(crowd chattering) (dramatic somber music) It's all about the business. (dramatic music continues) Well, can Tony D'Angelo be the one to finally defeat Oba Femi? Is the belief back in the family (crowd cheering) 'cause it will be The Ruler, first The Don, for the North American Championship. (dramatic music continues) (crowd chattering) (dramatic music) (crowd exclaiming)
Hoo. Hoo, hoo, hoo! (dramatic music continues) Hoo. He said it once, he said it 100 times. Oba Femi has said that Tony D'Angelo is broken. Yeah, and the thing is, I wonder if it's true. The thing is, he looked very confident. Tony D looked very confident walking down the aisle, but you know what Mike Tyson said?
"Until a man get hit, that is the plan. After that, it all goes out the window." We're gonna find out a whole lot about Tony D tonight. Check out this man, this beast, Oba Femi. The longest-reigning North American Champion, a prediction that you made, Booker, the night he captured it. Right now, let's go to our ring announcer, Mike Rome, with our championship introductions. (bell dinging) The following contest scheduled for one fall is for the NXT North American Championship!
(crowd cheering) Introducing the challenger, from Chicago, Illinois, weighing in at 240 pounds, representing the D'Angelo family, The Don of NXT, Tony D'Angelo! (crowd cheering) And his opponent, from Lagos, Nigeria, weighing in at 310 pounds, he is the NXT North American Champion, Oba Femi! (crowd cheering) He has successfully defended the title 10 times. No one, as you just saw, has held that title longer than Oba Femi, not Wesley, who we saw earlier tonight, or Carmelo Hayes.
(scene swooshing) (crowd chattering) Do you feel that Don believes himself once again as we get ready to start this North American Championship match? I think we're gonna find out very quickly, Vic, but I've grown to learn that it's those one time that you try to conquer that mountain and you get that one guy that you carry. There he goes. That might be the case here in this matchup, but right there, Tony D's looking good. Look at The Don right now. We go back to some of the training we've seen him do, getting in there, getting the body back.
Oh. See that? Sticking a move. Sticking a move didn't work that time. Got caught watching the paint dry. Well, I think the family, especially Rizzo, has- Oh, man. Not feeling like The Don again, but as you said earlier, everyone has a plan until you get punched in the mouth. And Oba Femi very quickly has turned this matchup around. Into the cover, first one of the matchup and a kick out. Both went face to face on Miz TV last week. It was The Don who some said took a calculated walk out of the ring. (crowd chanting) Others say he's fearful of the North American Champion.
You know, you better have a plan when you step into a situation like this because I always say preparation is the only luck you're ever gonna have, and this may be the last shot for Tony D if he didn't cash in tonight. Let's go, Oba. Very loud, split 50/50, sold-out crowd here in St. Louis. There you go, fight him. You got him. Keep going, keep going. Come on, Tony, huh? Let's go! (Tony thuds) Come on and we can stop it now, Tony. Let's go. Look, we know that Tony D'Angelo's a former Tag Team Champion, a former Heritage Cup Champion.
The North American title is something that he has chased for some time. Go back to No Mercy, Book. (crowd clapping) The Don injured his ankle in that matchup. He was still able to kick out of not one, but two Oba powerbombs, something no one, no one else has done. That's why I believe he has a bit more tonight. I take nothing away from Tony D. He's definitely a guy that I touted to be one of the best here in NXT, but this guy, The Ruler, Oba Femi, this is a guy that stepped his game up to a total nother level.
Right now, he's showing it, Vic. He's showing it. Another take down of D'Angelo by Oba Femi. Look, I wanna bring this to you, Book. I mean, you had a two-time Hall of Fame career. Did you ever doubt yourself during your career? I mean, coming off injury, I mean, stepping in the championship box like this right here, you have those butterflies that you have to get to line up and fly straight. Of course I have. And the family on the outside, The Underboss. Rizzo, Luca Crusifino right now cheering on Tony D'Angelo, and The Don might have been able to weather that storm
early on and right to the massive chest of Oba Femi, flying through the air, got caught. Oh. And Oba just planting The Don, spine-first. Can The Don get back? North American title on the line. (crowd cheering) (crowd clapping) Back live on NXT, the North American Championship is on the line. Oba Femi, the Champion, the Challenger, Tony D'Angelo. It is The Ruler versus The Don and the back has been the focus of Oba Femi throughout the break, and here's why, 'cause right before the commercial break, the hardest part of the ring where- Let's go, Oba.
That was magic calculator right there. That little steel right there goes down the ring right there. I'm gonna tell ya, Oba Femi's trying to, not just trying to beat Tony D, he's trying to hurt him, Vic. He said he is a broken man. Tony D'Angelo's done so much to try to fight back to gain his confidence back. He's had the family by his side, but the family is not doing the fighting right now. It's only Tony D'Angelo and Oba Femi has been taking it to the dime. Could be looking to set up for a Fall from Grace Power Drop, but is Don trying to hoist up.
Oh, wow! And somehow is able to. But when we talk about the longevity of Oba Femi, he has been able to get it done at every occasion. (crowd chattering) What are doing? What you doing? The Underboss doing what the Underboss does, what he thinks is best for The Don, but The Don wants to fight.
