Apple's M4 MacBooks and Mac Mini Launch What to Expect

Apple is expected to launch new M4 MacBooks and Mac Mini in October 2024, with significant improvements in AI performance, CPU and GPU speeds, and a potential redesign for the Mac Mini. The base models may see RAM upgrades, while the high-end configurations offer powerful specs for professionals.

so about that possible Apple event happening later yeah well there's a lot to discuss there aside from an extra pair of pro airpods and even an updated iPad Mini Apple seems ready to bring us new Macs in probably the most aggressive launch we've seen from the company in a bit at this point a year has passed almost since Apple scary fast event of the M3 Pro and M3 Max chips and then we got the M3 MacBook airs around 6 months ago the natural progression was for this to be the M4 event but that already happened with the iPad proos that we got in May I know that move was odd but it helped pave the way for what to expect later for the Mac this year I'm H Mar with pocket now and grab some

popcorn as it's time for another Deep dive this time all about Apple and Computing even if I'm probably going to have to split this video all right for those of you wondering exactly how many computers well I'd say the question should be how many lineups we hear of updates to the MacBook Air which comes in two variants the MacBook Pro which comes in three and uh in two sizes and then we've got the Mac Pro Mac Studio and then finally the update that we've been waiting for the iPad Mini for years let's begin with the laptops reports indicate that apple is already moving forward with mass production for the M4 Pro and M4 Max MacBook Pros with a potential launch in October 2024 while there aren't any technical details about

the M4 chip just yet for the Mac experts like Bloomberg's Mark Gman believe that artificial intelligence will be a key selling point this makes sense given the increased focus on AI in the tech industry especially with Intel and Qualcomm recently released AI optimized chips that we just saw two days ago here at EA the M4 chip is expected to bring significant improvements in CPU speeds GPU performance and AI capabilities much like the M4 iPad Pro that was released a couple of months ago with impressive gains however for the base model MacBooks it's likely that Apple will stick to a current trend of offering enough power without going overboard for example the entry-level 13in M3 MacBook Air currently starts

with an 8 core CPU 8 core GPU 8 gigs of memory and 256 gigs of storage we can expect similar specifications with the M4 version with perhaps some minor upgrades though we did hear a call of 16 gigs minimum of ram going forward but one can only dream that said even if this new M4 chip continues to be 3 nanom architecture it's of a more efficient design than the M3 currently the M4 features a 10 core CPU 10 core GPU providing 50% increase in CPU performance and up to four times faster rendering performance but yeah compared to M2 the lines are a bit blurred when compared to the M3 there's also a variant of the M4 with a 9 core CPU but it's likely reserved for the iPad Pro and possibly a future MacBook care and

not necessarily other variants like that possible M4 MacBook Pro now at the higher end the current 16-in MacBook Pro with M3 Max currently costs $7,200 if you Max it out offering 16 cores in the CPU 40 cores in the GPU 128 gigs of memory and 8 gigs of storage while it's too early to be sure to say the M4 versions might offer slight improvements and core count or performance but it's unlikely that we'll see radical changes now as for the designs it's still too early to know if Apple will make any major updates in how these look we really don't expect them to happen I mean Apple only recently updated the MacBook Pros design in 2021 and the company can sometimes do those every 5 years or so I'd call it unlikely that

we'll see a redesign anytime soon the popular slim and lightweight design of the MacBook Air is also expected to stay the same with apple focusing more on internal upgrades than changing the overall appearance I know when it be great if Apple brought that 12-in MacBook again with an M4 even with the old design I would take that computer any day one area where we might see some Innovation is in Ai and machine learning capabilities the new M4 chips neural engine is rumored to have more cores than the M3 which would make it even better at handling AI tasks this is especially relevant given the current trend of promoting laptops based on their AI capabilities Apple could showcase how the M4 optimized Max Ser

better at running AI powered apps possibly even demonstrating how a popular chatbot like chat GPT can run locally on the device offering better privacy and security given open ai's announcement collaboration back at WWDC that could totally happen now battery life has been a strong point for MacBooks ever since Apple introduced its own silicon chips with recent models offering from 12 to 17 hours of real world use on a single charge the M4 MacBooks are expected to continue this trend with Apple likely touting improv power efficiencies alongside the performance gains of the new chip and listen I can already tell these battery life benefits on the M4 iPad Pro that I've been testing compared to my old M2

so I'm totally looking forward to it obviously the biggest question is pricing and especially when Qualcomm has already figured out how to drop the price points with the new 8 core Snapdragon X+ obviously yes competition has never stirred Apple's decision-making copertino tends to stick close to the prices we've seen on previous models with only minor increases if there were significant upgrades currently the 13in M3 MacBook Air starts at 1099 with the 15in starting at $12.99 the 14-in MacBook Pro in the Bas M3 chip starts at $15.99 and then the 14-in M3 Pro starts at $1 199.99 16-in M3 Max starts at $24.99 if Apple raises prices for the M4 version and it's likely to be $1200 which is consistent with what Apple usually does now let's switch

gears over to desktop sort of as one product that's long overdue for an upgrade as the Mac Mini I mean the current design is more than a decade old Apple is set to introduce a new version of the Mac Mini in 2024 making it the first major change since 2010 the redesigned Mac Mini will be Apple's smallest desktop computer yet with a size similar to what we see with the Apple TV although it will have the small compact footprint the new Mac Mini will slightly be taller than the current model at 1.4 in height this redesign is expected to make the Mac Mini Slimmer and more modern looking while retaining its functionality Apple has been testing models that include at least three USBC ports on the back along with a power

cable and an HDMI port making sure the Mac Mini remains a versatile and Powerful desktop computer wow could you imagine if Apple were to allow you to use like the iPad as a monitor for the Mac Mini I would totally travel with this thing if that were happening the new Mac Mini will be powered by Apple's M4 and M4 Pro chips skipping the M3 lineup entirely and moving directly from the M2 to the M4 obviously with all the rate tracing capabilities of this new chip if Apple were to continue with its cool architecture this might just be the smallest gaming laptop sorry desktop even if it's laptop guts that you'll be able to buy now as for Ram the M4 Mac Mini models are expected to start at 16

gig standard a notable upgrade from the 8 gig base that we currently have this increase in memory is likely to be better for supporting Apple's Ai and machine learning capabilities making the Mac Mini even more of a capable computer for professionals and creative tasks developer logs have shown that the M4 Max are tested with 16 and 32 gigs of RAM indicating that apple is finally focusing on providing an ample amount of memory to handle uh the most demanding in modern test today in 2024 the Mac Mini is shaping up to be a significant upgrade both in terms of design and performance with a Slimmer more compact design and a powerful M4 chip this new device will be offered in uh improved

speeds graphics and AI capabilities making it a strong Contender for any desktop in the computer Market though let's see how that price point starts to conclude notice I couldn't even scratch the surface when it comes to the Mac Pro and Mac Studio there's just a lot already in these two lineups that I just mentioned so that might be a story for another video whatever the case may be on the possible October event it's clear that both arm chips and AI are driving the market for consistent upgrades which only benefits us consumers we'll see how Apple plans to price these new devices as yeah it would be awesome if they got more aggressive about that let me know what you think about these possible
