Well, good morning, adventures. Good morning. And welcome back to Seattle. We're up here because we found a BW camper van that has five times more power and has about 100 times more safety features. And that is because it is less than 1 year old. Yeah, we're about to pick up a 2025 Volkswagen ID Buzz. But this one isn't like the rest. The interior has been converted to a full-on camper van, which means that we'll finally get to experience the quirky charm of a vintage VW bus, but you know, without all the oil leaks, weird smells, and engine fires. Do you guys know that we have lived in vintage VW buses just like this one many, many times in places all over the world. And we really love them
because they are just so adorable. And I guess we really enjoy experiencing what it would have been like camping back in the 1970s. But on the other hand, they can be so loud, so clunky, and some of them are just completely rusted out. Yeah. And we have broken down in them so many times. Actually, every time we've been in one. Yeah. In fact, the last time we took one out in Mexico, we promised ourselves we would never take out another VW bus ever again. But y'all, we are breaking that promise already. Well, sort of. All right, 70s. We're going back to the future, but where on earth are we going to find 1.21 gigawatts?
I think this van might be capable of reaching just about that. All right, our van should be ready to go. Let's go see what the buzz is all about. Oh my gosh, this is the one. This looks so much like the old vans. Like even the two-tone and everything, except pristine. I don't see any rust anywhere. Look at these tires and everything. It is way more adorable than I thought it was going to be. They did a really good job modernizing it, but keeping it really nostalgic and adorable. So, you might be wondering, where the
heck are we? What is this? What is this Volkswagen utopia that we've stumbled upon where there are no shortage of both vintage and brand new Volkswagens? Well, we are picking up our Volkswagen at Peace Vans. They have this epic facility here in Seattle where they take in Volkswagen vans from all throughout the ages. They fix them up, they clean them up, they restore them. They'll even take your old gas powered one or diesel powered one and convert it to electric. And not only that, if you bring them your own ID Buzz, they will kit this out with a camper van in the back because they do not come like this from Volkswagen. And that's awesome because it allows you to live out all your Volkswagen fantasies without breaking
down, blowing gaskets, or blowing up engines because that does happen in those old ones. When we got here, we got to meet the owner and he just took us on a tour of the facility, showed us everything that's going on, gave us a bit of the history and stuff. And they have some of the most adorable little pups running around the shop. And they've been letting us pet them. I feel like they were trying to give us the tour and they would look back and Eric and I were just like cuddling a dog half the time. So, I think from here we are going to hop in the cockpit, try to get a little bit familiar with the vehicle ourselves, and then obviously eventually give you guys a tour of all the awesome bells and whistles on the
inside. I mean, they have kitted this thing out, and it was all completely custom. Yes. But we are making absolutely terrible time right now. So, we need to get on the road, you guys. We have a really cool campsite we're going to a lot of cool things we're going to do, but that means got to get out of here. Well, already this is a very different experience from any VW bus that we've ever been in our lives. You guys can actually hear us talking and we can hear each other talking. That is the weirdest thing. Just how quiet it is. Like I'm just expecting to have to like grind the clutch a little bit to like pump the gas when you start it. There ain't none of that.
And it's not like a blazing inferno in here. There's AC. And not just that, it is a comfortable ride. like smooth on the road and stuff. Getting a little used to the brakes. I'm sorry. Yeah, we're not used to the brakes actually working well. And of course, everything in the cockpit is just as new gets. It's got all the fancy bells and whistles that you'll find in any modern electric vehicle. Gigantic screen that has all kinds of mapping functionality, different things you can control on the car.
It has a little digital display up here behind the steering wheel. I can see everything I'm doing. All the lights are working. And in general, it just looks and feels very futuristic from this point of view. Yes. And you guys, these are the most technically advanced captain's chairs I've ever seen. It's got a massage built in. Oh, yeah. Yeah. This seat is literally massaging my lumbar right now. This is incredible. I went in on that, man. It's funny. Our battery is going to die in like 2 minutes cuz we're just going to use everything.
Yeah, cuz it does more than just massage, y'all. These seats will cool you and heat you. Yeah. So, if it feels like you all of a sudden wet yourself, that's just the cold air blowing on your bum. Am I in a Volkswagen or am I in a spa? Well, if you guys thought seat massagers was impressive, this has airbags. It has actual safety features. I a seat belt that actually works. What? It goes all the way across me, not just a lap belt. Uh the steering wheel feels so nice. It's not falling apart. I can get used to this kind of camping.
