Hard to take in much detail. Apparently, this tradition began when local growers would compete to see how much coffee they could load onto the back of their jeeps. There's now an annual festival which sees drivers compete from across the region. So, Joan is asking us if you want to go into the car. Uh yeah. Is peligroso? Okay, that's what I wanted to hear. All right, I understand. I'll be honest, I liked it a lot. It's There's a hip-hop thing about it. You know, that sort of low rider, showing off the hydraulics and all that I love all of that.

And then, I look across and there's a guy gesturing to me with his hat off and I think, "Oh, who's that bloke?" Oh, that's the driver. He's got out. I'm sorry, mate. Unacceptable. First of all, unacceptable to get out of the car. Second of all, unacceptable to get out without checking with your passengers if they feel comfortable about it. And then, we just sat on there. Hayes was laughing. It sort of descending into hysteria. It's just We could die here. That was amazing. Holy Colombian coffee is considered by many to be the finest grown anywhere in the world. 810,000 tons of this stuff is produced here each

year. The equivalent of roughly 115 billion cups. On arrival at the farm, Hazel informed me that it was my task to produce just one. You have to do the whole process to enjoy the cup of coffee in the end. Well, let's go then. No, I'm just going to wait here like I love landscape. I told you I always like to take a view. Meet people. I know what this is. I'll go make the coffee then. Yeah. You relax, yeah? And I'll bring you back a cup of coffee like an absolute very much. I love you. Never change.

You're amazing. I trust in you. Shut up. Bye. Finca El Ocaso is a small family-run farm that's been producing coffee here for hundreds of years. We are going to pick only the red one, yeah? This one, right? Yeah. They've recently started offering a coffee picking experience and their son, Santiago, guided me through the process. Fast? Yes. So, how many cups of coffee could I get out of this? Mhm. Estimate. I won't quote you on it. Maybe like a two or three.

Two or three? Yeah. Well, that's enough then. Let's go. Let's go next stage, isn't it? There's still a couple of green ones in there, Santiago, and I'm not trying to point any fingers, but wasn't me. There followed stages in which I was asked to remove the skins, wash them to remove any residues, and make coffee in the bed. Just in the bed. Yeah. And then spread them out to dry. At this point, Santiago mentioned that we should now come back in a week when the beans would be ready. So, we wait for 7 days or 10 days.

7 to 10 days? Yeah. The exercise revealed as meaningless, I skipped the roasting, grinding, and brewing sections, and opted to simply buy Hazel a cup from the cafe. Hello, Hazel. Hey. Are you tired, are you? Sitting on your ass all afternoon. Yeah. A bit. I bought some coffee. to ask you how are you? Can I say something? I didn't even make this. Shall I tell you why? Because it takes 10 days. Oh. Okay. So, this utterly pointless exercise. So, I just went around.

Oh. But did you grab some beans? know what this Yes, I did. Oh, that's nice. Have you done that before? Yes. When? I'm Colombian. So, tell me through the stages. You pick the beans, then what do you do? Then you uh put it in the sun to toast. Okay. Absolute bollocks. So, you don't know how to do it. No. Which one is this the coffee? No, that's like the fourth step. Beautiful. Mhm. Not worth it, but beautiful. So, I want to show the bridge. This is the most famous symbol of Bosnia and Herzegovina. So, this bridge was made in the Ottoman time. It was built like in the mid-16th century.

And ever since then, it became the most important symbol of this country. But also, unfortunately, in 1993, it was destroyed in the war. When it was reconstructed in 2004, it become the symbol number one of Bosnia and Herzegovina. It was special because ever since it was built, people started diving from it as well. So, even today you have this diving competition, which is slowly entering the fifth 500 year of the anniversary of diving. It looks quite dangerous. It looks very dangerous. Would you like to try? Um I don't think so. We should go up. We can have a look like how it feels on the top. So, maybe you will know only then better what you feel about it.

I mean, I feel like I know now, but I'm happy to go and have a look. And then we can confirm that I'm not doing it. Okay, let's go. So, I would like to introduce to my friend who can maybe show us how it's done. sick just watching this. Hello, nice to meet you. How are you? All right? I mean, have people hurt themselves doing this? So, you got to penetrate the water. I mean, do you mind if I see you have a go and then I'll make up my mind whether I want to do it. Is that okay? Cuz I think it's only fair that I see him do it first, right?

Very good. Wow. That looks horrific. How do you feel about doing it? Oh god, I don't want to do it. I don't I think you should do it. I don't want to do this, man. I don't I can't do this. Is it actually all right to do? Health and safety sign up, so Okay, let's just get it over and done with cuz I'm myself. If you don't do it, we don't really have an end to the show. Just We do have an end. Just go cut to credits. Otherwise, the end of the show is going to be what Nish died in the fall. And then you're going to cut to credits. And then it's going to be Misadventures of Nish Kumar.

You can stop. I'm just going to do it, okay? I'll do it. Yes, my man. Really? Okay, three, two, one, go. Ah! [screaming] YES! COME ON, MAN. WOO! THAT FELT UNBELIEVABLE. This is the apparition hill above us. Right. So, this is where the Virgin Mary appeared to those children which I told you about. Okay. Do you want to go up? Yeah, let's go. No, no, no, wait, wait, wait. I don't go. I stay. Fine. You need to experience this place for yourself on your own. I won't do any good to you.

