And when you're going down and have to huddle on the sides, don't be surprised if a little bird droppings fall on you. travelers. With you Mark and Walter's World. Today we are in Perast, Montenegro. Today we have prepared some tips for visiting Perast, as it is a great place for a day trip from Kotor, where I know many tourists come during their visit to Montenegro. This place is famous for the Skrpjela. You know, it's on all the postcards from Montenegro, where the Bay of Kotor is depicted, this artificial island with a small church. Yes, it's right here. And what's cool is that you can get there by boat. It's
not too expensive. A quick trip to visit the church and the small museum that is there. This is really very beautiful. The thing is, you can only visit one island. The other island is a cemetery and church, which are not open to tourists, so keep that in mind. If you're going here, know that this city essentially consists of one street. And what's cool about this one street is that it's located right on the water, which is really nice. There are several museums here, such as the Perast Museum, which tells the story of the city and its maritime past. It's worth going there to learn more about this city. Also, while walking around, you will see that there are many beautiful buildings in the city, they are called palazzos, but in fact they are very
luxurious houses that you can explore. Some of them can be seen from the outside or even stopped in while you are here. Some of them are currently being restored, which is also quite interesting. Another feature of this place is the large number of churches that can be visited, and this is one of its main advantages. While you are here, you can visit the Church of St. Nicholas. And you know what? In the Church of St. Nicholas. You can climb the bell tower and see the panorama of the city. This is truly a very beautiful sight. As I said, it's better to come here for just one day. Although you can stay overnight. There
are many apartments here where you can stay when you arrive. But the thing is, it's also full of restaurants. However, this place is purely a tourist destination. So be prepared for tourist prices. And you know, if you've been to Kotor, you know that the prices there are quite high. The situation here is similar, but the views when you are here are simply incredible. But I will say this: if you are going to stay overnight here and are looking for accommodation, check if they provide beach access. Because when you're here, if you want to visit the beaches, most of them are concrete platforms or something like that. Many of them are owned by hotels, so it's worth asking: " Where can I go? Where can I relax?" There are places to stop, that's not a
problem, but you 'll be walking along the waterfront- it's not exactly a boardwalk, just a path and road along the shore. It's a really great feeling- to enjoy it while being here. And what's really important, what I want to remind you of-don't forget that you're in the Bay of Kotor, and there are wonderful views to admire. People come here from all over Montenegro, and from everywhere, to see it. And if you're going from Kotor to Dubrovnik, it's along the way. Depending on traffic, it is about a 15-30 minute drive from Kotor. What's good: if you want to come here and don't have your own car, you can hire a driver or take a taxi.
Also, there is a public bus service here, so you can easily visit this place. But keep in mind: if you're driving, don't expect to park in the city itself if you're a tourist. There are barriers on both sides of the city, so you will have to park outside them. There are not many parking spaces and you will notice that people just leave their cars on the side of the road, so maybe that will be the best option when you arrive, okay? So, while you're here, you'll definitely want to grab a bite to eat. Be sure to try the seafood when you're here. By the way, Montenegrin wine is really great, so it's worth trying when you're here. This is a very nice place to just sit and
relax. Here are Liam and Jocelyn just sitting there, relaxing, well, you get the idea. And I'll say this: if you drive here from Kotor, the road is very winding. It's beautiful, but very winding, so it can be a bit of a roller coaster, so drink some ginger ale or soda before the ride. Maybe take some anti-sickness medicine if you're having a hard time with the road, I just wanted to warn you. If you are going to Perast for a beach holiday, be aware that the entrance to the water is mostly concrete. Keep this in mind. Many beaches are private, you have to pay for entry, or they belong to hotels. They have a small beach area for guests, but that's the realities of life here in Korčula. So you can just enjoy yourself as a tourist or lie down
and sunbathe. There are a few small places where you can rest, but just be aware of that. While here, you must try Korčula cake. This is a local dessert from this cute little town. It's not too sweet. I like him. It's almond-like, a little crumbly, but that's even good. It is served with delicious vanilla ice cream. And I recommend it. At least try it once. And yes, this is the St. Nicholas Tower, which you can climb to admire the views of the city, the bay, and all this beauty. If you are planning to climb the St.
