This is Oppo's brand new Find X10, and it's a very good phone. It's small. It's a one-handed powerhouse that has everything that you might need, but none of that matters if the software doesn't match up. And I've been a pretty big fan of ColorOS for the last few years, and I actually think it's one of the best OSes on Android. And Oppo asked me did I want to team up with them to show off ColorOS 17, and of course, I said yes. The reason I was happy for Oppo to sponsor this video is because if you've seen any of the reviews that I've done from Oppo phones over the last few years, the one thing that stands out to me is how smooth ColorOS feels. And it feels like this year with ColorOS 17, it's somehow even more fluid. And when I say smooth
and fluid, I don't just mean that apps open quicker or scrolling is a little bit nicer. It's the way the animations are kind of interconnected with each other. This is just for those simple things, whether I'm opening an app or swiping home or pulling down the control center, everything feels very responsive to what I'm doing without those little pauses or jumps that can make a phone feel a little less polished. The nicest thing about these changes on ColorOS 17 is that they are subtle, but because it's the way you interact with your phone every single day, they make the user experience so much better. Oppo calls this side of ColorOS 17 flow everywhere, and a big part of that is this new approach called living flow design. Rather than me trying to read to you and explain
exactly what this means through marketing words, I'm just going to show you so you can actually see how this works. When I open any app or swipe back home, have a look if anyone sent me any notifications, and then jump straight back into the control center, you can see how it all flows into each other with these subtle but really nice bounce animations. And talking of subtle, look how some of these tiles animate in quick settings. The blinking of the eye comfort tile, the personal hotspot animation, or even just the power saving battery bouncing into that mode. And this is what I like. It feels that Oppo has put some thought into this, and it weirdly feels like it has a little bit
of personality about it. And there's an even better example of this. So, when I swipe slowly here, the animations follow my movement. But if I swipe very quickly, the animations react to my movement, and it's completely different. Oppo calls this a flexible feedback, but it's the small details like this that I really enjoy. The idea is that the UI responds to the speed and intensity of how you're interacting with it. So, this sort of animation is everywhere in ColorOS 17. One of my favorite parts of ColorOS though is the lock screen. So, have a look at this that short lock screen. Watch what happens when I put my fingerprint on here.
Did you see how nice that animation was from the clock there? Look at this. Ah! It's so good. I've been such a fan of fluid wallpapers for years, and I think it's because of the animations you get when going from the lock screen to the home screen. And in ColorOS 17, there's this new living clock, which I can resize and pop pretty much anywhere, but just look how cool it is. This is part of what Oppo calls fluid motion, and the living clock animation from the always-on display to the home screen is so smooth and very fluid, and it's one of the first things that I noticed when I started playing around with this phone. This is one of those small, tiny, subtle changes again, but it does make the phone feel a
little bit more alive. And this is why I've liked ColorOS so much over the last few years. It's not just making everything fast, it's the attention to the little interactions you do hundreds of times a day. All these small, subtle changes are not going to change how you interact with your phone every single day, but it does make your phone feel so much more polished with ColorOS 17. But, making a phone look smooth and actually keeping it running smoothly are two very different things. ColorOS 17 is doing a lot behind the scenes, too, because there's this new luminous rendering engine, which Oppo says can reduce rendering loads by up to 30% and RAM usage for rendering up to 25%. Then, there's the lamina flow
engine, which is managing what's happening in the foreground and background. Oppo says that the app launches are up to 55% more stable. Gallery thumbnails load up to 50% faster, and it can keep over 25% more apps running in the background. So, jumping between should mean less reloading. And Oppo did some testing that was designed to simulate six years of usage and Oppo told me that it says devices retain over 90% of their original smoothness even with storage at 90% full. Oppo's tagline for ColorOS 17 is silky flow with AI. I've spoken to you already about the silky flow, but now let's talk about the AI. And I already know what you're thinking
because every single phone seems to be full of AI features now and honestly most of them I use once then completely forget about it. But ColorOS 17 adds agent mode to AI mind pilot and this is a little bit different. Instead of just answering questions, agent mode can actually work directly with files and photos you already have on your phone. Let me show you an example of this using agent mode. Now at the moment it's only available using chat GPT, but by the end of October it's going to be available using Manas. I have a lot of photos of cats on my phone and it takes me a long time to search for the ones that I want. So, I'm going to use mind space and the AI agent here to create an album for me
without me having to do it myself. Go through my photos and create an album called cute cats from all the photos of cats in my photos. It just takes a little while and then the album is created and having a look through this you can see it's got some really nice photos of the cats I've taken. Organizing those photos into albums I think is already quite impressive. But what if I wanted to do something with the photos that mind pilot just organized for me? And this is where I can use another prompt. So, this time what I'm going to say is using the cute cat photo album, can you generate a well-designed guide web page on those photos? And it takes a little bit of time, but then you have this entire page
that looks really nice based off all the photos of cats that I have taken. And I think this is very impressive and this is the type of AI that I can get on board with because when I'm reviewing a phone like this, I take hundreds of photo samples and if I can get an AI agent to get all those photos together into one album so I don't have to do it, then that makes my life so much easier. But if AI can go from just answering my questions to actually completing tasks for me like organizing hundreds of photos and balls, that's something I can actually see myself using. And Mind Pilot is not the only place that Oppo is adding a little bit more AI. There's also AI Photo Agent which lets you edit photos using natural
language and you can tell this exactly what you want to change with prompt edit. You can get suggestions with edit advice or use style match to take the look of another image and apply something similar to your own. I could show you so much more of Color OS 17 because it has so much to actually show, but I do want to show you my favorite thing because look at this. I have got music playing in fluid cloud. Like look how good that looks. This is part of what Oppo calls the Luminous Effect. There's translucent layers and little lighting effects throughout the UI and as I move around with that progress bar, you can actually see the
lighting respond to my touch. It's such a tiny detail, but I also think this looks so good. I can go into the actual phones a little bit more in the full reviews of the Find X10 and the Find X10 Pro Max, but this video was just to show you why I like Color OS 17 so much. Thanks to Oppo for sponsoring this video. Let me know your thoughts on Color OS 17 in the comments below and if you do want to find out a little bit more, then you can check out the Find X10 series and follow Oppo on their socials for everything else.
