Hey, it's me, Blippi. Hey, and I'm Meekah. And look at where we're at. Today, we're at Diamond Bakery in Los Angeles, California. Right, and we're so excited because we get to learn how to make pretzels from the owner of Shappy Pretzel Company. Oh, I'm excited. Wait a second. Meekah, do you smell that? Yeah, it smells so good. Ooh, I wonder if they taste as good as they smell. Yeah, let's go find out. Here you go. Thank you.
OH, BLIPPI, LOOK AT those pretzels. They look so yummy. Yeah, they do. Yeah, and there's so many different kinds. look at those on top, the little ones. Oh, yeah. Looks like they even have some sugar on them. HI, GUYS. WELCOME TO SHAPPY PRETZEL. HEY, NICE TO meet you. I'm Blippi. Hi, I'm Meekah. I'm so excited to meet you both. What's your name? I'm Shappy. I own SHAPPY PRETZEL. OH, COOL. SO, YOU'RE THE ONE that makes all these pretzels?
I do. I get to make all the pretzels, and it is my favorite thing in the world. Wow, how did you get started? making them in my kitchen with my son, Alby. Aw, that's fun. So, you started having fun, and then it turned into a business? into a big old business, and we needed to find a much bigger kitchen, which is why we came here to the Diamond Bakery. Oh, very cool. Well, what kind of pretzels do you make here? Oh, we make all kinds. So, we have our classic Philly pretzels.
Mhm. And we have our cinnamon and sugar Lil' Alby's. Those are our pretzel bites. And then we have our classic pretzel bites, and we also make a cookie INFUSED PRETZEL. WHAT? WELL, THEY ALL LOOK SO TASTY. THANK YOU. Especially one. Do you guys want to try one? OH, YEAH. ALL RIGHT. I'M SO EXCITED. Here you go. Oh, thank you. Check it out, Mika. Yeah. What does it look like? Look, LOOKS LIKE MY GLASSES. AND IF YOU TURN IT TO ITS SIDE, it looks like THE NUMBER EIGHT.
COOL. YEAH. And if you keep it sideways like this, you put it on Mika's Yeah, looks like your bow tie. That's true. Well, shall we try it? Yeah, let's do it. Okay. I win. That's okay. That's so yummy. It is so yummy and salty. Hey, do you guys want to learn how to actually make these pretzels? Yeah. Well, we got to get you a couple of aprons. Come on back to the bakery. All right, welcome to the bakery. So, now that we've got our aprons on and we've washed our hands, it's time to start MIXING THE DOUGH.
[screaming] I'M SO EXCITED. WHAT'S THIS? This is a giant mixer. You can mix hundreds of pounds of dough in there. And this is the biggest ONE I'VE EVER SEEN. YEAH, me too. How do we get started? So, the first thing we need is flour and I'm talking about a lot of flour. How much flour? Well, this is a 50-lb bag. Could you help me LIFT IT? YEAH, HE'S [screaming] GOT IT. HE'S STRONG. THIS IS A LOT OF FLOUR.
HEAVY? UH, YEAH. I can barely lift it. Well, now you just pour it right into the mixer. The whole thing? Oh, yeah. Oh, looks like we need to open it. Oh, yeah. I'll use this knife up here. And remember, only grown-ups can use knives. Yeah. Okay, careful with the knife. Okay, there we go. All right. Is that enough? I think so. Ready? WOW! YEAH! IT LOOKS LIKE SNOW. WOW! It's so light and fluffy. Oh, good job.
You got to make sure you shake out the rest. Oh, YOU WANT TO SHAKE IT? SHAKE IT. THERE YOU GO. SHAKE, SHAKE, SHAKE. All right, great job. So, now that we have the flour in, we've got the rest of our dry ingredients over here. Oh. So, first we're going to put in some salt. Oh. Ooh, salt. Have you ever had salt before? IT'S SO SALTY. THAT'S RIGHT. You want to put it in, Mika? Sure. Okay. go. Wow! Awesome. Great job. Now we need a little bit of the malt barley. Ooh, malt barley. What's this for? That's like sugar. It adds to the sweetness of the pretzel.
