Hey guys, I'm here at Toy Animation Studio in Japan. And today we have a very special guest. Please welcome director Poyama. He's the creator of Elon, an awesome series that mixes animation and science. I actually got to be in Elon, too, and I was able to voice my own character. He's working on season 2 right now, which we might be able to see a sneak peek of later. Join us today to learn more about Elemon, get an animation lesson from a pro, and do a fun science challenge together. But first, let's sit down and talk with director Boya on how Elon started. Let's go. I've been working with you on season 1 and season 2 for multiple years. I have so many questions.
Okay, let's start. Which character from Elon is your favorite? I'd say Akuro is my favorite. Auro isn't just a mascot. I see them as someone who grows and changes alongside Leo. I really cared about showing how their bond develops as partners. And of course, Ryan, too. He's the main character's best friend, and the whole content creator angle made him really fun to write. His expressive personality is actually inspired by Ryan's real videos. Because I helped with the voiceover, I already got to see season 2 early. And I think my favorite character is Silica because it grows alongside me and it's really cute. You think I could preview a little bit of season 2? Okay, apply.
Okay, roll the clip. Leo Wood sets out on a new adventure with friends new and old. But watch out, there are new villains on the horizon and new Elmo. Leo faces epic battles with his best friend Akuro by his side. Don't miss a second of the thrilling adventures season 2 of Elon. While visiting Tolli Animation, director Poyama gave us a behind-the-scenes look at how Elamon is made. Since season 2, you grew up a little bit. So, he changed the character design a little bit, but he's shocked that u when he first saw you in person, actually, up to you, you're actually a lot cooler looking than the uh charact
design. You used to the brush tool earlier which you just do you think it looks like your face? Yeah. That's me and Zilica. Oh man, I wish I had a character too. So in the last minute he heard the M and K coming too. So if he did something funny so he ended up drawing MK too. That's me. I'm there too. After that he added the colors using the tools. Wow, so cool. We also received a personal animation lesson from director Poyama himself. He showed us traditional animation styles, but also more modern ones. Look at how he moves each limb individually. It's awesome to see how these illustrations come to life.
Next, we got to make our own illustrations for Elemon. Emma drew some stars, and Kate drew a flask with some green chemicals. Finally, I got the opportunity to animate my own character dancing. Look at him go around. That's so cute. Well, you guys are cheering me on for my dance. Yeah. Thank you so much for teaching us animation. In the Elemon series, there are many experiments and chemistry concepts. So during production, have there been any experiments that you wanted to try yourself?
I've actually done the plastic bottle rocket experiment as a kid before. It was a lot of fun. I've also always wanted to try things like the Mentos and Cola experiment or dissolving gold leaf after seeing them on YouTube. Toward the end of season 1, there's a scene where Auroro and Liquid fight using water against water. Working on ideas like turning water into water glass or splitting it through electrolysis was really exciting. Making slime is fun, too. So, I've always been especially into experiments that play with the properties of water. That's perfect, cuz the science experiment that I prep for today is actually involving water. All right, guys. Today's experiment is about a hydraulic pump. Now, it might sound
tricky, but it's actually really simple. A hydraulic pump is just a way to move things using water. See these two syringes, also called pistons? Well, when I push this one down, the water will move through the entire thing and then push this part up like this. So, even when I'm not touching this part, I can still move it by pushing this piston down. This happens because you can't squeeze water smaller. So, when you push it down, the force has to go somewhere. Now it's time for a fun challenge. I have this hydraulic hand that moves using the hydraulic pumps. Wo, that's so cool. Can I join the challenge, too?
Yeah, Emma, you guys are going to do the challenge, and I'm going to be the judge. Let me explain. First, you guys are going to test it out. I'm going to give this hand to director Coyama, and I'm going to give this one to Emma Kate. for you. So, for this challenge, you guys are going to take turns grabbing these objects and putting them into the basket. We have an orange, an apple, a water bottle, and then a Ryan's World Mystery Egg. Whoever puts all the objects into the basket here in the middle wins the challenge. All right, 3 2 1 go. Easy. Come on. Get down. Here. Try it.
Why is it so happy? Squeeze here. Oh no. Oh, this one's harder. Okay, next one. Next. Come on. You got it. You got this. Oh, it's so close. I don't know who's going to win. You got a key. Oh no. Grab it. Look at this. The shape. It might be a little hard. The LM1 series is created using Flash animation. What do you think makes Flash animation so great? What I love about it is how quickly ideas turn into something real. You can think, "What if I draw it like this? How would it move?" And then almost
immediately see it come to life on screen. That speed makes it really fun to work with. And with a bit of creativity, you can create all kinds of interesting expressions and effects. It kind of feels like I'm still doing the arts and crafts projects I loved as a kid, just in animation form. As a token of appreciation for coming out today and teaching us how to animate, we have some surprise gifts. Thank you. And not only Ryan Toys, we have Emma and Kate toys. Oh, thank you. The last toy is for you. Here you go. Thank you.
I wanted to thank you for having me in one of your videos, so I got you guys a present, too. Looks so cool. It's the illustration I showed you guys earlier. I colored it and framed it for you guys. Thank you so much. Thank you so much, Director Co, for coming today and teaching us more about Elemon and animation. And the science experiment we did was super fun, too, about hydraulics. And make sure to stay tuned for Elemon season 2. Wait, what is that? Is that what I think it is? Is that a Pluto? Pluto. Thank you guys for watching this video. Thumbs up and subscribe.
