Becoming a Knight at Medieval Times!?. | Transcript:

B L I B I Yeah. So if you want to shout Libby, it's me, Blippy, and today we're here at Medieval Times in Orlando, Florida. Wo! And look at it. It's a giant castle. Yeah. Wo! We are at medieval times. That was a really long time ago. Like all the way in the 11th century. Whoa. Did you know back in medieval times, people didn't drive in cars? So silly. Hey, have you ever wondered what it was like in medieval times? Yeah, me too. Well, today you and I get to go in the Orlando castle and learn all about it. Yeah. And maybe we can even see a real life knight. That would be so cool. Come on, let's find out.

Wa! Look at it. It's a real life horse. Hello, Mr. Horse. Ah, he's so sweet. Today we're here at the village stable. Yeah, a stable is where the horses get to eat yummy food Yeah. And get all ready and geared up for the tournament. Yeah. Hey, do you know what sound a horse makes? Yeah, that's right. They nay. Nigh. Hey, will you nigh like a horse with me? Okay, awesome. Here we go. Nigh. So silly. Well, this is a really nice horse, but how about you and I go help get the horses all geared up for the tournament. Come on, let's go.

Wa! Look at it. This table has all the gear that we're going to need to get the horses all ready for the tournament. Yeah. And look at this. Whoa. Yeah. This is a brush to help get all the dust and the dirt out of the horse's back. Yeah. This is a body brush. So, it's for the body of the horse. Whoa. And look at these ones right here. He spiky. Yeah. These are brushes for the horse's mane and tail. Yeah, they have longer bristles so that they can get through the hair.

Kind of like the hair on your head. So silly. Wo! And look at this. This is everything we need to put on the horse. We have the saddle pad. Yeah, this saddle pad is really soft and squishy. Woo! Squish, squish, squish, squish. And this goes on the horse first to make sure that the saddle is super comfy. Yeah. Wo. And look at it. This is a really big saddle. The saddle can be kind of heavy. And it goes on the back of the horse so that the knights can ride all around. And it buckles in so it's kind of like a belt for the horse. Woo. Well, we'll just clip that in, get on top, and ride the horse super fast. So silly. Whoa. And this is the last thing that we need to put on top of the horse. This is a comparison. Yeah. And this comparison

is the color green and brown. Yeah. Good job. Yeah. The comparison helps the knight tell one horse and knight from another horse and knight. So they don't all look the same in their metal armor and the white horses. Yeah. So this comparison, this will go over the saddle last. Well, that's everything we need. Now it's time to get ready to get the horse ready for the tournament. Okay, first let's grab a brush. Come on. Hello. Hey, look. This is a really beautiful horse. Hello. His name is Humo. Hi, Humo. First, let's brush Humo's fur. His hair. Horses don't have fur. So silly.

Yeah. Brush, brush, brush all the dust. Brush off all the dust. Yeah. And now that we've cleaned Humo and got all the dust and dirt out of his back, we can put on the saddle pad, the saddle, and the comparison. Let's go. Yeah, we did it. We helped Humo get all dressed up for the tournament. And look, now he's the color green and brown. Yeah. Well, that was so much fun helping Humo get all geared up. But now I think it's time for you and me to get all dressed up for the tournament ourselves. Okay, we're about to go. But I think Humo's done a really good job being a horse. And he's had all of his yummy vegetables and fruit for dinner. So, we're going to give him a sugar cube.

Hello. Good job, Humo. Woo! That tickles. Woo! Humo! You're such a good horsey. Well, now it's time to go get dressed up ourselves. Come on. Hey, it's me, Night Flippy. That's so silly. I'm not a real knight, but today you and I get to learn about what it was like to be a knight a thousand years ago. Wa! That was a really long time ago. Have you ever wondered what it was like to be a knight? H Well, you had to be brave and you had to ride horses. Nay. So silly. And you had to be strong and kind. Whoa. On second thought, it actually is pretty tricky being a real knight. And now it's time to unite, Sir Blippy.

I am so excited because you and I don't only get to learn about knights, but I get to become a knight. But first, I need to complete three knights challenges. Wo! And look at this. This is the first night's challenge. It's called the big rings challenge. Yeah. So, the way to win the big rings challenge is to take a lance, which is like a really long stick, and to put it through two rings in a row, one here and one way down there. If you only get one, you got to do it again until you get both to complete the night's challenge. Yeah, this is going to be so much fun. But first, I need to get some nights gear.