Oh, yeah. You can pour that in. Aw, thanks, Mika. Okay, here we go. Malt barley. Wow! Really good job. Really good job on the malt barley. Now, we don't want flat pretzels. We want fluffy, fluffy pretzels. So, we need to put a little yeast in the mix. Yeast? Yeah. Okay, ready? We'll do it together? Sure. Okay. 3 2 1 Yeah! There we go. Really nice. Now, we want the pretzels to be a little buttery, too. So, Oh, yeah. Throw in the butter. Here, you do this one. Oh, yeah. Thank you. Oh, watch. Okay, here we go. BYE, BUTTER. YEAH! WOW, this is fun.
Yeah. Wow, Mika, you got to come make pretzels with me more often. LOVE TO. YOU, TOO, WHIFFY. OH, REALLY? NOW, it's time for a little milk in the pretzels. You can pour the whole jug in. WOW! WOW, BOTH OF THEM? YEAH. WOW, THAT'S A lot of milk. One, two. Two jugs. All right, here we go. WOW! YEAH! WOOHOO! LOOK AT ALL OF THIS MILK. YEAH! WOAH! That's a lot of milk. Yeah, hey, what if this was a giant bowl of cereal?
Yum! But instead it's a giant bowl of dry ingredients and milk. AND WE'LL PUT IN A LITTLE extra milk Oh! measure. Okay. And now the last thing we need is water. Woah! So here's a big bucket of water. POUR THAT INTO THE DOUGH. WOAH! THAT'S HEAVY. HERE WE GO. LOOK AT THAT. NICE. IT'S LIKE A WATERFALL. ALL RIGHT. WOW. All of our ingredients are in the dough and now it's time to mix it up. Who wants to hit the button? Oh, CAN I DO IT?
YEAH. ALL RIGHT. I'M READY. ALL RIGHT, JUST HIT THIS button right here. Okay, you count down with me? All right, ready? Yeah. Three, two, ONE. Now we let the dough rise right here. Uh-huh. And while it's rising, doesn't it feel really nice? Yeah, it's really squishy and kind of soft. Yeah, kind of feels like a waterbed for my hands. Ooh. It does FEEL LIKE A WATERBED. WOAH! WOW. WOAH! WOAH. Now we want to separate the dough into pieces to make pretzels.
Okay, how do we do that? So rip off a piece. Okay, how big? About this size? oz. Okay. Perfect. Oh, that's a perfect one. Wow. Okay, so the size of a baseball? Yeah, there you go. Like a baseball size. Is mine too big? That's perfect. Really? Do you like your pretzels big? Yeah. You can TO A NICE BIG PRETZEL. AND NOW PUT YOUR PRETZEL ball right here and we'll let it rise. That's fun. Then you let it rise. How long do you let it rise for?
Um probably enough time for a dance break. Oh, yeah. LET'S DO IT. WOO! YEAH. PRETZEL, PRETZEL. Pretzel rise. [screaming] YOU KNOW WHAT PRETZELS DO? WHAT? THEY TWIST. OH! YEAH, THAT'S THE PRETZEL RISE. THAT'S THE pretzel twist. Yeah. Are they rising yet? Oh, yeah. Oh, looks like they have. You'll see they'll start to become really smooth and then I think it's time. Should we start? Yes. Well, take your pretzel ball and we're going to start to roll it into a like a snake.
OH. LOOK AT THIS. SEE THIS? YEAH. OKAY. You want to roll it out. Roll it out so it's a long snake. Now that it's in a rope, watch this. Twist. Drop. Boom. THERE'S YOUR SNAPPY PRETZEL. WAIT, WHAT? YEAH, can you guys try it? Okay. Twist. Drop. Boom. TWIST. DROP. MY BOOM DOESN'T LOOK LIKE YOUR BOOM. OH, MAYBE I NEED TO SLOW IT DOWN for a little bit. Yeah. All right. Could you?
Here we go. I'll get you SOME NEW ROPES. OH, OKAY. OH, PERFECT. Here's a rope for you. Ooh, thank you. And here's a rope for you. Awesome. Thank you. I've got one, too. Okay. All right. Now Okay. Roll it out. Okay. Make the tips really pointy at the tip, like this. Maybe that was our issue. We didn't do that last time. Okay. That's pro level. Now the secret. up with your hands Okay. and wrap it like this so it twists.
