The Ultimate 48 HOURS in Miami! BEST CUBAN SANDWICH EVER + Top Things to Do! | Transcript:

Well, good morning adventurers. Good morning. And welcome to sunny Miami. Don't you mean Benito Zami? You guys, this is what winter in Miami looks like. Come on. It's amazing. You know, we just love Miami because it really doesn't feel like any other US city. Yeah, because it's so tropical and colorful. It can feel like Southeast Asia, but with all the Cuban influence, it can obviously feel super Caribbean. And in some areas like this, the color of the water can make it feel like you're right in the middle of the Mediterranean. We haven't spent all that much time here, so we want to get a little bit more familiar with this city.

So, over the next two days, we're going to be bouncing around the town to hit up some iconic spots, some other local favorites, but most importantly, hunting down the best Cuban sandwich we can find, along with some other tasty and local treats. There is so much to do in the city, it's a bit overwhelming. So, we're going to keep it simple at first and head to Little Havana to try what many say is the best Cuban sandwich in all of Miami. I'm hungry. Let's go eat. Obviously, there is a ton of Cuban influence here in Miami. So, we figured our first stop should be to Little Havana. Specifically, Cay Ocho, which runs right through the middle of Little Havana.

This is a super lively walking street. There are so many bars and restaurants. Some more hole in the wall, some swanky. There's tons of music coming from every storefront. People who are not ashamed to cut a rug. Oh, no. There is quite a bit of dancing. And of course, there is tons and tons of artwork. Give that a little try. All right. I think you got it. Yeah. Am I nailing it? Oh, yeah. Is it really cool and sexy? You look just like her.

I thought so. So, there are obviously a ton of delicious restaurants to try on this street. many of which are going to serve a Cuban sandwich, which as you know is what we are on the lookout for. But alas, we only have time and stomachs to fit one single sandwich in. So, we are going to head to a very highly rated place. Which way is it? I think it's this way. Let's go. So, in the corner of this very unassuming strip mall is a very famous sandwich shop called Sandwich. This was founded in 2017 and believe it or not, it is a Michelin recognized shop.

Yeah. So, I guess it doesn't really have a star, but it's on like the Michelin part of the Michelin guide, right? Good enough for me. So, this is kind of a new school place, but it has been voted on some list as being the best Cuban sandwich in Miami. So, will it live up to that? This mouth is about to find that out for you guys. Our delicious Cuban sandwich has arrived. Check this beauty out. Yeah, that looks right. I love the bread. It is so thin and crispy. Like look how hard it is on the outside, but then you can see how doughy and delicious looking it is on the inside.

Layers and layers of meat, y'all. And then of course the cheese, which is just spilling out all sides of this delicious looking sandwich. So when you walk in, you're greeted by this huge counter where the guys are just working away making all your delicious sandwiches. They cut the bread open, then they pile all the meats on there, get the sandwich all prepared, and then they serve it to you. It's pork, spiced ham, Swiss cheese, pickles, and mustard on Cuban bread. been bite. It hits you in the pleasure centers the minute it goes into your mouth. I'm These are the worst descriptions ever. That's worse than I do, man.

I am a huge fan of the crunchy layer that the bread gives it on the outside. Just perfectly toasted. And then look how much meat. It's just like over an inch of meat. One of these is pork and one of these is spiced ham. I don't know which is which. And I don't care because they mesh together in a magical mlange of deliciousness. How about that? That's pretty good. It's something, darling. The cheese is obviously absolutely gluttonously delicious. And then you get the tanginess from the pickles, little bit of little bit of zing from the mustard.

It's good. I guess this is for you. That is a hefty sandwich, y'all. It's good, man. That spiced ham in there. It's almost like cinnamony, like Christmas ham or something like that. And then of course the mustard is nice and tangy with the pickles too. It definitely is hitting my pleasure centers as Eric would say. We also of course had to get some croettas. These are the ham and cheese which is pretty typical of what you'll find here. And it comes with a green moho sauce. M. Well, that is smoky and salty and delicious. It's like a mozzarella stick but enhanced with the ham in there and then the sauce. It's all crunchy and deep fried on the outside. It's so creamy on the inside. It's almost the consistency of like mashed potatoes.

Deep fried mashed potatoes, but it tastes like deliciously smoked ham and cheese. I think I did okay with that description. Yeah. Better than I did. Okay, here we go. To a delicious first meal in Miami. This park, believe it or not, is called Domino Park. Can you guess why? cuz you come here to play dominoes, which we actually did in Cuba, except it wasn't on a fancy table like this. I think we had a piece of cardboard across our laps that we were playing on. Yeah, we were just some locals stopped us on the street and we're like, "You got to play dominoes with us."