This makes uh VW camping a little bit nicer, eh? Yeah, maybe we swore it off a little too quickly. You know, we just didn't take out the right camper. Well, it's an electric vehicle, so we got to get into all that nitty-gritty. This bus is four-wheel drive, like power to all four wheels. It should have about 330ish horsepower versus like the 60 to 90 that you'd have in a regular Volkswagen bus. Yeah, I just realized I'm doing 60 and it's No problem. Yeah, no problems whatsoever. I believe the range on this is supposed to be about 230ish mi, but in reality probably closer to like 190, 200 depending on how you're driving. We have actually driven
quite a few electric vehicles and we have learned our lesson. Always make sure you know the charging station that you were going to stop at. You know what type of charger is going to be there and you know how many different chargers there are because there might not be enough for you. Have no fear y'all. We do know where we're going to charge at and we even have a campsite with charging at it. So, we got double chargers in our future. There is no way we are running out of battery. So, our plan is to head out west. We're going to stop into the town of Olympia and that is where we are going to charge. Then we're going to continue out west and we're going to be like going
around Olympia National Park, but we're going to head all the way to the coast. There should be an incredible campsite that we're going to stay at for the night where I think our little buzz is going to fit right in. Guys, we got our first compliment. We pulled up to the charger and she said, "I like your van." We didn't have the heart to act like it was actually our van. All right, y'all. We are officially charging. All right. I hope. I think in the meantime, let's get some supplies. Yes. Most important thing for when you're going out in the middle of nowhere, got to have coffee. At least most important thing for us.
Well, we made a newbie mistake. Apparently, we set it to only charge 80%. We wanted to get to 100. And while it sat here, it charged an idling fee. We did a $1.29 in charging and uh $14 in idling fees. So, that was a fail. Yep. We'll get it right next time. I swear it didn't ask me if I like wanted to go to 100 or anything. It just stopped on its own. Well, it should be enough charge to get out there. Well, we spent most of the day in traffic and then suddenly we were in this beautiful magical forest land and we are feeling a lot better about this road trip.
It has gotten very pretty. The trees have gotten very large and the road very small and I like it. And we are very close to the ocean and to our campsite for the night. We're about 4 minutes away. We've got about 30% left on the battery. We're doing pretty good. We made it to the campsite and wa is it beautiful. Holy cow. Look at this y'all. This might be one of the most beautiful campsites we've ever stayed at in our entire lives. First off, you are just surrounded by these gigantic trees. It is so majestic and it just smells incredible. You can smell the forest and just like people with their little campfires off in the distance.
Oh my gosh. And then you have the sound of the ocean right there. We're on the edge of the world, y'all. The view from up above. It looks like you're revealing a beautiful painting or something. It's pretty incredible. It's a super unique looking coastline, don't you think? Oh, yeah. I love that the pine trees go basically all the way to it. So, it's like this forest and then the ocean. All right, this is our new home. So, I guess we're going to get all settled in, right? Yes, please. Let's do it. I think it is just about time we gave you a proper tour of our awesome Volkswagen ID Buzz. But first things first, got to get her all opened up. Is
this one sharp looking vehicle or what? I was super skeptical of whether or not it would look kind of frumpy in real life, but it looks like a freaking spaceship, doesn't it? It photographs so well, don't you think? So do you, darling. Oo. First thing you will notice is that yes, it has a pop top. And no, that is not standard. They added that whole freaking contraption. It also doesn't come with any of this camping equipment inside. Normally, it's just a regular old van with rows of seats. Well, come on in, y'all, and check out our new home. So, at first glance, it might look super simple in here, y'all, but they have packed so much functionality into this small space.
First things first, they have the swivel captain's chair, which just gives you so much more space and like an actual living room area back there. Tada! Welcome to my living room now. So, basically everything here slides or opens or moves to reveal all of the things you would need for an epic camping weekend. For example, here's the stove right here. So, they have an induction top, which is great because then you don't burn everything alive in here. And right underneath here, you have a big old drawer for storage and things. And they gave us some coffee.
This one really surprised me. This is the refrigerator. Oh, that's my granola. Are you embarrassed? No, I don't know. Just if you have not tried this, it is so good. But it's a bit like our fridge in Clementine where it's really deep and this little bucket comes out and you have even more storage down in here. Oh, did you want a beer, sir? Yes, I do. As a matter of fact, that's why I made you do the kitchen tour. Yeah, we've got everything in here. We've got dinner for tonight, breakfast for tomorrow, drinks, snacks, all of it. So, we've got the stove and fridge, but where is the sink? Oh, it's right here, y'all. Boom. So, they have a super deep
sink and then they have a little handle that comes out of here and it spins around the little pump and you can wash your hands, do your dishes. It also comes out and you can open this door so you can wash up outside. Yeah. So, it like doubles as an outdoor shower. Like, isn't that just awesome functionality? It is. I just love that everything is hidden. It's crazy. All right. What's behind panel number one? Fiveish or something. It's your kitchen table. M look at this. And it is so sturdy. All they have double struts under here. So we got that. We got this. We could both just sit here and have a whole workday.