Nicholas bell tower, I must warn you. Don't be too big or clumsy, because you have to be agile, fast, and a little slimmer than me to get through-there are low passages, you can hit your head. You have to wriggle to get through, and if people are coming down at the same time as you, I literally held on to the wall to let them through. So keep that in mind. If you suffer from claustrophobia, this is not for you. But the views here are simply incredible. Just look. This is simply beautiful. Yes, when you go down, sometimes you have to move backwards to get through, because otherwise you just won't get through. And when you're descending and have to lean against the walls, don't be surprised if
a little bird droppings fall on you There are great views here, as I said, but yeah, if you suffer from claustrophobia, if you're not very agile and fast, it's not for you. If you are afraid of heights, this is definitely not for you. And there won't be a wife around to clean the bird droppings off your pants I wouldn't even notice, but she's really helpful with things like that, you know. Thank you, dear. So, if you want to visit the Church of Our Lady of the Rock, it's best to make sure to stop in Perast, which is about a 20-30 minute drive from the old town of Kotor, depending on traffic. You just get on the boat in the city. See these boats? They sail there to visit the church and the museum inside. This is actually a very interesting place to
visit. Unfortunately, you can't go there. This is a cemetery and another church, but it's not for tourists. This is the place you need to get to. So if you are in Kotor, this might be a great idea. You can take a boat trip directly from Kotor if you want. They go to the Blue Cave and other places. There is a lot to do on the water here, but it is much faster to just drive to Perast, enjoy the town, and then hop on one of these little boats. Honestly, there are many options if you want to book a private boat tour. You can travel around the entire Bay of Kotor. Honestly, just walking along the embankment is a wonderful experience. It's so relaxing and so beautiful, whether you love nature, historic homes, or just the scenery around you.
The waterfront here is unbeatable. And if you don't want to spend money in restaurants, there are small souvenir shops where you can buy water at an affordable price. You can do that if you want to have a snack, but sitting on the waterfront, drinking, eating, and enjoying the moment is the best thing to do here. If you don't want to carry your luggage to the hotel or apartment, there are small golf carts that run here, so you can use them to deliver your belongings if you wish. One more thing, I know the service here is very friendly, but I must warn you that this is Montenegro, so remember to be patient when it comes to service,
getting your food, or the menu. But overall, I noticed that everything happens faster here than, for example, in Kotor or Budva, and that's nice. Also, if you want to stay here, there are many apartments and hotels, but I would advise, since it is a small and popular town, to be sure to book accommodation in advance. It's worth staying here for the night, because at this time it's empty here, and the entire embankment is literally at your disposal. This is just an incredibly beautiful place. And if you're looking for something else to do, don't forget that you ca n't just take a boat to the Church of Our Lady on the Rock.
You can go on a boat trip around the bay and visit the Blue Cave. This is a great base for boat trips to the Blue Cave. You will see people here with their boats offering rental services and so on. This is a very affordable activity, and the views are simply breathtaking. I've been to the fjords in Norway and I understand why they say that the atmosphere here is similar to when you sail through the Bay of Kotor, because it really is very beautiful here. So you should take advantage of this opportunity. I know Justin mentioned cake, but there are other things here worth trying. Of course, seafood, because we are on the shores of the Bay of Kotor, and the sea is very close by. Here you will find wonderful seafood: oysters, mussels and much more, which
will be very tasty. Sea crucian carp, sea bass-you will definitely be satisfied. You can also taste local Montenegrin dishes. Remember prosciutto? Prosciutto here in Montenegro is simply delicious. Cheese too, so be sure to try it. So you can eat very well . So you can get a taste of Montenegro when you 're here. But yes, if you are on the waterfront, then I would choose seafood first. I hope this short video about Perast will help you decide to come here for a day, especially if you are staying in Kotor.
It's so close. Well, literally, a ride here on a public bus costs less than two dollars. It's such a beautiful place on the coast, easy to get to, as is the island of the Virgin on the Rock, because it's literally right there. So it's a really great place to visit. I hope you will come here. If you want to learn more about Montenegro, what not to do during your visit, what to eat besides that cake, Perast cake, and prosciutto and local cheeses-we have a video about what to eat in Montenegro. I wish you a wonderful time. And if you are planning a trip, this place is worth coming for a day if you are in Kotor, especially to escape the crowds of tourists, because there are too many of them in Kotor. Cruise ships can be a bit tiring. There are also
tourists here, but there are not so many of them, so you can fully enjoy your vacation and even get to know the nice locals. So I hope you have a great time, and I bid you farewell from Perast, Montenegro.