Come on. Wo! Look at this. It's a real life night lance. Wo! And this is really heavy. This is what I'm going to use to try to complete the big rings challenge. Hm. But what's a knight without its trusty steed? And hey, look. This is my trusty horse, Brownie. Hello, Brownie. Hello. Okay, I have my Lance and I have Brownie. So, we're all ready to do the night's challenge. Let's go. Okay, here we go. Ready, brownie? Okay, I'm ready to challenge. Whoa! Uh-oh. I only got one ring. That means that Brownie and I are going to have to try the night's challenge one more time.

Brownie thinks so, too. Okay, let's go. Okay, let's try this again. I think I can do it. Let's go. Wo, that was really hard. I'm getting tired after that night's challenge. But look, we got both of the rings. Thanks, Brownie, for helping me out. Yay! That was so much fun. And now it's time to move on to the second night's challenge. Let's go find out. Come on. [snorts] Whoa, Brownie. Yeah, we completed the first night's challenge. We're really close to becoming a knight. Yeah. Okay, so the second night's challenge is even harder. Needing agility and strength and really good horse riding skills. Yeah. It's called the flag toss.

It's when me and another knight will toss a flag back and forth three times. And if you catch it all three times, then you complete the challenge. Okay, here we go. I'm going to need a little bit of help. So, my friend, Sir David, is going to help me out. Okay, ready, sir David? Ready. Okay, here we go. One, two, three. Yeah, we did it. We caught the flag three times. This is so much fun. Thanks, Brownie.

Nay. [screaming] Yeah. Okay, so all we have left is the third challenge, and it's a really, really tricky one. It's called the night's dress up challenge. I have to get all geared up with all the night clothes in under 10 seconds. Wo! I don't think I'm going to need your help on this one, Brownie. Bye-bye. I'll see you later at the stables. Nay. Okay, I think I'm all ready. Put the time on the clock. Here we go. Wo! This armor is so cool. Yeah, we did it. We did all three of the nights challenges. And now I get to be Night Blippy. Woohoo! I'm so excited that I think you and I should do a victory dance. Okay, here we go.

That was so awesome. Now I get to be a knight. Not so fast, Libby. Oh, hey, Sir David. There's still two more challenges left. Huh? Two more challenges, but we already completed three. I guess two more won't be so hard. So, what are the next two challenges? Well, first you have to learn the night's code. Wa! Do you know what the Knight's Code is? Me neither. Uh, Sir David, what's the Knight's Code? A knight is sworn to valor. Okay, so we need to be really brave. His heart knows only virtue. Okay, so that means hm we'll be really kind. His blade defends the helpless and his might upholds the

weak. H that means you should always help others who need some help and his words speak only truth. Always tell the truth. Those are easy. We can do that. What's the other challenge? Well, the other challenge is the javelin toss. Woah, that sounds like it's going to be really, really hard. But hey, I got all my nice armor and I think we can do it. Yeah. Okay, here we go. Wow, I can't believe we get to meet the queen and start the nighting ceremony. Yeah. Okay, here we go.

I dona Maria Isabella, queen of this castle and ruler of this realm of the blippy once, twice, and thrice as knights of the realm. Yeah, we did it. Good job. Thanks for helping me complete all of the knights challenges. They were really tricky, but we did a really good job. It was so much fun learning all about knights from the 11th century, which was really, really long ago. And it was nice that we learned that knights aren't only strong, but they're kind and they like to help others. Well, that's the end of this video, but if you want to see more of my videos, all you have to do is search for my name. Hey, will you spell my name with

me? Yeah. B L I P I Blippy. Good job. Well, I guess it's Sir Blippy now. So silly. Well, I'll see you real soon. Bye-bye. Hey, it's me, Blippy, and today I'm at Moxy in Santa Barbara, California. Yeah, it's a really cool children's museum of exploration and innovation. So, today you and I are going to learn a lot about science. Yeah. Maybe some stuff like hearing. Yeah. Sound. Wo. And speed. Wo. Slow. fast. This is going to be so much fun. Come on. What are you doing? Come on. Come here.

HELLO. WHOA. CHECK it out. This is a massive guitar. Whoa. Cool. Yeah. Have you ever seen someone play a guitar before? Yeah. Yeah. Guitars are so cool. And when you strum the strings, make some noise. Hey, let's listen. All right, here we go. Tighten this up. Little loud to tune, but it still sounds really cool. All right, now let me move this up. Yeah. And when I move it up, it'll tighten the strings. Wo. Which effectively makes it tighter and shorter. And now listen to how it sounds.

