I Bought Every Tech Product Recommended by Top YouTubers to See Whose Taste Is Best

The creator asked some of the world's biggest YouTubers what their favorite piece of tech is, then bought every answer to judge whose taste is best. Tom Scott, with nearly 7 million subscribers, recommended an Amazon premium headset that costs about 10 pounds but sounds far more expensive.

I Tested YouTubers' Favourite Products. | Transcript:

I asked the biggest YouTubers in the world the most important question. What's your favorite piece of tech? Then I bought every single answer to find out who on the internet has the best taste. Whose products am I going to start using every day? And whose recommendations are a bit of a red flag? Up first, the man who's been wearing one this single t-shirt for the last 15 years. It's Tom Scott with nearly 7 million subscribers. All right, let's see what he's got. The Amazon premium headset. What? Costs about 10 pounds, sounds like a much more expensive pair of headphones, has actual wires so it never runs out of battery, doesn't completely plug my ears

so I can still hear the outside world. These were so good that when they stopped making them, I bought a bulk lot from a discount supplier just so I didn't have to pick new headphones for the next few years. Oh my god, never change. All right, let's see. This is actually quite clever cuz the bottom half of the cable is thick and flat so it doesn't tangle. And then for the top half, the earbuds themselves actually have magnets inside of them so they just snap together which also stops tangling there. And then sound-wise, these are great. They actually sound almost identical to Apple's AirPods which are two times the price.

Weirdly solid pick. But how long can discontinued Amazon earbuds really keep you in first position? Because our next guest would probably have a thing or two to say about them. It's iJustine. A woman so dedicated to Apple, she makes Tim Cook look like an Android user. If you're looking to digitize all of your family photos, but I wasn't till now. this thing is absolutely incredible. That's not an Apple product. This is the Epson 680 fast photo scanner. It can scan around 36 photos at a time. I spent over two weeks over the holidays scanning all of my family photos in.

Okay. So let's say that I had 30 photos of my favorite man. What? It's from my personal collection. So then you put that. That is fast. That's like a photo a second. And then in that second, it is scanning both sides of the photo at once. You actually get whatever's on the back as a digital file, too. It's also figured out the ones that have nothing on the back and it's just filtered them out. So, you don't get any blank backs in your library. And then it's also meant to increase the quality of the image. So, this is the original photo. This is how it looks when it first gets scanned in. And then this is how it looks once the software applies this enhancement layer. And it's bang on. I like this a lot.

You have to be a certain type of person for this to be worth buying over just using a scanning app on your phone. But, this is tech that I've never even considered buying that could still be extremely useful. You know what else I never considered? That a guy making Call of Duty skill shot videos in 2013 would end up as a Sidemen member turned worldwide DJ turned the only other man that I keep 30 printed photos of. It's FiX Star 123. All right, Aaron. This is my favorite tech product. It's a bit boring, but I need this. It's my Starlink. I live in an area without fiber optic internet, so Starlink is the only way I get fast speeds. I'm uploading stuff and

downloading stuff all the time. And it does the job. It's great. Keeps me online. Mhm. This one's tricky. Because for those of you who don't know, Starlink gets you internet by communicating directly with the satellites orbiting the Earth instead of a cable in the ground. But, from my experience, things have to get pretty bad here in the UK for Starlink to be your best option. And Starlink latency can be pretty rough cuz your data's got to ping back and forth over some rather large distances, which is not ideal for a games man like yourself, Vic. But, if your internet does suck, then like he says, there is nothing quite like Starlink. So, my question is what field are you living in, Vic?

I think I'm going to put you squarely in the middle of the pack right now. Now, while Vic has gone all the way from gaming chair to DJ booth, our next guy would consider both of those a wreck stay. It's Jesse James West with nearly 10 million subs and more importantly top five smiles on the internet. I can't remember if I've ever even seen this man with a t-shirt on. Mr. Who's the Boss, this is Mr. Who's the Biceps. My favorite tech product is actually one that makes you not use tech. It is the brick. Every night at 7:00 p.m. basically turns off all of work. It helps me stay focused to what

