it has been 164 days since i last went on a trip 164 days that ends right now we're breaking the record and we are never going to try and set such record ever again today we are not going far but far enough to feel like i have left the confines of birmingham because we are heading to oxford so on this channel we've definitely talked about what travel could look like in the future both for hotels hostels airlines and now we are going to find out what a hotel experience is truly going to be like oh baby hello oh you still have signs on you are you okay it's good to see you again now full transparency i am teaming up with ihd on this is not a paid campaign though this is not a hashtag ad if you follow this channel especially on
my instagram you know that i've worked with ihd very regularly over the past year and a half almost coming up to two years and they reached out to me not long ago and said ali would you like a couple of night stay in any of our hotels to get you back on the road i was like yes i would but full disclosure we did not pay for this two nights day now we're going to be staying in the oxford spires hotel and uh yeah let's get back in let's get on the road and we'll see what the hotel experience is truly like thank you ihg for sending us away for the weekend you have no idea how much we need it we're here how i imagined it would be i'm gonna go check in i'm gonna switch to my gopro now and do a bit of a walk
through to see if there's anything you know like screens up at the reception and stuff like that so do a little gopro walk through while we go and check in get our masks on oh yeah looking good girl i'm used to wearing a mask now i kind of like it no i can see that i'm talking to myself hey we got reservation for two nights under alicia ford ah let us out great timing no i know yeah nope get out fire alarm oh god we'll be out here for a while i think i'll evacuate every room
as you saw from that footage we were in for about i don't know a minute and then the fire alarms went off and everyone had to be evacuated but there's not many people staying here that are here at the moment though they could be out let's go to our room well hello there it's so fresh it's so clean oh you know i've missed like a triple kings like that oh the big beds so this is our room really nice definitely everything looks clean um but all ihg hotels it's been a while that i've stayed and i've been really clean uh one thing to note though she did say at reception she was really lovely when we came back in after the fire alarm everything's been super duper cleaned but if you're happy with unhappy with anything at all then do not hesitate to
just call them and they are going to sort it out for you um but bloody ali looks clean oh what a distinguished gentleman look at the way he's sitting yes very distinguished snacks so everything looks pretty normal to be honest everything like nothing looks different you still got pictures on the wall things like that bathroom echoey oh yes and it does say they have removed some things from the room i have a feeling something was here because this looks like a very strange blank space in the room but we still have paintings like i said um and the side tables are pretty bare don't know if there'll be anything on there anyway but you still got your coffee and your tea um and yeah it just breaks it down for you so here you go if you can pause the
video if you'd like to read there you go oh we haven't rethought about doing things for dinner because we have to book up and we didn't think about that and if you want to stay here go somewhere else so start it with a beer started with a beer so we're gonna head downstairs grab a cheeky beer um at the bar i saw on the sign the bar is open but you can't go to the bar so it's all table service and all the tables are spread apart so you go and the server will come and look after you so let's go we need a beer we need thinking juice very important we just had dinner downstairs thought we'd keep it chill tonight stay in the hotel have some dinner in a few pints absolutely amazing food's always good
though rice's or it really is um and they had it all in the lounge area the restaurant was closed and we pretty much presume there's a nice restaurant there you can see through the windows from outside we presumed it was closed because maybe they don't have the numbers in the hotel to make it viable to open it yeah really delicious got the channa masala so good so yeah back in our hotel room now and we are going to snuggle up and have an early night because i want to sleep for a really long time in a big comfy hotel bed you know they're kind of like they're clouds and they're so big and you just like sink into them i'm so excited about that but yeah so far been feeling really safe everything feels really clean all the staff are wearing masks like
every single person the manager receptionist bar staff waitresses everyone's wearing a mask or a face shield feeling super safe um and yeah it's just really nice to be out it really is all right i will see you tomorrow for some more updates on the hotel if you are looking for a vlog on oxford then hopefully there will be one on my channel which will be the next video but i'm not going to show you around oxford in this video this is all about hotels so see you in a bit bye and we come back and the room is exactly how we left it um because with the clean promise they do not um housekeeping does not come into your room until every five days which is fine with us it is a little thing i miss of course but i totally get why they're not doing it
to have this all made and everything clean and the pillows back up on the bed that's tiny you know and um yeah every five days they're doing it if you're staying here five days obviously if you check out they're gonna do a straight away for the next person obviously but yeah the bed is as comfortable as we left