It's like spiritual thing. So, you're staying here? I'm staying And what are you going to do while I'm gone? I'm going to have a coffee or something like that. But, please be careful. It's very slippery. People get injured. Some people even died on the road up. Okay, that's something you tell somebody after they finish the walk, yeah? But, the prayers will save you, I'm sure. see you in a bit. See you in a bit, mate. See you in a bit.

I said if you're for Skender at this point, I'd stay down and have a coffee. Can't help feeling I'm the victim of a stitch-up. It's going to be an apparition of my fist to his face when I get back down. Oh, God. Is this worth it? It'd be worth it if we see something. Well, we're not going to see anything. How do you know? Come on, mate. Is I there? Rummy. Did you see anything? In contrast to Sarajevo, the weather was much, much nicer down here. Herzegovina felt like a different country to Bosnia,

even though it isn't one. Although it sounds like it. Skender told me the warmer Mediterranean climate is perfect for producing wines. I'm going to try some of the finest Herzegovinian wines. That evening, he took me to a local vineyard for a tasting session. Moze, moze. Samo izvoli. Moze? Moze is okay. Ah. Really good. Very good, yeah. So, I scanned it took me to uh wine tasting and I'm going to be straight up with you.

I am so smashed. It's I literally can't see. I cannot see. So, what uh what are you looking for in a good wine? Smell and taste. Smell and taste and that's the way to distinguish it. I've got you actually, mate. Of the two things that I thought you could engage with sense-wise, I'd guessed taste and smell. I didn't think I was supposed to listen to it. Isn't it bad to mix wines? That's lovely. So, what do you think? Tell me what you think about it. [snorts] There's not loads left in this, you know that.

What have you learned about Herzegovinian wine? I've learned it's delicious. It is tasty. I have some gift for you. Stay there. You know what is this? Uh bottle? Pyramid water. Oh my god. It's for you. Is this the water with the vibration, the love vibration? Yes, from the pyramid. That's the one. Oh my god. That's the best you can get. THIS IS WORTHLESS.

WHAT TASTES CAME THROUGH? WINE. Next question. I want to say that I told you when you came that the Bosnia and Herzegovina is going to blow your mind. It's not an ordinary tourist destination. It's not an ordinary story something you heard of already. But when you go home it stays with you like deep in your heart. So I told you're going to love it. That was such a beautiful speech.

Welcome to El Totumo volcano. Do you like it? I mean um is this really a volc- is it a volcano is it? Yes, one of the tiniest one in Colombia. And how long has it been here for? Almost 3,000 years. 3,000 years? Yeah, since like we have the planet. It's pretty old. Since we have the planet. Are you under the impression the planet is 3,000 years old? No, no. Just in Colombia. Yeah, yeah. Okay, I think that needs a fact check. Essentially looks like an anthill that got out of control. people in here believe that this they say that is uh used to spit fire and lay and everything but as a priest says that

it was like a devil thing and he just poured holy water in the volcano. That's like the popular belief. That's the popular belief. Yeah. What's the unpopular belief? And we are here Romesh Ranganathan. You can absolutely eat if you think I'm getting in there. No, you're going to. Hazel told me that this volcano apparently has healing properties and that one quick dip would dramatically improve my complexion.

I was skeptical as to the benefits of bathing in a giant vat of dead skin. Right, let's go, Hazel. Stop about. But after much debate, I agreed to take the plunge. Hazel, come on. Get in the volcano. I hate you. Oh, god. She's horrible. UP. DOWN. OH! OH, MATE. THIS IS HORRIBLE. OH MY GOD, like it feels like the Black Sea. There's something IN THE TOILET. ARE YOU OKAY? NO, NO, NO, YOU DID GOOD. THAT WAS SO GRACEFUL. You know that. You okay, ready?

You got it, baby. Are you really going to Why did you do that? Come on, baby. How do I look? So old. Like a You guys look like Shrek. Like a prick? No, Shrek. Shrek? Yeah. Right. Can you just put your head under again, mate? I'll be honest with you, mate. My ears are completely filled with mud. I can't hear anything you're saying. Can you just put your head under again, mate? Can you stick your head under, mate? Huh? One more time. I'm getting mate. I'm literally I'm deaf. I've got volcano in my ears.

Okay, don't worry. Just get out. Just this one's come back. What did you say? No, we have to go. GET OUT OF MY SWAMP. OUT OF THERE. THIS IS absolute No, this is great. No, honestly, it's great. Great idea, and it's not annoying to get the mud off or anything. No problem. There's showers. Don't worry about that, mate. For the benefit of those who can't tell, I'm currently getting my junk rinsed.

Would you recommend the volcano experience to your friends? Would I recommend it? Yeah. It's difficult now because I'm torn between the fact that I think you've done a wonderful job on this trip. I'm torn between that and the fact that I think that volcano was a load of Did you have fun? I had fun. They laughed a lot. Yeah, I Yeah, I had fun because I'm with you, right? And we had a nice time. But you don't have to get into a fake volcano to do that.

We could have just gone to a cafe. No, that wouldn't be that fun. Did she help you clean your bum? Yes, she put her hand in between my cheeks. No. She did. There should be some sort of licensing. Otherwise, anybody can go in the lake with a bowl and just fondle people. There was no sign or anything.