matters in life, aka my family. I withdrew from social media and work for the first few weeks, but now I look forward to my 7:00 p.m. getting bricked. You look forward to it. Weirdly, I actually do completely relate to that because I love the idea. The brick lets you select apps that you find distracting and then every time you touch it with your phone, which I guess he does at 7:00 p.m., it'll use NFC to disable those apps until you tap it again. And seeing him using this as a way to spend better quality time with his family is actually kind of making me want to do the same, but I don't think this is the best product for actually

achieving this goal. The brick is $59 a pop and after having had a quick dig around, I found an app called Focus that does everything that the brick does and more. And it's free because here you can choose any method to trigger the disabling of your apps. So if you like the tapping thing, you can just buy a generic NFC tag and that's going to cost you like 10 cents, but you can also then scan QR codes or even just automatically set the disabling on a schedule. There's so much customizability here, too. Focus can disable not just the apps, but also the accompanying web pages and even prevent you from deleting your apps to try and reinstall them and get around it. So I love you, Mr. Who's the Biceps,

but I think the product you're recommending is a pretty redundant one. I'm going to have to put you down there. Funnily enough, our next YouTuber also turns phones into bricks. Except his method of achieving that involves a box cutter and a lighter. It's jerry-rig everything at just over the 10 million mark. Okay, let's see. One of my favorite tech products of all time is probably this Casio F-91W. This is the most jerry-rigged answer possible. This is the same man who will happily use a smartphone from like 5 years ago, even though he has access to every shiny new one.

It cost me 20 bucks, has a 7-year battery life, and is water resistant to 50 m. To be fair, those are pretty good stats. I'm not sure about this one. This is such a dad watch. Yes, I'm aware that fatherhood is rapidly approaching me, too, but this Casio is like the final boss of fatherly function over form. You know, they haven't even tweaked the design of this watch since 1989, but that's also kind of the point because this is everything that you would need if you don't want smartwatch features. It's got a stopwatch and alarm. It's got a backlight, so you can always see the screen.

It's really light. So, you can barely feel it when it's on, much less so than my Apple Watch. The battery life is so long that by the time this thing runs out, my unborn son will be doing homework. Oh, and you could buy four of them for the price of that one brick. Although, four watches might just be a me thing. So, while I can't say I'm going to be switching to this, I also can't fault the utility maxing logic. Kind of has to go above Tom Scott's discontinued air fryer because it has stood the test of time. Literally. Now, for the first of three of my teammates from the Sidemen Charity Football Match, it's the only man who watches our videos more than I do. It's Miniminter.

Now, the issue I have is all the tech I've bought is because of you. For example, the Qubi Go. Am I being schmoozed here? The Ninja, hence why we have two. Ah, have the slushy machines. It's actually a little bit awkward cuz I stopped using mine, but you can't really go too wrong with Ninja. The Balmuda toaster. I didn't know you were a connoisseur. Me, too. But, my favorite thing which I know you have anyway, Just keeps going. is the Eight Sleep.

Yeah, I mean, there's always someone who wants it cooler, and a temperature-controlled bed is a far easier way of achieving that objective than like trying to aim a fan at one specific person. My favorite piece of tech is this table tennis machine. Ignore the mess. Would you look at that? We've used one of those, too. Simon, your house is starting to look a little bit like mine. If you struggle to get friends over, it is literally your best friend. Yeah, I mean, this is also just an immaculate choice. Fine, Simon. This feels like bait, but I'll bite. I do feel like I'm just rating myself here. But, to be fair, you have bought the products, and you do use them and love them,

and they're great choices. But, you know what else I'd rate highly? This segway to our next YouTuber. It's LinusTechTips. They don't do that, right, Linus? A little known fact about me is I absolutely hate charging devices and changing batteries. Okay, same. That's why I set up one of these crazy wireless power transmitters for my smart door lock. Am I the only one who had absolutely no idea that companies were already making wireless power transmitters? And it's why I have one of these at every one of my setups. Not the LTT desk pad, the thing under it, the Logitech POWERPLAY. This bad boy charges your

mouse for you while you're using it. So, with this guy, you never plug in your mouse, you never change the battery again. Freaking love it. Right, anything designed to reduce clutter, I'm immediately interested. So, this wireless power transmitter, I did a little digging. I reached out to five different people who work at this company, and one of them replied, but they replied to say that the brand has run out of money. There are no employees left, but the product still works. So, if you want to come to Israel, you can try it. Sorry, Linus, but I think I'm going to pass on that one. But this

