[JONATHAN RECKFORD] We are in an unprecedented period of change, and really from all directions. And what we're seeing, whether you are a public servant leader, private sector, or social sector, the level of technological change is generational. This is a revolution. [JENNIFER BARRERA] Everybody's a little bit nervous right now. Businesses thrive on certainty. [SITHARA RASHEED] I don't think that it's important that leaders of today need to have all of the answers, but it's important that they ask right questions.
[KEN SHOTTS] Part of the importance of the Stanford Leadership Institute in a forum like today's event is people learning about specifics, learning about particular issues, what is going on right now, how to approach specific problems that they or their organizations may face [CONDOLEEZZA RICE] The international system has evolved into one in which particularly the world of technology, but also the international economy are more competitive, adversarial, decoupling than at any other time. [KEN SHOTTS] Not only do companies need to be more flexible and resilient, but our workforce needs to be more flexible and resilient.
You think you just finished business school, you think you just finished college, you think you just finished the journey of learning? You have just started. [AMIT SERU] Learning means also having the right judgment to fight the uncertainty and be able to still succeed. [MATTEO MAGGIORI] We need a set of leaders that understand that what they're doing is going to have vast impacts and value society and the value for everybody over a long period of time.
[MICHELE GELFAND] That's really in the spirit of Stanford Leadership Institute, is to bring people together. Like today, people from government, from industry, from academia, in a shared space where we can explore issues together. [CONDOLEEZZA RICE] There has never been a more important link between the private sector and national security and the health of the country and the health of American power than at this moment. [RISHI SUNAK] We're living through this incredible moment, and I have the ability, I have agency to shape Our destiny. [SITHARA RASHEED] The leaders that will matter the most are the ones that are willing to say, "Here's what I believe in,
and I'm willing to be accountable to it."
