was when he won the international stage in Saudi on the Saudi Cup undercard and he just looked fantastic today. I was concerned this was a tit short for him. Apparently not. And they're off in the Woody Stevens presented by Moheaggan Sun. An Englishman broke like a shot straight to the front. Solitude Dude will try to match strides with him and Stradal came away in the top flight in third. Crude
Velocity is trying to get into the race now. He's in between horses four lengths off the lead. Taj Mahal is next. Civil Liberty is just inside of him. They're followed by Obliteration. Six Speed and Gilded Bandit at the back of the field. Solitude Dude shows the way to the halfmile pole. Dream trip for Englishmen through a half and 21 and 4th seconds. That was the opening quarter fraction as they pass the half mile pole. Then it's Crude Velocity now moving up to the top pair in third. Stradale is in fourth. Obliteration along the inside is six lengths off the lead. Civil Liberty went by him. Another two back to Gilded Bandit. And here's the rematch.
Englishman and Crude Velocity. Englishman went very wide. Seems like he did so on purpose. And Englishman is flying through the stretch. He's got a fivelength lead. Crude Velocity could not warm him up today. Englishman towering over the competition as Obliteration tries to get second. Englishman, what a tremendous effort to win by six lengths. It's a tight photo between Obliteration and Crude Velocity, then Gilded Bandit in 120.25 seconds for the Woody Stevens. lighting up Saratoga. Blazingly fast Englishman trainer Sheree Dvau, jockey Jose Ortiz, team golden tempo. Imagine how fast how much he would have won by if he only ran straight Simon.
Unbelievable. Shar Devo's got now the two best three-year-olds in the country as we sit here at what uh at 4:58 p.m. Eastern time. But yeah, I mean he Michelle, he came into the stretch five wide. He ends up winning the race on the rail. He looked fantastic. I feel like Jose Artis was looking around for Crude Velocity. Uh waiting to see where he went. Comes a little bit wide there. Crude Velocity meanwhile had dipped down to the rail. That's him in the blue shadow roll. And Englishman out here middle of the track and then getting himself down towards the rail. But never in doubt today. Holy canoli was he the best.
To your point Lefiv, during the race we talked to each other. I don't know whether this was by design. I it kind of looked like it. Sometimes horses have so much speed coming off the turn. in the centrifugal force. Toss him out to the middle of the track. They're in the gate and they're off in the Hill Andale Metropolitan Handicap. Antiquarian broke well, but Nissos has more natural speed and is up to take the lead. Saudi Crown is up and on the pace and Nightsbridge is for three lengths off Nissos. Then it's Vibe racing on the inside of Journalism who has five lengths to make up and rated by merit is at the back of the field. Nisos gets pressure, plenty of company through an opening quarter that went in 23 and two seconds.
Antquarian aggressive puts his head in front. Saudi Crown is second. Niso suddenly back to third along the inside. And Nightsbridge is in the thick of it too as they head toward the halfmile pole. Three more back to vibe. Journalism yet to do his best. Running has six to make up and rated by Merit at the back. 45 and3 for the half mile around the far turn and Antiquarian is now confronted by Nightsbridge and Nightsbridge cruises on by just behind them. Naos Flabian Pratt has decided to take him to the outside and has to come after Knightsbridge. Now journalism has work to do. He's five lengths back trying to rally as the field turns for home. Here comes Nissos on the outside
of Nightsbridge and Nissos takes the lead and pulls away. Journalism is down the center of the track and then Antiquarian. They're coming to the 16th pole and Nissos is a superstar drawing clear with authority to win the Hill Andale Metropolitan Handicap by four lengths over Nightsbridge. Journalism finished third. All business ears pinned running through the wire. Nice hose for twotime triple crown winning trainer Bob Baffert. Dazzling in the Hill andale Met Mile. That's how you want to win the Met Mile. Stamp yourself as the best horse. And Simon, that was a tremendous ride by Flavian Pratt.