Logitech power play now, I did get. It's filled with wireless coils which generate an electromagnetic field that is picked up by this little charging coin inside the mouse. And it totally feels like the kind of product I would love, but I just feel like it's not solving a very important problem. Dropping a hundred dollars and having to have this permanent cable would be so worth it if it could keep, say, your laptop always charged wirelessly. But the mouse, I currently use an MX Master 4 and as it is, this only needs to be charged like once every two and a half months anyway. Plus then the charging coin only fits in compatible mice. So I'd have to swap out this, which is so beautiful and

ergonomic, for one of these gaming mice. This isn't bad. I just feel like when you go master, can't go back. So I'm going to say better than the dad watch, not quite Wi-Fi in a field. But I can't think of many people who've made more real life power plays than our next guy. YouTuber, boxer, rapper, and billion dollar hydration salesman. It's KSI with 19 million subs. All right, mister. Who's the boss? Dude, why are you so wet? Just finished a workout. Yeah, I worked out, just not like that. And these are my SoundCore's. Uh space series. I've worn them for years, as you can see. I probably should get a new

one, but I believe these are the best headset to work out in. Um they sound great. They last long, evidently. And yeah, I believe they're fantastic. Let me know what you think. Good to know he's keeping his headphones hydrated, too. Okay. All right, let's have it. To be fair to him, SoundCore is absolutely the man of culture's choice. Every time I've tested one of their headphones, it has punched well above its weight and value. Did you moisten this up to simulate his? It's all part of the service. Right. Locked in. Yeah, I mean, for a hundred and forty dollars, this is fantastic. And like seriously comfy, as well. But I'm just confused. Given that this is the same

man who spent like $500,000 on his chain, why is he using the affordable alternative headphones? Actually thinking about the state of his ear, kind of makes sense. This is actually just such a solid, hard-to-fault product choice. So, for now at least, Mr. KSI, you've made it almost all the way to the top. Which is fitting because our next YouTuber has built an entire career out of making it to places that he's absolutely not supposed to be. I'm expecting something unexpected here from Erack. All right, Mr. Who's the Boss, I am reluctantly about to put you on to my favorite piece of tech that I own.

Reluctantly? What is this, world's best kept secret? This is the Omi watch. I definitely haven't seen one of those before. This bad boy transcribes everything that I say all day long and then sends it over to Claude, ChatGPT, whatever your you know, LLM of choice is. That sounds insane. I basically got tired of typing everything into to Claude, and so this thing transcribes everything that I say, and then I can just prompt off of the words that I say all day long.

This is actually so Erack. He says lots of things, but you know that there'll be nuggets of magic hidden somewhere in there. And I guess something like this helps him to extract them. It's really cool. We're actually getting a little bit of the personalities of each YouTuber with the products that they choose. So in theory, this could become my second brain. The idea that it's storing everything I ever say during my day and keeping it immediately ready to reference when I ask questions to my AI of choice, it's like simultaneously the most horrifying and also potentially useful AI-related gadget I think I've ever seen. And I've actually had this thing recording for the entire time we've been shooting.

Oh gosh, yeah. It's got like every single one of my outtakes in here, too. Some of the words are not quite right, but to be fair, it has also been a little bit further away from me than it would normally be. So from there, what it starts to do is to build this kind of mental map of your thoughts. Maybe it's just the way it's laying out, but this very much looks like the way neurons are connected in your brain. So, I can click into any of these topics. Oh, it's actually created individual summary pages for each YouTuber that we've gone through. This is weird. All of this information is only useful in so much as it can do something with them. So, if I were to ask Omi, "Which YouTuber do I keep 30 printed photos of?"

