Our First Ever ALASKA CRUISE on MSC Poesia! - Was it Worth it??. | Transcript:

Yo, we just woke up to the most incredible scene just right off our room balcony. We went to bed last night to just like forest off in the distance and woke up, we're in the freaking mountains. There's ice in the water. Like, Alaska, what are you doing? We have officially boarded the ship, and as is tradition, we got our champagne. Yay! And next up, we got to head to the tippity top, right?

Mm-hmm. Gotta check out the views. Good morning, Adventurers! Good morning! We are currently up in Seattle because we are doing something that has been at the top of our bucket list for so friggin long. You guys, We're going on an Alaskan cruise! Yeah, we just boarded the MSC Poesia and it's going to take us from down here in Seattle all the way up to Juneau, Alaska.

We have never been on an Alaskan cruise before, so we're not quite sure what to expect, but I imagine it's going to be way cooler than any other cruise we've been on. And not just because we're going up to Alaska where it tends to be a little chilly. That's what we're starting with, y'all. I feel like we can do better than that. It's got to go up from here though, right? I mean, we've cruised a ton in the Caribbean, which is great, but when you look out, all you see is water, which we've always thought was a little boring. But this time we're going to be taking the inside

passage, which means we're going to be surrounded by land almost the whole time. We should be passing by glaciers. We should see a ton of animals. We'll hop off and do some exploring on the mainland. It should all basically just be insanely beautiful, and we absolutely cannot wait. We are actually partnering with MSC for this trip, and this is their first time doing an Alaskan route. So it is a first for both them and us. But yeah, I think we should be setting sail any minute, right?

Yes! Alaska, here we come! We just left Seattle,. And it was so awesome seeing the skyline in the background just get smaller and smaller. But before we do anything else, we've got to check out our stateroom, which is right here. 12173. Yeah. Remember that, darling. I won't. You remember. Don't worry, I gotcha. All right. Okay. This room is sweet, y'all. Got a big old king-size bed. We've got a balcony. See, this is what I love is we can see stuff. Ah, mountains and like pine forests. Yes.

I'm digging all the red. Usually the rooms are kind of sterile, but this has some life to it. Check it out, they left a little fruit basket with some champagne. Ooh! Wait a minute, should we do the slow motion pour in the bubbly shot? Yes. Yes, we should. Well, our stateroom is lovely, but the view out from the balcony, that's where it's at, y'all. I mean, look, Mount Rainier, it's still as big as it was when we were in the city.

Look how crystal clear everything is. That is pretty fantastic. Yes. We're gonna look out with this cruise. I think it's gonna be beautiful the whole way. So we're doing this cruise in June, and I think that is the perfect time to come, y'all. The weather is amazing. The sun is shining, as you can see. I mean, I'm in a tank top. Yeah, I thought we were gonna be in like full-on like winter clothes or something. And we have them just in case, but oh, it's so lovely. Well, good morning guys! Good morning from our first port. We have officially arrived to Ketchikan, Alaska. And immediately upon arrival, we saw a pod of orcas.

Orcaz. Not flowers. We saw orca whales, you guys. It is a pretty clear day, so you can see like the greenery off in the distance with all the little houses dotting the coastline. It's nice to look at it from afar and all, but we are gonna get up in there today, and we actually have the perfect set of wheels waiting on shore for us. Ketchikan, here we come! This is our Jeep, our little willy machine for the adventure. This is your little willy? Yeah, my little willy, my little blue willy.

What's happening? I don't know. We're going to go driving this thing, y'all. I think we're doing some backroading, off-roading. It might be blue now, but when we're done with it, it's going to be the same color as this road, man. It's going to be brown as the dirt. Alright, let's do some off-road! 4-wheel drive is engaged. Everyone has signed their waivers. Let's go! So this is definitely a bumpy ride in this Jeep, but if you guys recall, we have our Suzuki Samurai and it's about 10 times worse than this,

if you can believe it. This is what it's like going down a highway in our Suzuki Samurai. Except it's rattling and it feels like it could fall apart at any moment. Well, we took the Jeeps up to a lookout point, and I would say this is an A-okay lookout point. This is a part of the Ketchikan area we did not get to see last time because we did not have enough time. But now I think we're going to head to that water way down there. Mm-hmm. We have just arrived to this amazing pristine lake just north of Ketchikan.