Yeah. And that's where we learn to play dominoes. And fun fact, we play that often now. It's one of our favorite uh twoperson games. And I usually win. I think that's why I like it so much. Yeah. She's on a crazy winning streak. She's won like 30 games in a row, so I don't play anymore. Yeah. If you want to come and learn though, this is a great place to do it. It's actually really intimidating cuz these guys look like they've been playing dominoes since they were a wee little ass.

Oh yeah, they know what they're doing. I just know how to do it better than Eric. [screaming] There are a lot of bars on this street, but one that is pretty famous is this Old Havana. And as you can hear, they've got some real live music happening right now. And it's happy hour. So, I think uh time for a cocktail. I can barely even hear you. The street is so loud. I said, "Let's go have a drink. We ended up getting ourselves a little Havana mule. As you can see, it's very minty. They got some fresh fruit in there and it is very gingery.

Perfectly refreshing. But this place is super cool because obviously they have the inside where they play live music, but then they have this patio area that's super jungly and very cool. They also make their own Cuban sandwich, which looks pretty good. So, definitely check that one out, too. Next up, we decided to come to the most colorful and vibrant part of Miami. It is Winwood. What makes this area very special is that there is street art on every single available building surface. On the concrete, on the light posts, on

the bars, everywhere you look, you are going to see some of the most colorful street art that you've ever seen in your life. Some of it's super simple with just like geometric shapes and then some of it is incredibly complicated done by people who are actual artists. Not that the geometric stuff isn't real art. Yeah, I was about to say, what are you saying there? Back in the ' 50s and60s this was a thriving neighborhood and then they put I95 which cut right through here. Everybody left and by the 80s and '9s this area was pretty sketchy and dangerous. And then in the 2000s some galleries moved in and started doing art crawls and the art kind of took over from there. And as you can

see, they have really run with it and never stopped. We've been in a lot of cities with street art, but this takes the cake. This is the most we have ever seen in one area, and it just every street you turn down has more and more. Speaking of taking the cake, there is a sweet treat that we have our hearts set on. It's actually not cake, so I don't know why I said that. Um, but before we do that, we are going to pre-walk off the calories and explore the beautiful art of Winwood. My goal is to find what my favorite piece is on this whole street. And I'm sure you will tell us all what that is.

This one's actually really cool. Look at that. Really textured. That is really cool. Make sure you look close at the art on this street. You'll find some really cool stuff. Check that out. That's like an actual giant bee inside of there. So, this is Windwood Walls. It is an outdoor art gallery with some of the best street art in the entire world. And back up until 2021, this was all free. Now, sadly, you have to pay to enter. It's only 12 bucks. And I guess it does help preserve the artwork and keep the area up and going. I'm going to go on a limb and say this is my favorite. I just love the colors. And I can't believe

that somebody could come up with all of these images in their head and then paint it on such a large scale. Very cool. for us to park. Ain't that a Cold Play song? It is. I don't even like Cold Play. Not going to lie, Cold Play is not our jam. So, they have actual galleries here and just artwork galore everywhere and some of it is very, very good. It's cool though that you can come here and take a piece of it with you. Yeah. Some of these pieces of artwork are for sale. Um upwards of $10, $20,000 price tag I saw on some of them.

Yeah. You know, so if you come here with a little extra pocket change, you know, that's all you need. Can you guys guess what this is made of? It's glass. I mean, how cool is that? This is a shattered piece of glass, and they've shattered it into all these amazing paintings. Basically, this might be the most creative, unique artwork we've ever seen. This one's only $40,000. Oh, yeah. Retirement or this piece of art.

This is one of those like a perspective art thingies. It's really weird looking. Oh man, that was so weird. When you walked up, it just got really small. Oh yeah. So from right here, it looks like a tiny button. Then when you go up here, it's huge. Pretty cool. Never gets old. I think this one is my favorite so far. It's like there's a crack in the building and the shoelac is kind of holding it together. Pretty clever.

They did a good job with the 3Dness. Well said. So, in addition to all of the artwork in this area, there is also tons of delicious food you can enjoy. And we have done just that. Now, what do I say? We're doing that. We're eating things. We have come to a place called the Salty. And what do they make here? Something that's not salty at all. Actually, ours might be. This is a guava and cheese doughnut, y'all. This place specializes in small batch craft donuts. It started as a food truck here in Winwood, and now they have expanded. So, it's all over the Miami area, but is also in some other major cities like Austin and Denver. So, if you're far away from here, but you still want to

get your doughnut on, find a salty. Like every place in Windwood, it is very welldesigned on the inside. Very cool. And they have so many delicious types of doughnuts. They have maple and bacon, of course. There's whipped Nutella. There's a pumpkin roll that looks amazing. And so many more awesome doughnuts to try. So, come here and stuff your face. Yes. But we were told that this is one of their most popular and unique donuts. Wava and cheese. I don't know what it's going to taste like. Oh, yeah. Now we're talking. I was going to tell you to take a big bite, but you just did it anyway.