There's no way it's going to get this right. Oh, it's actually kind of found it. It references all the lines I was saying around that point, like the Call of Duty skill shot videos and the Sidemen member and a worldwide DJ, but it just doesn't go as far as to say the name was Vikstar. "What comment I've said today got the most laughs?" No laugh reactions got logged. But if I had to bet on the biggest crowd-pleaser from today's recording session, it's probably the KSI sweaty headphones bit. "Based on what you've heard, which YouTuber is currently at the very top?" It's along the right lines cuz it says, "I really like the KSI one." But then it wasn't at the top because I said it nearly reached the top. Then it hasn't

actually clocked what's above it. "Which gadget I've mentioned so far has been the cheapest?" Cheapest by far is Tom Scott's pick. He recommends Amazon premium headphones costing about £10. That is correct. I guess you could say the focus app is free, but but I think that gets a pass. I think this has very high potential, but it's a little rough around the edges. And I really don't like the fact that you basically have to pay a $22 a month subscription, otherwise there's a sharp cap on how many minutes it's going to listen to you. Your transcription quality is worse, your battery drains faster, and everything that you say will be used to train future AI models. So, don't love that part of it. But if anyone is going to drop an even

higher-tier recommendation, it's our fellow tech reviewer and not-so-fellow ultimate frisbee world champion, is Marques Brownlee. All right. Probably kind of a weird piece of tech, but maybe perfect for this video. Uh I swear by these. These are the Hyperice Normatec legs. Uh and they're just a recovery tool. So, if you do a lot of working out, then in between those workouts, you want to recover as quickly as possible. And these help circulate the blood through your legs on a regular basis. Uh I A lot of people I know swear by them, and I also swear by them. They're amazing.

Try them out. I have something very similar to this that I use for knee joint recovery, but this looks like a whole other level. Well, I am bang on the target market for this, because every Sunday I play football with a group of friends, and every session, guaranteed, maybe because we've now hit the ripe old age of 30, we're aching for 3 days straight. Wow, these are giant. Right leg in this packet. Left leg in that bag. Woah. The compression's getting tighter and tighter, and I don't know when it's going to stop. It's working its way up the legs, one section at a time. Feel

like I'm wearing one of those sumo suits. There's something very mentally freeing about this just being tip to toe, your full legs in one go, as opposed to having to worry about targeting specifically your knee or your quads. I am more than comfortable right now, and you could so easily just get work done or chill while this is happening. So, do they work? Yes. Yes, they do. Whether it's just the fact that it's powerful compression, or specifically the way that it uses biomimicry to replicate the natural muscle pumps and one-way valves of the legs, I can't feel anything, and it's only been a day and a half. So, I think Sorry, MiniMinter, but Marques is stealing your spot, because you show me stuff that I love that I already knew

about. He showed me something I love that I had no idea existed. I don't think our next YouTuber even needs one of those, though. A man with unlimited energy, he's crossed 50 states in 50 days. And if I had a penny for every Airbnb he's visited, I don't think I'd be sitting here. It's Ryan Trahan. Hello, Mr. Who's the Boss? It is I, Ryan Trahan. It is I. Didn't realize I'd summoned you from the skies. And I am here to share my favorite tech product, and I've come to the bedroom for this one, where I have my alarm clock. I got it on Amazon. I think it's called the Loftie alarm clock, and it

has this cool light at the bottom. Okay, whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa, Ryan. That is a hideous mess of cables. That's more disgusting than KSI's headphones. It prevents me from bringing my phone in the room, and when I'm trying to go to sleep scrolling. How does an alarm clock prevent you scrolling? Am I missing something? And it has a lot of cool alarms and sounds, and it's just helped me to actually wake up on time, and to go to sleep on time. Have a good time with it. Enjoy it. Ooh. It's definitely aesthetic. If I was going to have a dedicated alarm clock, this is what I would want it to look like. And it does a lot. It's got a

nightlight, a backup battery in case you lose power overnight, over 100 different sounds to fall asleep to, and then a signature two-stage alarm to wake you up with. So, it'll start off by sounding something like this. Wow. That is nice. And then that will transition to something a bit more like this. [bell] Yeah, that would get me up. But in a nice way. Oh, this is what Ryan meant. So, there's a feature here called drift, where your phone can apparently pick up a Bluetooth signal when you enter the room of your alarm clock, and then use that signal to just disable the apps that you don't want to go into, so you stay in the headspace for sleep. So, this is basically like Jesse's brick,