I think the plan is to hop in one of these canoes Go across and there should be maybe some food on the other side and a little jaunt through the forest. So apparently this area here in the lake is like a natural amphitheater, so if you yell you get this like crazy echo. I'm gonna go 3, 2, 1, and on 1 we're all gonna look to the left and then yell Alaska. 3, 2, 1, Alaska! Cool.

We made it to the shore and they had a whole like stove camp set up here for us. They made us fresh chowder. Oh my gosh, piping hot off the fire. Fresh chowder in the woods. Yeah. Oh my God. Fantastic. Amazing. I had no idea this is such a delicious treat. We're just taking a little walk through the forest and boy is it beautiful. It is just so green and so lush. This is actually considered a rainforest. So I guess it gets very, very wet. You'll notice that there is a lot of moss covering everything.

Apparently of the holes in this tree were done by a red-breasted sapsucker. That's quite a name. Wasn't that your nickname in high school? Yeah, it was. Good memory, sir. We just learned that these cute little guys on this log are actually these huge trees in the background, just like little- what do you call them? Seedlings? He said that they will just keep growing bigger, grow through this tree into the ground, and then become eventually big old suckers. That, or that really, because that one's alive.

We did it! We survived the teeny tiny lake. We're back in Ketchikan now, just like exploring the town, scoping out bald eagles, no big deal, because they're everywhere here apparently. They're right there, right on that post. Alaska has more bald eagles than all of the other 49 states combined. So to the locals, they think we look pretty stupid because they don't care about bald eagles one bit. But for us, it's very cool. To them, it's like seeing a pigeon in the city.

It's just like, "Eh, another one." Well, to me, they are still very majestic. And just like that, we're back on the high seas. Where will we go next? You'll just have to stay tuned to find out. Y'all, we just woke up to the most incredible scene just right off our room balcony. That is a huge chunk of sea ice floating over there.

It freshly broke off a glacier, which is what we are headed to right up there. We went to bed last night to just like forest off in the distance and woke up, we're in the freaking mountains. There's ice in the water, like Alaska, what are you doing? We should be pulling up to the actual glacier any minute. We should be able to get fairly close to it, but we heard that you can get a really good view of it on Deck 11. So that's where we are and we are headed to the forward of the ship. So forward to the forward to see the best views ever.

You guys, the glacier is right over there. How cool is that? We are surrounded by all this incredible sea ice. It's so blue, and then the water itself is like a gray-green, and you got the fog and the mist. So apparently the glacial ice and the sea ice is blue because of the way the light hits it. It absorbs all the light except the blue light. That's what refracts back to your eye. So that's why it looks blue and makes you really want a blue popsicle. It really does. There's also just these huge rock faces surrounding us. We're like in this little glacial carved valley.

You got to keep your eye out because there are so many little waterfalls just like running down the mountainside and some not so small ones that are just so powerful. We're back on our balcony because the captain is doing a maneuver right now where he swung it so that the starboard side could see, but we're on port, so now he's going to swing it around so the glacier should be right here for all the port side people to see. Oh my gosh. I'm getting pretty good at my ship lingo. It's so cool, the ship is just sitting in the middle of this valley just rotating like this. So that's the glacier right there appearing in the front of the ship.

Pretty cool. We're finally to the point where I feel like we're not getting lost every 2 seconds on the ship. So I'm thinking this might be a good time to take you guys around and show you everything that's on board. Are you on board with that idea? That's bad. That's really bad. Let's go. First up, we have come to the atrium area of the ship, which is kind of the heart of the ship.

This is like, I guess, the middle meeting point. In fact, it's called Le Rendezvous Atrium. Oh, oh, oh. Yeah, this is the area where all the stairs converge and they have little shows down here and there's always a guy playing piano in the evening. Pretty nice. Like any good cruise- I said gruise. Margarita? I don't need one right now. Like any good cruise, this ship has no shortage of bars, y'all. There are 14 bars on board and they span the entirety of the ship from top to bottom, forward to aft. So if you ever find that your drink is empty, basically just close your eyes and walk in any direction and you can get it filled.

But our absolute favorite bar is the Mojito Bar, and that is because they do fresh fruit smoothies, which are not spiked. They're just fresh and delicious. If you can believe it. I mean, you could spike them. You could. Maybe later. And then of course there is the spa. We actually already had a massage here and it was seriously like one of the best massages we ever had. It is actually kind of warm out today. So everyone's out on the top decks.