I know. I think we might have to do that actually for a little bit of stuff cuz as you guys know, we have not been posting videos very quickly and we are way behind. So that's Eric editing and me going what adventure should we go on next? And what's under my feet? Cool stuff. Big old storage drawers, y'all. and they have stuffed it full of our camping supplies, which we will be making dinner with tonight, as well as washing up supplies and cleaning up. There is a roll of toilet paper, but no, there is no toilet in here, sadly. You might notice that it's pretty bright in here, and that is because they have put in so much mood lighting, and they've done it in such a nice way, so it's kind
of hidden and ambient, but you can control it and make it you set the mood. The light's really indirect, and it's all custom. Like, they put all this in, but it looks like it came from the factory. It really does. I mean, it feels like such a seamless unit. You would not know that this was not factory edition, factory monitor. I think they know what you're getting at. Yeah. You know, it's a custom job. So, you're probably wondering if all this stuff in the back is powered by the battery in the front. It actually is not. They've installed their own little power bank right down here. This has a
built-in inverter, and I think it pumps out like 1500 watts. And the way this works is when you're driving, it charges that or when you're plugged into shore power, it's going to send the charge through this as well. The stove plugs directly into the 120 volt on this. It's like the only 120 volt appliance in the entire rig, but that takes 12,200 watts. So, it's going to drain this thing really quick if you leave it on for too long. It is a small space, so there isn't a ton of storage, but as you can see here, we got a couple little shelves to put things on. They also have more power back here. The bed might be my favorite part of this whole build, y'all. This is
so cool. So, each chair moves independently. So, it can come out just a little bit. So you can like chill and lounge or you can, you know, have kind of like a wraparound seating area in here. But then if you're ready for bed, you just pull it all the way. Boom. And it goes totally flat. And then this little guy will come to match it all the way down. There you go. That's pretty rad. Yeah. Now you got a fulls size bed in here. The beds in the old VW buses are highly uncomfortable. There's always a bar in your back. I'm hoping these are going to be better. They seem like really nice big squishy curtains or cush cushions.
Say curtains. Yeah. I don't know what's happening. We were assured that this is actually a very cozy and comfortable bed. So, I think it's going to work just fine. Yep. And then you just go like this to put it up. Oh my god. You guys, normally in the van, you like throw your back out and pinch and cramp everything trying to get the bed put up. You did that like a pro. I know. It's like I've done it before, but I haven't. That was my first time. Nailed it. And this is where I send Eric when he's being way too annoying up in the front, which is actually all the time.
Yeah, when he's not asleep, he's back here. Just kidding. This is the boot. And as you can see, there's not a lot of space back here. I feel like in a normal VW van, there's a lot of storage here and here. But they have turned this into compartments, which is actually super handy. So, these just pull right out. As you can see, they're pretty long drawers. We've got our charger in here. We got some fan and an outdoor rug. Or if you're at the beach and have a great view, you can sit up here and put your feet here or put this down and chill and have your feet out here. These are rated for I think hundreds of pounds. So yeah, like 500 or so.
Yeah. So they ain't going nowhere. And they also snuck in just a little bit more storage back here. You got to take it where you can get it in these small spaces. Man, look at all the like joinery work that they did. Like they drew all this stuff up in CAD and then they cut it out so perfectly. Pretty impressive. And then there is the pop top, which is probably one of the coolest features of this rig. Works very much like the pop top is going to work in an old school one, except a lot less clunky, much more reliable, easier to put up and down. All those important details. There's a ton of functionality in this thing. I don't even know what all these zippers do.
Check this out. Panoramic view. Oh, cool. I know. This is so cool, man. You get a huge view up here. It actually works. cuz I feel like none of the vans we've been in you can actually use any of this. Man, that was so easy. And it's such like high quality materials. It feels like it's going to last a lot longer than the old school ones would. And look at how easy this is. This is how you turn the top into a bed. You just pull this right down. Boom. There's your bed. Like, how easy is that? Oh, and it's huge. Wow. Y'all, this is a legit bed. These are like hybrid spring thingies underneath the mattress. So, they're actually trying to make this kind of
comfortable, unlike every other VW we've ever been in. Now, on to the outside of this rig. First off, it is just sharp looking, isn't it? It's like basically brand new. The color is amazing. It pops so well in the forest, but obviously some elements of this are not stock. They've lifted this like an inch, an inch and a half, I think, which seems like a little bit, but it makes all the difference. And then they put some really fancy wheels on there. And I love that back here they have these little fake vents. So, if this was an original one from the '7s, these would be holes that are open for, I guess, part of the air cooling system. That's where the air would go out or go in or something.