Perfect twist, Flippy. Thank you. Once it twists, you bring it down and you've got it. Wow, THAT'S A BIG PRETZEL. YOURS LOOKS LIKE a traditional pretzel. Yeah, how do I make it look like yours? Look at that pretzel. Now, you take it Look at that. That looks like what we call a Bavarian pretzel. Bavarian? But a Philly pretzel, you take these points, you put them together, and you smoosh it down like this. Oh, yeah. And you can see it's a HUGE SHAPPY PRETZEL.
LIKE THE KIND THAT LOOK LIKE MY GLASSES. YEAH, THAT LOOKS REALLY GOOD, FLIPPY. Or your bow tie. Or the number eight. Remember? Here's another rope. You can try it again. Okay, thank you. Here's this one for you, Shappy. That one's complete. Thanks, Flippy. That one's amazing. Yeah, this is awesome. All right. NOW THAT YOUR ROPES ARE LONG ENOUGH, twist them up. Okay. Ready? I think so. You go first this time.
Okay, so two, three, twist. Perfect twist. Are you sure? Now grab that with one hand, shape your pretzel like a Shappy pretzel, and bring this TO THERE. OH. BOOM. [screaming] HEY, LOOK IT. SHAPPY PRETZEL. YEAH, GOOD JOB. Thank you. All right, it's time for these pretzels to take a bath. TAKE A BATH? WHAT? WHY? THAT'S RIGHT. YOU HAVE TO DIP the pretzels into a baking soda bath, and that's what makes the pretzels really shiny and brown, and that's what gives THEM THEIR FLAVOR. SO TAKE A FEW PRETZELS.
Can I do this one? Yeah. Okay, here we go. All right, enjoy your bath. Definitely the most fun BATH TIME I'VE HAD. ALL RIGHT, NOW IT'S TIME to take them out. Take them out nice and carefully, shake off the water, and put them back on the tray. They don't need a towel to dry off? These pretzels air dry. And in Philly, our pretzels touch, like that. Oh, so squish them together like this? It's like THEY'RE HOLDING HANDS. AW, all these pretzel friends.
All right, the last thing we have to do before we put these pretzels in the oven is to salt them. OOH. GOT TO HAVE SOME PRETZEL SALT ON YOUR PRETZELS. YEAH. SO, STICK YOUR hand in and just pinch it all over the pretzels. Oh, it looks like snow. Yeah. Woah, nice. Woo. It's raining salt. Yeah. I got to say, that is the perfect amount of salt on a SOFT PRETZEL. REALLY? YEAH. I THINK THESE ARE ready to go in the oven.
All right, let's do it. Here we go. You do the honor. Oh, why thank YOU. OH. YEAH, MIKA. WOW. SO HOT HERE. YOU THE oven is huge. Okay. All right, pretzels. Enjoy the oven. There we go. All right, now we close up the oven. Okay, LIKE THIS? BYE-BYE, PRETZELS. AND HIT THAT BUTTON. YOU WANT TO HIT THE BUTTON? SURE. WOAH. NOW IT'S TIME FOR THE PRETZELS TO BAKE. OH, HOW LONG DO THEY HAVE TO BAKE? About 15 minutes.
All right, time to be patient. I think they're ready. Really? Yes. Oh, I was hoping you were going to say that. ALL RIGHT. OOH, THEY LOOK DELICIOUS. So hot. Careful. Let's bring them over here. Okay. Look at that. Do you think these are ready now? I think these are ready. Are you guys still hungry? Uh, I could eat a little right now. Oh, yeah. Can't ever say no to a pretzel. These are nice and hot. WOO! THANK YOU. WOO! CAN I HAVE THIS ONE?
OH, YEAH. All right. Cheers again. Cheers. [clears throat] Yum. Now, that is a tasty pretzel. Yeah, it's so good. That's a Shappy pretzel, all right. Yeah, we did a great job. You really did. You guys make some great pretzels. Yeah, but there's so many more pretzels. Yeah. guys still hungry? No, not to eat all these pretzels. I don't even know if I'll be able to FINISH THIS ONE. MAYBE WE COULD GIVE all these to our customers. That's a great idea.