Tremendous ride by Flavian Pratt for a number of reasons. We've talked about, you know, the shoot and how hard it is and navigating that and we'll take a look at it. Let's go over ahead and take a look. And I think the key here, he was intent on getting the lead and, you know, being around Baff a lot, he wants his horses to break and get out of there. Look at he was on the left of the screen. Flavian, you don't usually see him send this hard. He sent he asserted position. He got position and then Andy when the other three piled up on the outside of him, he let them go and he just eased back to get a brief like he's driving a car. He must have looked to his right and said, "What are these guys aquarium next to
me?" But for John, to be fair, he broke so sharply, you don't want to take it away from him. You know, you're going to drag him back after he breaks as well as he did. So, Flavian sees what's going on here. He lets them go. He sits the garden trip. This was so subtle, but brilliant. Yes. That's the winning move right there. We just showed it, right? 100%. It's confidence. Exactly. Now, he's tracking. It's it's like a you know a bike rider in the tour to France. They're just in the slipstream. He's got three horses in front of him. From a jockey standpoint that your mouth is watering when you've got three lined up like that. But you've got to have the confidence to be able to do that because if it doesn't work out,
they're going to tell you why did you get out of there? Why did you do this? Why did you do that? Obviously Fabian Pratt doesn't need to be second guessed. Bob Baffford understands that. But you've got to have the horse under you. And this was an impressive performance by one of the best horses of the country. Michael Jordan tongue wag working ears pinned. Niceos running away from Nightsbridge 1673. And they're off in the Resorts World Casino Manhattan. Test score broke alertly and so too rhetorical. And Rhetorical Keen goes right to the front.
Make me king will match strides with him. and Deterministic just off the pace, but he wants to get right after Rhetorical with a lap to go. So, it is Rhetorical setting the pace while well off the hedge. Deterministic and Make Me King are second and third and they're followed by Battle of Normandy with the black cap four lengths off the lead. Test scores now just inside of him. Then comes Bright Picture three wide on the outside of Integration. Tis Dashing is second to last and another two to one stripe. The opening quarter went in just under 23 seconds flat. And it is rhetorical. Arad Ortiz Jr. trying to ration his speed, leading 3/4 of a length to deterministic in second. Make me king races in third. Battle of
Normandy fourth. And then it's test score six lengths off the pace. Followed by Tis Dashing who's inching up inside. Bright picture. Integrations between those two. One stripe at the back. 47 seconds for the half mile. And it's rhetorical taking them into the far turn with a length and a half lead. Deterministic last year's Manhattan winner turns up the pressure now in second through six furongs in 109 and four. They're moving right along. Battle of Normandy moves up outside of Make King to score. One stripe is out of last and picking off horses in the yellow on the far outside. They're at the top of the stretch. It's rhetorical and deterministic. Rhetorical has something left. Deterministic's trying to get by
him late. Test score is in third and one stripe continues to close on the outside of make me king. Deterministic gradually wears down rhetorical. It is deterministic and Kendrick Carmug BACKTO BACK IN THE RESORTS WORLD Casino Manhattan. And that is five graded stakes in a row for deterministic and back-to- back wins in this prestigious grade one Manhattan. Miguel Clamont said, "We promise we'll be on the lead." I don't know. Well, comes from off the pace to win here. He didn't break that sharply. Kendrick tried to motivate him. He just didn't get really into the bit early and he ends up stalking and still drawing off at the end. I couldn't have been more wrong about this and I can't be more happy than I was.
It was a tremendous ride. He did not panic. I was on the saying why don't you engage the seven earlier but he looked underneath his arm. I you know Greg he always kind of had the seven in his sights. He had to worry about everybody else. Here comes test score. Good call by you Andy. We had a really good race. Manny Franco will give this horse a great ride. And again the eight unlucky bad trip but you got to get deterministic a ton of credit here. New course record as well. I know it's not run a lot, but for what it's worth, new course record at this mile and 316. It's the Belmont Stakes at Saratoga Racecourse. They're in the gate and they're off in the Belmont Stakes at
Saratoga and Power Shift sprints out of the gate. So too, Growth Equity on the inside. Vuvian Man is in third. Chief Wallaby fourth. Renegade not far behind. Five lengths off the pace. Emerging Market inches up on the outside of Commandment. Otinho is second to last and Golden Tempo once again takes his place at the back of the field. Power Shift will set the tempo leads the way into the clubhouse turn by 3/4 of a length with growth equity a clearcut second. Vuvian man is in third and they are followed by Emerging Market. The opening quarter went in a very moderate 23 and fourth seconds. It's another two lengths back. Chief Wallaby is kept on
the outside of Otinho. Then comes Renegade and Commandment stride for stride and Jose Ortiz takes the Kentucky Derby winner. Golden Tempo onto the rail and he's 12 lengths off the pace. It's power shift on the inside and growth equity head and head. The half went in 48 and 1/5 seconds coming to the halfmile pole in the Belmont Stakes with Betuvian man holding his spot in third. Then it's emerging market. Fourth and three and a half off them. Chief Walaby will go three wide outside of him. Now Renegade has called on. He's starting to make some headway. He's on the inside. Will need to find some room, but he's very much in the thick of it as Growth Equity has taken the lead in 112 and 1/5
seconds. Growth Equity shortly. Chief Wab is making a big move from behind. Golden Tempo is coming along with Commandment as the field turns for home. on the inside. Growth Equity is just in front. Chief Wallaby comes to him out in the center of the racetrack. Commandments running a giant race. Renegade in between and Golden Tempo. Renegade. Commandment on the outside. Golden Tempo from last to first has to fend off Commandment in the FINAL STRIDES. GOLDEN TEMPO PULLS AWAY LATE. GOLDEN TEMPO HAS WON THE BELMONT STAKES. COMMANDMENT ran lights out IN SECOND. RENEGADE WAS THIRD and Sheree Dvau WRITES ANOTHER CHAPTER IN HER OUTSTANDING STORY. the unofficial results. Golden Tempo wins the Belmont, but there is an inquiry going on here on the third turn.