This is where you're gonna find the pool and of course the hot tubs. They actually have, I think, 4 different hot tubs on this ship, which I think is the most we've ever seen on a cruise ship. Which seems appropriate. Yeah, for an Alaskan cruise, it's what you want. We just made it to the casino area. The casino Royale. This is one bumpin' part of the ship. There are just people here at all hours having so much fun. Sure, we could spend the night winning big in the casino, but I prefer to spend my money on kicking your butt at air hockey.

Well, I've already beat you once, so are you sure you can handle this? Yeah, but they don't know that. You could just be lying over there. There's no proof. Go in! Oh! Get him! Whoa! Yeah! That didn't count! It did! No, it didn't count! It's already over! You got lucky this time, kid. We tied. Good job. Yeah, yeah, yeah. We have done a lot of eating and drinking on this cruise. I don't have to feel bad about that because y'all, they have a whole gym up here.

This is the yoga room. I mean, it's wall-to-wall windows, epic views. I've got it all to myself. And they have every piece of gym equipment you could possibly imagine. So whatever your routine is at home, you can do the exact one here, which I'm about to do right here. Welcome to the theater. Of course, this is where all the awesome entertainment in the evening is going to happen. Man, this place is grand, huh? It's very purple.

It is! The purple and gold, it feels very regal. I wonder if now is the time if I should finally realize all my dreams of being a comedian. Good evening everybody, and welcome to the Endless Adventure Comedy Hour. So I hear some of you guys saw some bald eagles out there. Well, you know why eagles never get sick, hmm? Because that would be ill-eagle. Tough crowd, tough crowd. And then of course there's the food on board, and that all starts here at the buffet.

First things first, they have a little espresso bar. So before we get any food, we always head over there and get ourselves a little coffee, which looks fantastic. You guys, there is so much food here. We still haven't even tried it all. They have a station where they make pizzas from scratch. They've got fresh bread, of course, just some insanely delicious looking desserts. So much seafood, tons of fresh greens.

This is why I love a buffet. I have amassed quite the feast here, y'all. I've got a little bit of everything from everywhere. And of course she had to get a little salad just to have the illusion of being healthy. Yeah, that cancels out the egg roll, right? Yeah, exactly. But if you're not feeling the buffet or the sit-down dining, they also have specialty restaurants. We came to the Butcher's Cut where you can obviously get these beautiful cuts of steak here. I got the ribeye tonight. They also do craft cocktails, and y'all, they've got these epic windows so you can see all of the Alaskan beauty out there.

Speaking of the cocktails, get the Sazerac. Holy cow, this thing is the best cocktail I've had on board so far. Y'all, it's elegant night on the ship, and so I'm getting fancy for once in my life, or maybe twice. I've done this a couple times, maybe. Usually I just wear my tennis shoes, which I know some of you hate, but I love. So tonight the Converse are staying in and I'm taking out my boots.

I got pretty fancy as well. As you can see, I got nice boots on. You do have nice boots. And the only button-down he owns is a flannel. So this is the beauty of cruising. It's like they have these theme nights, but they're optional, you know, like, you know, literally say in the description elegant night, whatever elegance means to you. If it's like khakis and a polo or a full-on ball gown, which there are some of those out there. All right, madame, lead the way to elegance and opulence. And extravagance. You doing that bit from SNL?

Oh yeah, sabasi crystals. We'll just leave it there. It's a great skit if you have not seen it. We just saw an entire pod of dolphins jumping around at the back of the ship. At one point it looked like there were like 20 of them or something. All over the place and they're so fast and they're so jumpy and they're so adorable. I love it. And an awesome thing about this cruise is that when there is wildlife They announce it over the intercom.

They'll tell you what side of the ship it's on. But tonight we are doing a little specialty dining, y'all. We're going to the sushi restaurant on board. But before that, we decided to grab ourselves a little drink and take in the live music. Yeah, and, uh, it's legit, you guys. These guys are very talented. Very, very talented. They just served us the most beautiful plate of sushi and sashimi. It just looks fantastic. If you're not a sushi eater, this looks disgusting to you, but I very much am, and this is what I like right here.