Oh, I did. M. Okay, there's a lot of flavor in that thing. Well, confirmed. That is some guava goo deep in there. I'm not going to lie, guava is not my favorite fruit in the entire world. It's a little funky. On the uniqueness scale, it's up there. It's a 10 out of 10, y'all. I have no idea what Allison was talking about. This donut is delicious. Oh, yeah. It is everywhere. Oh, man. If you like guava, get the guava donut because I think it's fantastic. We should have gotten the maple bacon for you. And I'll stick with the guava.

Well, it is starting to get late in the day and we really want to find a good uh sunset spot for the sunset. Well said, sir. But we drove across the bridge to Miami Beach and then we are going to head to the southernmost point of that. Hopefully find a delicious maybe steak restaurant. We have this fantasy of getting a table right on the water for sunset. Will it work out? Probably not, knowing our luck, but we're gonna dang try. Well, we made it to the park and we found cats.

Look at this big old boy. He is so cute. You think he's nice? I can't tell. He kind of looks like a lion. He does, but he came up to you like he wanted to be pet potentially. We made it to the steakhouse on the water. The sunset is going to be epic. I believe it's a steak house and the prices are a little bit up there. In fact, the cheapest steak is an 8 oz fillet for $65. So, bit more than we wanted to spend for a nice sunset. We'll be saving our appetite. We did get a beverage though to enjoy it with, which are also 17 bucks each, so maybe one and done.

It's funny cuz it's like a really fancy area, but then you have, you know, people rollerblading by shirtless. You got some feral cats over there. But we do have the two most adorable puppies over here. They're so cute to have beautiful Miami Beach sunset. Yeah, this is great on the water adjacently fancy tonight. It's all good things. Well, confirmed. If you want an epic sunset, come to the rocks in front of the restaurant. You don't even have to pay for the drinks here. So, like the restaurant's there, the rocks are here, and they line the whole coast. So, just stay in there and you can get a free sunset. And it's magical. I mean, look at the city over there. It looks fantastic. But if you're to drinks like we are, there's also a bar right there.

You could probably just bring your own booze. Well, you're probably not allowed to, but you could do that. Yeah, just come pet the cats, you know, like squigg something out of your jacket. It's all fine. Every anything goes in Miami, right? Are you trying to turn me into Florida man? I don't. That's what Florida man would do. He'd have a gator under this arm and a kit under this arm and a drink in his pocket. Well, regardless of what you do, this was an awesome day in Miami. That it. We're on to day two. Let's do it. Well, good morning adventurers.

Good morning. Well, you don't have to say good morning adventures. Oh, yeah. This isn't the start of the video. I don't know. It's the start of a day, so it's a good morning. But we've officially done enough looking at the water. We are getting in the water, y'all. We're in it. Actually, currently in it, y'all. Right behind us, right back there, there's a little island, and it is known as Raccoon Island because apparently the only residents on the island are raccoons. They're sweet little guys. How is it back there, darling? Uh, that's great. Am I running into a mangrove? Not yet. Yo, should put it away before I go like this. Oh god.

Don't Don't even play like that. Raccoon Island, here we come. Yeah, we stumbled onto these two raccoons that are just going at each other. They're really pissed off. This is like Mircat Manor but with raccoons. Feel like, can we do some conflict resolution right now? It's going to be okay, you guys. Well, we made it to the island and it definitely lives up to its name. It is overrun with raccoons. As soon as we paddled up, they all came crawling out of the woods towards us. I just love their little hands, you know? They grab stuff like little human hands.

Yeah, they are so gentle, too, you guys. They like One of them came up. He just politely put his little paws on my leg. And what's really crazy is that the downtown of Miami is right over there. Right there. It is actually a beautiful island. Like, if you wander away from all the kayaks are, there's a lot less trash. The water's so blue. It's really quiet out here. When you're on this island, uh, stay on the path because there are creepy spiders right adjacent to the path. A lot of spiders and you don't want those on you, you guys. Apparently, they don't get enough fresh water on the island, so they will gladly drink water from your water bottle.

