large Excel Chiara jumper colossal OMG crab Zilla today on bite size we are going on a culinary expedition in the heart of downtown Colombo in search of Sri Lanka's most succulent seafood we're sampling such a wide selection but we're also going to be showing you how you can eat all of these delicious dishes no matter what your budget is let's go at how fun they are to so sit down and put on your best crap bib as we explore what some would argue as the best seafood of the world has to offer

all right so we're standing outside the Dutch Hospital which is an old colonial building over 400 years old and which was recently refurbished into a shopping center with loads of shops and restaurants including our lunch spot for today the Ministry of crap which is world frames it's been consistently ranked within the top 50 restaurants across Asia and it is specifically known for its Laguna crab which we are going to try today okay guys we're so excited to go inside and taste this amazing food of this really famous chef we actually can't afford this place thankfully Ministry of CAP ever granted us this meal later on we're gonna try a lot outside and find budget expression so stay tuned okay as we made our way

inside we could see the open-plan kitchen where a dozen highly skilled chefs were hard at work cooking up a storm we could see all of the locally caught fresh forms as well as of course the giant Lagoon crabs being prepared and as soon as we sat down licking our lips in anticipation we were served a refreshing iced tea and half a dozen freshly subtle oysters served in an aged soy sauce as well as a drizzle of their secret hot sauce well I that are really good it's interesting because it has the soy and the chili and then the line and you really do taste all the food in two flavors look scared do you Isis Oh briefly oh wow normally I put a dab of Tabasco on it and that's why I like about a chili sauce and that's that's always so it

really brings out the fishiness yaahh met absolutely and it all comes served on a cricket bat yes I caught it okay so we just enjoyed our first dish the delicious oysters served on a cricket bat and they're getting our giant corn ready they're serving it in garlic and chilli and I'm really excited oh well there's one each geez oh my gosh weird thought we were gonna share one oh my goodness gracious Wow I don't even know how this smells amazing I couldn't get into it even though you're in a fancy restaurant and down in the trades you should have found the good stuff gets found the brains EMA sauce a little bit of tails mixed in with a little bit of brains was 12 times 26 naive c'mon when you go to a fancy restaurant

honestly sometimes the best part about fancy restaurant is the bread easily pleased it for those insanely huge prawns we had to make some room for the show a stopping a main course Lagoon crab served in their signature pitch of black peppercorn sauce all of the crab served here are freshly caught and since the local fishermen typically sell their crabs for much higher prices over in Singapore here at Ministry of crab they are fortunate enough to get their hands on some of the best specimens freshly caught that morning the crabs are served with some crunchy greens as well as the renowned local coconut sambal which is made with grated coconut flesh chopped with red onions and chili and it

was finally time to give this monster a taste and luckily I had first dibs on a giant juicy claw oh my god I just fell out like butter ever see the crab cool and you can smell the slice spice of the black pepper sauce so succulent spicy I thought the peppercorn sauce was gonna overpower it but it just worked perfectly what it whatever what a mouthful all right it's now my turn to try this monster crap let's take the claw yes to crack it open yeah well Hall by hiddenness yeah I'm gonna bite down them I'm so good really good soft you can taste that it's actually really thick muscle yeah must've been a really strong crab that works out at the gym every week that's what I'd taste by down on these guns so am heads now grab every

we had no trouble finishing this incredible seafood feast and once we had finished we made our way around the beautiful local temples that you can find just a stone's throw away from Ministry of crowd before we go into this place it's a great way to see some of the local culture and if you'd like to see more about our time in Colombo make sure to head over to our channel and watch our huge Sri Lankan roadtrip series where we show you how to travel this stunning country on just a thousand dollar budgets exploring Colombo in the heat is also a great way to burn off that lunch and with the afternoon rolling in we grab some local ice cream to help cleanse our palates ready for the next onslaught of delicious Sri Lankan

seafood this time we were here at goal face a local hangout spot where not only do you get to enjoy the gorgeous sea breeze but it's also home to a line of street vendors and restaurants that serve up deliciously spicy dishes so let's jump in and see what we can find okay this is gonna be our next dish you guys it's gonna be fish golf mullet and it's freshly come apart here obviously it's gonna be drenched in chili sauce and spring a little a lot of chili flake so if you love seafood and while spicy this is it and on look you made cheese man Wow there's a fish funnel okay is about reform that have a salade thank you very much both these dishes together were under five dollars and so we made

short work of the chilli prawn kabobs how was it Lena you really taste it's me you had the chili shrimp now it's time for the cheating mullet you don't have any cutlery so we're doing it like this five try it with while reason I love the mix of the spices the truly really burning Dollface is also known for its ridiculously cheap crab cakes and it's fish patties and since they are less than $1 apiece we thought we would end this feast with one last taste of this unique cuisine garlic chili grate carrots and then he sprayed it with Simon lemon juice and I need a big dollop of chilli sauce on top so I'm a little bit worried like do I eat the crab I mean the shell is like so crunchy yeah that's fine delete like that oh my gosh