Like, just a raw piece of salmon. Mmm. I don't need no wasabi. I don't need no soy sauce. I don't need nothing. Just the taste. You're a purist over there. Yeah, the taste of the ocean. That's what I want. We each also got a beautiful sushi roll. Mine is just a bunch of salmon wrapped in rice, and then they have some teriyaki kind of glazed on the top. Oh, there's actually a bunch of different fish. I think there's some tuna and stuff. And then I did a spicy tuna roll. I mean, it all looks beautiful and it's so fresh. And it's kind of funny because this is where like salmon thrive and now

we're devouring them here. I like to think they just threw a reel over the edge and caught them. Right, exactly. They didn't, but that would be awesome. No, that would be amazing. Y'all, I'm gonna go ahead and say that, uh, that sushi was freaking delicious. Best sushi I've ever had on a cruise ship. That's for sure. By far the best we've ever had on a cruise ship. All right, success. I'm very happy about this. And we still have so many days yet to come.

So we have arrived to our next stop. It is here in Juneau, Alaska, and oh my God, you guys, the scenery is just absolutely stunning. Like these incredible forest-covered mountainsides, just like with fog just cascading through them, a little bit of snow on the top. I mean, come on, how is this real? But we decided to stay on the ship because basically everyone is on shore right now. Yes, they are. So we have this whole thing to ourselves, y'all.

Oh my God, that is awesome. It is so nice, man. This is the life. I feel like This is our own private ship right now. These views are incredible. The water is so warm. It really does feel like our own private cruise, y'all. This is all here just for us. We came down for breakfast. We managed to snag a window seat, and you guys, there are whales. I'm not saying like 1 or 2 whales, there are like 10+ whales out here.

It's a school of whales. I think they're feeding or something. It's the most magical thing I think I've ever seen in my entire life. So many little whale tails popping out, and then every once in a while they all just come out at the same time. We learned that what they're doing is apparently they make bubbles to trap the fish, then they all pop out at once and eat them all up. Pretty dang cool. Well, that was absolutely amazing, but our day is just getting started here in Huna, y'all. We are going to do something very cool, very maybe scary, very high up.

They have a zip rider here, but not any zip rider, the longest zip rider in the entire World. Let me prepare. I think I'm ready. You guys, we're about to go 60 miles an hour and it takes 90 seconds to get from here to the bottom. Is that what we're doing? That's what we're doing? That's what they just did and that's what we're about to do. Yeah, that makes sense. Yeah, I want to be hurled off a mountain at 60 miles an hour into pure nothingness. It's an awkward chair, huh? Yeah, a little bit.

Legs up, here we go! Woo! Woohoo! Holy cow! Whoa! Uh, what happened? That was one of the funnest things I've ever done in my life. Let's do it again! Yeah! I'll tell you what I love about Alaska. If you want to see wildlife, you see wildlife. We've just seen all kinds of awesome stuff today. We've seen eagles in the trees flying all around. We've seen like sea lions or whatever they are off in the distance.

We saw those whales this morning. Now if only a bear and a moose and a bald eagle like came down and converged right here and high-fived the sea lion, then we'd have something. Well, we just left the port and they're about to start all of tonight's activities, the first of which is an acrobatic bartending show. I think there's gonna be bottles flying everywhere, and I can't wait.

Well, that was way more fun and wild than I ever imagined. They tossed so many things in the air whilst also making a real-life cocktail. That was a lot of fun. Best way to start the night. It's that time. The theater show should be starting pretty soon, and I think it's gonna be pretty awesome. It should have people flying through the air and all kinds of crazy stuff. This way.

Well, cruise is over. We're in our rental car. Wah. It's always so sad when we leave the ship, huh? I know, back to reality. No food everywhere you turn. Beverages put in my hand. Yeah, constantly being entertained. I know, we gotta entertain ourselves, we gotta cook for ourselves, we gotta find our own coffee maker, our own drinks. Real life is boring, y'all. Definitely in the running for one of our favorite cruises we've ever done. Well, for sure the best views we've ever seen from a cruise ship and the best food we've ever had on a cruise ship, y'all.

If you guys have been on an Alaskan cruise or are going, let us know what you're looking forward to or what you saw. All the greatest hits. But I think that is it, at least for this adventure, y'all. We're gonna be up here for a little while longer doing some more exploring, adventuring, eating all of our favorite things. Goodbye, adventurers. We'll see you on the road.