Well, that's cute. Man, that was such a goofy and random thing. I feel like we just entered the secret world of raccoons for an hour or so. They're so cute. I can't believe people don't have them as pets more often. I don't really understand. They seem pretty mischievous. Well, yes, but aren't cats kind of mischievous as well? They don't have hands. That's true. They've got hands. That means trouble, man. Adorable. What an adorable start to a day. So, Miami itself might be a pretty huge city, but if you head south, you will

pretty quickly get into basically the middle of the jungle. But if you don't want to go that far, just search botanical gardens in Miami and there are a ton of them, including this one, which is the Fairchild Tropical Botanic Garden and confirmed it is huge. There are so many plants, so many huge trees, so many little critters and little butterflies flying about. But man, it's crazy. We're right outside of Miami and it looks like you just stepped into Jurassic Park or something. Yeah, the drive [clears throat] down here was amazing. It was basically just tree coverage the entire way. You couldn't even see the sky.

All right, we found the king of all the lizards over here. This guy looks amazing. Alison said it looks like he's about to do a DJ set or something cuz he's on top of that equipment. Head banging and everything. It looks like he's got a mohawk. Dude, what a cool color, huh? Yeah, it's good that they have these signs all over the place in Florida because uh it's a good thing to keep in mind. Crocodiles in the area. Are they just in that water though? Well, this seems like where they should hide. So, I'm going to get away from that.

No, I don't like that. It's happening. You guys look over there. It's a huge crocodile. He is massive and terrifying. I know. We said we wanted to see one, but I take it back. I don't want to see one. That's just there. That just lives there, and he can do whatever he wants. A crocodile could be anywhere. We could have walked right by that guy, not even known it. So, the butterfly shows all this blue fancy stuff, but then when I get real close to him, he shows the eyeballs to try to scare me off. That's super cool. It's so mysterious in here. Good one. A good one. No, it was not. Why do they have misters in here? It's very cool.

You know, the way the light is refracting through the mist. I think this calls for some epic slow motion shots. Epic slow motion. Well, this was 100% worth the stop. Definitely check this place out if you're in Miami. We saw so much wildlife. I can't even believe it. I mean, two real life crocodiles just doing their thing. But I think now we are going to head back to the concrete jungle.

There's just something really cool about a drawbridge, you know? I feel like this is a GTA and that's a ramp and I should launch right on top of those buildings. Y'all, the downtown area here in Miami is hustling. And it is bustling officially. I really like the cityscape here. It's very tropical feeling. Everything's kind of white and bright and curvy. It's not all just like big stuffy buildings. And then on the streets, you have self-driving cars everywhere. You've got those little delivery robots on every single street corner. But look at this water, you guys. How cool is that, man?

It is just crystal clear. It's t-shirt weather. I just want to jump in so bad. But I are you allowed to even do that? Probably not. Imagine not here. It's a pretty hightraic boating area. Well, anyways, we just really wanted to explore the downtown area a little bit. We actually just went to a restaurant. We got some coffee. We'll link to the places we went to in the description below. We didn't I forgot to bring my camera, but they were really good. But I think right now we are going to head to

somewhere where we actually can get in the water, right? Yeah. I mean, we're surrounded by beaches. I feel like we should go to a beach. All right, it's sunset round two. And for that, we came to uh Miami Beach and it is beautiful. The breeze is just blowing. Everyone's out. The weather is perfect. The clouds are making it a little moody. Yeah, the sun is setting just now. So, we've got this epic glow on the clouds surrounding us. But these are actually what I kind of came here to see. These are the colorful little lifeguard stations. Every few hundred feet there's

a different one that has a its own quirky style. So, we're going to go check them out. Well, those are the happiest dogs on the planet, huh? They're making me the happiest girl on the planet. I'm thinking this is a pretty good ending to our time here in Miami. The water is so much warmer THAN IT WAS DOWN IN TEXAS, except when it splashes your bits. It's a little chilly, but uh what bits, but man, the weather is fantastic out here. It is perfect. All right, Miami in the winter. This is the time to come.

I see. I see why people do this. It makes sense cuz uh this sure beats us scraping ice off your car in the morning. Well, we have had a blast in Miami. We've eaten delicious things, drank delicious things, saw cute things, saw not so cute things. Ferocious things. Ferocious creatures. This is a bad spot to do an ending. We're going to push all around. But this is just the start of all of our tropical adventures, you guys. I think we're going to have a lot more from Florida. We're going to go down to Mexico, maybe even further south. Still trying to fluff it out, but for now, we're going to enjoy the ocean and leave you guys here. Goodbye, adventurers. We'll see you on the road.