but just doesn't even need you to touch it. All right, so, now, all of my apps are enabled. I can open up Temple Run, for example, and be the only person still playing that game. And now, as I get closer to the lofty, at what point, I'm curious, is it going to disable my apps? Or is this some really finicky, faffy thing that you're not going to use? It's done. Look at that. And then suddenly, I can't go in. It says, "Time to drift. Your bedroom is a sanctuary. Put your phone down." That was super responsive. So, I think the automaticness of that makes it a better product than the brick. But, the sticking point is this feature needs a paid subscription to work. $10 a month on top of the alarm already costing $170. So, I like this thing a lot, but I can't see

any reason why that should be costing an extra monthly fee. Especially because, as we've seen, there are completely free ways of getting a very similar benefit. But, I don't get the impression that our next YouTuber spends a lot of time winding down at all. A man who's built up 30 million subscribers staying up till 4:00 a.m. playing games and pranking his family. It's FaZe Rug. Hey, Mr. Who's the Boss? It's Rug, and my favorite tech product is this touchscreen toaster. You have no idea who you're dealing with.

Look at this. So, you have plenty of options to choose from. You got bread, bagel, waffle, a Pop-Tart, English muffin, and then look at all these different settings. And it shows you how it's going to come out, and it's very accurate. Let me know what you think. Ooh, that. I do not fancy his chances. But, we're going to test it anyway, because I mean, either way, I get a sandwich out of it. We're going to remake FaZe Rug's favorite thing to eat, which starts with a bagel. That child is going to be a pro athlete. I'm here. And then, to cut said bagel, okay, we probably shouldn't use that one.

We can use the tech recommendation from our next YouTuber. He's cooked with Gordon Ramsay. He's cooked for a lion, he's taught a rat to make ratatouille. It's Nick DiGiovanni. Hey Ruin, it's Nick. Honestly, I don't have a favorite kitchen tech gadget cuz I don't use that many of them. In fact, even with steaks, I very, very rarely will temp a steak with a thermometer. Are we counting thermometer as tech? I did not realize how much of a purist he was. However, I did make a video recently with that ultra-sonic chef's knife. It's brand new. Uh I don't even think it's released yet, but I'm happy to help you

get your hands on it if you want to play around with it. I do. Yes, please. I'm wanting to test this since pretty much the moment I saw it get announced. It's a knife, but when you hold the trigger, this uses high-frequency vibration to bounce the blade back and forth over a microscopic distance like 30,000 times per second. In theory, doing a lot of the cutting for you. Ooh, we are gliding through. It's not a bad slice, you know. So, if I were to cut the same bagel now without using the ultra-sonic mode, does it make a difference?

Not sure it does. If anything, that's actually a better slice. So, this bagel goes into Rob's toaster, which he says to place on setting four. Seems like a sensible amount of toastiness. Dare I say even the correct amount. And then the other bagel is going into Bermuda because no toaster gets a say in this household until it's been tested against this. 3, 2, 1, go. That is really cool. I like it when things happen automatically. You're kidding me. That was fast. Okay, so does that match the image? I'm not sure I'd call that close enough for it to warrant having an image for each level of toastiness. Looks more like a three, doesn't it? Ooh, one thing

I've noticed while slicing this avocado is when you have the ultra-sonic mode on, it doesn't stick to the knife. Because the ultra-sonic is vibrating so fast, it's reducing the friction that the knife has with the food. So, as soon as I turn it off and I slice, you see that? To be fair, I kind of feel like a lot of the benefits of this could also be solved by just getting a sharper, better, normal knife. It would save you on a lot of cost and a lot of charging. So, I think Nick's knife fits in around here. Jesse's finally got some company. But now that both bagels are done, oh my god. Goodness. Look at this bagel. If you forget fours, this is a 10. Let's assemble the dream sandwich, which according to Phase is cream cheese

first, medium fried egg, avocado slices, turkey, all finished off with a little bit of chili oil. Okay, the sandwich is a leaker. I actually think you could do better with the bread, cuz it is still just mostly soft, at which point why bother toasting it? Let's just quickly whip up the exact same sandwich using the Balmuda's output. The bite, man. It is different. This feels like the difference between satisfied amazed. But yeah, this does not convince me to switch away. Put it that way. This doesn't have a screen like Phase Rug's toaster, but once you decide the setting that you like, do you need a screen? All right, Rug. This isn't going to feel good now, but I'm doing this for your benefit. You'll thank me later. So, that's toasting