These obviously are not functional anymore. They're meant to just kind of evoke the vibes of the old one. They did add a little awning to the side of the van, which we're probably not going to use because there's plenty of cloud cover and no sun, so may not need it. So, there isn't any outside storage like you're going to find on an RV or on some camper vans. The only thing you're going to find is this little spot here, which is where the little charging port is. Yeah, this is actually Peace Van's site. So, nobody but somebody in one of their rentals can stay here. But that means they have a hookup for us over there. So, we just got to run a little cord and we got infinite power on the beach. It's
great. I also didn't think about how in this shot all of our stuff is that's all of our stuff. As we said, there's not much storage inside. So, that's storage until we're done filming. I got to tell you, it feels really weird just pressing a button on a Volkswagen bus and the door just closing automatically, perfectly, silently. I was about to say what I find fascinating is you close something and it doesn't go bam. Yeah. That sound of like metal on metal bunk. Especially with this sliding door. Woo! It haunts my dreams.
This is so epic behind you. It looks like we're at the end of the earth, which we are. So, duh, man. We're going to get to sleep with the sound of the waves off in the distance. This is going to be nice. Oh, yeah. And it's in the 50s out here, as you can tell. I got a little chilly, but I think it's going to be so perfect for sleeping tonight. You just get like unobstructed views of nature. There's something about this coastline. It almost looks like if humanity disappeared and the jungle like started to take over the coastline. That's the vibe it gives me.
We're just in for the night. We've got our uh tunes bumping. We're playing the new Bush album. It's pretty good so far. It's sweet though. This just automatically connects and plays through the system, so you don't even need like a Bluetooth speaker or anything. Sounds really good. Does sound really good. And then when you turn it off, all you hear is the ocean, which is lovely. We're cooking Allison's one pot pasta surprise, which is not surprising at all. pasta, chicken, broccoli, and uh olives in a like creamy tomato sauce. We got a little baguette here. I got a stick of butter that comes pre-arbed. I
think that's it. And you guys, we were so late getting out here. It might or might not be 10:30 right now. Yeah. Oopsie. So, this is more of a midnight snack than a dinner. But this cooktop is working very well. I mean, we're monitoring its power draw on the phone. It's just connected to their little power system here. Apparently, at medium heat, this thing can go for almost two hours. So, that's pretty good. And we only need like 15 minutes. So, I was so scared. I was trying to like hurry up and cook everything, but I'm realizing you just let it simmer, baby. Simmer it down now. That's Sherio Terry. She's great. That's old school.
Yeah. We've been doing a lot of SNL references, haven't we? I know, haven't we? I thought you were going to do dick in a box. You can do that one. You do that for me. We'll save that for the other. Alison just threw together our little camper van dinner and it looks pretty dang good. Oh, it's pasta, so it's going to be great. Yeah, pasta, broccoli, chicken, and a little bit of bread to go with it. Believe it or not, we have five bars of signal out here. So, you know what that means? We're watching stories with our dinner. Well,
now that it is officially very close to midnight and pitch black outside, there's nothing else to do anyway, right? So, except broccoli. Cheers. Don't drip it on me. Piping hot. Oh, I drip it. All right. So, making a bed in here is just about equal to making a bed in uh one of the older campers. It's just as awkward and cramped as you think it is. Well, there's no getting around the fact that it takes up all of the available space in the entire camper. No, you still got your seat up there. That's true. I got my little nook over here, so at least I have a place to chill while you're doing all this.
I know. I mean, it's cozy, right? Yeah. We really weren't sure if we wanted to uh brave the top or stick with the bottom. But bottom just makes more sense because the top you have to climb up and down and if you have to pee in the middle of the night seems like kind of a nightmare. I think I'm a bottom type of girl. So, you're a bottom? I am. Are you a top boy? Oh, I'm a top. If you're a bottom, I'm a All right. There we go. What are we talking about? I don't know. That's why we work so well together. But we still have a couple of nights with this rig. And I think now we're going to try to see what it actually
feels like to try to live in here for real. Yeah. To be in here for more than just one night because realistically, if you went out in this, it would probably be for multiple days at a time. So, we're going to see what it feels like to live in here for multiple days at a time. But it is almost 1:00 a.m. Time obviously got away from us, as it seems to do every single day of our lives. So, uh, yeah, we're going to go to bed. Yeah. So, yeah, we're going to put the camera away and we're going to be whisked away to dreamland with the soothing sounds of the ocean. It's really weird. Like down here, you can hear it a little bit. If you go up here, you can really hear the ocean.
All right, goodbye adventures.