The Stewards will check and see whether or not this result will become official. What a race. Uh, you know, just to give you an idea, I mean, Golden Tempo was literally written off. Shivo said, uh, going into this race, his running style leaves him very vulnerable, and he'll have to come with a run, but he'll need the perfect trip. He got the perfect trip, but not the perfect pace. The first half mile of this race was 10 lengths slower than the Kentucky Derby. And yet, Golden Tempo was able to pick him up the end. He's a champion. He's the leader in the clubhouse. He's the best three-year-old.
He did not get the pace scenario got in the Derby. and he showed he's not pace dependent. All right, let's check in with Sheree Debo who's with Tom Raldi right now. Sheree, one word, history. What does it mean to make it? Oh, uh, still trying to catch my breath. Yeah, Golden Tempo is amazing. Jose is amazing. The Fipps family, St. Elias is amazing. It's just a lot amazing feeling. And I don't know, I have to name a horse amazing. Now to achieve this right here in the way that you did, the last time that this race is going to be contested here at Saratoga, how do you put it into words?
It's it's so meaningful. Um have a lot of family here. Saratoga, it's been wonderful to have such a historic race here. It's like an appetizer for the meat, but um you know, it's so meaningful cuz the town gets to have this um and celebrate it along with all of us. Anyone would ask you, Sher, this horse, could it have won the Triple Crown? You know, it's not something I'm going to think about. We made our decision and he won today and we're going to be happy about that. One last thought here, Sher, as you make your way out. What did you know about this horse that perhaps others didn't after the derby? He was very much improving. Um I think he needed to do this to kind of show that he was meant
to win the derby. Um and that he is a horse that belongs in that conversation of being one of the top three-year-olds. Sher, congratulations. Well done. Thank you so much. Let's go to Maggie. And I'm here with Jose Ortiz. And Jose, while Sheree is in her hometown, this is your kind of home away from home. It's where you started to win the third and final Belmont Stakes at Saratoga. I don't think we're going to get that muddy smile off your face anytime soon. Not really, Maggie. I'm very happy to win today. Obviously, last Belmont in Saratoga uh make it special. But it's all about him. He we were just want him
to get better and keep winning this kind of races. So, you know, he make him more valuable on the road and we're very happy with him. So, it's all about him. Jose, a lot of people made the argument that he got the pace scenario in the derby. He didn't necessarily have that today. You were closer to the pace. Talk a little bit about what was going through your mind as you headed down the backstretch in last. No, I was following uh Renegade again, which is always a good target. The horse make his move around the half a mile going to the quarter pool and you know, Commandment was there as well. that he's very nice horse but you know people is
right he wasn't going to get the setup as he did on the derby uh we all knew that and I was a little worried about it uh you know he needs some kind of setup uh but today it wasn't none and he show up today and won so that make him very dangerous down the road for the for his rivals I would say so is this a dangerous horse because he is getting good at the right time physically he looks like a panther when he was walking around the paddic. Yeah, he was bouncing a bit today which made me very happy because I want him to be a little bit sharper today. Uh but the main thing with him is his mind. You can see him is very relaxed. Uh he does what I asked him to do and I think
that's that's that's the main thing. He's growing mentally as well and physically. So we like I said before we are very happy with him and uh it's all about him. It's all about Golden Temple. Jose, you won your first I know it's all about golden tempo and I would agree, but you won your first Belmont back in 2017, your first triple crown race. Now you've had your first derby. Congratulations on another Belmont. Thank you, Maggie. I appreciate it. You know, it's remarkable. Well, I mean, this is a situation where you have to have the athlete and Golden Tempo is certainly the athlete, but one Zigg when you should have zagged any
in your way in this entire race and he's not going to be the winner. Jose Ortiz was a true artist in how he got through this traffic, got to the top of the stretch and just as he did in the derby, pushed him outside and came home fastest of all, but saved ground around the turn before he dreaded his way to the outside with all that momentum. And you know, as a rider, if you get through or you don't, you know, not you're able to get to the clear, you're the hero. If you get stuck in there, you're the one who's going to take all the blame. You're the goat in the wrong way. Right. This was a tremendous ride, but he had the horse to do it. And how about the Fipps family and Vinnie and Terresa Viola, St.
