How to Sound Deadening and Insulate a T25 Campervan for a Quieter Ride

This video documents the process of sound deadening and insulating a T25 campervan. The owner installs sound deadening mats, insulation, and four-way stretch carpet to reduce noise and improve thermal efficiency. They also apply wax oil to prevent rust. The project aims to create a comfortable and quiet living space inside the van.

SOUND DEADENING & INSULATING OUR T25 CAMPERVAN | Van Renovation. | Transcript:

well good morning everyone this weekend is going to be huge for van have a look you have got a lot of deliveries we've got four way stretch carpet we've got insulation sound deadening all the fun stuff so there's got almost finished all of their painting inside which is the rush treatment the other thing left is the back door did a great job and the cab as well so why are we doing today mr. Scott it's the plan of action so the first thing is it's going to finish the rubber seals off put the inner stroke in properly and then gonna get a water and canning and a porter of the windows one at a time and then just feel on the inside see if I've got any leaks and then after that I can start preparing

the back door a bit more paint finish that off sound dead and get some insulation on and just yeah just do a bit of time and just see how it goes sweet in okay so this is sound deadening with this on the inside of you if you listen to this noise remember that noise it won't sound like that when this is on and what you do is so mark out what I'm gonna have so that one's gonna go there so I've cut it with the scissors Caesar we've cut sticky back so it sticks right on and then I got a cut like this little hole out here for the thing okay so I've sound dead in the door pretty well actually I may just get my hands in there scraped on the arms a little bit but we're good a lot of bubs - you sounded in the door

right so the next thing I'm going to do is get some wax oil in the bottom of the door now this prevents Russ so any motion that does get in there and gets down and sort of sits at the bottom the door the wax oil should prevent it from like turning it to rust and rusting the metal so the ones I was really thick you can get like a proper spray bottle and it's like 25 pounds I mean for a spray ball so what I'm going to do is I'm just going to fill it into a cup you have to live basically warm the wax oil up to get this out you know what the people want there's the turtle

okay welcome back ladies and gentlemen to Plato so we're gonna be working on the back door today the back panel and getting that all sound deadened with this insulated and we're gonna carpet the panel which goes on top there's two two layers of insulation so the Sun doesn't it and then the other stuff is like this is sticky back which is out there in the dough stuff dodo pretty good stuff but it's expensive as well so you can get stuff cheaper but I've just been recommended that on so many YouTube channels and Facebook posts so sound didn't don't know Matt and then I've got polyester insulation after that which is like normal insulation but the imposter it shouldn't soak up water so that it's gonna go in after that and

then the wooden panel will go on top and carpet it so I think if we work on this panel in this panel and then we're gonna try and see if we've got enough to do these panels inside here sound doesn't sound deaden instantly so with the sound deadening just quickly basically what you're trying to achieve is get rid of this tin eNOS now I've seen I'm not an expert so you know if you want to follow what I do follow it if you don't don't what I've seen and what I've read some obviously new to this is you can either do it in kind of different ways you could I've seen people could it opens a little squares and put little squares around and I've seen people literally sounded in the whole panel so I don't

know what to do with this so I'm literally gonna scrap half this stick one panel in the middle there one pound will try and get rid of this tin eNOS first and then I stick it in broke already jaysus a very passionate that I rolling jobs a good inmate and it's todo there before what they'd used this of all sort of rap insulation and silver foil and what they've done is to taped it up and around the edges and what happened is when hot air goes cool you know it brings moisture with it so

that's where I was gained trapped behind yeah so with this what happens is you have create like a barrier because it's sticky you know it's stuck now to the metal so there's no air so if there's no air you know it can't get warm and it can't get cold so that's why we're gonna fill this air gap now with my polyester Cookie Monster and then put the board on and realistically what you should do as well as you should create a vapor barrier so you should cover this all in plastic after and then you create like a vapor barrier but I don't have any plastic so plus you know I'm gonna wax oil in the seams down here and that'll basically create barrier if any moisture happens to get in all right time for

some fluffy stuff this morning I got all the old carpet off of this panel this is the one that's gonna go onto the back door and I'm gonna show you what insulation was on that back door when we got it this was all the insulation that back door had and this was just placed like lightly tacked down onto the back panel that was it are we doing this stuff right we're doing this right now it snip oh yeah when it cools down it goes like so to stop this falling down the glue we got with the four-way stretch carpet so look she'll smile girl so trim fix adhesive we're gonna put a little patch so it stays upright and doesn't drop down the surface a bit forgiving you have to get it up no gasps stings I've got an idea I've had to do negative yeah I

place it in up there yeah get it all Reaper fect lift the bomb up a bit Shh all underneath and then just go straight down I know so Ali has a bet right here thank you very much I'm here all week are you okay so now that's is fully insulated this panel is not so listen to oh can we please beauty all right so we're gonna get on with this side now and do exactly the same as we did over there and I'm not gonna waste your time for you it's gonna be done real quick boom sound deadened boom dodo insulation fluffy shits installed yours so it's many hours later and I'm actually I cut this video off now I'm trying to show you what we've been doing Scott's been in slaying around there we're gonna be carpeting all this

hopefully carpeting will be the next video and just put some of this down so when we put the panels back there all flush and they're not gonna Bend and flex then the plates so we're gonna do some more of that doesn't matter what it looks like on the outside so much on the inside he know what I mean it's been a long day right so on that note I got muddy year and we are gonna call this video a day and we're gonna start experimenting with some carpeting there's a lot of insulation left to do - whines do a video running through how we inflated the three layers with sound deadening insulation flash stuff so yes if you have any questions you know please feel free to ask but when you at this Scott does a

lot of research will she love YouTube videos and I will link down all of the stuff that we've used and them any interesting websites useful websites and that you can order some stuff from but yeah it's a process we're getting there and I really hope you enjoyed this progression of video and I will see you in the next one or I'm going to enjoy this one in drama beer we're gonna play with some stretch carpet and you'll see that in the next one there