Oh, yeah. Like, we could run a business. That's right. You know with the pop-up shop, we always have two Shappy pretzel members there. Maybe that could be YOU TWO. REALLY? WE CAN DO THAT? YOU TRUST US? OH, YEAH. TAKE these pretzels and go to GO HAVE A BLAST. OH, THANK YOU. And thanks for helping us make these pretzels. Thank you guys for helping me make these pretzels. Awesome. That was SO MUCH FUN. WOO! WELL, we should probably go to the pop-up shop, right? So we can sell them.
All right. HAVE SO MUCH FUN. ALL RIGHT. THANK YOU. guys for coming. All right. PRETZELS. HEY, MIKA. HI. Are you hungry for a pretzel? Yeah. Two pretzels? Okay, coming right up. What is your name? Alby. Alby? And how do you spell it? E. Alby. Two pretzels, please, Flippy. Okay. Alby. all right. Here's one pretzel. And a hat, please. Okay, two pretzels and a hat. And here you go. Are you sure you don't want three pretzels? They're really good.
Okay, three pretzels? Yeah. What about four? YEAH? OKAY, THERE WE GO. Alby's hungry. Five, maybe have some family members? Yeah? Okay, five pretzels. All right, here you go, Alby. Have a good day. All right, ENJOY THE PRETZELS. WE DID IT, MIKA. YEAH, THAT WAS SO much fun. Yeah, I love making pretzels with you. Aw, and I love making pretzels with you. I really enjoyed playing with that dough and beating on it like a drum. pretty cool that all those ingredients made big, heavy dough for pretzels.
Yeah, and then you roll it out and then twist it to make the pretzel shape. You're really good at the twist. Stop. Well, this is the end of this video, but if you want to watch more of my videos, all you have to do is search for my name. Will you spell my name with us? Ready? B L I P I Blippi, good job. Nice. Hey, will you spell my name with us? Cool. M E K A H MIKA, good job. All right, see you again. Bye. Bye. [screaming] Hey, it's me, Blippi, and today I'm at Schakolad in Leavenworth, Washington. And today, since you and I ate our vegetables, we going to make some chocolate and caramel. I am so excited.
Let's go. HEY, WHO ARE YOU? HEY, BLIPPI. MY NAME'S ANDREW. Welcome to Schakolad. Nice to meet you. What do you have here? We have all sorts of truffles and bonbons, all handmade right on site. Wow. They look so tasty. Look at that. Oh, I just want to eat them all up. Woah. What do you say, Blippi? You want to make some chocolates today? Yeah. Let's go. Woah. All of these candies look so yummy. Hey, and did you notice how all of these have different shapes? Yeah, let's check them out. Woah, do you see this one? What
shape is that? Yeah. Look at it closer. Yeah, that is a square. Yeah, and it's really cool how all of these have different fillings on the inside. Woah, look at this swirl. Wow. Yeah, what shape is this? Yeah, it's a circle. Perfect. Good job. Woah. Woah, the sign of love. Oh, so cute. What shape is this? Yeah, it's a heart. Woah. Woah, and these are really cool looking. Wow. Yeah, it's not a normal shape. This is a unique shape.
Yeah, and this thing Yeah, this thing is unique to every single one. Yeah, this is a leaf. Yeah, every leaf has different veins and different structures, and every single one looks a little bit different from each other. Woah, look at these. These even have little pieces of gold on them. Wow. Yeah, what shape is this? Yeah, it's another leaf. It's from a different type of tree, I'm sure. Hm. Well, they all look so yummy, but I can't eat them yet. We have some more learning to do. Yeah.
Woah, check it out. Here's the kitchen. Yeah, I am so excited to make some chocolate. Okay, first thing I need to do is put on an apron. Oh, yeah. This is worn to make sure that your clothes do not get dirty. Sticky. How do I look? Yeah, I look ready. Woah, not ready yet because we need to wash our hands. All right, it is very important to wash your hands if you're going to work with food, make candy. Yeah. Perfect. You have to scrub them. Get underneath the nails. Okay, now we get to rinse it off. All that soap.
Woah, yeah. You're nice and clean. Perfect. All right. Here we go. All right. Woah, hey, look at who that is. Who are you? Hi, I'm Princess Sparkle. Oh, nice to meet you. What are you doing right here? Well, today we'll be we're making some caramel. Ooh, caramel. I love caramel. Have you ever had caramel before? Yeah, it's so yummy. Will you show us? Sure thing. Let's go ahead and make some.