He wants to win. He wants to crown himself the North American Champion and The Don now starting to fight back. Yes, indeed. I was gonna say hard will, the determination there for a second, and then look like shenanigans was gonna come into play. I think he was looking for that spinebuster. His back gave out again though. Whoa! They both went up and over. Oh! And I don't know if you agree with me or not, but it looked like D'Angelo's trying to hoist up Oba Femi for a spinebuster and his back gave out.
We wanna see a fight, Don. That shot outside, Vic. NXT, NXT, NXT. Right along that steel maybe. Have Tony D down. Oh. Oh, God. That was a shot. (crowd cheering) Hey. Back yourself up. You back yourself up. One more time. Oh! (crowd exclaiming) Get your shot in the ring, Oba, let's go!
Hey, don't forget that, come on, Oba. (all chattering) An inadvertent by Oba Femi, but (crowd chattering) The Don just saw Rizzo get taken out, and The Don, look at his eyes. He's got the eye of the tiger. Oh. The Don is coming unleashed. Here we go, Vic. The fight just broke out. This is it right here, Vic. Rizzo, who has been the one to talk to Tony D'Angelo, who has gotten him to believe in himself again, what he just witnessed was just the fuse the lit of combustible element inside Tony D'Angelo.
You gotta be kidding me! That motivating factor, Vic, seen The Rizz go down. (crowd chattering) But he's gotta get Oba back into the ring, lies D'Angelo. Nasty landing, but big spear! Wow. For the title. That'd be it. One, two, three. (hand pounding) Oh. Come on! (yelling) That was a half second. I'm just looking through The Don right there in the stats. Oh! He was almost in disbelief. One, two. Oh! Inside shoulder just getting up, but what a massive uppercut by Oba.
Oba, Oba, Oba. Oba, who when he arrived, talked about a prophecy that he'd be the most dominant superstar in NXT. Here we go. It's come true. Here we go, Tony D. Big boots! Oh, God, man. And another massive chokeslam to The Don. And for The Ruler, just like. (crowd exclaiming) Whoa. I though that was it. No way. (crowd chattering and clapping) (hand pounding) (Tony thuds) Right back to the back of The Don, D'Angelo able to get the left shoulder up.
The family on the opposite side of the ring jumped to their feet just like this sold-out crowd here in St. Louis. NXT North American title on the line. Obo Femi the champion, the undefeated champion. I respect Tony D wanting to win this thing fair and square, but if you can take a shortcut, you wanna take it, man. You wanna take it. Now we're going somewhere. (wrestler thudding) (crowd exclaiming) Where is D'Angelo getting the strength from? That's the heart. That's the heart, will, and determination I was talking about. (wrestlers thudding) Digging deep, Vic.
We saw The Don try to get this done earlier in the matchup. He couldn't have hoist up Oba Femi, but I believe you were right, Booker. When he saw Rizzo get inadvertently hit, it kind of lit a fuse inside of him. Hoo. (Underboss vocalizing) Champion trying anything he can do to break the hold of D'Angelo, and now here's the power back on display? Oh. Is it over, huh? Oba's spent, Vic, he's spent. Oba's being pushed to limits. We've never seen Oba be pushed to. Take another look, just tossing Tony D'Angelo.
It took a lot out of him, though, Vic. This is awesome. Oh! This is for the NXT North American title and you said it earlier, Booker. There may not be more chances for The Don left after tonight. He may not want another shot after this, Vic. No, let him go. (Oba thudding) D'Angelo getting some separation. There you see Luca.
You see The Underboss. You see Rizzo shouting to The Don who just got de-cleated. What a shot. And right now, you hear the official saying, "Get it back in the ring." Whoa. Hey, hey, hey, hey, hey, hey, hey. Get out, Vic. Pack it up. (crowd chattering) Come on, give it a little time, Oba, let's go. (crowd chattering continues) Booker. Oba went for the powerbomb. Counter! Spinebuster! But The Don's gotta get Oma Femi back in the ring.
He can't win the title out here. (crowd chanting) Stay on the gas. The Don knows it. Stay on the gas. Oba turning around and Rod Simmons just screamed out, "Damn." For the title. (hand pounding) (crowd exclaiming) You gotta be kidding me. I mean. (crowd chattering) I mean, Book. NXT, NXT, NXT. If there's any time- I mean, Book, what does he do now? Because if you look at The Don, is he broken? What else does he have to do? He's looking at the family and there's Oba. How in the hell did The Ruler get back to his feet?
Hoisted up D'Angelo. D'Angelo up and over. Shoulders down. He did it! Whoa! The Don did it! (crowd cheering) (upbeat music) Here is your winner, and the new NXT North American Champion, The Don of NXT, Tony D'Angelo! He's not broken, he's whole, and he's the new North American Champion. (dramatic music) Right here, Book, right in front of us, right at our feet. Wow. The Don knew he had to get Oba back into the ring. That was the second spinebuster, and give the champion credit, was able to kick out, was able to continue to fight, and just when we all thought there was nothing left for Tony D'Angelo,
that he indeed was a broken man like Oba had said, Tony D'Angelo, out of nowhere, was not only able to conquer the unconquerable, Tony D'Angelo was able to crown himself the new North American Champion.