Wa! Higher pitched. Cool. Let's keep exploring. Wa! What's this? Wa! Another guitar right here with more strings. Pretty low. But watch this. I'll put my foot right here to tighten it out. And now listen. Wo, that sounds a lot better. [snorts] And watch this. Wo! I spin this drum and check out the streams. You can actually see the wavelengths basically. Do you see that? Check it out a little closer. Cool. Oh, hey. Who are you? Hi. I'm Simon. Oh, nice to meet you, Simon. I'm Blippy. What are you doing here? Well, this is our sound machine. Sound machine? Doesn't look like a sound

machine. It looks like a table. Well, I got these special little squares with some shapes on them that make some sound for you. Wo! Oh, that sounds like it's a guitar. I just played the guitar over there. I wonder what this does. Wa! Every single shape has a different instrument. And now Simon and I just made a really cool song. All right, let's see. Wo! I think we should have a dance party. Are you up for it? Sure. Come on, let's go.

This is the innovation workshop. Innovation means when you take something old and you make it new or you make it way better. This is going to be so much fun. I wonder what we're going to make. Let's go. Cool. The innovation workshop. Wow. Look at this place. This is fun. Wa! It looks like a car. Wo! Cool. Oh, look right here. Looks like some compact discs. CDs. Yeah. Back in the old days, people used to use these to play music and movies. All right. Woo! Some bubble wrap. Listen to this. Whoa. What else do we have here? Woo! Rubber bands. I like rubber bands. Hope we get to make a craft with some rubber bands. All right, there we go.

Whoa, there's someone right over there. Oh, hey, who are you? Hi, I'm Kevin. Oh, nice to meet you, Kevin. I'm Blippy. What do you do here? Well, I build stuff in the innovation workshop. Wow, cool. Well, I'm very excited. What are we going to build today? Today we're building a rubber band powered car. Wo! Cool. Can I check it out? Definitely. Wo! A rubber band powered car. Yeah, rubber bands in a car. So, this gets propelled by the power of a rubber band.

Exactly. Wo! Cool. How do you do it? So, uh, do you want to see it go first? Oh, yeah. Yeah, let's do that. All right. So, first you pull the rubber band back. Okay. And then I'm going to twist the wheel three times. Ready? Yep. One, two, three. And then we let it go. Wo, that was really cool. Pretty cool, right? All right. I am very excited. Let's do this. First step is to build the body of our car. Okay. We're going to make a little triangle out of these wooden sticks.

Okay. By putting a brass brad through the hole. Okay, there we go. Make a triangle. Look at that. Looks like a triangle. Perfect. in them. We have a body of our car like this one. Okay, that makes sense. Now, we've got to make something to hold our wheels. The wheels are held by an axle. Oh, yeah. Just like normal cars and trucks on the road, they have a piece of metal that goes from one wheel to the other to hold them to the body of the car.

Exactly. So, we're going to use a straw to hold our axle to the body of our car. Oh, cool. So, we've got some straws and then a wooden stick. And we're going to use hot glue to attach it now. Okay. All right. So, before we use hot glue, we got to put on our heat resistant gloves so we don't hurt our fingers. Okay. Wow. Safety first. Hot glue is definitely something that [clears throat] only grown-ups should use cuz this is very, very hot. That's why we're wearing this these gloves. Yeah, even grown-ups have to be careful. Yeah, exactly. Okay, so now we're going to put our wheels on the back here. Okay. So, let's put the big wheels on the back so it goes really fast.

Oh, yeah. Stick it through the hole there. Okay. So, you put a piece of wood between these, right? Okay. Here we go. Perfect. Wow. Nice. All right. Here's one wheel and tire. Here we go. And then Oh, yours looks really good. Looks like half a car. Yeah, it does. Wo. Cool. Wow. And same thing with the front. We're going to put the axle through. Okay. Get through. And for the front, we've got little wheels to put on.

Okay, that makes sense. Big wheels in the back for more traction. And then little wheels in the front for great steering. Wa. Now it definitely looks like a car. Look at this. So, we're just missing the last piece, which is our rubber band to make it go. Oh, all right. So, to wrap the rubber band around, we need a little piece of wood on our back axle. All right, looks good.

