Glimpsing The Barn Owlets' First, Adorable, Days | Orion & Celeste Robert E Fuller. | Transcript:

It's now 5 days since Celeste and Orion's four eggs hatched. But when Celeste leaves to stretch her wings, it unfortunately looks like there's now only two. But the good news is these two look to be doing well. The oldest is starting to explore and even stand. When male Orion arrives with prey, he accidentally stands on the youngest before spotting the oldest chick and trying to hand the shrew over unsuccessfully. So he places it down before leaving.

Celeste is soon back, though, and settles down before spotting the runaway chick and bringing it back in and giving them both a well-deserved feed. At this age, we don't get much of a view, especially through the day, apart from a little head poking through the feathers, it's at night when Celeste leaves for short stints that we get our best views. The oldest is biting off a bit more than it can chew.

And the youngest is building up its strength, just managing to sit up. Before Celeste comes hurtling in, flattening them both. It's sad to see two chicks didn't survive. But Orion's busy delivering. Just look at the piles of prey all around the nest. And Celeste is busy feeding. So the remaining two are developing well. The oldest will soon be too big to brood. And now with its eyes open, it grows even more curious.

Much to Orion's dismay.
