And for our final story today, let's shift our focus to Uganda. The chief of defense forces, General Muhoozi Kainerugaba, is once again making headlines for all the wrong reasons. He has sparked a fresh controversy, and this time it involves American pop star Beyoncé. Kainerugaba stated that he wants the global music icon and referred to her as his wife. Now, he went on to challenge her husband and American rapper Jay-Z to a fight, threatening him to surrender his wife in a series of tweets that have now been deleted.
It doesn't end there. The son of Ugandan President Yoweri Museveni went on to boast about his wealth. He said that uh thousands of Ankole cows and that Jay-Z is poor. Kainerugaba also expressed his intent to take the matter to the UN. Now, this is not the first time that the Ugandan army general expressed his love for Beyoncé. His admiration posts have gone on for years. In March of 2025, Kainerugaba sought an apology from Jay-Z, adding, and I quote, "Jay-Z can do whatever he wants to me, but I'm taking Beyoncé." Now, back then, he challenged the American rapper to a duel.
Now, he made similar posts in 2024. Beyoncé and Jay-Z are one of the most influential couples in the entertainment industry, and they've been married since April of 2008. They have three children together. Neither of the stars have responded to the Ugandan general's remarks. Now, if you think that Kainerugaba is deeply in love, or rather obsessed, only with Beyoncé, then hold on. There's more to it. In 2022, the Ugandan general proposed marrying Italian Prime Minister Georgia Meloni. He even offered to pay a 100 and collar cows as a bride price and warned of capturing Rome.
Kainerugaba's social media posts may come across as a source of entertainment to many. But they have a highly misogynistic tone. Now, this is made tweets about how he deliberately steers clear of services claiming the presence of beautiful woman distract him from spiritual focus. At one point, he also went on to declare that trousers were for men and he ordered female soldiers in the Ugandan forces to wear skirts during parades warning the commanders who disobeyed the directive that they would face action.
Kainerugaba's posts have drawn flak from his father and they have also forced the Ugandan government to apologize to other nations. He triggered a diplomatic dispute between Uganda and Kenya in 2022. He claimed that Uganda's military could capture Nairobi within 2 weeks. The Ugandan government distanced itself from the comments. Now, Museveni publicly apologized and rebuked Kainerugaba for meddling in foreign affairs.
He was also temporarily removed from his position. But bringing embarrassment to the entire nation and forcing the president to apologize publicly has not deterred Kainerugaba. He continues to make outrageous remarks on social media treating it as his personal diary. The world moves fast. Power shifts, unexpected developments, changing alliances. Everyday brings a new headline. But headlines are only the beginning Because behind every story, there is context. There are consequences and there are questions worth asking. Find the answers. Understand the story. Take on the world.