Now, are we ready? We're ready to add our rubber band. All right, this has to dry for a little bit. So, when we wait for that to dry, we'll add our rubber bands. All right, let's wait for it to dry. All right. I think it's about dry, right? Yep. Mine's dry. Perfect. All right. Well, how do we do the rubber band? Let's add our rubber band. We're going to attach to the front of our car. Okay. By putting it around that brass brad, the shiny thing.

Ooh. Yeah. There we go. Is yours attached like that? Yep, it is. And now we do that last step where we wrap it around the back. Okay. And I do remember three rotations. That's right. Ready? One, two, three. All right, mine is ready. Are you ready to race? I'm ready to race. All right. Almost. Ready. And on your marks. Uh-oh. Get set, go. All right, let's try that again. All right, here I go. 3 2 1 go.

Oh wow. Well, sometimes we have to embrace our failure. It didn't work today. Yeah. So maybe if we sit here for a while and then we figure out what went wrong, then we can improve on it and then they will go super fast like this one. Let's try that one again. That Wo. And look at this one. Wow. This is still a rubber band powered car. That's still a rubber banded car. It works the same way. All right. I'll try this one. Okay. Ready? Yep. Three, two, one, go. That was worked. Good job. Well, thank you so much for teaching us how to make a rubber band powered car.

Thanks for building with me. All right, I'm going to keep exploring. So, see you later. Have fun. BYE-BYE. WO! Look at this. Did you see this car? Wow. It looks so fast. Yeah. It has wheels and tires. Oo. And it has a green front, a blue middle. Yeah. And then a yellow back. Vroom. Wa. Look in here. Looks like a lot of parts of cars. Hey, why don't we make a car? Wa. All right. Looks like we have a lot of parts to choose from. All right, let's see. Oo, we have some black wheels and tires. Oo, and some green wheels and

tires. Okay, so let's pick a body. Wa! Look, we have some long bodies. We have some short bodies, I think. Yeah, right here. Yeah. And that one had a short body. So, let's pick a long body. And look, my two favorite colors. I wish I could just use both, but I need to pick one. Let's pick orange. Okay. And then we need a front and a back. Let's see here. Why don't I use a blue front? Yeah. Oh, and we can use a blue back. There we go. Doesn't that look good? Yeah. All right. Now, we need to pick our wheels and tires. We have the green big ones and the black small ones. So now we have two black wheels and tires

and two green wheels and tires. All right, let's compare these two. All right, so the one we made is definitely longer. It also has green wheels and tires, while this one doesn't. Hm. Hey, look. Looks like there's a scale. All right, we can weigh them and see what one's heavier. All right, this one says 1B 3 oz. All right, let's see what this one says. 1 lb 5 oz. So, that means this one is heavier. Wow, I wish there was a place where we could race them at. Wo! [screaming] Look. Wow! A racetrack.

Wa! Then look at these. You can raise and lower the track. Come check it out. Wow. See this? Wow, that looks pretty good. All right, maybe we can race them and see which one's faster. Okay, here you go. On your marks. There you go. All right, HERE WE WA! THEY'RE GOING to the top. So then gravity will pull them down. I wonder who's going TO WIN. THERE they go. 3 2 1 go. We did such a great job building the faster car. Yeah. Faster, slower. That's speed. Wo! Cool. Yeah. WOO! NOW WE'RE ON THE ROOF of the museum. Wa! Look at this. Looks like A LOT OF BLACK PIPES, HUH? Nothing inside. Hey, what are these

doing here? Looks like the bottom of some shoes. Wo! We have orange, we have green, we have blue, and we have purple. Hey, I have an idea. Huh? Not really doing anything. Did you hear that? YEAH. LOOK DOWN HERE. W KIND OF SOUNDS like musical instruments. Yeah. When I hit these sandal or parts of a shoe on this pipe, it then pushes air out here and dependent on the height of the tubes, it makes different sounds. All right, let's hear it again.

Yeah. Hey, I have a great idea. Let's hit that baseline and let's make some music with these tubes. WOO! Wasn't that so much fun? Yeah. I love science and it was so much fun learning about sounds with you. Did you hear that? Yeah. And I sure do love dancing. Woo! Yeah. You got some pretty great dance skills yourself. Oh, and you can't forget about the cars. Yeah. Well, this is the end of this video, but if you want to watch more of my videos, all you have to do is search for my name. Will you spell my name with

me? Yeah. B L I P I Blippy. Good job. See you soon. Bye-bye. See you. B L I B D V I L I By