Elias, co-breeding this horse, partners in this horse. And you got to say, Vinnie Viola, he's like a throwback to Art Rooney. Two Stanley Cups now, two Kentucky Derbies, and a Belmont Stakes. Yeah, Viola last won the Belmont with Tapit back in 2017. The Fibs family hadn't won the Belmont since easy goer in 1989. And so they can celebrate another great run down the stretch by Golden Temple who wins two of the three triple crown races this year. And we will in the gate and they're off. Wnebago is going out for the early lead, but there are several fighting for early supremacy including sounds like a pan blown cover and El Nage is just in behind them as they move into the first turn. A little bit of steadying there
for favorable scenario who is now on the hedge and about five lengths off the lead. They sort themselves out with blown cover in front. Sounds like a plan prompting the pace on the outside. Eln is in third out runner and Paco Lopez a closeup for three lengths off the lead. Winnebago is next heading up the next flight on the inside of Griffin's Wararf through an opening quarter that went in 23 and 35th seconds on the outside. Double act is next going by first call Bob another couple of lengths back to Noble Factor who's toward the back of the field stretch running Ramblin Wreck is the trailer the half in 47 and one sounds like a plan and Ricardo Santana
Jr. set sail from home without runner on the outside. A joint second blown cover is down on the inside third. It's another two lengths back. Winnebago is trying to get into the race taking the fourth spot as they've gone through six furongs as the field turns for home. 110 and four was that fraction. Sounds like a plan. Has a three-length lead. Chased throughout by blown cover on the inside. Continued headway from Wnebago who takes second and is finishing nicely outside of them. Favorable scenario. Sounds like a plan. Takes them virtually all the way. Tight for second. Favorable scenario. Got that, Bob. Then Winnebago and blown cover.
Sounds like a plan. Using his speed to his advantage. Wins for the fifth time in 11 tries on the grass. A horse that employed the same tactics, guys, last time out to take the victory and it proved to be another nice winning move here today. That's a great initiative from Ricardo Santana here from that 12 post. You have to make a decision. You got to go or you got to just get take all that cover and be on the hedge. He went for it. I like that. Yeah, he did. You know, the other horses that kind of were trying to send with him just could not run with them. The three Wnebago got a really good trip.
The five in your favorite scenario got the job done. You know, Greg, I was looking at the 12 and I kept telling myself, you know, this horse has ran giant numbers with Lasix on and Lasix back on today. Another W one. This horse flew home at 11 and change. Much the horse to beat. And look, this we're just seeing incredibly fast times. Oh yeah. On this turf course for this level. 133 and four. That's blazing. It is blazing. Now four wins with Lasix on and I you know Ricardo did this the right thing. Blown cover was part of that case. Ran pace ran okay to run fourth but just put everybody to bed early Samantha.
Yeah he really did and when you in your mind when you sit on your horse you get the leg up and you believe you have the best horse. You ride the horse like he's the best in the race and that's exactly what Ricardo Santana did. Yeah. 125 36 finish. By the way it got a little squirrely there for the eight. Look I almost fell off the eight there on the turn. I don't know what happened. A little horse got spooked or something, but hopefully he's okay. There's Arasio. We're going to get a picture of Arasio here in a little bit. Another guy. His horses have been running so well. You seen the 12. Oh, so sounds like a plan. Club 65 racing.
And let's take a look if we can see here with the eight. Watch the eight right here. So me and Samantha were trying to look. I don't know if he gets sideways a little bit right here, but he kind of jumps a shadow or something. I I've got to see it again, Paul, to see. I mean, it could have just the ground could have come out from under him a little bit. Uh oh. Oh, yeah. You're right. Kind of slipper. And you know what? He was hitting that turn at so much speed. It's kind of just like a burnout in your car. Greg, I know you're doing that in the parking lots, aren't you? Doing donuts. Wouldn't want to do that on a 12,200lb animal.
Not a good idea. No one able to catch. Sounds like a plan. That is a perfect example of why speed can be so dangerous. You're you nail on the head. They were just never c. This is the I guess the equation of a horse being so much the best when you just go to the front end, put everybody to bed, and nobody can catch