covered, but our next YouTuber has built his entire career on roasting. He's one of the most subscribed individuals in all of India. It's funny man, CarryMinati. Okay, so I don't think I need to explain this. Uh, yeah, I mean, this saves my ass so many times when I'm outside the country. So, yeah, man. I'm excited for you to showcase it to your fans. Spray on. Hot god. Yeah. He's talking about a bidet. Hindware Italian collection. So, you pull this top section off, fill it with water, and then as long as you have two AAA batteries inside, you are good to go when you need to go. I was

talked into this. This wasn't my first plan. Since I am becoming a father, it's a pretty good way to test it. Why does this baby have so much detail? Saying in a teller and it looks so grim. Oh, it goes all the way around the back. So, that goes there. Oh my god, the spray. I don't know, man. This is a little more splashback than I would personally choose to have. And now we're out. Concept of a bidet? Good. This particular one?

You're good in a water fight. I think when the bidet comes out, they will run. In a way, this is the worst product we've used so far because the consequences of it could become a lot worse than Jesse's brick. I don't want to pull my arm. Sorry, buddy. I'd like to flush that one from my memory. But the one time where aiming accuracy becomes even more important is when you're going for the world record for the longest ever basketball shot with your head. It's Jessa. Mr. Who's the boss? All right, man. Genuinely my favorite tech products, it's got to be the Tesla, bro. Look at this dude. You got autopilot on right now. The autopilot, the self-driving dude, that is legendary.

There's nothing better. Probably the most expensive product on this list, but it's the best. He does understand that I need to get these products, right? All right, Jessa. I'll bite. We've got a Tesla. Sadly, we can't use self-driving here in the UK at least, which is kind of mad considering that Tesla's been offering this as a paid extra for a literal decade now, but it's just regulation. America regulates things after they go wrong. Europe regulates things before they're even allowed. This is shot, by the way, with the literally just announced Insta360 X6, our sponsor. And in a weird way, this camera

is actually now more autonomous than the car. But, I do think Tesla is a strong pick. They're not the super exclusive tech flex that they used to be, but they are more affordable than ever. And the self-driving, if you can access it, is super impressive. So, I would say, Jessa, we're going to park you right there. And the crazy thing about this X6 is you already know that 360 cams that you just hit recording and capture everything at once, right? So, as a creator, I don't need to worry about missing anything. Well, the X6 adds to that with custom Sony square sensors that are 35% larger than last gen. So, the quality is even better, but there is also now an entirely new AI director baked into here, which means that when I plug this thing into charge, it will by

itself filter through the clips I've taken, it will cut them and frame them itself, it'll add music, and it will literally just ping the final finished fully edited video to my phone when it's done. So, link below for the X6 if you want all the work done for you. But, now it's time for a YouTuber who has not stopped working himself for the last 10 years. He's buried himself alive, tipped a pizza delivery driver with a house, and has built up the largest YouTube channel on the planet. Yeah, it's Mr. Beast. All right. Let's have at it, Jimmy. How's it going, boss? One of my favorite tech products I can't live without is this hot bento box, which basically keeps my food warm. I just keep it in my car, and at any point you press this button.

That looks like some good chicken. And it will literally heat up your food. It's like a portable microwave. It is freaking awesome. Love it when people recommend food. So, we recreated Mr. Beast's lunch. We got the rice, we got the broccoli, and most importantly, the fried chicken. So, this has been heating in the hot bento for about half an hour, and I'm just very curious to see, is this just going to taste like a soggy pile of mush? Because it's been sitting in my car for the whole morning, which is how I imagine they want you to use it before you eventually get time to eat.

It's hot all the way through. It's not crispy. The rice is good. It's maintained its fluffiness and it's not all stuck together. What I really like here is that it's very evenly heated everything. Unlike just sticking it into the microwave. Very acceptable way to have a lunch when you don't have access to fresh food. I'm going to say Mr. Beast. Can be Mr. Beast. I didn't just do that for the pun. Shout out to Marques for the number one recommendation. No surprises there.

Well, catch you in the next one.