Wow, THIS CARAMEL LOOKS SO YUMMY. SO, the caramel cooled in the caramel frame and then we cut a square or rectangle out of it and now we're left with this. So, what I'm going to do is put on some blue gloves. There's one. And then, here's two. Two blue gloves. And then, we're going to use this guitar cutter. Yeah, to mark the caramel. So, we're going to line it up just like this. Push down slightly. There we go. What I'm trying to do here is mark these lines. Yeah, just like that. So, then I know where to cut later, okay? So, how does that look? That looks pretty good.
All right. Let's turn the caramel. And then, let's do a cross cut. Awesome. Yeah, perfect. Look. Wow, do you see all the miniature squares in it? That is a lot of caramel. And now, one of my favorite parts, we get to put chocolate on them. Wow, I love chocolate and I love caramel. So, what we're going to do is take these caramel pieces and dip them in chocolate and then sprinkle some sea salt on top. Yum. Okay, set that down right there. Take the fork. Let's grab this piece. First, you need to dip the fork in the chocolate. Yeah, here we go.
We have a little chocolate right there. Put the caramel, dip it in and then you start tapping. Yeah. Wow, that looks so good. All right, little bit more. Hey, you don't want too much chocolate on that or else it'll be a goofy mess. So, put it down just like that. Not the best, but not too bad for my first one. And then let's sprinkle some salt right on top. Yeah, perfect. All right, let's try another one. That was fun.
Wow, how do those look? I think THEY LOOK YUMMY. ALL RIGHT, FOODIE. GO AHEAD AND add your favorite toppings. All right. I am so excited. So, Karissa made us some chocolate bar molds. Yeah, with some dark chocolate. That looks so yummy. And then, we going to use some of these toppings to sprinkle on top, put it on the inside, and then when it cools, we going to eat them. Okay, first let's uh make a healthy one, okay? So, how about let's take some of these almonds.
Hey, and then we have some cherries right here. Oh, this is fun. It's like decorating. Like decorating with food. And then, how about some pistachios. Yeah. Pistachios is another type of nut. Yeah, that one looks like a yummy and pretty healthy chocolate bar with nuts and fruit. All right. Okay, how about another one? This one, let's uh Yeah, I think we should have some marshmallows. I love marshmallows.
Okay, now we can use some peanut butter chips and sprinkle them on top. Yum, this is going to be so yummy. All right, and then let's use a little bit of pretzels. Wow, this is so much fun. All right, there we go. And one more. Perfect. And then, let's do a couple banana chips. Have you ever had a banana before? Yeah, banana is a type of fruit. Yeah, they're pretty yummy. And banana chips are really yummy, too. All right, that one looks good. So, let's do the last one. And let's have some fun and put some colorful sprinkles on it. All right, here we go.
Okay, now we're going to need to put it in the fridge to cool down. There we go. Yeah. Wow, that was so much fun decorating those chocolate bars with you. Well, now we need to wait some time to let the chocolate cool. Hmm. What do we do? Okay, I think that's enough time. So, let's go get the chocolate bars. Wow. Look at them. Wow. Okay, now let me knock them out. All right. So, here we go. Wow, look at them. They're perfect. All right. Here is the first one.
Wow. It looks so yummy. And then here is the second one. [screaming] Yeah. Wow. This is so much fun. Oh, no. I broke it. That's okay. It's still going to taste just as good. I am so excited to eat these. Yeah. Wow. Check it out. Yeah, we did such a good job. Wow, check out this room. Looks like they have a lot of boxes in here with some ribbons, ooh, a bunch of stickers. Wow. Oh, hey, look at who it is. Hey, who are you two? I'm Tilly. I'm Molly. Oh, nice to meet you, two. What are you two doing?
We're boxing up some chocolates. Ooh, can I see? Sure. Did you see how they put the rest of the chocolates in the base? And now they're putting the tops on. Check it out. And you see what they're doing now? Yeah, now that the boxes are fully enclosed, now they're tying ribbons all around it to make it look pretty. Hey, did such a great job boxing up this box of chocolates. Do you like it? It's so yummy. But hey, this is the end of this video. But if you want to watch more of my videos, all you have to do is search for my name. Will you spell my name with me?
B L I P I, Flippy. Good job. All right, now it's time to eat some chocolates. B L I P I, yeah. So much fun. B L I P I, yeah. Flippy.
